Welcome! This is a discussion thread for my NostalgiaCon Year of Reborn Strife table.
Please don't hesitate to ask any questions at any time.
Hoping for a fun game for everyone!
Some pregame instructions:
Character Selection
Once you finalize your choice, please register your new character at the OrgPlayOnline database site. Be sure to include a link to the deck handler in your profile. Let me know your character's Pathfinder Society ID. (I'm assuming everyone is starting a new character; if you are continuing an existing character, let me know, and I'll have some additional instructions.)
Also, if you haven't already, please verify your deck ownership. Take a photo of something that indicates ownership (the box, the character card, a receipt, etc) and include your Paizo username. Send the photo to morkXII@orgplayonline.com and he'll add you to the verified users.
Party Communication
Some parties like to strategize via discord or google hangouts; some parties just use it to alert when someone’s turn is up. Other parties prefer to communicate entirely via the discussion tab. It’s up to you!
Using offsite chat is completely optional. Send me a Private Message indicating which platforms you would be willing to use, if any. This is entirely voluntary, and the decision is anonymous. If anyone, for any reason, indicates that they would rather not communicate offsite, it will not be set up.
Posting Expectations
What time zone are you in?
Please try to take your turn within 24 hours. Obviously, let real-life take priority, but out of courtesy to the other players, try to let us know if something does come up.
Use a posting style that works best for you, with as much or as little flavor as you feel comfortable with. It’s your game! The one thing that I would request is that you label your dice rolls with at least the difficulty and type of check.
Pizazz - Rhynn |
Hi all!
Settled on Pizazz (125640-1020) for final character, still working on deciding decks, but should have that sorted in the next day or so. Just trying to decide how much I want to chase instruments...
I'm west coast, PST at the moment.
Uliah, Warpriest - Sam P 332 |
I will be playing Uliah with the Warpriest Class Deck, and the Divine and Tank Adventurer's Packs. New character, number 147677-1015. I am in EST time zone.
I'm having some trouble getting the OrgPlayOnline site to register my character. I'm not sure how to troubleshoot that.
Uliah, Warpriest - Sam P 332 |
It keeps giving me Server Error (500) whenever I try to register a new character. I have registered characters in the past for a VTT game. They are still in there. But it won't let me make a new one.
Is there any agreement on which version of the Yewstance deck handler is best? I have an old copy of v4.7 that I was using, but it appears different from Rhynn's copy.
Pizazz - Rhynn |
Pretty sure mine is v4.7 as well, although I have tweaked it very slightly to add a picture so I make sure to pull up the right sheet. I have several running around. Other than that I think everything else is the same, although I know I enter all the card text for my cards so I can use the text lookup function that is built in.
Haha, yeah, whistling in text will be interesting, still have a couple days to ponder that. =) Whistles in confusion ?!?
Ezren - Nickademus |
Mine is v4.7 as well. I will eventually fill in all the card text as well. I just hold off at first in case it is wise to change characters.
Uliah, Warpriest - Sam P 332 |
I poked at OrgPlayOnline until it worked. EmpTyger, Do you need my username from that site?
EmpTyger |
Looks like the preference is for discord. I've sent everyone an invite link, and I will also be setting up a party handler spreadsheet (to come).
I've posted the intro, so when you're ready, please choose starting locations and draw opening hands. Also, let me know if anyone would like a particular turn order, or we can go by timezone order or randomly.
EmpTyger |
Zadenar, can you please confirm whether you are registered at orgplayonline, and if so, what is your username? I think that's the only thing left.
As no one has expressed an opinion on turn order, let's just go in timezone order:
1) Amiri
2) Ezren
3) Uliah
4) Pizazz
And we'll be starting the first scenario with...
Starting player: 1d4 ⇒ 2
Ezren!
EmpTyger |
Congratulations, rewards are up! Decide which feats you want, and discuss who is taking which upgrades and loot. I've added a tab to the party tracker spreadsheet to help coordinate who is taking which loot- let me know if you still need edit access.
Also, for NostalgiaCon, everyone gets to roll a d20 after each completed scenario. 20 wins!
7-1A reward: 1d20 ⇒ 5
Nope.
I've also posted the intro for the next scenario. The villain is placed in Storehouse 6. When you're ready, choose your starting locations and draw your opening hands. Let me know if you would like any changes to the turn order, otherwise we will continue with Ezren starting the next scenario. (for real this time!)
Pizazz - Rhynn |
7-1A, Once Bitten, Twice-Born - Pizazz
Tier 1, XP 1
HP:
Power feat - On another local character's check, you may whistle a tune and recharge a card to add 1d4 (■ 1d6); if the card you recharge is an Instrument item, additionally add your Diplomacy modifier
Upgrade:
Weapon 1: 1d1000 ⇒ 354 Heavy Crossbow > Deathbane Light Crossbow
Happy to use the loot ring if no one else is interested.
Amiri zadenar |
We get a bonus upgrade I believe
7-1A, Once Bitten, Twice-Born - Amiri
Tier 1, XP 1
HP:
On your Strength check or your check against a monster, you may bury a card from your hand ([X} or discards) to add your Fortitude skill.
Upgrade:
1 Weapon 1:
2 1d1000 ⇒ 314 Blessing > Ally > Alright I'll take the stupid ring
boon: 1d20 ⇒ 18
Ezren - Nickademus |
Scenario 7-1A: Once Bitten, Twice-Born Rewards
{ First-Time Victory }
Hero Point: Power Feat
.
Deck Upgrades:
Spell 1 1d1000 ⇒ 683
Ally 1 1d1000 ⇒ 109
Weapon 1 1d1000 ⇒ 34
Con boon 1d20 ⇒ 1
Uliah, Warpriest - Sam P 332 |
7-1A Hero Point goes to a Power Feat: Add 1d8 and the Magic trait to your check ([X] or to a check by a character at your location)
against a bane that has the Undead trait.
Deck Upgrades:
Weapon 1 1d1000 ⇒ 743
Ally 1 1d1000 ⇒ 210
I'll leave the spell for the casters who don't swing swords, and it seems I'm less jazzed about my available blessings than the rest of you are about yours.
No interest in the ring right now. Between a mount and a weapon I have enough stuff to persistently keep in my hand.
Convention boon 1d20 ⇒ 14
Pizazz - Rhynn |
Indeed, missed the two upgrades.
I'm good with the ring and will look for the blessing next time.
Forgot about that boon roll.
Boon?: 1d20 ⇒ 12
Uliah, Warpriest - Sam P 332 |
I have a rules question. When a location closes and is removed from play, what happens to a boon displayed next to that location? The Belkzen Battle Standard from the Warpriest deck doesn't feature any text for when the location closes, unlike the Banner of Valor from Wrath. Does it stay out there displayed next to a location that doesn't exist?
Nickademus42 |
I see no errata for the card, so it would stay next to the pre-Core location until you rebuilt your deck. Post-Core cards make sure to take care of the card when the location closes so this doesn't happen, but technically yes, it stays displayed on the table until you rebuild your deck at the end of the scenario.
EmpTyger |
Yeah, seems like it would just stay displayed locationlessly. Seems to be a rules hole, as there is a developer statement indicating that the card should be buried, but it doesn't seem to have ever been formalized:
We've been working on this for a bit. The wording may not be 100%, but it'll change the standard closing rules to something like this:
"...Finally, apply any effects that say “on closing” and put the location card back into the vault. If cards displayed at that location would be processed when a certain condition is met (such as during recovery or at the end of an encounter or a turn), process them as if that condition is occurring; otherwise, characters bury any such displayed cards that belong to them, and the rest are banished. The location is no longer in play, and all characters that were at that location always immediately move.

Item 1: 1d1000 ⇒ 404
boon?: 1d20 ⇒ 10
Uliah, Warpriest - Sam P 332 |
Hero point goes into a card feat (Blessing). I have no interest in the loot Leech.

Item 1: 1d1000 ⇒ 701
Armor 1: 1d1000 ⇒ 638
Weapon 1: 1d1000 ⇒ 626

Ezren - Nickademus |

Deck Upgrades:
Ally 1
Harrower -> Bound Imp
Loot Cards for Next Scenario:
Leech
Con Boon 1d20 ⇒ 11
Uliah, Warpriest - Sam P 332 |
Who knew wizards make such good damage sponges?
I have no interest in either of the Loots. I'll take a Blessing 1 (replacing Prayer with Desna's Freedom). I'm out of feats to take at this tier, so I bank a Hero Point.
1d20 ⇒ 10
Amiri zadenar |
boon: 1d20 ⇒ 9
Would like a blessing 1 (wondering why I went Keep with all those lovely harrows in the smash deck did I just look Tank deck before)
Ezren - Nickademus |
Scenario 7-1D: The Rotten Rodeo Rewards
{ First-Time Victory }
Advance to Tier 2.
Hero Point: Saved
Deck Upgrades:
Spell 1
Lightning Touch -> Good Omen
Loot Cards for Next Scenario:
Leech
Enervation
Con Boon: 1d20 ⇒ 8
Uliah, Warpriest - Sam P 332 |
2A: Mortuary Mischief
I'll take a Spell 2 upgrade to snag Protect from the Warpriest deck: reduces or prevents any type of damage to another local character, deals half the amount prevented as Combat Damage to me (which I can soak with my Full Plate).
After failing to draw either of my two weapons all game, Uliah is taking a card feat for Weapons. I'm filling the spot with a Heavy Pick (Weapon 0) since I'm swinging a d6 Strength already. I'm also using the adventure reward from Adventure 1 to banish my Scimitar and replace it with a Bastard Sword. Those d10s are calling to me.
The loot blessings are Divine this time, which works for my healing power, but I already have plenty to choose from in my class decks. You folks can have first dibs on those.
Boon roll:
1d20 ⇒ 11
No luck on that roll.
Ezren - Nickademus |
Scenario 7-2A: Mortuary Mischief Rewards
{ First-Time Victory }
Hero Point: Card Feat (Spell)
Deck Upgrades:
Spell 2
+ Lightning Bolt
Loot Cards for Next Scenario:
Leech
Enervation
Con Boon: 1d20 ⇒ 3
Amiri zadenar |
Armor 1 for upgrade full plate
Hero point on feat proficient in armor
Will take loot the lost and gorums favour
boon: 1d20 ⇒ 5
Pizazz - Rhynn |
7-2A, Mortuary Mischief - Pizazz
Tier 2, XP 1
HP: Card feat- Item: ■4
Upgrade: Item 2 - Horn of Blasting
Boon?: 1d20 ⇒ 5
Loot in use:
Ring of Protection
Uliah, Warpriest - Sam P 332 |
I want to keep playing.
My hero point goes into a Power feat: revealing a Mount now add 1d4+1 (instead of just 1d4) to my combat or Divine check.
My deck upgrade is a Blessing 1: replacing Orison with Abadar's Law.
The new loots are Harrow Blessings, not Divine Blessings, so I'll pass.
Pizazz - Rhynn |
Yeah, I'm good continuing.
HP: Power Feat - Hand Size 7
Upgrade either Item 2 for instrument or Spell 1 for combat enhancement would be good for me. I'd be happy either way.
