@GM Valen,
Are we supposed to still be in combat rounds? I am unsure.

![]() |

I received a message from Holy, I know him and his wife IRL, they are both having trouble being able to log in to Paizo. I myself have had a hard time with it, had to clear my cache and restart and such so just wanted to make everyone aware in case we need to bot or what have you.
Or try these; they were posted to the Flaxseed forum today:

Gaius and Holy were up so I had Gaius grab the warhammer and hand it to Patty (since she's actually proficient with it).

Sort of. Hopefully my next post will make clear.
Sorry for the delay folks, hopefully log-in issues and IRL work demands will not continue to dog us.

Hehe I guessed it was something like that, I just found it amusing. :)

Do we have enough time to finish this during the Con time frame GM?

![]() |

Are we sure that Phatty Patty’s player can post? They haven’t posted in about a week.

I doubt it because we have at least one, if not two, more quests remaining. If you wanted to play one of those modules with this character you should check with the GM and players of that table to see if they can either push the start date back or maybe switch out to a different character.

I'm wondering the same thing.

![]() |

Thanks for the information, I’m buying a house at the moment so am really not able to focus on the game as I’d wish. :-/
Sorry for that.

![]() |

Sorry, I didn’t know what was happening. I hope she is feeling better!

![]() |

All the best to phatty!

GM Valen |

yes phatty can post she hasnt been well. she will post tomorrow
I am sorry to hear that she hasn't been well. Do take good care of her and I hope her health improves.
I will hold off any update today until she posts, but thereafter anticipate botting any PC that hasn't posted within 24 hours of a request for action in order to keep the table moving and complete the current quest prior to the end of the con.
Do we have enough time to finish this during the Con
time frame GM?
Unfortunately, we do not have enough time to finish all 4 quests, but we should be able to complete 3 quests by the close of the con. Once the third quest is complete, PCs will have earned 1 XP and 1 Prestige, a couple of boons, and an amount of gold. I am happy to issue a chronicle sheet for the 3 quests to any PC that wants one at that time, which will then free up that PC to play in Outpost or some other event.
I will continue to run the 4th quest for any remaining PCs (assuming there are at least 2 PCs remaining) after NostalgiaCon concludes and anticipate that it will run another 2-3 weeks past the end date. Please note, any PC playing in the 4th quest will be "locked out" of playing in any other games until that quest is completed. Successfully completing the 4th quest earns a PC 1 XP, 2 Prestige, all the boons, and full gold.
This quest pack is repeatable for 1st level PCs, so there is always the chance to play all 4 quests in the future (or even just the last one, I suppose) with a different PC even if you one takes a chronicle for only 3 quests now.

I will stay the course as well, I've enjoyed playing through this one and would very much like to finish it all.

![]() |

I'll be here for the final part. I didn't sign up this PC for Outpost V just in case; often the end time gets close or 'runs over' into the beginning of the next convention/gameday.

![]() |

Of course stay! ;-)

GM Valen |

Per official con instructions, this game will be reported by 3/6, even though we most likely will not have completed all 4 quests by that time. Also, every player should make a d20 roll in this thread to determine whether or not you receive a boon for the con. A 19 or 20 wins. Winners need to roll 1d2 to see which boon. Players must roll their own boons rather than the GM rolling for the whole table.
Boon for GM?: 1d20 ⇒ 12
Alas, no.

![]() |

Boon: 1d20 ⇒ 9 nope good luck all!

Alas, no.
Players have to? Hm don't tell that to the GM in my other game. ;)

Since this has gone on so long, I thought it might be helpful to give pointers to the information we have.
Know before you go have result for greater than 15, but not last result.
Shrew flies do not taste good. Fortunately they are more interested in eating paper than people.
Pathfinder Chronicles, have History result for all three and Linguistics result for second and third volume.
A totem of a Shoanti man dressed in riding leathers that we found.
What we figured out with the help of the museum curator.
We have the rider totem with us.
Message left by Eylysia that mentions cowls.
Backstory on Crocus Knight and what the Pathfinder Zaul Blystone told the fey.
We have the cowl with us.
Haunt that involved the silver hammer.
Ballad found on tablets that is a warning about ambition.
I probably missed few things. Corrections and additions welcome.

I thought it might be helpful to give pointers to the information we have.
An excellent summary, Cith. I would also call attention to the contents of the room where the PCs current find themselves, which includes a Shoanti totem of a mount, an aged music stand, and a rack filled with an assortment of cloaks.
Since this has gone on so long,
I do not wish to drag this out unnecessarily. I recognize that it is hard to gage interest in such things via PbP and I realize that puzzles can slow down play quite a bit. That being said, I also know that many players enjoy puzzles, so I wanted to give the party some time to try and put it together, particularly as a number of you are playing this set of quests for the first time. Accordingly, I will give the party another 24 hours to propose possible solutions, then I will move us to the next (and penultimate encounter).

![]() |

Sorry, I didn’t mean that as a complaint GM Valen.
When playing in person, everything is done in four hours. It is much easier to remember something that happened during the session because there generally are not interruptions.
With Play by Post, it takes a lot longer and I was playing and GMing multiple other PbP games. I needed the reminders myself. Since I needed it myself, this was my way of sharing it.
Thanks for the additional hints!
Since I have previously GMed this (when it was new), I will not be taking lead on solving the puzzle.

![]() |

What he said about the length of time. Plus I don't recall anything at the beginning suggesting this was a big puzzle so I wasn't paying close enough attention. I forgot about Elysia's message about the cloaks; so I'd guess the PCs need to wear cloaks and raise the hoods on them.
Oh and someone should probably wear the ring to protect them from negative energy, just in case...

![]() |

Yes trying to remember everything over play by post is definitely more of a challenge, however I think you've managed this game very well DM I'd give yourself more credit. I'm ready for the next challenge, with Cith's recap I'll try to prepare myself for this final quest.

Apparently we need to "activate Eylysia’s last message" to get to the final part. And we might want to discuss and decide who is wearing the ring that helps protect from negative energy just in case this thing goes wrong (which I expect it will).

![]() |

I would suggest the healer (Holy Silver) take the ring since it is protective. If he stays up there is a chance he can get the rest of us up!

![]() |

I'm wondering, it seems as though the the statue we got goes on the mount, the tablet I would say goes on the music stand, and I'm wondering if the cowl goes with the cloaks. I can't figure out the ring and cowl part. From what my history check gave us someone needs to sing the song be we don't have anyone that speaks Dwarven. Should the person that sings wear the ring and the cowl or just the ring?

![]() |

We were given a translation of the song by the dwarves. Sing the translated words.

@GM Valen,
Could you please label the NPC pictures with their name?

Certainly.

I am attending a live con locally this weekend, so expect posting to be sparse, if at all, until Monday.

Party! Party! Party!

It was a good time. It is good to see some gamers face-to-face that I haven't seen since the pandemic began. Attendance was way down from prior years (though I suppose that is to be expected).

It is. Two of the FLGS have not re-opened their open gaming areas while another had people signing waives of liability. It's all going to be different.

Glad you had a good time, GM Valen!

Actually, I tried to be as diplomatic as I (the player) could yet still object to what happened.
No accusations against current Decemvirate, using the past tense for the crimes. Started by recognizing there were reasons that they started wearing the helms.
Fortunately for Cith there is no negative boon Decemvirate blacklist. :)

Had a great time with you guys, and really enjoyed playing through this one a second time. I played this in face to face at a con the first time. We were behind from the start, and had to completely skip the last encounter. Thanks for running this and writing this GM you did excellent on both accounts!

Argh, Citi is influencing Gaius! He wanted to ask if they needed a broom to sweep it all under the rug... ;)
