Ok, based on my last Discussion thread post, we will move forward. We just finished Day 4 and, as luck would have it, Day 5 is another event day.
One of the more intriguing members of the crew is Owlbear Hartshorn. He doesn't really do anyhting and is usually kept below decks chained near the entrance to the officers' quarters. Owlbear Hartshorn is a large man with meaty fists. He’s a bit simple, and the rest of the crew enjoys having a laugh at the poor fellow’s expense. To try to make friends, Hartshorn has taken to clowning, laughing, and crying out random phrases at the top of his voice, as this seems to make people laugh. Owlbear likes to eat live crabs, breaking the shells with his teeth and fingers, and his shaved skin still shows signs of the tarring and feathering the crew gave him as a cruel joke not so long ago.
You have been told that occasionally Plug brings him above decks in the evening when there is someone he wants killed or made an example of. This evening, Plugg and his cronies lead Owlbear onto deck just after the evening meal “for a bit of sport” and dare one of you to take him on—bare-knuckle fists or wrestling only, no magic tricks, and the last one conscious wins. To make it interesting, Plugg tosses down a purse of 100 gp as a wager on Owlbear.

Onnello Ustradi |
Raising an eyebrow as Plugg brings the simpleton above decks, Onnello turned to Halgash and nodded. Speaking under his breath as he steps forward, "I'd rather it be Plugg, but a hundred gold pieces is worth the risk." Stepping closer to Plugg and his pet, Onnello sized up the man called 'Owlbear' and asks, "What kind of odds you give? Some sidewinding son of a whore took most of my gold when I was 'recruited'."
sizing up Owlbear, perception any thing else?
perception: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (8) + 5 = 13

Sebastion 0430 |

"He looks like he hits hard, so I guess the key is to not get hit."
Sebastion says with a laugh.
"He might be slow though."
How into fighting is he? Any weaknesses?
Sense Motive: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (2) + 9 = 11

Nivian Mazu |

Nivian finds a place near some of the old crew she managed to befriend:"He looks brutish. Stupid but strong. Not the first time they do this, I'd wager? Anything worth knowing or keeping an eye out for? If Onello does go up against him, I'd prefer he knows what he's getting into..."

Trevor0828 |

Before deciding, I should point out that not only are no weapons alloed, but no armor as well. Another thing, I don't think anyone has the Unarmed Combatant feat. If Owlbear does have that feat, then your unarmed attacks will provoke AoOs from him, if not, then everything will be equal. Also, Onnello, your tag line says you have 17 hp? I think that is a misprint?
Both Onnello and Sebastion notice that Owlbear is blind in his left eye. If you are able to keep to that side, you will gain a significant defensive advantage (essentially, every round you can make an Acrobatics check, if you succeed, you automatically make Owlbear miss).

Trevor0828 |

Plugg looks at your group with barely concealed glee. At Onnello's comment, he laughs.
"Rules? I already said no weapons or magic tricks. And to make sure you aren't hiding anything, you fight just like Owlbear, shirtless. That way we can see the welts as he pounds you."
Plugg's cronies, “Narwhal” Tate among them, laugh at your group.

Ioney Dragi |

Ioney raises an eyebrow. "A fight? Against that brute? If one of you wants to give that a go, all I can say is Bless You. Even if you do have to give it a go stripped to the waist."

Onnello Ustradi |
Loath to take off his armor, Onnello ignored the laughter of Plugg's cronies. Realizing Ioney had no interest in fighting the brute Onnello looked at the others.
Moving closer to Helgash, "Helgash, your not wearing armor." Gesturing towards Owlbear, he continued. "If you fight the brute, we can make sure Plugg's cronies do not interfere." Leaning in closer he observed, "The big guy is blind in the left eye, stay to that side."
Winking at his friend he turns, resting his hand on Helgash's shoulder. "I've got twenty gold on Helgash."

Helgash |

Helgash chuckled at Onnello, getting up - "And why the hell not? I could do with some sparring" - he added.
When he took off his shirt everyone could see the extensive tattoos all over his upper torso, whirling and entwined patterns of black, as if tentacles or billowing smoke. Across his back other thing is also evident - old scars in a crisscross pattern.
"It seems I am your man" - he stepped forward, flexing his hands, shaking his arms and cracking his neck to relax some.
"Well met. I am Helgash" - he nodded at Owlbear.

Trevor0828 |

2d20 ⇒ (16, 13) = 29
Ok, Helgash wins initiative. Every round, you can make a DC10 Acrobatics check, if you succeed, Owlbear automatically misses you that round (I assume that you were told about the blind eye). Fortunately, Owlbear does not have the Unarmed Combatant feat so it is an even fight in that regard.
As Helgash steps forward and strips off his shirt, the crew gets very boisterous. There is a flurry of bets going on. Plugg, Scourge, and their cronies start making comments about how Helgash will be fish bait soon.
Helgash, you can make a Sense Motive check about Owlbear if you want.

Ioney Dragi |

Ioney steps out and starts doing his thing, modified for the situation. "And so we have it! Plugg has brought out his pet to demonstrate his might to the newcomers. The cook's mate, Helgash, scourge of the bilge, accepts the challenge and moves forward to join Owlbear in combat! Will he fold as easily as expected, or will he demonstrate he's made of stronger stuff than expected? Is Helgash the same kind of weakling I am, or is he a warrior ready and capable to go take some booty?"
Yep, I'm going to go for color commentary as an Oratory performance. Oh, and if I slip in some Inspire Courage starting in the second round or so . . ..

Helgash |

Helgash grunted as his opponent did not even answer - "Ok then..."
Sense Motive: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (12) + 5 = 17
Chuckling at Ioney's words, the half-orc moved around Owlbear, measuring him for a few seconds, keeping in mind what Onnello has just told him.
Acrobatics: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (19) + 7 = 26
Then he simply stroke forward with a quick jab.
Jab: 1d20 + 3 + 1 + 1 - 1 - 1 ⇒ (17) + 3 + 1 + 1 - 1 - 1 = 20
Damage if it hits: 1d3 + 3 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 3 + 1 = 7
------
Status:
HP: 12/12
AC: 15
Effects: Using Power Attack, Using combat Expertise, will use Opportune Parry and Riposte if hit.

Onnello Ustradi |
Raising an eyebrow at Lonegan's answers, he'd seen Halgash fight and chuckles at the pirates confidence. Moving closer to Syl, he opens his pouch and shows her the color of his money, asking, "My place? I'm from Ilizmagorti, anyplace is better than there."
Seeing Helgash step to the right into the big man's blind spot then jab quickly hitting hard, Onnello chuckles again. Turning to Syl, he asks, "You want to up the wager? I don't have any more money, but we could work something else out."
Just a little flirtation, with a whole serving of 'plausible deniability,' just Trying to sort Syl out, find out what makes her tick.
sense motive: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (2) + 6 = 8 Booooo

Helgash |

Helgash, you think that the big man doesn't really understand what a fight is, he thinks it's a game.
Helgash successfully evades Owlbear's swing and lands a solid punch. You're up again.
Btw, what's the extra +1 for?
That was a mistake. Apologies. I copy pasted from a previous fight when Ioneu used Inspire Courage :/
The half-orc continues moving around Owlbear, trying to stay on the side where the big man has poor vision.
Acrobatics: 1d20 + 7 + 1d6 ⇒ (2) + 7 + (3) = 12 < Burning one Panache point to add to Acrobatics.
And he throws another jab.
Jab: 1d20 + 3 + 1 - 1 - 1 ⇒ (18) + 3 + 1 - 1 - 1 = 20
Damage if it hits: 1d3 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4
------
Status:
HP: 12/12
AC: 15
Panache: 3/4
Effects: Using Power Attack, Using combat Expertise, will use Opportune Parry and Riposte if hit.

Nivian Mazu |

Nivian watches the fight, disapprovingly. Not because it was cruel entertainment, but because it was clearly intended to drive a wedge between the "newcomers" and the existing crew.
When Nivian had tried so hard to build some bridges, to find common ground. There were few reasons she could think of why officers would want their crew divided, and most were not pleasant.

Onnello Ustradi |
Snorting as Syl remained quiet about his comment, Onnello, frowns in disbelief as Plugg, kicks the club to the big oaf. Calling out "Bad Form!" He looks at the female rigger, "So that's how you expect to win? Cheating?" His eyes begin to look to and fro, discreetly searching for anything he could toss Helgash to even the odds.
Anything just laying around, or tucked in anyone's belt he could grab and toss Helgash?
perception: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (12) + 5 = 17

Helgash |

"Are you sure you want to play it like that?" - Helgash spat - "Let's do it then..." - he added, continuing to circle Owlbear.
Acrobatics: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (20) + 7 = 27
Jab: 1d20 + 3 + 1 - 1 - 1 ⇒ (7) + 3 + 1 - 1 - 1 = 9
Damage if it hits: 1d3 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5
So, assuming the Acrobatics helps me avoid the 'normal attack', I think I can use Oportune Parry and Riposte to try and block the AoO? If so, that is what I will do in case he scores a hit (maybe he misses :P).
------
Status:
HP: 12/12
AC: 15
Panache: 3/4
Effects: Using Power Attack. Using Combat Expertise.

Trevor0828 |

At Onnello's comment, Plugg's cronies laugh uproarously. When Onnello starts looking for a weapon for Helgash, Plugg's face darkens and he wags his finger at you.
"You toss him a weapon and you'll both be up for lashing."
AoO: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (6) + 5 = 11
Helgash continues to dodge Owlbear's swings, ducking under his club, Helgash delivers another jab, landing another solid blow. After this hit, Owlbera begins to cry and tries to back away, but Plugg and his cronies push him back into the circle. Owlbear drops the club and covers his face, mewling like a hurt kitten.

Onnello Ustradi |
Glaring at Plugg, Onnello marks this moment in his memory. Nodding his chin, not in recognition of Pluggs threat, but of the moment in time Plugg became a dead man.
Turning to Helgash, he chuckles, "Well done Helgash." Returning his attention back to Syl he gives a light smile and extending his hand. "Twenty gold please."

Trevor0828 |

You notice that Captain Harrigan is on the poop deck watching, having apprently come up while everyone was watching the fight. He gives Helgash an almost respectful nod. Plugg, is furious, but noticing the captain, throws the bag of gold at Helgash's feet and stalks away. All other bets are settled as well (apparently, such things are sacrosanct on a pirate ship, and with the captain watching no one dares to welsh on a bet).
Owlbear suppresses some sniffles and looks at Helgash with what appears to be genuine appreciation before being shackled and roughly dragged away by Plugg.
Btw, I think it's hilarious that Onnello has decided to atangonize the psychotic murderer, Lonegan. Helgash, you now have a permanent +2 to influence any of the crew.

Ioney Dragi |

Not sure how I missed the posts from the fight through the weekend, but I never saw 'em. <pout>
"Helgash ducks under Owlbear's left arm, landing a solid jab in the bigger man's ribs! Owlbear turns, trying to get the quicker man to stay in front of him, but he ducks to his right again, reaching up to connect with another jab to the bigger man's jaw! As the two circle for position, Owlbear stumbles on a club laying on the deck! Where did that come from? He turns and brings it to bear on the cook's mate, who easily dodges the club, popping up almost behind the big man and landing ANOTHER hit, this time near the kidneys! And that's the fight, folks! The big man is submitting, asking for the beating to stop! Helgash has shown he's mighty enough to deserve a spot on the crew!"
I had indicated my intent to provide Inspire Confidence, not that Helgash needed ANY help!
Perform (oratory): 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (11) + 13 = 24

Sebastion 0430 |

Not sure how I missed the posts from the fight through the weekend, but I never saw 'em. <pout>
I had the same problem, I thought everyone had just taken the weekend off. It didn't show the usual "new comments" for some reason? I also, noticed the same in my other game.
Sebastion watches the fight, mainly to judge Helgash's style. Owlbear looked scary, but he was too clumsy to be a real threat, although even the clumsy get lucky sometimes and Owlbear looked like he only needed to get lucky once. Sebastion notices the dark look that Lonegan gives Onnello.
That one will be a problem, we better watch our backs.

Onnello Ustradi |
Chuckling at Helgash's comment as he scoops up his winnings, Onnello extends his hand accepting the money from 'Sly.' Weighing the coins in his hand, he quickly drops it in his pouch. Smiling at the glaring rigger he tells her. "a pleasure doing business with you." He winks at her as he turns to go, "Let me know if you want to earn any of it back."
Watching her from the corner of his eye as he moves away, he nears Helgash as the swashbuckler is putting his shirt back on. Congratulating his friend. "Well done Helgash."
Lowering his voice he continues, giving a wolfish smile. "I think I've upset another one of Plugg's pets. After this I'm going to start wearing my swords. If anyone asks, I'm going to tell them I borrowed the money from you to get them out of hock. Ok?"
Nodding to Helgash, Onnello heads towards the hatch. True to his words, he heads below decks to his locker and straps his blades on.

Helgash |

"Deal" - Helgash nodded at Onnello - "But do you think being able to carry blades around is only a matter of paying for it?" - he added in private - "For some reason I was under the impression they did not take it lightly for us scrubs to be walking around armed. That is why I only carry this" - he nodded at the dagger in his boot.

Sebastion 0430 |

Sebastion comes up on Helgash and Onnello.
"I see you've made a frined."
He says as he nods toward Lonegan.
Responding to Helgash's comment.
"I don't think we could get away with carrying our swords, I most defintely will not allow them to see I have my family sword back, but everyone is wearing knives of some sort or another. I think we can get away with those."

Helgash |

"You are probably right" - Helgash nodded at Sebastian - "But we really should ask around. I am ok with a dagger, but I feel naked without my blade" - he added to both of them - "If you boys have made any connections, ask them what is the rule for weapon carrying around here, for new grunts like us? I will do the same"

Trevor0828 |

Asking around, you find that no one carries a sword while working (except officers), but every one is expected to have some sort of knife as it is practically required for work. Some of the crew actually carry several small blades. Swords and such are stored in lockers or the armory to be handed out for boarding actions.

Trevor0828 |

The next morning, both Ioney and Nivian awake with a severe fever.
Dex: 1d3 ⇒ 2
Con: 1d3 ⇒ 1
You both take 2 Dex damage and 1 Con damage. Make Fort saves vs disease.
They are still expected to work. The next three days pass in the usual tasks, but the end of the 3rd day sees a worsening of the weather.
I will assume that Hraak and anyone else that wants to make heal checks aid Ioney and Nivian in recovery (they need to make a DC12 Heal check). If anyone makes the Heal check, both of them geta +4 modifier to their Fort saves.

Sebastion 0430 |

Heal checks to help Ioney and Nivian. I'll do three nights in a row.
Heal: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4
Heal: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4
Heal: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3
LOL! Well, at least I got those out of the way before combat.

Onnello Ustradi |
Rolling his eyes at Sebastions warning, Onnello is surprised when the brave Helgash agrees with the blond fighter. Giving in to peer pressure, Onnello leaves his sabres in his locker, but keeps his smaller blades at hand.
Spending the next three days watching the other riggers, Onnello attempts to befriend Ratline again but realizes the halfling isn't having any so he begins speaking with Barefoot Samms.
diplomacy: Ratline: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (8) - 1 = 7 I believe this makes him unfriendly to Onnello
diplomacy: Barfoot Samms: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (12) - 1 = 11 nope
diplomacy: Barefoot Samms: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (12) - 1 = 11 nope
in a desire not to take days doing the 'next three days' I attempted to work it out as best as I could. If this doesn't work, let me know what to change. I took somethings for granted like the stealth and perception rolls, as well as taking 10 or 20 on traps or locks.
First night
Deciding it was worth the risk, Onnello decides to sneak into the Store again, this time removing his armor before he heads that way. Waiting till it seemed everyone was asleep he Sneaks into the Storehouse keeping a keen eye out. I believe the 16 gets him past everyone?
Once inside he moves to the metal trunk where he had rearmed the dart trap. Aking the time to disable the dart trap 24 should do it.
Remembering he was not able to pick the lock quickly last time, he settles own and takes his time. Taking longer than he'd wanted, he eventually opens the trunk, hoping what was inside was worth it.
stealth: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (13) + 3 = 16
perception: room: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (4) + 5 = 9
disable device on the dart trap he found last time. : 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (14) + 10 = 24
Taking 20(30) on disable device to unlock the metal trunk
Second night
Pleased that he was able to open the metal trunk, the second night Onnello again, leaving his armor in his sea chest sneaks over to the storehouse, keeping a keen eye out as he goes. This time he will attempt to open the Wooden trunk, first searching it and then dealing with any possible traps or locks. Once the trap is dealt with, he will again take his time opening the lock on the Wooden trunk.
stealth: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (12) + 3 = 15
perception: room: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (7) + 5 = 12
perception: searching trunk for traps: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (19) + 5 = 24
Hmmm he should be able to take 10(20) on disable device for traps and take 20(30) on disable device for locks.
Third night
Pleased that he'd been able to sneak into the storehouse the previous nights, Onnello decided to leave his armor in his sea chest and sneak over again, keeping a keen eye out as he goes. Again, Besmara was with him, and he was able to get into the storeroom. Deciding to attempt opening the wooden chest with the broken lock, he inspects it first, and then goes to work.
stealth: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (20) + 3 = 23
perception: room: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (20) + 5 = 25
perception: searching chest for traps: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (11) + 5 = 16
Hmmm I don't think a 16 on perception will allow him to see a trap, if it does he should be able to take 10(20) on disable device for traps then take 20(30) on disable device for locks.

Ioney Dragi |

Fort DC ??: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (17) + 1 = 18
I REALLY hope that's good enough, ya know?
Barroom Talespinner based Knowledge (local) DC 15: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (20) + 6 = 26
Really not sure if the +1 is supposed to apply for a week or just the one day. I will NOT include it past the first of the 3 rolls, and you can add it if both appropriate and it matters for the result.
Diplomacy to try to befriend Shivikah: 1d20 + 13 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 13 + 1 = 22
Diplomacy to try to befriend Badger (again): 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (10) + 13 = 23
Diplomacy to try to befriend Barefoot Samms Toppin: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (3) + 13 = 16
Not Ioney's best work . . ..

Trevor0828 |

Onnello has some productuve nights. The first night he successfully opens the metal trunk. The second night you successfully open the wooden trunk (which had no trap). The third night, you set off an arrow trap, but successfully get into the chest.
1d20 + 15 ⇒ (10) + 15 = 25
damage: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 1 = 8
Here is a list of the items you see, let me know what you take. Also, I am assuming you couldn't detect magic, but after you decide what you take, we can see what's magic.
Metal Trunk:
A very nice dagger, shortsword, and warhammer. several scrolls and a wand.
Wooden Trunk (this is more like a large wardrobe cabinet):
Contains a suit of banded mail, a breastplate, two chain shirts, masterwork leather armor, three suits of studded leather armor, 12 bucklers, two masterwork bucklers, and a small cash box containing 231 cp, 99 sp, and 103 gp.
Wooden Chest:
Contains a nice light crossbow, three cutlasses (see Pirates of the Inner Sea), 31 daggers, three nice daggers, 43 nice darts, four saps, a nice sap, 120 arrows, 20 nice arrows, six nice arrows, and 200 crossbow bolts.

Helgash |

Can those Heal rolls to Aid be made untrained? Helgash has no Heal skill.
Enjoying the good moment after the fight against Owlbear, Helgash comes a little more out of his shell.
Most of his time is still spent in the kitchen (Never got a chance to make Nivia admit my cooking was good :P) - he enjoys the peace and quiet down there, but now every once in a while he roams around the ship, engaging others in conversation.
Diplomacy to befriend Samms: 1d20 + 3 + 2 ⇒ (17) + 3 + 2 = 22
Diplomacy to befriend Rosie Cusswell: 1d20 + 3 + 2 ⇒ (17) + 3 + 2 = 22
Diplomacy to befriend Jack Scrimshaw: 1d20 + 3 + 2 ⇒ (9) + 3 + 2 = 14
No night actions, apart from some banter with Sandara (if she is around), and sleep.

Onnello Ustradi |
Having returned from the first night of 'thievery' Onnello showed the very nice dagger, shortsword, and warhammer, scrolls and wand to his new friends. Smiling he asks, looking at Ioney, Nivian and Sandara. "I found these weapons, scrolls and wands, laying around, can anyone tell if the weapons are magical or what the scrolls and wands are for?" Smilng at the others he asks, "I think I may find more stuff laying around, does anyone need anything in particular?"
it looks like our 'armor' wearers have either lammellar armor or chain shirts, does anyone need or want different armor?
--------------------------------
After the second night Onnello quietly shows off the new leather armor and two fancy bucklers, Asking the group, "Anyone fancy a new buckler or leather armor?"
--------------------------------
After the third night Onnello shows everyone the 'nice' weapons he'd found. Keeping the sap for himself, he holds out to the daggers offering them to whoever wants them, asking the magic users. "Are an these daggers or arrows magical." Then he frowns, pointing to the broken arrow in his side, his eyes settling on the priestess of Besmara. "Could anyone heal this arrow wound?"
