Witch's Winter Holiday

First off, thank you all for being willing to come on an adventure with me! Now, to business.

Expectations

- I will post every day. I hope everyone can post every weekday and at least once over the weekend, but stuff happens - which leads me to:
- I will bot you if we haven't heard from you in 24 hours. Please include botting instructions in your character profile, or I will have to get creative in the most entertaining (for me) way possible. Please also let me know if you are expecting an extended period of absence so I can PM you and preemptively hash out major decision points to keep the story moving. On a related note:
- I will make "reactive" rolls to keep the story moving along. If you want to make a roll as part of an action/decision/etc, please do so. I might modify the skill used or add circumstantial bonuses/penalties based on circumstances. Which brings me to my final point:
- I will happily add circumstantial bonuses (or penalties) for roleplaying. I hope, for example, that you will accompany your diplomacy check with what your character is actually saying. It makes it so much easier for me to respond if you give me material, and we make such a more fulfilling and exciting story together.
If you're worried or concerned about any of these expectations, or about anything related to this game, post it here or PM me. We can figure something out so you have a good time.

We’ll be using block initiative during encounters. Actions will be resolved in the order that they were posted in. While this can do some weird things with a single character acting "twice" before another, it is easier for both players and GM to track the sequence of events this way. I highly encourage posting tactics such as:

Example wrote:

McSwordFace waits until her friend Blessings Galore has a chance to cast a buff before she attacks the horrible people kicking puppies.

Sword of Justice: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (8) + 5 = 13 (+ buff if applicable)
Justice damage: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (7) + 3 = 10 (+ buff if applicable)

I will happily calculate the final result in these cases. This helps us work effectively as a team even if posting schedules don’t line up in a beneficial way.

If your post is entirely out of character (OOC), let’s put it here instead of in the Gameplay thread.

About Me: I’ve done a bit of PFS and PbP GMing, but I am certainly not perfect. If you have ideas for how I could do something better, a disagreement with a decision, or confusion over what I’m saying, please let me know via the Discussion thread or PM.

For your first post here, please use the Reply option on the following post, delete the [quote'] tags, and fill in the provided fields. And be sure to pop over to the Gameplay thread and introduce your character!

If you use lots of mental things, let her know so she knows who to target with bon mot to weaken their will saves for you! In combat she'll try to use her dueling cape to boost her AC and bonus to feint in one hand and dagger or knuckle duster in the other.

Hello Table GM and Players,
I am about to add a table of three at levels 1-2 to our game. If they do not have a fourth sign up before gameday, would someone be willing to swap tables to improve the balance?
I certainly do not want to be disruptive of this table but would like to improve the overall experience for everyone.

Please PM me if you are willing to move if needed.

Thank you.

Envoy's Alliance

male Human Champion 1 Ini +5 HP 20/20 AC 16 Fort +7 Ref+3 Will +7 spd 25 per +5

I can switch tables if needed, GM.

A small question for more experienced players: I have 22 GP, what kind of useful equipment can I buy? I do have a minor healing potion already

Horizon Hunters

For a low level Champion? A Potency Crystal makes sense.

Adventuring stuff like any of the following:
Adventurer's Pack
Tent (pup)
Knotted silk rope and grappling hook
Climbing Kit

1st level scrolls that you might want someone else to cast on you, like Heal. Better than a minor healing potion if between combats.

Witch's Winter Holiday

Thanks for being willing to help Cassimon! It looks like there's already 5 folks signed up for that game, so no need for anyone to switch tables at this time. Woo!

Slides are up! Please take a minute to fill out the info on slides 2 and 3, then hop on over to Gameplay to introduce yourself. We'll get kicking things off in a few days on Sunday/Monday!

Just fyi to all that I will be out of town for most of the first week of this game. The GM is already aware that Otha will be botting my character in combat. With luck I'll be able to post a few times, but considering where I'll be I expect my internet to be really bad.

Thank you again Hawthwile for letting me do this and Otha for helping so much!

Actually, no! It's a real place; I saw the name on a map once and found it very amusing :)

Also, with the exception of my 1e hunter, I always name my leshy characters after real places:

Soddy-Daisy

Willow Grove

Wow, I didn’t know it was a real place; in the Beverly Hillbillies sitcom, Bugtussle, Tennessee was the fictional hometown of the Clampetts, where they struck it rich with “Texas tea.”

Apologies. I had not conveyed this yet.

Ovidio has a +2 to his Initiative (so +10).
Bugtussle has the same thing.

Looking at the Initiative block, it doesn't matter since Ovidivo would only have tied the ghost.

Witch's Winter Holiday

Whoops! Alanossë, it's not yet your turn to act again, but we can hold onto those rolls for when that happens. Also, you'll have one more action - once you enter a stance, you don't leave it until you violate its conditions. For Point-Blank Shot, you'll stay in the stance until either the encounter ends or you drop your bow (whichever comes first). Does that make sense?

(Gonna be honest here, I forgot they had this reaction when I resolved stuff earlier. XD)

Well, technically, they hadn't had a turn to gain reactions yet, so probably the actual way.

Witch's Winter Holiday

That's a difference from 1st edition - there's nothing preventing you from using reactions before your first turn in an encounter (unless the GM decides otherwise due to a combatant being surprised or something similar).

Human (Varisian) Gunslinger 3 | HP 35/35 | AC 20 | F +8 R +11 W +8 | Perc +8 | Stealth +9 | 25 ft | Hero 1/3 | ◆ | ◇ | ↺ | Active Conditions: incredible initiative, feather step, wary disarmament

Well, ah, that's actually the opposite... the GM decides if you can use reactions before your first turn. So you're well within your right to determine that the NPCs could use their reactions, but that's not default.

Reactions, CRB wrote:

Your reactions let you respond immediately to what’s happening around you. The GM determines whether you can use reactions before your first turn begins, depending on the situation in which the encounter happens.

Once your first turn begins, you gain your actions and reaction. . .

There are a few features that don't work unless you have a reaction before your turn, like Battle Oracle's focus spell that is a reaction triggered off of rolling initiative, but that doesn't mean every Fighter can take an AOO before their turn as the general rule.

Just an FYI. The cruise has been extended for two more days (till Saturday) since the hurricane closed down the port till then; the internet was knocked out most of yesterday and the bandwidth is pretty heavy on board today. How is the enfeebled condition removed or is it just for a given amount of time. Some conditions require and action to get rid of them and some don't, so I'm curious. Perhaps a treat poison check is required, though the skill only says it grants a bonus to the next ST?

Is Escape just one action?

It's 1-action with the Attack trait, so your subsequent attacks would apply the Multiple Attack Penalty as if you had made an attack.

You can also attempt Escape more than once in your turn, if necessary, though it becomes harder and harder as the MAP adds up.

Enfeebled is one of the conditions that uses Duration to determine when the condition ends. For these creatures' poison, it's 1 round (though continued failures on the saving throw will result in the condition being re-applied each round for the duration of the poison).

Witch's Winter Holiday

It's time to pass out some Hero Points! Who do you think has done an outstanding job in any of the following fields? Feel free to nominate multiple folks!

- Who has been an outstanding team player?
- Who has done something awesome?
- Who has made your day better with what they wrote in their post?
- Who has pulled you into the game world with their roleplay?

Or if you think someone deserves a Hero Point for another reason, say so here!

So far I've loved the RP from everyone in this group. I've been able to play off everything so far!

So the only things I can highlight that stand out for me?

- Alanossë covered/botted me for a whole week when I was in middle-of-nowhere with no internet.
- This post by Ovidio made me laugh WAY too hard.

If it were up to me I'd nominate everyone else besides me for one otherwise.

Sorry, I was late getting to this…

I’ve enjoyed playing with everyone; Relia’s flirty repertoire and bold moves, Ovidivo shooting quips and bullets alike, Cassimon being a meat shield for us more non-melee types, and playing with a pistol-packing plant pistolero (Bugtussle) is just an awesome thing. And BK’s role playing was over the top as it fit so perfectly with both his name and his avatar/icon, not to mention his IC performances were timely for several of my attacks…

Accessory Perks

You're right that they removed the Glyph association.

Quote:

Pathfinder Society (second edition)

In the Pathfinder Society (second edition) program, the following benefits are offered for each accessory category. A player may not benefit from more than one of these per session, with the exception of the Campaign Coin benefit.

Vestments: When you use a Hero Point to reroll a check, add a +1 circumstance bonus to the reroll.

Witch's Winter Holiday

Thank you all for being fun, lovely folks to play with! Chronicle sheets for this adventure can be downloaded here. Please look them over, let me know that you got yours, and also let me know if anything needs to be corrected.

Also, I'd love to hear your feedback on my running of the game so I can improve as a GM - what was fun, what was frustrating, what was meh, what was exciting, etc. You can let me know here or via PM.

I'll keep this campaign active for about a week or until I've seen that everyone has their Chronicle sheet.
