Deathless Vitality (Ex) Khendai is immune to disease, and they
neither breathe nor suffer the normal environmental effects
of being in a vacuum. They gain a +2 racial bonus to saving
throws against ability damage, ability drain, bleed, death
effects, energy drain, exhaustion, fatigue, negative levels,
paralysis, poison, sleep, and stunning. In addition, effects that
heal the living heal Khendai. Khendai needs to eat and drink.
Grave Touch (Su) Khendai imparts the leech critical hit effect
(Starfinder Armory 31) to any melee weapon they wield, but
the duration of the effect is 1d4 rounds. In addition, when
a creature fails its save against this leech critical hit effect,
Khendai recovers 4 Hit Points. If the weapon already has a
critical hit effect, Khendai must choose which to apply on a
critical hit.
Weaknesses deathless weakness, silver susceptibility
Deathless Weakness (Ex) Khendai can be raised from the dead
and always returns as a varculak. When dying, Khendai must
spend 1 additional Resolve Point (maximum 4) to stabilize
and stay in the fight (Core Rulebook 23). Further, while at 0
Hit Points, if Khendai is subjected to an effect that restores
Hit Points, they regain only half as many as the effect
normally restores (minimum 1).
Silver Susceptibility (Ex) Kinetic attacks with silver weapons
bypass any DR Khendai has. If Khendai takes a critical hit
from such an attack, Khendai must succeed at a Fortitude
saving throw against the weapon’s critical hit DC or be
staggered for 1 round.
Moxie Moon |
Okay, if we have to fight Khendai, we're going to need to hit him hard to get past his natural defenses. I doubt any of us have silver weapons on them, but if someone does speak up now."
Moxie looks around the room for anything else of interest. "Are we ready to keep on moving?"
XperimentalDM |
"Please take care with them. You might be able to get them to stand down if you can convine them you are not employed by Dortay."
Kneepuncher |
"Drat, I left my tea set at home."
Hey, I can entropic strike with anything in hand...
~ Yarameh ~ |
Hey! It's amazing that I'm the one saying this, but let's try to talk to Khendai first.
Yith-Naarin |
"Discussion over violence is usually the better option" Yith says and smiles at Yarameh.
He turns back to the computer. "What is or was Khendia's job here. Our best bet is to figure out his purpose and befriend if possible."
Moxie Moon |
"I'm glad we're all in agreement about trying to deal with Khendai peacefully first. I've negotiated with Eoxians before, and dealing with the undead isn't much different than anyone else. We all want the same things at the end of the day. I should probably lead the talks, but I wouldn't mind some back up as well, in case things don't go well."
Kneepuncher |
"Be happy to help... and stand close by in case things go durian-shaped."
Kneepuncher automatically aids Diplomacy checks.
Moxie Moon |
Moxie winks at Kelvin. "Glad you're keeping an eye out for us.". Moxie starts making her way to the next room, searching as she goes.

Sorry, which next room. Your token is currently in the server room. Which is where the recent conversation has taken place. I appologize if that was unclear. I know not everyone moved their token to the end of the secret passage.
Moxie Moon |
Okay, I just moved a little ahead of the group, because I didn't want to be the only one surrounded by a horde of monsters, with everyone else off in other rooms. Let's keep going past the server room.
XperimentalDM |
A gazebo in the west half of this indoor garden features comfortable furniture and overlooks an artificial pond. The once carefully tended decorative plants have grown wild, nearly overwhelming the garden’s four sculptures of abstract humanoid dancers and its central white and glass obelisk. To the east, a wide set of stairs leads up to the entrance of a grand palace.
Kneepuncher |
You can assume Kneepuncher is willing to go first into any new area, even if he doesn't have much opinion on where to go next.

They are abstract humanoid figures. You are unfamilar with the posses they have been shaped into.

You spot what appears to be a tablet computer near the gazeebo.
~ Yarameh ~ |
I prefer music, prayer and shooting. I'll leave engineering to the engineers. - Yarameh makes the heavy metal in the earphone louder and starts singing along in abyssal, which sounds almost beautiful but still pretty creepy.
Kneepuncher |
"Now seems good."
XperimentalDM |
"So, when you you want to talk about a raise?"
[dice="Computers"]1d20+15
The battery is dead. Assuming you have a spare it is easily replaced, but you are having a hard time getting access.
Kneepuncher |
Kneepuncher can provide a battery, but no further expertise in accessing it.
Moxie Moon |
Moxie leans over Kelvin and starts tapping on the device's touch screen. "What about this icon? What does that do?"
Computer, Assist: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (8) + 8 = 16

Moxie grabs the tablet and tries to turn it on herself.

"Well, I guess this thing is busted."
Moxie Moon |
Moxie hands the tablet over to Kibara. "Can you hold onto that, please? And feel free to take another crack at it if you'd like."
Moxie points over at the entrance on the other side of this garden with her chin. "Shall we?" she says as she saunters over there.
Thinking we should save the grand palace for after we've searched this first part.
Perception: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (8) + 11 = 19 Always on the look out for hazards.
XperimentalDM |
The party has not been successful in accessing the tablet. The hallway splits at a t-junction with a room ahead and a staircase in the other direction.
Moxie Moon |
[b]"Let's clear the stairs, then check out that room up ahead,"[b] Moxie suggests.
Once again, I'm moving Moxie to keep things moving, but I'm assuming she wouldn't be traveling this far ahead of the group by herself and would probably have the tanks in front of her.
Kneepuncher |
The tank goes in front of her.
XperimentalDM |
Sorry, to make sure I understand. You just want to inspect the stairs then go into the side room, or go up the stairs, then into the side room?
Moxie Moon |
Yes, checking that side room out first. Clearing the stairs is more of a roleplaying thing...Moxie would scan the stairway as she moves past it to make sure no one is ambushing them from around the corner.
XperimentalDM |
This room appears to be a kitchen designed for the comports of living creatures. It looks like it has been gone thorugh several times. There are wrappers from emergancy rations and other convience foods lying around the room.
Moxie Moon |
"Looks like someone else has been here but maybe they missed something.". Moxie scans the area before moving on.
Per, Broad spectrum tool: 1d20 + 11 + 4 ⇒ (11) + 11 + 4 = 26
XperimentalDM |
One cabinet contains a delicate golden table set for 12 people. You can take a good scan of it if you'd like. The only other thing you find is a few weeks of emergancy rations.
XperimentalDM |
Yith will take a look at the trash to try to figure out how recent this pillaging was...
[dice=perception] 1d20+13
It seems to have happened over a lengthy period of time. Someone has been in the rooms within the last few weeks.
Moxie Moon |
Moxie looks admiringly at the golden serving ware. "If we were adventurers from Old Golarion, we'd be stuffing that gold in our loot sacks and spending it at the local tavern, amiright?"
Actually, does that gold seem like something we'd grab? With Starfinder I never know if we're supposed to be grabbing everything not nailed down or not. And is gold even that valuable in this setting?
With the kitchen thoroughly explored Moxie moves back to the stairway.

Well it may have historical significance, you are not sure the Smynx at the door would be please with you taking it. YOu'd need a very good way to hide it.
XperimentalDM |
Ok assuming that we want to head up the stairs now.
Many shelves in this warehouse hold samples, models, crates, and construction materials. Others are bare or contain only the remnants of packing materials or fastenings. Empty and half‑empty containers clutter the area near a haphazardly parked forklift. Weld marks and burns scar some of the floor, and the wall paneling has been torn off in places, revealing severed wires and broken electrical connections. The lights in this room have already activated before you enter it.
