Hey all! I'm recruiting for the module Cradle of Night. Will provide PFS chronicles to those who want it at the end - please let me know if you don't want one. This will also be played in Campaign mode (so freshly made characters!)
About the Module:
Want to play in shadow-cloaked Nidal or explore the mysterious Darklands? This is your opportunity! Created by James Jacobs, Wesley Schneider, Neil Spicer, and Greg Vaughn, this is the last module created for Pathfinder First Edition. Expected levels are from level 8 to level 10. You'll explore some ruins in the shadowy Nidal before diving into the Darklands into the subterranean dark folk city of Lyrudrada.
About you:
Ideally, I am looking for 4 to 6 dedicated players who can post at least once a day. I'm also looking for a well balanced party, with a fair amount of roleplaying. Have a build you've always wanted to try? This is your chance!
Character Creation:
Assume your characters are members of the Pathfinder Society. Though if you have another creative background concept, that's okay too! Your character might have some knowledge of the Darklands and/or Caligni but its not necessary. Please no evil characters!
Level: Start at level 8. Will go to level 10.
Races: Any Core + any PFS acceptable races (ifrit, kitsune, nagaji, oread, sylph, tengu, undine, and wayang)
Classes: Any
Gold: 23,500 gp (no more than half your wealth on any one item; typically you'll spend about 25% wealth on weapons, 25% on armor/protective devices, 25% on magic items, 15% on disposables, 10% on ordinary gear)
Etc.: 20 point buy. Will be using Background skills. No other alternative rules. No 3rd party stuff.
I'm somewhat flexible with ideas. If you think something fits well into this adventure but isn't part of the requirements above, feel free to bring it up. You don't need to have your build complete, but need a race, class, and general background of your character at minimum.

As for background, an Elf that has a grudge against the Drow, a sort of blood feud from long ago, that has journeyed into the Darklands on occasion…will fill more in later…

I think I'd be interested as well. I'd run a rebuild of a human (Tian-Min) samurai I play in PFS1e. Probably make her a samurai (sword saint)/fighter (weapon master).
Often found wearing a short red yukata and the geta sandals of Minkai, Kiyoko carries an ancestral katana in her daisho, a jet-black adamantine blade. The base of the blade is stamped with Minkaian characters that read 零天星野 (Reitenseiya), "Starless Night."
Though her parents have led relatively peaceful lives, she comes from a line of samurai who often spend years of their lives on musha shugyo, warrior-pilgrimages, acting as knights-errant and wandering troubleshooters. Her grandfather Kiyoto was the previous generation of the family to be a shugyosha (a warrior-pilgrim), and he wielded an ancestral katana called Reitenseiya, or "Starless Night." A few short years before Kiyoko's own musha shugyo, he himself fell in battle against honorless bandits led by a powerful oni, though he defeated the oni and many of the bandits. In an unusual move, Reitenseiya was passed on to Kiyoko rather than the eldest child after her grandfather's death. Long regarded as an iaijutsu prodigy, her Sensei sensed a great deal of potential in the young swordswoman, and this seemed to guide her father's decision. Even so, her older brother Jin seemed to resent being passed over for his sister, especially since he won every single sparring match between the siblings--the only thing preventing a more permanent rift between them was their younger brother, Muzan. Only shortly before she departed on her musha shugyo did he finally seem to let go of his lingering resentments and doubts, when Kiyoko proved that she had finally surpassed him as a swordfighter by besting him in a non-lethal iaijutsu duel.
Since her departure from Minkai, she has managed to find her way to Absalom, where she has fallen in with the Pathfinder Society.

I would be very interested. I would be interested in playing a Half-Orc Arcane Bloodrager (Metamagic archetype) called Halana. My character would be based pretty well on my level 3 Bloodrager (Rogarch) but obviously built out to level 8. I am very curious to see if the pieces will fit together as I imagine.
It looks like a good crew is forming up already. :)

Halana is a fair and well-muscled young lady reaching almost six feet in height. Despite her mixed orcish heritage her features are fine almost elvish in nature. This combined with her long blond hair and crystal blue eyes hint at the emergence of an ancient bloodline which greatly influences her physical appearance.

5s background: He was a scout in a wizard clan, supplementing his arcane scrying with skills at stealth. He is relatively young, cautious and unassuming.

I am definitely interested in this. I have long been wanting to explore one of the Exalted/Evangelist/Sentinel Prestige Classes. This would be a great way to try it out before actually making it a part of a PFS build.
The only deities that AoN returns searching for Darklands are a gnomish deity of gambling (Nivi), and a handful of evil deities. Not to say that I'd have to build this PC with a Darklands-associated deity, but I'd like to know your thoughts on building as a follower of an evil deity before I go too far with this. Many divine classes allow casters to be one alignment step away from their deity, so my character won't need to be evil if I do that route, but still, want your thoughts first. Thanks!

Gruingar believes himself to be a dragonic avatar of Apsu who goes by the name of Kal Drak. He has somehow gotten trapped in the shape of a human. His goals are, first, to find a way to 'return' to his proper dracon form. Then peacefully rule in Apsu's name. He isn't entirely sure on this. He thinks there is a chance he is supposed to set things up so a different dragon can rule. Or maybe he is even supposed to set up a bunch of little kinglets, that report to him as the divine emperor. But he doesn't let anyone know about those doubts.
{Totally irrelevant to me if those are beyond the scope of the campaign. Maybe that will be a post level 20 occurance. That is what he has in mind and what he is working toward.}

Some pretty great concepts so far. With Thanksgiving coming up next week, I know a lot of people will be busy - me included. So will leave this up until after Thanksgiving and will choose a team sometime after that.
@Zin, I think it depends on the deity. There are some that are too dark or evil that are a hard no. Others are more acceptable (e.g. Asmodeus or Zon-Kuthon would be okay). Feel free to run some deities by me (either here or PM) and we can discuss it.
@Ouachitonian, let me read up on Fetchlings. Been on the fence about allowing them. If you have a good fetchling concept, feel free to run it by me. Gonna pick up Nidal, Land of Shadows sometime this weekend and read it over the next week or so. That'll help me with my decision.
@PaleDim, yeah unfortunately this is standard. But I'm hoping to run more CORE stuff in the future. Might try some lower level CORE modules sometime next year.
@ShadowDragon, it's a 64 page module, so depending on the group, it will probably take at least a year to finish. So definitely a long term commitment.
@Nathan, you're completely right! I read the wrong line, I guess. Starting gold should be 33,000 gp.
There are three chapters in this module. It's about one level per chapter, so level 8 in chapter 1, level 9 in chapter 2, and level 10 in chapter 3. It's not set in stone though, but yeah, expect some content at level 10.

Sure, no problem. I notice Wayangs are also on the list. They’re also linked to the Plane of Shadow, I may do that instead. They’re usually more a Tian Xia race than an Avistan one, but I could probably make that work if you don’t decide to allow Fetchlings.

Just missed the edit deadline. I meant to add that in either case, I'm going to play a Gloomblade Fighter. Feels like it really fits the theme of both races and Nidal itself really well. Is there a Pathfinder Lodge in Nidal? I may play an associate who isn't actually a Pathfinder, but a local ally of the organization. Or maybe a Pathfinder who's originally from Nidal, and hopes to establish a Lodge 'back home' one day.

Definitely a front-line fighter specializing in two-handed weapons and working in tandem with his companion. This is Otha/Wymarc; I mentioned above thinking I’d go Ranger to begin with…but I took a different tack and went Zen Archer 6 / Shadowdancer 2. My build is mostly complete; I might make a tweak or two but nothing major. And I can post daily, or more if needed…
Background: Galadhan (Elvish for "Tree-Brother") is a wood Elf from a secretive Elvish settlement deep within the Barrowood. Originally from Kyonin, he settled there to gather information on potential threats from Cheliax or the Darklands, along with some of his kin; he went on several missions into the Darklands, learning their languages and their ways, seeking intel. Apparently, some of the more sinister Darkland residents learned of these incursions; his settlement was raided on Midsummer's Eve while the inhabitants were celebrating. Many Elves died, including his kin. The invaders were those of the night, Drow and other dark creatures from below; Galadhan swore justice and vengeance for his kinsmen and friends.
Galadhan tracked the invaders for a couple of days or so, but only found two badly wounded Drow, left behind by the war party in the Menador Mountains. He questioned them before giving them swift justice. He learned that the Drow were not the only ones behind the attack, there were other, more secretive creatures from down below as well; the Drow also revealed the war party was heading to Nidal before they'd descend back into the Darklands…
…and that’s how Galadhan finds himself currently in Nidal…

This is Ouachitonian's submission. Aleks is a pretty standard Dex-fighter, though he is also really sneaky, and can use Disable Device (not on magical traps, though). Additionally, he knows Nidal (being a native, though he hasn't been home in many years), and speaks both Shadowtongue and Undercommon. if we spend much time fighting in areas of dim light or less, foes without darkvision (probably not many, I know) are going to have a hell of a time getting through his miss chance.

Halana comes across as kind and well mannered. While her disposition can often be described as stately she has learned to be quiet and can at times can often seem aloof or otherworldly.
After a good deal of time her reputation and experience grew within the society. One day while studying in the great library of the Grand Lodge she discovered a passage in an ancient text, the Triple Bound Manuscripts which details an elven sorcerer (Lord Tetexaluna) of considerable power who resided in Nidal and yet travelled to the north to sire prodigy of considerable magical power.
Halana is motivated to explore this lead (by visiting Nidal) to see if this mage could indeed be her forebear and the source of her magical abilities.
While vaguely humanoid in appearance Rawk-N-Role enjoys tucking his arms and legs into a giant ball and then rolling himself into his opponents in combat.

Hi Gm, I haven't finished the crunch 100% but I present to you: Farrar D'este. A pathfinder of Liberty's edge, and a varisian wandering bard. He's in Nidal secretly working against the government of Nidal, and working against the authorities there. With song and tale he works to brighten the spirits of the broken people of the lands, and oppose the tyrannical government of the Shadow Nation. I see him pursued by a Nidalese government agent, a handle bar mustachioed Inspector S'Olverin, with lots of escapes through taverns and crowded inns, uplifting the spirits of the people before disappearing.
