Greetings.
Fox is still level 7, will hit 8 if he survives the mission.

Looks like we have everyone!
* Watches.
If someone would like to establish an order for watches (and who is on what times) that would also be of benefit.
* Magical effects.
If people have any 'always on' effects (illusions, detections etc), that would also be handy to know up front, as it is not always possible to retcon things.

Most of the party (barring Orst) has beaten her to the initiative, feel free to post away :)

Merry xmas & happy holidays everyone.

Yes merry xmas indeed! I got a new car a couple of weeks ago and Santa apparently knew because I got all car cleaning gear (even a snow cannon!) - miracle!

You guys had some quality fireworks, from what i've seen.
VC - Sydney, Australia
It was quite a show! I had a great day out in the sun, after wandering about some spectacular scenery I decided to walk Seven Mile Beach, but of course it became 14 mile beach as I then had to walk back to the car.
Suffice to say I was a bit snoozy by the time I got back to Sydney and the fireworks were going off :p

The Cathedral is the final act of the scenario - so just putting it out there way ahead of time for anything people need added to sheets, and for thinking about the next scenario.

GM, how effective would earplugs be in animal form?
Considering all items worn are melded into the animal form, and provide their bonuses, would earplugs do so as well?
VC - Sydney, Australia
They'd work fine. Its wax and some cloth :)

GM, i think i would still be in animal form. After the failed climb in round 2, i shifted back in round 3, under the cover of vanishing trick being active.

Ahh yep I can see you did say that - and you have the fast transformation so all good :)

Ahh valid point, vanishing trick 1 round/level, so still invis.

I will admit, they are using it against you to great effect at this point. It is hampering them, but they all have fly-by attack which is allowing them to hit and run using it as cover.

I would suggest getting under the overhang in the building before dismissing the mist. It makes them have to move into line of sight to fire their bows. You can ready bow shots and spells for when they fly by.
I think Orst will go up the stairs. He is not great with traps and I really hope he is not stirring up a hornets nest with another monster upstairs, but maybe there is a position of advantage up there.
VC - Sydney, Australia
The overhang would certainly require them to think about positioning - its a rough 3D fight!

Sorry if if giving off the wrong impression.

All good, just keeping it all tidy in what can become a confusing battle - there are a lot of moving parts and ongoing effects... fog clouds, ice storms still causing a hazard etc :p

GM, you asked about the flanking.
Underfoot assault wrote: At 1st level, if a foe whose size is larger than the mouser’s is adjacent to her and misses her with a melee attack, the mouser can as an immediate action spend 1 panache point to move 5 feet into an area of the attacker’s space. This movement does not count against the mouser’s movement the next round, and it doesn’t provoke attacks of opportunity. While the mouser is within a foe’s space, she is considered to occupy her square within that foe’s space.
While the mouser is within her foe’s space, the foe takes a –4 penalty on all attack rolls and combat maneuver checks not made against the mouser, and all of the mouser’s allies that are adjacent to both the foe and the mouser are considered to be flanking the foe. The mouser is considered to be flanking the foe whose space she is within if she is adjacent to an ally who is also adjacent to the foe.
VC - Sydney, Australia
I figured :)
Spring attack provides a mechanism to move up to (and away from) the opponent, but doesn't mention being able to bypass the separate AoO potential from entering an opponent's square, that is a function of the Acrobatics skill - you'd need to make an Acrobatics check (or be invis and thus not subject to an AoO)
HP: 61/61, AC 23/23/23, F+5, R+15, W+4, speed 40ft, Perception +10, init +9, Darkvision 60ft, low light vision, scent
That makes the shape shifted mouser build more difficult in that case.
What cause makes the sneak attack 'possibly'? :o
Due to underfoot assault mentioning both the mouser and the adjacent ally are considered flanking.
VC - Sydney, Australia
The Underfoot Assault has two parts:
At 1st level, if a foe whose size is larger than the mouser’s is adjacent to her and misses her with a melee attack, the mouser can as an immediate action spend 1 panache point to move 5 feet into an area of the attacker’s space. This movement does not count against the mouser’s movement the next round, and it doesn’t provoke attacks of opportunity. While the mouser is within a foe’s space, she is considered to occupy her square within that foe’s space.
Under the above conditions (adjacent to the opponent, and missed by their attack) this allows you to move into the opponents space without provoking an AoO and occupy that persons square.
As above, once you are in that opponents square you are considered flanking if you also have an adjacent ally and that would enable a Sneak Attack.
The issue is getting into the opponents space, which could be done by meeting the triggering conditions of part 1 of underfoot assault, making an acrobatics check to enter an opponents space (with a risk of failure), or via invisibility which doesn't stop the opponent knowing you are there but denies them the AoO due to concealment.

Maybe picking up skillfocus acrobatics....
I mean, AC against going into an occupied square goes up by 4, but still...
VC - Sydney, Australia
Once you are in there it can really ruin an opponent's day, Mousers are amazing. We have a guy who plays one locally and he was able to pretty much break the game with it - I think the local GMs were happy when he hit L12 and retired :)
Acrobatics is one option but your vanishing trick is probably the safest and most reliable bet.

I am starting to think we need to change our approach here. Perhaps we retreat to town and buy some goodies to make this fight easier. If we come back and try again later today, we could perhaps not loose that much ground on the hit point front and not have to save verses the song again too.
Couple of potions of fly, a potion or two of shield and maybe a wand of magic missiles and a necklace of fireballs. I think we make short work of this creatures.
If the spiritual weapons are not able to take out at least one of these bird-women, we need to leave and re-equip and try again.
Next question will be how to leave and not be pin cushions for their arrows.
Or are there some other ideas to tackle these birds. I think we are not making much progress. Maybe something like using the falchion as bait. Drop it in the middle of the belfry and let them try to retrieve it.

I mean as soon as we start fleeing they can just fly above us and shoot arrows, right?
