Sounds like a plan. I hate to see the game end, but it's been a great run with plenty of fun memories. Better to see a finish than just leave it hanging. Sorry that this has just been a wild and crazy time for me. Closed on buying a house start of the month, need to move from apartment to the house by month's end. I also have a double pace online summer class and a triple pace online summer class. I'll try to do better the next couple of months to help finish the campaign strong
FORT save: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (6) + 7 = 13 After wincing at the nasty sensation of being touched by this unnatural beast, Rocko will steel himself to strike back with a pair of full force chops. battleaxe first power attack: 1d20 + 15 - 2 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 15 - 2 + 2 = 16
battleaxe second power attack: 1d20 + 10 - 2 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 10 - 2 + 2 = 12
"Anyone be knowing best how to fight this beastie?" Not knowing what else to do, he will unleash as many attacks as he can, focusing more on number rather than power. battleaxe first attack: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (2) + 13 = 15
burning stick first attack: 1d20 + 10 - 4 ⇒ (4) + 10 - 4 = 10
battleaxe second attack: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (15) + 8 = 23
burning stick second attack: 1d20 + 5 - 4 ⇒ (2) + 5 - 4 = 3
I'm assuming the burning stick is an improvised weapon that could break? I'm going to add the -4 penalty unless it's close enough to a club to count. I'll count it as d3 if it hits, but feel free to adjust and add any fire damage as appropriate. I also left off any flanking bonus, as player is not sure this thing can be flanked.
Rocko grabs his axe and one of the heftier sticks from the fire to act as light and potentially even a makeshift weapon. "Someone be needing some help!" Rocko is pretty sure the human is the one to help, but he'll try to get a closer look to be sure as he approaches. FYI Rocko would be switched over to his hide armor for sleeping. He's got the shield slung on his back to switch to it, but for now his AC is a pretty abysmal 18.
Rocko breathes deeply of the morning, prairie air. Other terrain may have their charms, but nothing beats home. "It be a mighty fine day for travel! How about some good food to put us all in walking shape?" With just a little prodding of the fire, there's soon the perfect temp for cooking what he pulls out of his magical pack. A slight breeze keeps the fire nice and red, but also sends the scent of the cooking meat, eggs, and veggies adrift on the wind. Rocko laughs to himself as he realizes. "Well, no hiding it if anything downwind be liking steak, hash, and eggs."
Rocko frowns as he gives his rather harsh view of the situation, "Helping be nice and all, but them people need to get strong and fight for themselves, too. What good is it if we be going and kicking some tail then it gets double worse when we leave? Sure I be fine with going along, but I want to know there be a good solid plan so it be worth something."
Rocko has been listening in as he begins handing out fresh tankards to all. "Hmm, the south not be where I know best, but why the sudden fuss? I thought that be mostly open land with not much to see." After passing them out, he takes one tankard of his own and gives it a sniff. "And have a swig. Piper be wanting to know what y'all think. He be saying this batch 'good strong stuff'. You be getting first taste."
Sorry I haven't checked in recently. Busy week at work, illness running through the family, and coming up to the deadline to take care of some stuff on my dad's estate. I will try to send an updated character sheet through FB messenger later today. I will assume Rocko got the shield, modified Rosentos's armor so he could wear it comfortably without being obvious to its source, and I'll add two free cooking ranks. Honestly, I'm not sure I've ever given Rocko any traits? I'll have to look
During the downtime, Rocko doesn't exactly have any big business plans. The one thing that he's been thinking of is how the party gets food, cooks, and eats while out in the wild. As a gnoll, Rocko isn't particularly choosy, but he's noticed everyone else seems to be much happier when they can get to towns and have traditionally home prepared meals.
Yes this is bald-faced cribbed from the anime Campfire Cooking in Another World, but hey, it fits Rocko's ideals too.
Rocko blinks in disbelief at the pieces of Momo going through. There's a flutter of wings at his shoulder and the cawing equivalent of laughter. "Haw haw, should I try sending you through like that?" Rocko frowns as he adjust the various items he'd been carrying. "Just be flying through, you little cackler." Kaki lets off another cawing laugh as he soars through the magical portal ahead of Rocko
At some point Rocko would have asked Yoltzin. "I be hoping I could share with your hunter folk what we saw with these dead ones. I be willing to share my tribe's techniques in tracking and fighting dead ones if it be helping them. And maybe they can tell me a thing or two to help me, which be helping all of us."
Off to the side of the stash, a shield-sized piece of tarnished metal decoration catches Rocko's eye. It almost looks like it doesn't belong in with the other treasures. It looks similar to a decorative coat of arms of some sort, but with unusual symbols, artwork, and what might even be an unknown type of writing on it. Rocko picks it up, muttering "This might be making a good shield with some work." It instantly turns from a drab decoration into a lightweight, brightly decorated metal shield with the same exotic patterns on it. "Shikabi! Good thing Rosentos not be knowing this was here." +2 mithril heavy shield plus a glamering effect
Not having any more immediate options, Rocko is going to try to slam the handle of his axe downward right through the vampire's chest. It's brutal and a bit crude, but Rocko isn't renowned for his cleverness or subtlety. I'm going to count this as an improvised weapon (club?) and won't include the +2 that would almost certainly be localized to the blade. I will still include the favored enemy bonus. I will also count it as a two handed attack for the purposes of strength bonus. axe handle power impaling: 1d20 + 11 - 2 - 4 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 11 - 2 - 4 + 4 = 10
Rocko will step up next to the other minion vampire, hopefully so the croc is on the other side. He'll then unleash all his might on his opponent. "Time for one less Dead One" battleaxe power attack 1: 1d20 + 11 - 2 + 2 + 4 ⇒ (8) + 11 - 2 + 2 + 4 = 23
shield power smash 1: 1d20 + 9 - 2 + 2 + 4 ⇒ (16) + 9 - 2 + 2 + 4 = 29
battleaxe power attack 2: 1d20 + 6 - 2 + 2 + 4 ⇒ (5) + 6 - 2 + 2 + 4 = 15
shield power smash 2: 1d20 + 4 - 2 + 2 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 - 2 + 2 + 4 = 11
Well, if Rocko wasn't told to stop attacking, he's going to wallop that fledgling vampire as hard as he can twice with his axe. battleaxe power attack 1: 1d20 + 13 - 2 + 4 ⇒ (20) + 13 - 2 + 4 = 35
battleaxe power attack 2: 1d20 + 8 - 2 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 8 - 2 + 4 = 11
