George 09-23 mentions to the group that the life forms that they fighting were brought from off-world and are called Ghelarns.

"While this fact is interesting and brings up several questions should we not focus on finding the clue hidden in the coral fragment that we have retrieved?"

The coral strand *is* the password fragment. Datch was interested in the coral species because she saw it as a unique method of encryption because the strands always grow back to an identical shape.

"Wow, ghelarns! That's a species that could cause some real damage to the local environment. Send me the coordinates of where you found them so I can include that in my report to the Marine Life Protection Services. We need to get moving on this!"

Kyefi is so happy to see the team and grateful for letting him know about the invasive ghelarns that he hands the group over a handful of library chips to bring back to the Absalom Station. "I'm sure your organization will be able to make good use out of these. There is a treasure trove of our research we've conducted here over the last few decades."

As the team is heading back, they receive an incoming comm from a blocked number. An electronically modulated voice on the other end says "Starfinders, I have a small request for you. I know that you have the passcodes needed to rescue AbadarCorp and all the wealth that they have horded. We think it's about time our self assigned capitalist overlords get knocked down a peg. I am not asking you to *not* give them the password, but wouldn't it be fun to let them sweat a bit? What do you say?"

Dawnfriend frowns. "Who are you, nufriend? This doesn't seem very nice. We're supposed to be helping the Abadarfriends."

George 09-23 shrugs suspecting Datch's hand in all this.

"We are not anarchists. What possible incentive can you provide us to delay our mission if only for a moment?"

"I am with an organization that is fighting for a freer and more equal galaxy. I can not offer you the kind of tasty treat and a nice pat on the head that your corporate master will. All I can offer is a chance to humble them just a little bit. Does it not bother you that one corporation controls over 60 percent of credit transactions in the Pact Worlds? That they have put themselves in a position where a simple data breach could crash the economies of dozens of planetary systems? Maybe you have not thought about it; or perhaps you enjoy being their well cared for lap dog."

"Like I said comrades, I do not want you to crash the economies of the Pact Worlds, but just take your time getting them their precious passwords. Let them panic a little bit and maybe give some of other people a reason to wonder if AbadarCorp should be allowed to have so much power."

Unless someone objects George 09-23 reaches over to the controls to cut the communications and let them eat static!

Octavii has no objections to George doing that. I take it that's a no then. I'll just go with the majority.

Dawnfriend says, in a clearly disapproving tone, "That person was not helpful."

"I wonder..." chitters Liftt "Why they wanted the information delayed... even if only by a bit? A chance to cover some tracks maybe?"

So basically, AbadarCorp established the credit as the main currency used throughout the galaxy and they are responsible for regulating it. So imagine that the dollar is the only currency commonly used in the entire world, and one corporation is not just the largest bank in the world but also decides questions like how many dollars are printed each year. And then that corporation gets hacked and they are at risk of having all that information wiped out. The choice is basically whether you want to let AbadarCorp cover up the whole incident on their terms, or if you want to let them panic a bit and rile up some discontent over their monopoly.
It doesn't affect any boons or rewards; it's just for reporting and of course roleplaying.

George 09-23 turns of the comms and the ship continues its journey back home through the Drift without any further incident.

The team arrives in Absalom Station and they are escorted to a small conference room where the Venture Captain Radaszam is waiting for them along with a team of AbadarCorp lawyers. "These guys have some paperwork for you to sign," the faction leader says coldly as the attorneys slide tall stacks of papers over to each Starfinder. "Its not negotiable." The documents are written on gold colored paper and appear to be an iron clad non-disclosure agreement, complete with a gaeas seal that will alert all signatories if the contract is ever broken.

After signing the very binding documents, the lawyers collect the fragments of the password and leave the room. Radaszam lets out a long, loud sigh and says, "They're going to cover this whole incident up like it never happened. Business as usual. You understand that you can never, ever speak of this."

Times passes and business does continue to happen. People across the Pact Worlds continue trusting AbadarCorp as the most safe place to store their money; blissfully unaware that without the actions of a heroic team of Starfinder agents everything they owned would have been lost forever.

Max considers the offer for a moment. "It would be nice to make them squirm for a bit but it could also be bad for business to be on the wrong side of AbadarCorp," he thinks to himself. When George cuts the comms, he shrugs and nods in agreement. "Probably just as well."
