It's your hide, Brother... then Djack considered his choice of words. Sorry, you know what I mean.

Let's go.

"I can call forth a spirit to investigate on our behalf, no risk to ourselves." Yoltzin points out, maintaining the quiet tone.

Amideo adjusts armor and shield, making sure his sword is easily accessible in it’s sheathe. Though less perceptive than some, he made up for it with trained skill in battle.

I do not understand your pact with the spirits but, out of respect perhaps... I would wait until we absolutely need them.

He was reaching, unsure the exact nature of the spirit caller's bargain with those from elsewhere.

Djack strides forward towards the noise, hands empty.

Hmm, how exciting. Chinuye voice might be a whisper but you can still hear the giddy excitement radiating from her. Let's hope it's some kind of exotic beast.

I guess we are approaching quietly then? Sounds like Rocko and Djack are in front with Amideo close behind.

When we get to within 10 feet or so, Rocko will call out,

"Hello there."

EDIT: and add - Kaki will do what Kaki feels like doing. Rocko still has trouble remembering the raven is even around.

Male Human (Polish Jew/Native American/Irish) Techie 7/Martial Artist 2

At the point where Rocko calls out, two things happen:

First, Three large, muscular trolls jump out from where the noise was coming from. The melee contingent is still safely out of range, but barely.

Second, a crossbow bolt flies forth from around the other side of the butte to the east...

1d20 + 7 ⇒ (17) + 7 = 24
2d8 ⇒ (5, 5) = 10
1d2 ⇒ 2

...striking Chaucair for 10 HP damage.

Roll for Initiative
Trolls: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (10) + 4 = 14

Initiative: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3

Yes but...let's pop over to the Discussion thread

So much for not having a shield out. That will be first thing on the agenda as soon as Rocko gets a chance.

initiative: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (15) + 2 = 17

Female Wild Elf Cleric 6 | HP 46/48| AC:16/T:12/F:16 | F/W/R: |+6/+5/+8 | 1st 4(1)/4(1), 2nd 3(1)/3(1), 3rd 2(1)/2(1)| C: 3d6 1/4

Male Human (Polish Jew/Native American/Irish) Techie 7/Martial Artist 2

Amideo: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7

For the new players: I do initiative in blocks based on the opponents' initiative. Everyone who goes before the opponent, then the opponent, then everyone after the opponent. Saves us waiting for one person to post.

Initiative Order:
Segment 1: Yoltzin, Rocko, Chaucair
Segment 2: Trolls
Segment 3: Djack, Amideo, Chinuye

Yoltzin, Rocko, Chaucair may act. Opponents except the crossbow troll are flat footed.

"Oh, it is on, you slugs!"

Rocko will pull his axe out, then his shield. He'll move a step closer to the nearest troll, but that's his limit for now.

I remember pulling out and readying a shield is a standard action, but I can't remember if it provokes an attack of op.

See my replies there.

Chaucair casts Grease on the two trolls on the right. The troll on the front remains standing, while the one behind it on the right slips and falls to the ground.

Yoltzin may act. Assume Chaucair relayed the info about fire/acid.

They were flat-footed, so irrelevant.

Ah yes, forgot about that

Taking note of the sudden appearance of trolls, and upon hearing the warning of their weaknesses, readies to call fourth a favored spirit of her deity. Intoned with her evlish chant was the first request, to bring fierce fire upon the troll unforchante enough to have been downed.

So there it was that a small mote of twisting flames took shape in the form of a dog upon the grease, and tore into the troll like a wild beast.

Elemental HP: 2d10 + 4 ⇒ (6, 10) + 4 = 20

Slam: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (10) + 6 = 16
Damage: 1d4 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3 DC 11 reflex to resist 1d4 ⇒ 1 rounds of Burn

Kind've an awful showing there, little elemental...

Male Human (Polish Jew/Native American/Irish) Techie 7/Martial Artist 2

1d20 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6 (the fallen troll will take 1 burn next round).

Trolls action.

The troll to the east with the crossbow spends the round reloading his massive crossbow.

The one closest to Rocko makes his attacks:
1d20 + 8 ⇒ (12) + 8 = 20 MISS
1d8 + 5 ⇒ (7) + 5 = 12
1d20 + 8 ⇒ (2) + 8 = 10 MISS
1d6 + 5 ⇒ (6) + 5 = 11
1d20 + 8 ⇒ (15) + 8 = 23 HIT
1d6 + 5 ⇒ (4) + 5 = 9

The rear right troll (the one who's fallen) attempts to stand:
1d20 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6
He fails comically, and falls on his a$$, also provoking an attack of opportunity from Yoltzin's elemental.

The final troll moves from the back, carefully around both the grease and the fire elemental, to stop just short of Amideo.

Djack, Amideo, and Chinuye may act in Round 1.

Female Wild Elf Cleric 6 | HP 46/48| AC:16/T:12/F:16 | F/W/R: |+6/+5/+8 | 1st 4(1)/4(1), 2nd 3(1)/3(1), 3rd 2(1)/2(1)| C: 3d6 1/4

Ah, s@&$. good point.

Amideo steps towards the troll that Rocko's attacking. With a mighty swing of his blade, he cleaves into the beast with all his might.

Djack seems at a loss, unsure what to do.

Everything seemed to be working against him in this particular instance. What to do?

Moving South and East, draws his bow and tries to use the tree for cover as he shoots at the Troll with a crossbow.

atk, xb troll, bow: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (14) + 7 = 21
dmg, xb troll, bow: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5

I'll go ahead and post Rocko's round 2 attacks so we're not waiting on me.

With the fight afoot, Rocko will start chopping. And smashing too, gotta remember the smashing. He knows fire would be better, but a gnoll's gotta use what he's got.

battleaxe attack: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (1) + 9 = 10
damage if hit: 1d8 + 5 ⇒ (1) + 5 = 6

shield bash: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (5) + 8 = 13
damage if hit: 1d4 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3

He also calls out, "Spizz, some of that fire would be mighty helpful ..." before doing a double take and muttering, 'Oh, right.'

well crap, all four of those rolls add up to a miss. Looks like the dice are up to their old shenanigans. I have to admit I'm glad Rando doesn't do critical fumbles.

Male Human (Polish Jew/Native American/Irish) Techie 7/Martial Artist 2

Amideo hits the creature so hard it is stunned, unable to attack the following round.

Djack's arrow is a solid strike, but the wound begins to heal quickly.

Chinuye may act in Round 1

Human Male uRogue 6 | HP 57/57 | AC19/T14/F15 | Saves F+4/R+9/W+3 | Perc +10/+14 hidden-secret | Init +4

Djack heard something sickly, and with his head on a swivel asks,How's it going over there? Everyone OK?

Chinuye's excited demeanor shifts to disappointment at the sight of the trolls. Taking out a small vial of ground minerals, Chinuye mutters a few words of magic, weaving together a spell. A shining blanket of dust covers the two trolls on the left.

Glitterdust: DC 17 (will negates) blinded for 4 rounds (may make a new save at the end of their turn).

Male Human (Polish Jew/Native American/Irish) Techie 7/Martial Artist 2

Lower Left Troll: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (20) + 3 = 23
Upper Left Troll: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9 Blinded

Top of Round 2.
Yoltzin, Rocko, and Chaucair may act.

Currently, the troll in front of Rocko/Amedio is stunned, the one behind it is blinded by Glitterdust and prone from grease.

Combat map updated.

For the first time, you hear Chaucair break out in song!

Oh what an irksome day,
Trolls should just go away.
Now I de-siiiire,
to burn them with fire.
Pour on the ac-cid
Until they're all dead!
That will bring pleasure,
And maybe tre-ea-sure."

Holding on Yoltzin

Rocko had already made his round 2 attacks and missed.

Female Wild Elf Cleric 6 | HP 46/48| AC:16/T:12/F:16 | F/W/R: |+6/+5/+8 | 1st 4(1)/4(1), 2nd 3(1)/3(1), 3rd 2(1)/2(1)| C: 3d6 1/4

Her small spirit, though blessed by her god and all the circumstances in the world, makes a futile bash of it's flaming paws against the grease soaked ground as the Troll manages to laboriously dodge the strike. Unperturbed by her summons' own failures, Yoltzin turns herself to face the crossbow wielding troll with an Elvish incantation on her lips. There she pulls upon it's very skeleton, attempting to yank it into taking a precarious step southward.

Attack(Prone, Chacair: 1d20 + 6 + 4 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 6 + 4 + 2 = 14 Literally all the modifiers in the world, can't help a roll of two.

1d20 + 11 ⇒ (20) + 11 = 31

The troll has no problem "shaking off" some of the damage from Boneshaker.

The crossbow troll is on ground level, not sniping from above, so nothing to fall off of.

Male Human (Polish Jew/Native American/Irish) Techie 7/Martial Artist 2

The troll near Rocko stares on in disbelief at the amount of damage Amideo did to it last round.

The blind, fallen troll crawls 5' to the northeast.

AOO from Fire Elemental:1d20 + 12 ⇒ (8) + 12 = 20
1d4 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 + 2 = 7

The final troll steps over to Amideo and slashes with his claw:
1d20 + 8 ⇒ (10) + 8 = 18 MISS
1d6 + 5 ⇒ (1) + 5 = 6

Amideo, Djack, and Chinuye may act in Round 2.

Will update map in a couple hours.

Yanking her spellbook from where it was attached to her belt, Chinuye flicks through to one of the first pages. Scanning over the spell she uses a minor invocation to quickly burn it into her mind.

Chinuye uses the quick Study exploit to replace prestidigitation with acid splash, spending a point from her arcane reservoir.

I'm not being effective, here... I need to help over there.

Djack's strike pierces the creature's hide deep, and it cries out in a horrid scream.

Male Human (Polish Jew/Native American/Irish) Techie 7/Martial Artist 2

Amideo's action in Round 2.

Amideo keeps up the pressure on the troll, attacking the one that he's flanking with Djack.

Male Human (Polish Jew/Native American/Irish) Techie 7/Martial Artist 2

Amideo's attack is a solid hit.

BARDIC PERFORMANCE CONTINUES

Male Human (Polish Jew/Native American/Irish) Techie 7/Martial Artist 2

With Chaucair's spell, Yoltzin manages to hit the crossbow troll solidly.

Rocko's action.

"If'n I chop hard enough, you WILL go down!"

Rocko will put his strength behind a vicious chop followed up by an equally forceful smash.

battleaxe power attack: 1d20 + 7 + 2 - 2 ⇒ (19) + 7 + 2 - 2 = 26
damage if hit: 1d8 + 5 + 2 + 4 ⇒ (7) + 5 + 2 + 4 = 18

shield power smash: 1d20 + 6 + 2 - 2 ⇒ (10) + 6 + 2 - 2 = 16
damage if hit: 1d4 + 2 + 2 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 2 + 2 + 4 = 12

I'm not sure I have the bonuses correct. Please adjust as necessary. This time around I split off the bardic performance as a bonus instead of putting it in the two weapon attack base bonuses.
