About Yoltzin

Mythweavers Link

Background:
Borne under the thickest part of her woodland home, Yoltzin had scarcely seen the sun for much of her earliest years. She'd yearned to explore the sunlit lands beyond the canopies of her home, tempted by tales of strange round eared beings of palid skin and of beasts that walked upon two legs. Her family always warned her away from such flights of fancy, imploring her to continue her studies with their village's shaman to foster her inborne talent.

To appease her family, she'd obeyed. Her study of the religious arts had turned obsessive and eccentric as a result. Many of her pears found themselves outstretched by her apparent brilliance as she strove ever forward. On the night she'd finally been fully ordained by their shaman, she packed up her bags and slipped into the night.

Never once had she promised to stay after completing her trials.

The so-called 'Wild Elves' are an interesting people, though most civilized lands might liken them to being 'barbaric tribals' instead. Their religious customs are of particular note, as despite the emphasis they put in regards to the dead and the afterlife they are known to practice necromancy.

Xenxlotl is the patron deity followed by these so-called 'Spirit Callers', oft depicted as a black hound wreathed in flames. Chiefly, it seems he represents the vicious cycle of life and death as told through natural disasters and the recovery of nature therein after.

Not all worshipers are true necromancers, however, and instead pertain themselves to the art of summoning 'planar spirits'. Perhaps in the eyes of the Wild Elves, the acts of necromancy and summoning are one in the same.
