Welcome to all selected! Let's have fun! Finish your characters and let me know if you want to start out as knowing each other or if you wish to start out as strangers.

Thanks for the selection, glad to be here!

Not sure which would be best for knowing or not knowing each other. Will read other backgrounds first.

Thank you for picking me!

I did some light swapping around of equipment/feats, nothing too impressive, just swapped out skill focus and spell penetration for greater spell focus, and got an ectoplasmic meta-rod.

Zengi'a is very much not from around here, in fact he's been traveling for a quite a while to meet with these very important heroes! Which would the GM prefer, strangers so we get the juicy first meeting scene, or already established to get into the action faster?

Thanks for choosing Bhornkild =)

Well well well. If the fourth is a cleric, that means we have a full party of divine casters. Interesting.

Here's a list of Bhornkild's current spells. The bold spells are spells that I either want to keep for gameplay/roleplay reason or they are spells that are automatically granted by Oracle/Lore Mystery/Rage Prophet. The unbolded spells are negotiable. Seeing as we are all divine casters, I expect everyone can just pick up their own spells that they want and prepare them themselves, but if there's a spell on the Oracle list you want access to let me know. Bhornkild has 1000 GP worth of diamond dust, giving him 1 use of 1000 GP Restoration or 10 uses of the 100 GP version. Figure it might be important if there's a bunch of vampires running around. I generally don't play spellcasters so I'm open to input.

The Rage Prophet has an ability to add their RP/Barb levels to their caster level when raging and using Calm Stance, so Bhornkild can be Caster Level 18 if he needs to be. Something to keep in mind if you want him to prepare a spell effected by caster level. For example, he can burn a round of rage to cast Magic Vestment at CL 18, causing it to last 18 hours and offering a +4 enhancement bonus to the effected armor/shield, as opposed to the +2 bonus you would normally get at CL 11.

. . 4th (5/day)—cure critical wounds, divine power, legend lore, restoration
. . 3rd (7/day)—blood rage, cure serious wounds, dispel magic, locate object, magic circle against evil, magic vestment, speak with dead
. . 2nd (7/day)—aid, lesser angelic aspect, cure moderate wounds, defending bone, inheritor's smite, ironskin, lesser restoration, see invisibility, tongues
. . 1st (8/day)—bless, cure light wounds, detect undead, divine favor, hidden spring, identify, moment of greatness, remove fear

I suppose I should go over my fun tricks as well!

First up, I have the ability to 11 times a day as a full round action treat deadly wounds. This heals for 4*hit_dice+16 (+11 if I roll higher than a 5). It also doesn't count as treating deadly wounds, so I can do it again if needed. This is not a spell, but it is a supernatural effect.

I also have haste! Yay haste! Gotta make the beatstick people beatstick harder.

I left a spell slot of every spell level open for on the fly problems. Kind of irresponsible for prepared casters to not leave at least a few empty slots. Of particular note is greater black tentacles, which will only attack the bad guys, wall of thorns, and solid fog. Ectoplasmic wall of thorns will be particularly nasty for spooky ghosts considering their reflex saves usually aren't boosted to the moon.

I only prepared one enlarge person a day, but I'm sure I can make space for a second if that becomes a thing that we need more of. I'm kind of hoping I can convince the cleric to prep a few casts of death ward as well, just so I'm not the only one running prevention duty, but I can manage if needed.

If I really get stacking with my debuffs, the bad guys shouldn't be able to move pretty much at all, and will take some damage for their trouble. Downside is that it can be hard to aim large battlefield control spells so that the melee folks can still hit the baddies, or avoid catching our own guys in the spell, but I'm sure I'll manage!

If we have time to set up for a fight, I'll cast mass feather step on people to help them avoid the difficult terrain thing.

I think that's about it? I've got a lot of useful skills ranks, and the ability to spontaneously cast my spells as other useful stuff, like circle of protection against evil! @Bhornklid: You might want to swap that for something else if there's another spell you like more, but I'm not opposed to having two people able to cast it. I'm really looking forward to playing with you guys!

I'm playing a Wizard in a 2e game with the intention of going into the Halcyon archetype. Look forward to seeing Zengi'a in action!

Hey, if you prepare Telekinetik Charge and Bhornkild prepares Blood Rage we can combine forces to throw an angry dwarf at our enemies.

Either way works for me. I kind of like the fates/gods brought us as strangers to this exact meeting point at this exact time kind of start, but I will defer to you all. Either way, you will start at a park five miles outside of Caliphas.

As for the start of the game, I have an opening scene in my head (movie-like) and it kind of only works if you don't know the 4th character, so I have asked him to not post his character profile in the thread yet. Hope that is ok and that the scene works in the game as well as it does in my head. LOL...

Sounds fine to me! But can you let us dot the gameplay thread so that this shows up in my campaigns?

And in the interest of sharing our “tricks” with the party: the main one for Sven is that when he hits someone he gets a free bullrush. If it succeeds then an adjacent ally (but not Sven) gets an AOO. So if you are in melee, it pays to be next to Sven. This also helps himself defensively, as he can get a full attack and push the enemy away, forcing them to move back in. Fewer attacks coming his way means less damage.

Hi all, I'm the mysterious 4th player! Bwahahaha.... Anyway, I am looking forward to playing with you all - looks like fun balanced group!

I will post the intro post tonight - will start you out as strangers though if you have ranks in Knowledge (local), you could have heard of each other.

As a ranger, I hope you would have K (geography); if not, you're not much of a ranger. :)

I sent you all PMs to fill in your background a little and your reason for being near Caliphas.

Gameplay Thread is linked above so you can dot.

Hello all, I have been away for the Memorial Day holiday weekend in the US and will update the thread tomorrow night. Thanks for the patience.
