Greetings! Looking forward to playing with you all! I haven’t really thought about whether to tweak anything based on the characters chosen, but if we think we need Disable Device, maybe I’m the best to pick that up? Looks like it’s me, a str-melee type, and an arcane caster.
I’m traveling this weekend, will try to check in but if I don’t, expect me on Monday.

I'llrith |

Greetings! I look forward to playing with everyone! With being a full Arcane, I might be a tad squishy at first, but soon enough, we will have friends entering the fray.
Conjuration, Divination, and Transmutation will be the mainstays for the wizard half, while the Sorcerer will focus on Conjuration and pretty much more the common use spells. Hopefully we can get though these ruins and make a grand discovery!
Did the usual dot/delete in Gameplay so I can get updates! Time to work on that character introduction post!

GM of the Mines |

Still getting everything together, but for now I'll say that you have been on a boat from Katapesh (the capital) on route to the city of Solku. Solku is right outside of the mountain range that the mines call home and also happens to be the staging point for your soon to be employers.
If you have any specific questions about the area or the journey, feel free to ask!

I'llrith |

No worries, and thanks again for running! If there are any questions, I will definitely ask.

Yasmin al Akbar |

Should we assume that we all met in Katapesh, met the Truther & Trathis Mining and Excavation Company, and then agreed to set out together to Solku to recover their lost expedition member?
In other words, are we already a team at this point in the game?

Yasmin al Akbar |

Cool! I think it helps if we’re already defined as a group somehow as we get to know each other.
Technically, Yasmin is a 2/3rd divine caster, but Hunter is definitely more about the animal companion. I would be fine switching my Hunter class to Druid if there’s a desire for that. Same Roc animal companion (less effective due to fewer feats), but better spells as we go. I think Nature Fang Druid would be an option, for example. Thoughts?
I actually wonder if we should pluck out a fourth character of ANY class regardless. I’m worried that Samira hasn’t checked in. If we’re open to four, may as well add them now.
*Edit* - Just to prove how easy it is, here's Yasmin as a Nature Fang Druid, which took about 15 minutes to do. Gain Study Target, 2nd level spells, +2 will, and Druidic as a language, lose huntery feats/powers, 6 skill points. Would still need to power down the AC if folks want to do this. Would also need to switch to darkleaf armor and darkwood buckler, but there's wealth enough for that.

Traits:
-Intrepid Volunteer: Like many free halflings, you volunteered readily for military service or an adventuring career and met other halflings who showed you how to make up for your small size. Choose one Strength-based skill [Climb] or one combat maneuver. You can use your Dexterity modifier in place of your Strength modifier to calculate your total modifier for that skill check or combat maneuver check.
-Dirty Fighter: You wouldn’t have lived to make it out of childhood without the aid of a sibling, friend, or companion you could always count on to distract your enemies long enough for you to do a little bit more damage than normal. That companion may be another PC or an NPC (who may even be recently departed from your side). When you hit a foe you are flanking, you deal 1 additional point of damage (this damage is added to your base damage, and is multiplied on a critical hit). This additional damage is a trait bonus.
-Blade of Mercy: You know that within the heart of even the most hateful and cruel living creature exists a sliver of shame and hope for redemption. You have trained long on martial techniques to use bladed weapons not to kill, but to subdue. When striking to inflict nonlethal damage with any slashing weapon, you do not take the normal –4 penalty on your attack roll, and gain a +1 trait bonus to any nonlethal damage you inflict with a slashing weapon.
Skills: Acrobatics +7(1), Bluff +7(1), Climb +7(1), Diplomacy +7(1) Handle Animal +9(3), Linguistics +1(1), Perception +10(1), Perform (dance) +7(1), Profession (cook) +6(1), Ride +9(3), Sense Motive +8(1), Stealth +11(1), Survival +6(1), Swim +3(1)

GM of the Mines |

I checked in with Samira, just sent him a PM.
If we do go for another member, might I suggest Emercy? Dwarven fighter/cleric of Torag, fits nicely in the themes.

Yasmin al Akbar |

Yes, Emercy sounds awesome. Stop! Hammer Time!

I'llrith |

Fits well, with having someone who can do both frontline, and is a divine caster. As for the meetup, I'llrith is good to go for meeting up in Katapesh, as he now has some business to attend to in the city once the job is finished.

Yasmin al Akbar |

@GM--Is it okay to take the Trap Finder trait (swapping out the Blade of Mercy trait), and then move a few points into Disable Device?
OR, if you're not a fan of taking a campaign trait, might I instead take the Gold Finger trait (which is actually a PFS Qadira faction trait and is therefore subtly perfect)?
Just trying to cover the bases. Since this is a custom campaign, if you're not planning on inserting traps or locks, I'm certainly okay not taking this skill.

Javell DeLeon |

Just as a FYI, I typically post after 6 pm CST Monday thru Friday. My job is not one I can post at, so, I have to wait until I get home. So that's why you won't see me post during the day unless I have the day off or am on vacation.
Just a heads up.

I'llrith |

Sounds good to me as well. Did an intro post before your proper intro post.
*Cue scene from Home Alone, when he realizes everyone left without him*
As for posting, I generally post at work from 1500 PST to 2300 PST Tuesday ~ Saturday, but will keep tabs when away from the PC and if I can get on at home.

Yasmin al Akbar |

Aye, let’s do it!
I post at all sorts of random times, more likely to be busy on the weekend.

GM of the Mines |

Feeling much better now! A happy Tahnksgiving to all who celebrate, I understand if posting is thin but I do aim to begin the journey soon.
I aimed to skip past most of the week long journey to Solku by boat, but if you want any additional roleplay scenes with the crew I wouldn't mind writing a few up. A fancy dress dinner in the captain's quarters (once you meet her), an on the way encounter with some local widlife, the like. Whatever you guys are feeling!

Javell DeLeon |

Good to hear!
Hey, those suggestions sound good to me. A fancy dinner along with meeting some wildlife fun along the way.
Trying to think of something else but there really isn't too much more you can do on a boat, so, I'm game with those ideas. Works for me. :)

Yasmin al Akbar |

Just here for the ride--literally! Happy to play along.

Javell DeLeon |

THAT is a good question. After checking his threads, I will say the last time he posted was November 18. Several others are the 17th and the game he's DM'ing was also the 17th.
So, I would guess he's probably having some type of RL issues. Just a stab in the dark though. *shrugs*

Yasmin al Akbar |

Sad that our Ifrit friend doesn't like sailing.
Maybe we pluck a pair of characters from the prior recruitment? Would kind of make sense to have a couple of characters already waiting at the mines if you ask me. I'm fine with anyone but will PM you a couple of thoughts.

Anovat |

Hi folks! Thanks for the invite and the recommendations! I'd be happy to join!
It's weird, the recruitment for this campaign feels like it was months ago instead of weeks. Not sure what that means, but there you go.
Anovat is ready to go, although I don't like the Herolab stat block in the alias, so I'll get around to rearranging it to something I like better when I get the time.
I've got a deadline at work tomorrow, so I won't be able to catch up just yet (a summary would be appreciated... although it sounds like from Yasmin's post above that I don't need to know what's happened so far?) I'm good for posting anything that doesn't require my knowledge of what's happened so far, though.

Azadi Freeman |

Hey all, thanks for thinking of me!
Azadi is still all set up from recruitment and I could hop in right in as soon as I get caught up, if you want… I do see, however, that you lost your arcane caster and the other Dex based combatant picked up trapfinding… I can build an new arcane caster instead if you want? I’m kind of busy at work right now, so it could take a couple of day, but I don’t mind putting in the work if you’d all like?

Yasmin al Akbar |

Yup, definitely believe in the philosophy of play what you want! I’m perfectly happy un-picking up disable device or keeping it. And happy to have a fighter investigator or something castery.

Azadi Freeman |

Lol- I was hoping for some more specific feedback. I offered to switch because I would enjoy playing either, but I wasn’t (and still am not) sure if that was even an option or if I need to stick with the character I pitched. I haven’t actually built anything (and probably won’t until the GM weighs in on whether a switch would be acceptable) but I have an idea for an alchemist/wizard who would be sort of a sage and utility/problem solver type that I can put together fairly quickly if we want to go that direction?

Anovat |

I think we've got plenty of melee and divine. Arcane would be beneficial, but so would the skills brought from an investigator. Azadi has a pretty good Disable Device, which is the key thing I personally like from a skill-focused character.
I keep trying to make a recommendation, but I keep waffling back and forth. I actually enjoy playing in parties that are deficient in one area, because it forces the party to be resourceful and sometimes leads to some unexpected twists and turns.
Ultimately, I think you should just go with whichever character you're most excited about playing. Which echoes what Javell and Azadi have said.

Yasmin al Akbar |

Looks like you have absolute freedom, Azadi! To me, the funny thing is that you could literally keep the same stat array you have and make your alchemist-wizard. And I think you could keep the exact same background.

Anovat |

Azadi has a pretty good Disable Device, which is the key thing I personally like from a skill-focused character.
Whoops. I said "Azadi," but I meant to say "Yasmin." While Azadi does have a good bonus in that skill, the point of my comment was to indicate that we'd still have someone with that skill should Azadi change builds.
