Hello Ryushi, Lazarus, Zephyr, Malik, and Zanthra and welcome to my Fist of the Ruby Pheonix campaign. Please take a moment and get to know your fellow players and work out any details that you all want to work out before gameplay starts. Being that this campaign is starting at 11th level I think I'm going to give you guys a few days to get details sorted before we jump in fully into game.
Here are a few things I want to point out before we begin:
-Those of you who are not familiar with how this tournament works, you will be competing as a team against other teams of combatants.
-The tournament will not fully start until book 2 of the adventure path. This first book is designed to be qualifying rounds for the tournament. It is possible for our team of players to be eliminated before you even start the tournament officially.
-It's up to you if you've adventured with each other before or if you are all strangers or have heard of each other but never worked together before. Take some time and talk about how familiar you want to be with each other.
-I am only requiring 2 posts per week from my players, though more will not be frowned upon if you wish to do so. I work very long hours and do not have time to be on the boards constantly responding to posts(hence selections being late) and I don't think it would be fair to hold my players to different standards.
-I have been thinking about using a VTT for combat as I find play-by-post combat, especially with my limited posting schedule, to be really clunky. What are your thoughts on the matter and if we do go in that direction do you have a VTT you prefer?
If you have any questions please don't hesitate to ask and I look forward to playing with everyone here.
Gameplay will commence once everyone lets me know they are ready to get started and all starting details and character details are sorted out. I don't have a deadline on this so take as much time as you need.
GM Stargin
Thanks so much for the selection, excited to begin. For a tactical thing like a tournament a VTT does make sense. I've heard really good things about Foundry, apparently you can just import pdfs right into it.
I'll make an avatar soon. What do you guys think about how our team came together?
Ryushi is a pretty Neutral to Lawful good type of dude. I kinda challenged myself to make an effective warpriest even though it doesn't have a good rep. He'll be on the frontlines buffing the other martials with his Marshall archetype and should be full of heals and helping out with saving throws.

Hello All
Thak you for inclusion into your game!
Gotta go back to work; post lated also!
Zephyr amir
I'm going to own that I am not quite "re-employed" yet
SO
I have a little more time than some of you.
Like, at the moment, I just made coffee and I'm going to go back and re-read your submissions to look for hooks.
HAPPY to take some focus overcommunicating in the beginning, truth be told, that's actually kinda in character: very very sylphy as a matter of fact!

Apologies, if that last post was offensive to anyone. My inner Deadpool got the better of me.
Anywho; I would like to say that I am looking forward to this game. I appreciate the inclusion.
About Lazarus the Undying
Think of Lazarus, as a Monk Wizard; although he no longer is able to cast spells, he still is knowledgeable in a fight.
He may use Untrained skills at level plus modifier; adding +2 to the roll; and 1/day another +4.
He is a Tank; plus not too shabby damage. I do look forward to criticals, so to take advantage of his weapon specialization of Stunning.
He will be taking Flanking partners...lol.
He is also a Master at Medicine; having plenty of Medicine Feats.
Inside and out of combat, he can be back up Healer.
Out of combat (Exploration mode), he can Treat Wounds 4 at a time (jokes inserted here, please), and he is able to Battle Medicine each of us once every hour.
He is all things Vudrani. Although, he has traveled far during his time before and during his time with those Murderhobbos...lol.
Any questions, comments are welcome!

I was actually going to ask if the team wanted to do all the Team Attributes that are on pages 12-14 of the Player's Guide? It's cool if not, but some of it was thought provoking
Zephyr amir
Zephyr amir
This did not reshape all of Qadira, this did not make life fair, nor did it change the laws of wishcraft, as hard as both parents tried. When Zephyr came into his powers, early, the laws of magic bound both his parents to the Plane of Air, for a time all three of them are not yet aware of. Growing up in Qadira as an unknown plane-touched child, Zephyr did his best without them.
His blood was overflowing with inherited magics though, and it didn’t take him long to master them. He stood up for those who could not stand for themselves, and frequently, that came as a great surprise to the underworld of Katheer. It didn’t mean that he was a stranger to “strange” work, it just meant that it turned out hard for anyone messing with those under his watch. He excelled at enforcement work.
The wings … well the wings are his pride and joy. He had prayed to Ranginori, the Duke of Thunder, almost since he could speak that one day he would fly like his ancestors. When that day came, he wept. He wept across the skies of Katheer, and when he landed, he gave thanks to his god for listening to him. He vowed that he would maintain the spirit of freedom for all who wanted it. He then redoubled his effort to grow in power so that one day, he would never have to leave the sky.
Zeph is all things Qadiran, loves both his Kelish and planar heritages, and is happy to share his cultures.
Zathra
And Zathra is all things Osiriani! Lol.
She is very much a support spellcaster while her eidolon is a raging damage dealer. She will spend most of her rounds either buffing or attacking with cantrips while the eidolon wades into melee and knocks down opponents. It can also explode with lightning, and it can attack from 60 feet away thanks to the extending rune to take down pesky flying foes.
Between her and Zephyr, we probably have all the Charisma based skills covered.
Not sure about VTT. I have only used Roll20 sporadically. I usually set up my battle maps in Google Slides but I'm willing to try other apps.
Zathra likely met Zephyr in Katheer while preparing to sail the long, long distance to Goka. Not sure how the rest of the party may have come together yet.
Lazarus the Undying
|
Most of my games use Google Maps; although my GM for 4 games uses Roll20.
I am fine either way. My weekly EC games uses Foundry; although we game "live".
I am strongly considering switching Intimidation(E) out for Survival(E). You guys definitely have Cha skills!
Lazarus will stick to Wisdom...lol.
Lazarus has been a reluctant Pathfinder these last 10 years, since the previous Ruby Phoenix Tournament. He may be a bit bitter.
He went awol from The Society to regain his honor from their previous treacherous treatment!
He would have traveled from Absalom; reversing his previous journey across the Golden Path.
EDIT: By the way; loving the character backgrounds and pics!
Zephyr amir
So maybe all 3 could have met in Katheer: Casmaron itself is a giant continent to get across or around.
I did actually look at the tables of team attributes and roll a few ....
TEAM ATTRIBUTES:
Theme - You and your teammates are all patriots from a particular nation or region.
Motivation - Your team has joined the tournament to confront a longtime rival or team of rivals in the arena
Personalities - You and your teammates are all generally cold, merciless, and particularly harsh or even cruel in combat.
Sponsorship - Your team’s sponsorship money comes from the backing of a noble or monarch, possibly a relative or an aristocrat with ulterior motives.
Origin - You and your teammates all met in or share some affinity with Avistan, such as Andoran, Cheliax, the Lands of the Linnorm Kings, or Taldor.
Strength - You and your teammates all boast incredible strength and can withstand many attacks that would topple or outright kill others.
Weakness - Your team has such a poor understanding of magic that even simple cantrips pose a bewildering threat.
Quirks - You and your teammates fret about appearances and get upset if an opponent tousles your hair or soils your clothes.
These are attributes I rolled ... some are just wrong, some are insane. Some have the beginning of being okay though.
I'm not sure I recall everyone's Campaign Background either: Zephyr chose Undercover Contender.

@ Pathfinderplayer35 I almost forgot! If you noticed, Lazarus has the Cunning Rune etched onto his +2 Greater Striking, Ghost Touch, Cunning Handwraps of Mighty Blows.
Unfortunately, Cunning may only be placed on Slashing, or Piercing weapons; because of the bleeding for knowledge aspect.
I would like to be allowed to ignore that particular requirement (getting punched in the nose does cause some blood to appear) with your permission? I feel that Recall Knowledge aspect really fits his backstory.
If not; I may fiddle around a bit with his Ability Stats and Skills/Feats to get him there.
Apologies; off to work (looking at you, Zephyr...lol. To be fair; I just started the job Tuesday!).
EDIT: Alternately, I could just place it on his +1 Striking, returning Shuriken. He could open with a Ranged Strike....maybe...that may not work. I think only 1 rune per +1?

Archivist Malik Zell
Hiya folks! Sorry lagging behind a day here or so. Catching up! Working from the top using general concept terms~
Would be mildly amusing (but sad) to not pass a qualifier.
I'm rather open on if we're aware, teamed, or PUG (pick up grouped). Zell's not specifically from the continent this ocurred on, so I'm quite fine if we met on the voyage and bonded. Or knew each other previously. His backstory doesn't use a specific "place"
I'm fine with the 2 posts. I generally have a bookmarked PbP that I click on and read up on when I settle in for dinner most if not all nights. I too work long hours with my doggie too.
I'm okay with using a Virtual Table Top. I mainly use Roll20. I don't know of other ones. My other PBP was using it too before it wrapped up.
Feel free to look at the stat block in profile. The google Doc link is his backstory; but unless we decide we've known each other long term please don't read it other players~ But feel free to look at the pic associated. (not my pic, but felt it fit perfectly. its from Breath of Fire I think)
Last general note. My character block also contains the formula he knows. If you see items you'd like to have often, please do note it. Malik would be happy to issue supplies on a day to day basis. Any of the Alchemical Items of the levels I know could be done.
Me as a player does not know your characters past what you've stated in public. So I wouldnt' be able to guess what you want.
Archivist Malik Zell; who can be called Malik, Zell, Archivist, whatever. He's not one to care about titles much, if its not an insult.
Malik Zell is something more of a Jack of All trades Master of none style.
He's going around basically trying to write "Idiot's guide's" style things for the world. Meaning he has to learn a lot. His main focus is creatures/beastiary sort of things. Given that knowledge can keep weaker folks away from death. Thats all tied into why he's into this tournament.
He has Loremaster's Lore, which lets him try to know almost anything; albiet its mainly for representing his works. He can do recall knowledge quite effectively, and 1/rd for free. He can take 10 on Loremaster Lore if wants. He has some craft, some medicine, some stealth, some theiving, some survival.
Malik isn't great at combat on his own. I'd hazard to say he's probably a little fragile He's a tool kit. he's got some snares, various tools, mutagen, elixir, bombs he can prep. He'll also be good with Aid attempts, and can aid most/if not all things.
Combat wise. He's got high movement speed Probably more than anyone else here. His bombs can be damaging, but how many he'll have will depend on what, if anything, anyone else would like from his Formulas known. He has some emergency healing measures. I didn't take all the usual alchemist feats either.
His go to non-resource combat are some bottled lightning-for debuffs, tanglfoot bags for more disruption, or shurikens (with low damage) that more often than note will be used as an Aid Action to give someone in combat an advantage. Which off hand.. sounds like Lazarus might be good to help with Flat Foot application and Aid boosting. His bottled lightning or tanglefoot bombs will have a DC30 debuff associated with them too.
Depending on the situation he will have Buckler, or a Tower Shield; albiet distance and avoidance is his min defense
He can also kick people, but its more a last resort sorta deal.
All of that said, he can switch a few things around. I built him as he would have lived his life. Not explcitly for a tournament sort of thing. Feels more real and natively interesting that way!
Also highest level character I've played now. Last highest was 8
Archivist Malik Zell
Oh.. Zell went with the Batch of Gold instead of the leveled items method. As he spent over 700 on just formula. (I bought as if I was buying over the course of a career I actually played), and some random mundane items etc.
He still has 140ish gold left.. So if anyone who does peek happens to know something that I missed that would be good to own let me know.
EDIT:
Malik's finished generally. but I'm sure I've forgotten something here or there. Loremaster is an archetype I think I love though. It'll be fun to fiddle with notes and random knowledge. Loremaster Lore working on almost anything is pretty neat. Though it can't be raised past expert ever.
I don't think its needed in a tournament but it'd be pretty easy to slightly lean a few things towards more stealthy/theivy if need be. He has some stealth/survival since he's gotta find and observe creatures in their natural habitat before
Edit edit: Ah. I know what I've forgotten Langauges. I apparently have 5 or 6 to choose I think. Need to look up and chose a few.
GM, are there any languages to the area that would be useful? Given travel time to get here, Zell would have time to learn a little in preperation.

@ Archivist I am extremely excited to have your Alchemist on board! I really will be looking forward to your DeBuffs. I am of the opinion that in PF2e, Buffs and DeBuffs are essential for success.
Being a huge fan of Knowledge checks, Lore Master is fantastic!
Lazarus' Alchemical Elixir/Tools Christmas wish List:
1.Darkvision Elixir
2.Antidote
3.Antiplague
4.Bloodhound Mask
Also, Serene Mutagen (Greater) would be great outside of combat to insure Lazarus makes DC 30 Medicine checks for everyone.
Juggernaut Mutagen (Greater); if we are against a single big bad.
Thanks!
I can easily see Zephyr, Zathra and himself having met in Katheer.
@ Zephyr Funny thing is; my new job is 3 blocks from my house...lol!
@ Zathra Wow! Your Eidolon is awesome! I have always enjoyed Egyptian motifs. Knockdown is a great Debuff. I look forward to seeing the Summoner in action.
Lazarus may be a bit jealous of your Hp...lol. Tanks!
@ Ryushi I am playing a Cleric (Cloistered) of Irori in my weekly AoA game. I am loving the Cleric (never said that in PF1e; although, the only cleric I played in PF1e Negative Channeled...lol). I am looking forward to standing across the Bads from you! All those sweet Buffs from you will be tide turning!
Divine Font is so great! 5 Maxed Heals plus your normal spell slots really lend to in Combat Healing being viable in PF2e.
I really think these characters will gel well.
Anyone see anything that Lazarus may be lacking?
GM Stargin
Ryushi is isn't really very patriotic or not patriotic about Tian Min. He's just chill about it.
It would make sense to me that Ryushi was just wandering around and is the 'last' addition to the group when the rest of you looked around for a cleric considering he's from a very different spot of Golarion.
Archivist Malik Zell
Lazarus' Alchemical Elixir/Tools Christmas wish List:
1.Darkvision Elixir
2.Antidote
3.Antiplague
4.Bloodhound Mask
We'll see how effective his debuff/buff attempts are! This is a lot higher level than previous. Looks fun though.
I've got the high lasting darkvision already; Zell needs it too haha. So that'll be easy to do every day.
Mask I've got a decent high level of. May or may not be a daily thing. Is it wanted just for detection or does it fuel some ability you have?
antidote/plague I've got the base level. I might look into buying the high level. I mostly had the recipe for crafting. 6hour windows are relatively hard to plan, but if we as a group thinks it might come in useful more often Zell could've researched and improved it on the way~ Since if I"m going to make it using daily resource I might as well have the best version !
Not sure how many of what might occur on a day to day basis, will depend on what/if any others want.
Drakeheart mutagin might be good for the Edolion as I don't think they have Armour??
Zell probably won't often use his quicksilver mutagen but might. It hurts HP a lot, but it does give a large increase.
Once I get some idea of who wants what, we'll see how many I can fulfil reliably daily~
I did rejigger some of his gear, and he's got extra gold left, I have a pile of potential buys. Which I can either use for that gear, or for more formula depending.
The trip to this area takes long enough there would be planning time post meeting fair well.

I think Zeph wants to host a dinner party in Katheer, and then offer to be everyone's guide in the Markets of Katheer the following day ... which could be kind of cool for the 4 of us who need to cross Golarion to get to Goka.
Also ... what about his guilty parents being the team sponsors? Like they were held at arm's reach from interacting with their kid, but, they've spent his lifetime getting around that obstacle. When they find out that he was selected to compete, they aren't in any way restricted from interacting with the world at large, so they agree to sponsor the team.
Team Name (potential): Champions of the Endless Sky
PathfinderPlayer35
So here is a little bit more information about the qualifying round.
-Right now 32 teams have been chosen for the qualifying round but only 8 will make it to the actual tournament.
-The adventure begins on the isle of Bonmu which was part of the fallen civilization called Taumata. The island itself is rumored to be inhabited by dinosaurs but little is known what true dangers lie ahead of you.
See the spoiler for the general rules for the qualifying round.
• The commands of the emissary and his agents are to be obeyed at all times, and the emissary’s word is final. None shall take violent action against the emissary or his agents.
• The emissary employs a number of enforcers to maintain order on the
island. The enforcers are agents of the emissary and so have the authority to declare unique challenges and matches.
• To qualify for the Ruby Phoenix Tournament, a team must collect a total of 10 silver feathers. A team can attempt to earn feathers by challenging another team to a match and wagering feathers.
• All teams must be able to readily present their phoenix necklace (page 75) and at least 1 silver feather to the emissary or his enforcers. Failure to do so will result in immediate disqualification.
• No contestant may leave Bonmu, for any reason, until the conclusion of the qualifying round, unless they are disqualified or lose all of their
silver feathers.
• The qualifying round lasts a total of 3 days. On the third day, any team with a complete set of silver feathers can visit Mount Haminabu
to confirm their entry into the tournament by presenting their necklace and 10 feathers. Once eight teams have qualified for the tournament,
the qualifying round is over, and all remaining teams are immediately disqualified.
You will start the game with 1 silver feather and your first quest will be to earn your Pheonix neckless but more on that once the game starts.
Any questions?

Tien might be helpful and then there are other local languages(Minkaian, Minatan, etc.) that you might consider. Otherwise, you can go with nonhuman languages such as Aklo, Aquan, Draconic, and Jotun.

Whats the rules on challenging teams? Can you refuse? do you have to declare? or is it just ambush if you want sort of deal.
I assume if we set a trap, or leave something hazards and the like, and a Emissary trips it.. thats on them not the contestents?
---------
unrelated rules question. The island reminded me of an original trick I had for this character. Since he often lived out studying ecology and such.
Trick Magic item[/ulr] in order to trick a wand of [url=https://2e.aonprd.com/Spells.aspx?ID=681]cozy cabin
but I realized that that skill feat only allows you to sucessfull use the item that round. So, that means I can't use a wand that casts a spell with a 1min casting time yea?
Anyone else happen to know of a way for a non caster to use a wand or 1/day spell like that?
Edit:
I thought about dropping my Snare stuff in order to get it via Witch archetype. Snares are funny, a few cantrip, and utility. Ultimately both are just choices made for his story though. I like the whole "ecology" thing and also "Housekeeping" style adventurer.. He's not great at combat but he handles cooking, cleaning, creature comforts. So it might not be terrible to do the witch dip.

Challenging other teams must be done in front of an Emissary. And setting traps would not be a great way of going about it because catching an Emissary in the trap could result in loss of feathers depending on how the Emissary reacts. I'd let you guys try to talk you way out of it but it depends on the Emissary's mood that day lol.
Zephyr amir
So there are 32 team feathers in circulation at the beginning and a minimum of 58 environmental feathers in order for the potential for the 8 team wins to even occur. Presumably the agents can award feathers too.
Strategy:
1 - attempt to garner 15% of the environmental feathers and hold the resulting 10 on the way to submit
2 - eliminate stray team members to weaken other teams so that their feathers can be procured
3 - survive the 3 days and attack teams on their way to submit given that we know they have 10 feathers AND know where they need to go
4 - use the same submission guidelines listed in #3 as a bluff to lure in other teams and then kill them for their feathers
5 - get a surplus of feathers so that we can use them to create alliances with less advantaged teams who can then help us double-team and eliminate stronger teams

@ PatherfinderPlayer35 Much gratitude! May Irori grant you 1 Moment of Clarity for a Mob...lol.
...meaning that he has the sense to see our Team; and throw in the White towel!
@ Archivist the Witch archetype idea seems to lend itself to the Alchy a bit? Lab Assistant
Really nice flavor!
The Snare Feats are cool; when you can prepare a Battlefield. Our Rogue in AoA does it; although we really only capitalized on it twice in 15 levels. I mostly blame them the pcs' stubbornness of refusing to believe we are not playing PF1e...hehe.
Lazarus wouldn't mind that our Team Name be: Irori's Revenge Against the Pathfinder Murderhobbos!; but...welll...that may seem a bit a on the nose for him...lol.
He has the Second Chance Champion Background.
The Endless Sky seems cool. We do have a bit of a Lightning motif going.
Lazarus can't Fly; but, he will be taking Cloud Jump at the most opportune moment!
So; who do we want to hold the Phoenix necklace? Seem that there may be a chance of it disappearing....Hmmm...

The Endless Sky is what natives call the Plane of Air; seemed reasonably sexi to me
Lazarus can't Fly; but, he will be taking Cloud Jump at the most opportune moment! - well I was just about to DM GM and ask for a ruling on Heightend Fly spells: Zeph has it as a signature spell: while 4th level is 5 minutes, and 7th is 60 minutes, there isn't anything for 5th & 6th. Seems like there should be some increase in duration (or not).
Obvi, I think flight can be a differentiator for us.

Obvi, I think flight can be a differentiator for us.
LOL @ pathfinding
Team Name (alt) - Pathfind THIS!!!
I'm thinking 5th the duration goes up to 30 min and 6th the duration goes up to 45 min.

Ryushi's got Air Walk, Boots of Bounding, and slippers of spider climb so that's all good. In my mind he's a bit of a sneaker head and those are the only thing's he's really bought for himself. Everything else is a gift or something.
I'll have to redo my 500 gold spend with all the free goodies coming from Malik.
Ukagi, Ryushi
Ryushi didn't put any bonuses in Intelligence so he really only has whatever would be considered Common for the Dragon Empires... can I say Ryushi is fluent in Minkaian and has picked up enough Tien to get by?

LOL I was just sitting here doing the same thing, and thinking, the last Djinni-like thing Zeph needs is invisibility. So he is going to buy a 2nd lvl wand (which he has to trick because his tradition is actually Primal not Arcane or Occult)
and like for planning purposes, where/when does currency become a factor, or does it ever? Like I cannot believe the dinosaurs care, but eventually we leave the island for civilization again, right?

Yes you guys leave the island at the end of book 1

Otherwise, you can go with nonhuman languages such as Aklo, Aquan, Draconic, and Jotun.Oh.. Zell went with the Batch of Gold instead of the leveled items method. As he spent over 700 on just formula. (I bought as if I was buying over the course of a career I actually played), and some random mundane items etc.
He still has 140ish gold left.. So if anyone who does peek happens to know something that I missed that would be good to own let me know.EDIT:
Malik's finished generally. but I'm sure I've forgotten something here or there. Loremaster is an archetype I think I love though. It'll be fun to fiddle with notes and random knowledge. Loremaster Lore working on almost anything is pretty neat. Though it can't be raised past expert ever.I don't think its needed in a tournament but it'd be pretty easy to slightly lean a few things towards more stealthy/theivy if need be.
Given travel time to get here, Zell would have time to learn a little in preparation.
So to clarify, the Common of our sheets from Avistan means we speak Taldan, and we should try to learn Tien?

Yes however if you don't want to take Tien then an interpreter has been provided to your team.

This should help a bit.
Regional Languages
You automatically receive "Common"; which can be Taldan, or Tien, depending on which side of the Empire of Great Kesh (hehe) you hail from.
You also receive Regional Language that your Ancestry (Ethnicity) grants.
Then a number equal to Intelligence modifier; and/or the Multilingual Feat.
Lazarus speaks Vudrani and Tien.
Ukagi, Ryushi
Based on that I believe Ryushi should have both Tien and Minakaian

With the GM's permission; I am toying with the idea of adjusting Lazarus' Int 10 to Int 14 and Wis 19 to Wis 16.
Basically, using 5th and 10th level bumps for Int instead of Wis.
Something has been bugging me about the build; and, I am thinking this feels better.
Besides, I would like him to know Taldane (Pathfinder; afterall) and Kellish; as they both fit his Backstory.

Would keep him from getting eaten alive in the markets of Katheer ... and give he & Zephyr a 'battle language' fewer entrants would know

Malik will probably know common Tien, draconic. thassalion, and a few more once I sit down and read up on some of those regions and think about his life. Or i'll probalby roll a dice and have him learn a few random ones.
I'm also rejiggering a few things slightly. i might have him know some Runic magic or the witch dip that's geared towards daily life stuff, to support his lifestyle haha. He is losing a few things for it. I may or may not have the "throw elixir to heal via quick alchemy" trick. if I go with Runic magic. which I think fits him better than a familiar does (and I like not having the prepared magic..which is limited to sorc or bard dips I think)
I don't think Innate spellcasting gives you "spellcasting" to use Wands. Or this would be pretty easy haha.
Also. Familiar stats are mildly confusing because there dooesn't seem to be stats for actual familiar's base forms.. So I guess they're just intended to be abstract or its spread out through several places in the book/website
(LM) Assured Knowledge Feat 8* Bard Source Advanced Player's Guide pg. 113 Archetype Loremaster Prerequisites enigma muse * This version of the Assured Knowledge feat is intended for use with an Archetype and has a different level for access than the original feat. You can procure information with confidence. Whenever you Recall Knowledge using any skill (including Bardic Lore), you can forgo rolling your check to instead receive a result of 10 + your proficiency bonus (don't apply any other bonuses, penalties, or modifiers). As long as you are an expert in a skill, you meet the prerequisites for the Automatic Knowledge skill feat in that skill, even if you don't have Assurance in that skill.

** spoiler omitted ** Realized that this feat, while pretty flavorful. could be done at a lower level using two skill feats; instead of a class feat. Since he is using mainly loremaster lore and not much other lores. It made sense to switch that bit. He'll still do the take 10 (so to speak) and free action...
There isn't anything that I have read that says that a Tricked Magic Item has to have it's spell continually activated or for that matter concentrated on. I was going to use the exact same principle to have Zephyr get a wand of invisibility (until I decided a few potions was more cost effective)
and let's just own that Zeph is a touch, well, used to comforts (didn't want to directly type 'spoiled'. So I love the way you are talking about Malik wanting "lifestyle" components that come with magic. Like why even have a character who doesn't have Prestidigitation, like what, you just take your food however it comes to you? Warm beverages that you want cold? As they say in Katheer ... F THAT!
I am all about the Cozy Cabin now that I read about it too ;) Either Zathra or Zephyr could activate that wand (Zeph would have to trick it, but yeah) Like he's tough ... and he can just cast Endure Elements on us, but why not just conjure something? LOL like one of the best Witcher scenes ever, when Geralt goes into the enchanted tent.
Zathra
I really like Champions of the Endless Sky for our team name. I'm also cool with most of us meeting in Katheer, joruneying across the sea to Tian Xia, then picking up Ryushi for our team. I'd assume we'd then do the gladiator circuit for a while until we drew the attention of Hao Jin and gained an invitation to the tournament.
I don't think there is a difference in familiar stats based on their form any more, Malik. They all have the same stats and the abilities you choose inform their shape. The exception are the improved familiars you can get at higher levels.
Cozy cabin is nice if we don't have a base of operations. Though with only three cots, either somebody has to share or somebody gets to sleep on the floor. :)
Archivist Malik Zell
Well, I'll let the GM decide how they read Trick Magic Item. If they read it as "you start activating, you can finish it" then Malik will take that skill feat, and buy himself a wand. Which fits nicely~
if not, then I'll dip Witch (and probably keep snares maybe), or take 2 Runescarred to snagg some house keeping stuff.
Either way works. I'll just have to decide and start so I don't get choice paralysis at this level.
Malik in fact can sleep on the floor w/out issue due to something he has ~ I really went full "what would his lifestyle have" on him. Sure hope I don't regret that haha. but he's a fun concept.
Plus I adore the idea of during a stresful 3 day tournament.. there's a few groups just sleeping in a cabin and cooking full breakfasts and bentos for the day.
-------------------
Malik doesn't relate to an endless sky. but he kindi of likes it. Its poetic. and might also fool folks looking at a team name as a hint.
Ukagi, Ryushi
Endless sky is good.
For Ryushi, let's say he's at a bit of a loose end, he's at the stage of his adventuring career that he's pretty much taken care of the 'low level' stuff but he can't really take on larger threats by himself.
The tournament is a pretty good way of allowing him to continue his endless quest to prove himself.
Would someone be good enough to throw up a sheet comparing our skills? Is Ryushi the face?
