Onnello Ustradi |
"Blasted Rat!" Cursing as his blade splashing in the water as the rat dodges his attack Onnello turns watching it swim. Slashing again first with the sabre in his left hand, then with the sabre in his right.
studied target, attack: sawtooth sabre, studied target, two weapon fighting

Nivian Mazu |

In the close quarters of the Bilge, and with the likes of Plugg possibly paying attention, Nivian decides against bringing her crossbow, instead depending on the finely crafted dagger she found earlier - and which was easy to conceal in her clothing.
Dagger: 1d20 ⇒ 20 1d4 - 1 ⇒ (1) - 1 = 0 1 damage by grace of minimal damage rules
Dagger Crit?: 1d20 ⇒ 2
Stabbing in what seemed a perfect angle, Nivian rejoices as the blade makes contact with the rat...but that quickly turns to subtle terror when it fails to pierce the rats skin.
In frustration, she steps away, hoping her companions are more successful in dispatching these pests.
What a way to waste a Nat 20...

Hraak Rhegnaz |

Trailing his friends by a few moments, having run back to his hidden stash to retrieve his morningstar and longcoat, Hraak enters the Bilge with his weapon raised, ready to fight. However, seeing the rats uncanny ability to dart around and avoid getting hit, the half-orc is amazed at how rodents so large could move so fast.
The sailor-priest pauses to take in the fight, and then raises his free hand, saying, "Gozreh! She Who Guides the Wind and the Waves...guide us now and Bless our endeavor here, that we might rid our vessel of these hideous rats!"
Cast Bless on the party. "Bless fills your allies with courage. Each ally gains a +1 morale bonus on attack rolls and on saving throws against fear effects."

Trevor0828 |

OK, so everyone has a +1 to hit from Hraak's Bless
One of the rats attacks Hraak.
1d20 + 1 ⇒ (11) + 1 = 12
Round 2
Helgash and Onnello have gone already, so I just need actions from Hraak and Sebastion
Helgash fails to kill a second rat, but Onnello succesfully cuts the one attacking him in half.
That leaves three; one each on Hraak, Nivian, and Ioney. The one on Nivian is slightly wounded.

Hraak Rhegnaz |

Brandishing his morningstar as best he could, Hraak hauls back and swings at the nasty rat attacking him.
Attack Roll: 1d20 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 2 + 1 = 8
Possible Damage: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 2 = 10
...and while the spiked head of his weapon does land with a meaty thunk, it unfortunately misses the large creature and instead crashes into the hull of the ship.

Sebastion 0430 |

Sorry, didn't realize I was up.
Sebastion moves over to assist Nivian.
1d20 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7
I guess I don't help that much :)

Ioney -8 hp
Nivian's rat -2 hp

Onnello Ustradi |
As Onnello chops through the swimming rat, he quickly shakes his sabre in the filthy water to rinse the blood. Turning he sees the rat hiched attacking Nivian had moved on to Sebastion, he reckoned the blond man could handle himself.
Seeing that Ioney had been bitten a second time, he tells the bard, "Ioney stand still, I don't want to mess up your pretty face." He then shifts that way and studies the rat for a second, then lifting his left-handed blade, he makes a quick slashing cut at the rat. The one attacking Ioney

Ioney Dragi |

"Aah! I'm being eaten alive over here!"
Ioney takes another poke at the rat before stepping away from it in a bid for self-preservation.
Rapier: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 1 = 9
Piercing: 1d6 ⇒ 4

Hraak Rhegnaz |

Caught up in a battle of his own, Hraak calls out as he swings again at his rodent opponent, "Get behind something, Ioney! I'll heal you when I can get clear!"
Morningstar Attack: 1d20 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 2 + 1 = 8
Morningstar Damage: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 2 = 8
But, distracted by his friend's plight, Hraak again misses the rat by a large margin. "How do they move so fast??

Nivian Mazu |

With Sebastion blocking her rat from pursuing her, Nivian takes a moment to see how the others were faring.
Mostly they seemed to have the situation under control, except for the rat gnawing on Ioneys throad.
Moving so that Ioney remained between herself and the rat, Nivian touched his shoulder and infused him with positive energy to mend his wounds.
"The deep helps it's own."
Ioney, Cure Light Wounds: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 1 = 9

Sebastion 0430 |

Sebastion abandons fighting defensively to try and end the fight.
1d20 + 7 ⇒ (20) + 7 = 27
confirm crit: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (9) + 7 = 16
damage: 1d8 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5
crit damage: 1d8 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8
That worked :)

Trevor0828 |

The last of the immense rats are cut down. Now, that you have some free time away from prying eyes, you can make plans and such. Nivian can introduce her familiar so no one kills it by accident, you can take time to thoroughly search the bilges as it appears it collects a lot of junk, etc.
If you decide to search the bilges, everyone can make perception checks

Nivian Mazu |

"I don't know what you guys know about my profession. But my kind usually has a...familiar, a creature serving as link to what grants us powers. Until now, there was no proper time to do introductions, but I'd like you to meet mine...Carth, come show yourself, so none of these fine lads accidentally whack you if they spot you near me.", Nivian holds out her hand, some folds of her clothing starting to wave and wiggle a bit.
Perception Take 10: 10 + 5 = 15

Carth of Mazu |

Out of her sleeve, a tiny snake lifts up its head, looking at each of those present in turn, showing its tongue, then slithering up her arms, outside the clothes, and finding a spot on her shoulder from which to watch what is happening.

Hraak Rhegnaz |

Hraak sorts through the miscellaneous junk along with the others, not really sure what they were looking for, but he knew they'd know it when they saw it. Even so, he murmurs a small prayer to Gozreh for Guidance in his endeavors...
This spell orison imbues the subject with a touch of divine guidance. The creature gets a +1 competence bonus on a single attack roll, saving throw, or skill check. It must choose to use the bonus before making the roll to which it applies.
Perception: 1d20 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (10) + 4 + 1 = 15
When Nivian's friend makes his appearance, the half-orc blinks at the sight of the snake, cocks his head slightly, and then grins. "Not the strangest thing I've seen in the last few days, true enough. Well met indeed, Mister Carth. Welcome to our bilge crew..."

Ioney Dragi |

"Thank you, Niv. I do appreciate the healing. Does Carth want a rat or two, or should we have let her take one alive?"
Ioney will help with the search. Can't match, let alone beat, a 26, so I guess I'll roll an assist?
Perception Assist: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (16) + 5 = 21

Ioney Dragi |

Perception Assist: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (13) + 5 = 18

Nivian Mazu |

"Ha, you are welcome for the healing - and I'd rather Carth not eat rats marinated in bilge water. He can go some time between meals. Especially if he's just lazily hiding inside my clothing. But the offer is appreciated."
Nivian focuses shortly on the water, touching her fingers to the surface.
I do have Water Sense - which gives me blindsense 30 feet against creatures in the same body of water as me. I'd like to make certain there's no other rats or creatures hidden in the bilge water.
Assuming there are no other life signs: "Besides, I think there are no live rats left - though I am not sure where THOSE came from, either."

Onnello Ustradi |
After killing the rat on Ioney, Onnello raises an eyebrow as the bard only thanks the witch for healing him. Shrugging his shoulders, he fishes around in the bilge water while Nivian introduces her familiar. Nodding, he makes a mental note not to kill the little snake.
Feeling his foot kick something, he reaches down and lift up a buckler, holding it up he asks, "does anyone want this?"
As the others continue searching, he asks, "Has everyone gotten their equipment from the Quartermaster's Store?"

Helgash |

@Onnello: Helgash uses a buckler, but since he has recovered his gear I guess he should be fine.
As the others continue searching, he asks, "Has everyone gotten their equipment from the Quartermaster's Store?"
"I have" - Helgash nodded - "And well fought again" - he added.
I will keep a tindertwig, if that is ok with all.
Counting the coins, he splits them between those in the bilges.
12 gold means 2 each - enjoy! :D

Ioney Dragi |

"Yes, I have recovered my gear as well. You all did very well. I did little more than distract them with a chewy target. Thank you for the coins, but, I think the rest should go to those who were effective. Teach me to try to fight."

Onnello Ustradi |
Snorting at Ioney's comment, Onnello nods his head in agreement with Helgash, "On ship not every pirate is part of the vanguard, but all play a part. Equal shares for everyone." He smiles, knowing the way of things. "But you'll find officers and captains equal shares somehow ends up being more."
Having seen all there was to see in the bilge, Onnello points to the hatch, "Shall we?"

Hraak Rhegnaz |

"Aye, I've claimed my equipment as well." says Hraak before nodding at Onnello, "We all play a part, indeed. We work well together...and we'll have to continue doing so, if we're all to survive life aboard this ship. We may not have asked to be here, but well...we're here now."
The half-orc shrugs as if he isn't sure what else to say, and then he eyes the buckler, offering, "I suppose I'll take that, if no one else wants it."

Trevor0828 |

You spend a short time in the bildges, then return triumphant to the deck with your trophies of six dead dire rats. Plugg first looks surprised, then annoyed that you didn't suffer more. A search is conducted and it is found that the rats evidently were in some sacks of cut-rate grain that was loaded at Port Peril a few days ago (where you were shanghiaed from). The captain, pleased that the problem was handled quickly gives each of you a bonus of 10gp.
Everyone's day job goes uneventfully. Everyone can decide their evening actions now.

Ioney Dragi |

As per his thoughts from the night before, Ioney chooses to entertain the crew again. This time he focuses on a single epic story. He spins the yarn of Cayden Cailean's accidental elevation to godhood.
There's quite a bit of embellishment on his time spent in the taverns, both on his public exploits while drinking as well as his less public conquests.
Yeah, I'm gonna cheap out on this one.
Perform (Oratory): 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (5) + 13 = 18
He'll also provide a couple of songs, because how can you tell a tale of Cayden without at least a couple rounds of drinking songs?
Once things begin settling down for the night, he'll approach another of the women. This time Tilly Bracket.
"Hey, there! Tilly, wasn't it? You seem to have a taste for one of the few things Cayden would like on this boat. Is there anything else here you think would be worth his attention? Besides our lovely Captain, because how could The Lucky Drunk not pay such an imposing figure the respect he's due?"
Diplomacy: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (8) + 13 = 21 Plus the performance bonus, assuming I earned it. 18, though . . ..

Helgash |

Helgash grabs some of the gold (1,5), and pockets it with a nod.
@Ioney: I think if you need to choose between 'Entertain' or 'Influence'.
During the night, Helgash approaches Shivikah again - "Have you thought about what I asked you the other night? It is always good to have someone who will step in to help you around here" - he sat down next to the woman - "You seem like you can handle yourself, but it is never a bad idea to have extra backup is it? And as you can see, some of us seem to be doing well, so far..."
Diplomacy to Influence Shivikah further: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (20) + 3 = 23

Onnello Ustradi |
Realizing that he hadn't gotten to know many of the other 'Riggers' Onnello decided to try and rectify the situation. After returning his gear to his locker, the spent the rest of the day going about his business. But that evening, he decided to approach the only dwarf on the crew. Onnello knew Tam was a friend of Scourge's but why not approach him, besides, what could go wrong. Moving up near the dwarf, he nodded, and asked. "So how long have you been on the 'Wormwood'?
Evening action, going to convince Tam, Onnello is his bestest friend it the whole wide world. But not going to do any 'late night' activity.
diplomacy: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (10) - 1 = 9
or not :)

Nivian Mazu |

Nivian continues her pattern - spending the early evening with the friend she made the previous day, seeing if she solidify the bonds with them.
In this case, with Barefoot Samms Toppin - she'll join her on whatever activity she does the evening, and attempt to be a friend.
Diplomacy: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (9) + 1 = 10
Later that evening, not wanting to overstay her welcome, either, she approaches Tilly Brackett - one of the last female crew members that seemed indifferent to Nivian and her allies. Seeing how she befriended the others, she will focus on how girls on such ships have to stick together - lest they become victims when separated. By all means, we should all have each others backs.
Diplomacy: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (16) + 1 = 17

Ioney Dragi |

Aaaaaah.... And you don't get fatigued because of the jiggy you do in the morning, is that it?
Because the GM is a generous soul. "In one breath" he told me it doesn't work the way I was trying to use it and that he would let me get away with it if I dedicated 1/3 of my daily Bard Song to the effort.

Trevor0828 |

@ Onnello - You truly picked the worst target. Your efforts nearly get you in a serious fight with Tam and his cohorts. You get the sense that Tam will be an enemy to you for good now.
@ Nivian - You are able to make Barefoot Samms Toppin helpful to you now. Your late night actions also bear fruit as Tilly is now friendly to you.

Onnello Ustradi |

huh, you mean even if I'd done well, I probably couldn't have turned him? Darn, maybe next time I can get him to fight.... it begs the age-old question, 'Is it better to be loved or feared?' Maybe if Onnello trounces him, he'll change his mind :)

No, but the DC was 25. Also, his description says he is a long time friend of Scourge.

I had previously called out approaching Tilly for later evening interactions as well? Guessing you missed it, given how you responded to the others.

After some thought, I am considering skipping the day job stuff and just doing the event days. This part doesn't seem to translate well to PbP, and after the first few times seems to be a bit tedious. Let me know if you are OK wiith this. If so, I will change the day/night action sequence to take it into account.
