Joe fires, joining in the barrage of ineffectual shooting. You can just imagine what your leadership would think about this display.

The devil, wary and weary decides that Tolar really must die, then the rest of you will be easy meat.

attack: 1d20 + 27 - 4 ⇒ (13) + 27 - 4 = 36
attack: 1d20 + 27 - 4 ⇒ (15) + 27 - 4 = 38

His spear slices through the solarians defences like a hot knife through butter.

damage: 6d12 + 42 - 22 ⇒ (2, 7, 10, 9, 3, 12) + 42 - 22 = 63
zap!Zap!: 4d6 ⇒ (1, 3, 3, 1) = 8

"Fall, Dam you!" it curses. But as the thrust strikes home, the force of electricity from Tolar's armour interacts with the bio-engineered vulnerability of the devil and with a final scream it fades from existence.

As it does so, a small object falls from it to the floor of the room.

Another massive blast shakes the tower.

Out of combat. The explosions make you wonder how much information will be left if you take the time for a ten minute break. If you want to use other abilities than just take one or two minutes that is fine and can be done without risk.

Dridapex, those weren't your defenses, were they? You attacked them, too, if I'm not mistaken. So were they left behind by the Hellknights to slow us down?

Jaqweh takes a seat next to Tolar and suggests that the kasathan and perhaps Joe take some time to recover before they go into battle with the Hellknights.

"We shouldn't be rushing into a fight unprepared and outgunned. If the Knights did indeed leave those two just to slow us down and weaken us, what else might they have waiting for us?" he wonders.

I wonder why Dridapex stood without any fear, resistanse or other sort of behavior typical for such situations. , - asks Joe when the action is over.
He secures the perimeter so that Tolar have a chnce to recover and gain some healing.

He provides Killdroid's musician talent as a heavy gaze, but gave no comments around.

The vanguard expects an answer about potential enemy disposition patientely.

Lack of flying talent is an weakness in this sort of gravity especially. But we prevail, if I redirect some fire from you... - half orc comments Jaqueh

Dridapex takes a final 'lick' of the wall of ichor before replying No... I think these were left behind my the Hellknights. If you pass me the heart I may be able to tell more..

It totally ignores Joe's implicit suggestion about motivation.

Kait's dwarven lacky looks at one of the hearts. "I can detect shreds of soul matter still cling to these hearts. They are slowly fading, but may last for another day or so. That is what allows them to continue beating."

So, taking a rest? Happy for Id to change healing, just let me know the net difference in HP. Hopefully some of you have healing serum etc on you..

So no rest?

Dridapex looks again at the hearts and then offers a mental shrug as if to say Well, if you don't want to know about them...

The team ignores the still figure on the bier surrounded by the ichor-fall.

Dridapex explains This room is used by the antiquarians to prepared deceased Ichor Lords for assimilation into the tower. Their bodies are treated with special chemicals to ready their flesh for participation.

There is only a single exit from the room which takes you to a set of stairs that seems to wind its way up the outside of the tower before re-entering another large chamber.

Stairs wind their way around the outside of the tower and enter this room through a double archway. A diamond-shaped pool of ichor fills much of this room. A massive vein of flesh pierces through the northwest wall of the room and leads into the pool, pumping it with a steady supply of black ichor. In the center of the ichor pool, a large hole in the floor slowly drains ichor from the pool, creating a waterfall to the floor below.

The ceiling of this room is covered in masses of fleshy tendrils, which writhe and twist continuously around four tumorous nerve clusters embedded in the corners of the ceiling twenty feet above.

Dridapex holds up a hand. Take care. The tendrils here are alive, and the damage to the tower has left them in an... agitated... state. They will likely attack any creature that enters.

It carefully points out four sets of nerve clusters. If you can put those nerve clusters to sleep, then we may be able to get through the room without harm.

The nerve clusters are on the ceiling, twenty feet up. If you can interact with them, then a life sciences check next to one would be the easy way to disable them. Of course doing that would mean going into the room...

They will regrow eventually. However with the damage the tower has already taken, I would prefer you quiesced them rather than destroying them.

Id looks at the tentacle and realises he has no idea about how to detach it. However with a bit of luck he might be able to neutralise the fluid that flows into Kait.

Medicine check to detach is too high for Id to make, but with a lot of luck he could neutralise the ichor flowing in.

While technically the ally can only be used by the character who got it, I'll cut you some slack here, especially as Kihgtsa has been a somewhat "active" npc.

The hireling basically does not exist except when making checks - My main has to be in the right place and uses their actions, and the NPC can't be affected by anything. I just find it more fun to roleplay him on PBP since I have the chance.

That is actually a will save, not a fort, but with a 24 you make it anyway.

Jaq can have his action back.

Tolar cheers on his teammates. He took the lead before, and figures its only fair to let some of the others share in the glory.

My shock grenade has a 15 foot radius, is the ceiling less than 15 foot high, if so I can fire the grenade directly below the tentacle and blow it up, preferably at blue or red so I don't hit my allies. hit: 1d20 ⇒ 5 I still have to hit the square and not roll a 1. I know you said, you'd rather not damage them, but if they are within reach, Jackojare will try

Yeah, I kinda forgot that it was an ally, given the number of participants in this party. I appreciate GM's ruling, though.

Jaqweh watches the tendrils and offers some advice on how best to target them.

Get 'Em on the tendril. That's about all he can do at this point.

Tolar feels a mental message from Dirdapex While unwarranted damage is undesirable, the longer this takes, the more substantial damage will be done to the tower. If violence is your only way to help get to the top, then use it.

@Jackojare to be clear, the tentacle comes from the roof, not from the nerve complexes which can control it. The roof is 20' up. You won't really be able to target the tentacle with a grenade without also likely getting Kait. I'll put your damage on the blue nerve node to keep things moving.

@Id yes, I messed up my status block.

The tentacle continues to pump ichor into Kait.

No worries, I know it's a lot going on.

Id keeps pace with Kait'lax and at least tries to neutralize the ichor pumping into the shirren.

Can I tell if the Life Science check worked? If 36 is no good, we pretty much have to violence this.

@Kait Yes, the first set of nerve nodes is now deactivated.

Id has a go at trying to neutralise the venom but after a moment or two realises the formulation is something he has never seen before. But with a bit of luck he might manage it.

Failed, by a reasonable margin, but it is (theoritically) doable by Id

Again, there are tentacles that are attached to Kait, which can be targeted. And there are nerve bundles (of which three are left) and can be targeted. Maybe I'll add them all to the init tracker to help.

Two of the nerve clusters wither a little more under the sonic assault from Tolar.
