For ties to Sona:
Anyone tied to Sarlona? Either Kalashtar families or relatives from there who fled to Aundair? They could have been on the boat, or related to people on the boat that Sona came across on.
Anyone from Aundair? Was anyone military in Aundarian forces? Sona might know them.
Anyone from Arcanix? She was a student there for a time.
Ale the Artificer |
Happy to be here, thank you for accepting my application. Looking forward to gaming with everyone.
Ale is from the Eldeen Reaches.
Nevitash |
Nevitash is a Kalashtar from around Windshear, but has spent the last few years in Sharn trying to learn to be a Psion.
Perhaps Sona knows members of my family? Or we can meet up on the road near Aundair and are travel together toward Windshear.
Sona Tanaka |
@Ale: The closest she's come to the Eldeen Reaches was Arcanix, which I believe isn't too far from there.
@Nevitash: Considering your charisma is an 18, I'm assuming he's good-looking and a bit charismatic? I could see that if he wished to talk to her, he would be welcomed. :)
Nevitash possibly has a family member who, on the subject of the Mournland, made a passing mention of one of the human women who came over having gone through something horrible down south? Perhaps he made reference to her light-like scars? Perhaps that glued them together from Fairhaven to the road toward our final destination?

They probably wouldn't have met. Ale hasn't really left the area until recently.
Maybe during the war?
Nevitash |
Its possible that some of us may have met long ago. Ale, was there any chance you passed through Windshear before? If so maybe we could have met then.
Ale the Artificer |
Would the war have extended to that region? My knowledge of Eberron lore isn't great (though I'm reading stuff here and there to learn more).
Ales life has consisted of serving the Wardens of the Wood to help protect the area during the war and then helping to rebuild after.
So, perhaps? I imagine a patrol out to the area could have happened.
Similarly, perhaps after the war Ale went to Arcanix for magical supplies of the non-druidic variety.

Maybe Sona could be the first person Jacen meets when he returns from being raised by the eagles. He will have come out of the hills south west of Arcanix into the town; her an impressionable young student, him the charming young scion of House Orien.

Given the fact that she is so noticeable, they probably didn't even have to have met and he could recall her easily; even from a distance. The Syberis light is as noticeable as it is in her picture in her crunch.

I have no qualms at all with that. She left Arcanix suddenly and disappeared back to her family home. That possibly left behind a relationship/friendship with Jacen.
One thing that Jacen would know about Sona is her drive despite things being hard or bad, so for her to leave would be no small thing. She's had a life of hardship. Even the good things that happened to her briefly in Sharn were eventually taken away (feel free to read her backstory). When her face got scarred, she feared that good things likely won't come her way forever. When Jacen met her, she had the taste of death still fresh in her mind from Cyre and the events that turned it to the Mournland. Her face was horribly scarred and she had no occupation. The girl had come to a school beloved by the nation of Aundair to learn one, but only found herself being used as a tool for experiments. Those having met her at the school, would have seen the sorrow in her at that time in her life. Perhaps Jacen's unique bird-like mannerisms (assuming he has them if raised by eagles?) endeared him to her and got her out of her slump for a time?
In terms of personality, Sona can be a sweet, gentle girl, but she is that way while maintaining strength. She's the type to stand up to those abusing her right to their face publically, but also is the kind to give money to the poor and love extraordinarily beyond what is normal at the same time.

#LOVE ... all of this. Eagles actually, and yes, he would see her strength, not her skin. He would have told her, "a feather holds the wind because it was meant to, not because it is pretty; a feather is the softest most gentle form of power you will find in the world."
and then in my still kind of sleeping delirium I had the idea of Jacen's 'brother' Jeron (his animal companion) having a crush on her
Sona Tanaka |
Oh my!
Jacen d'Orien |
Oh my!
It seemed like a fun subplot too: an unrequited/long-requited love story? A search for polymorph magic, to turn either one of them into what they aren't? Allow all three of them (Jacen, Jeron, and Sona) to fly together as a family? Just a bunch of crazy talk to start the morning :)

I'm really laughing inside because I played a character previously on a different website who also was from a far distant desert land. She came to this beautiful forested land a stranger and met a man who was a sort of half-lycanthrope race. They could assume human form completely but had very animalistic qualities. In his case, he was an eagle morpher. They had bird-like qualities about them when in that human form (sharp noses, oddly focused stares, obsessive about shiny things). The two became friends and ended up (after a good 2 years of roleplay) as more. He could shapeshift into a bird form and they often would go hunting with each other because of his unique ability to fly and spy out the game. His family was a family of eagles who could also shapeshift. A very odd coincidence here!

So I think I'm ready. Haven't seen or heard from Zylbella yet or the GM. Do we know what's going on, Eltonj?
Chantal Pinegrove |
Hi everyone! I'm your replacement player. Chantal comes from northern Aundair, near the Eldeen border. She's a druid healer, with some definite trauma from serving in field hospitals during the War. Kind, gentle, and optimistic, right up until someone threatens her or her community. She doesn't carry a scythe for nothing.
So it looks like we have a wilder, an arcanist, an artificer, and... a ranger? Jacen, I can't find your sheet.
@EltonJ: Since it looks like I'm the only healer type here, I'd like to switch to the Restorer archetype with your permission.

I am letting my games know that starting today and until the end of October, I'm going to be on vacation. This shouldn't hinder my ability to post, but it will hinder my ability to post throughout the day (as my 23 cousins will possibly commandeer some of this time). Feel free to bot me or just wait until late night hours and I should have some posts up.
Sona Tanaka |
Okay, well I'm back. This game hasn't moved at all. GM. Still here?
Nevitash |
I hope your feeling better.

FYI, I don't know if I'll be able to post tomorrow or Thursday. Tomorrow I have a doctor's appointment, two pies to bake, and cleaning to do. Thursday I'm helping host Thanksgiving.
Happy Turkey Day to everyone who celebrates!

I'm sorry to hear that.

That is sad. Take care as well!

Jacen, when posting links on Paizo, it notoriously will put spaces in your URL. It is best to use an [url=https:www.url.com}tag[/url} around the word (using correct brackets).

Okay, so that's 119 gp total. Are we splitting it evenly, or what?
Google spreadsheets really needs to make the autosum easier to find. That's half of why people use spreadsheets!
Jacen d'Orien |
For me (Jason, the other Jacen), it does seem like we should calculate a ratio of eating from hunting/grazing, so there should be rations in the list, and feed, and I mostly suggested the cart to carry ale, but yeah ... the rest of the kits can be shared.
Jacen paid the stableman for the mule & donkey, and asked that he also bring appropriate tack for them, such as one might need for an unriden animal. Jacen & Sona chip in 100gp so far, but we should really look at food&feed (ale), and possibly buying something lovely from Leticia, like coffee or supplies to make champurrado some cold night.
Sona Tanaka |
I know Sona most definitely is!
