Or, alternatively, now that I've read all the gameplay posts again, the airship to Goka.
Gurrllll, if you read all that, and didn't get that Zeph's mom is pulling the strings, well, #DAMN. I mean at this point, it's probably Zeph's mom who killed Zell ;) jajajajajaj, j/k
or am I?
That part of the paradigm is NOT changing, so, having missed lunch, I would say the team arrived back at the airship unable to figure out what happened to Zell ... until a message arrived from Zephyr's mother, shortly before you arrived, and you all had cocktails before the wardrobe party.
But I am open to any other interpretations or visions as well as a pleasant departure for Malik. Zephyr's family is family first after all: maybe Mother Zeph sent him home to prtect his mother.

Essri might have a high Perception, but that doesn't mean I necessarily do. :P

Happy New Year everyone!

I thought to myself, "who would it be funniest for Essri to assume is the leader?" And the choice was obvious.

I think it's brilliant really; like of course a little person would be in charge, it isn't like some longshank could be the leader ...
OH
Did you pick a trait that connected you to the Tournament Essri?
I can go take a look in a bit, but I didn't recall.
I just want to make sure that comes to light as we move forward.
Essri
I didn't pick one of the campaign backgrounds, unfortunately. I didn't feel like the flavor of any of them fit Essri particularly well, as someone who is eccentric even by kobold standards.

Should we talk about the spells we have? We've got full divine, occult, and arcane casters on the team :)
Ukagi, Ryushi
I think the hardest spell to pull off might be the Blade Barrier Ryushi has. If he can block off one of the three martials then that might delay them at least.

By the way if you guys think I'm being too overbearing then please let me know and I'll tone it down. I just love the tactics of it.
I'd suggest heroism on Essri and inspire defense for everyone. Ryushi should be able to buff Arryns and his own attack.

Essri prepares this spell every day
GM, question: my gunslinger subclass is very, very reliant on Stealth checks. Do you want me to roll them in the open, roll them in a spoiler (that only you can open), or do you want to roll them after I tell you the modifier?

I would love to know how to create user-limited spoilers for sure.
Let's do them that way for now, and I will also committ to reading about the class some more.| Essri |
Can't actually do anything that specific, unfortunately. We'd have to operate the spoilers on the honor system.
The primary way that the subclass uses Stealth is to become Hidden or Undetected to enemies. Usually, this just means they're flat-footed to my first attack from hiding, but it also has interactions with the Vital Shot and Ghost Shot abilities.
I won't have Ghost Shot until later, but I do have Vital Shot now. If I hit a flat-footed target with it, the attack deals an extra weapon damage die and they take 2d6 persistent bleed (3d6 at level 15).
There's other ways to inflict the flat-footed condition on someone, but Stealth is the easiest one for me. I can still use the ability even if they're not actually flat-footed, so knowing whether they're flat-footed to me or not mostly just tells me if I should roll the extra damage separately or include it in the total.

I mean there is a question of how we do secret rolls in general. In a starfinder game I ran I rolled a lot for my players to keep the game running and that might help? Stuff like saves and things? Maybe Essri could roll the extra damage and Zephyr could assign damage or not?

I seriously appreciate you bringing it up though, and I have just done a massive amount of reading about it. Yeah, it matters, especially given the progression in this AP: you will be 15th by the end of the frist module, and that 3d6 is a big deal. You need to be able to create the FF as often as you can.
LOL I guess we should have the hide-in-plain-sight discussion ...

Not at all! I can appreciate being prepared; although, my characters seem to have their own idea at times...lol!
Ask Essri!

Until you say otherwise, I'll default to what the book says: I'll tell you I'm trying to Hide or Sneak and post my Stealth bonus, so you can roll it secretly. If I use Vital Shot or something similar, I'll roll the damage separately, like this:
Piercing+Electricity: 2d8 + 4 + 1d6 ⇒ (3, 6) + 4 + (4) = 17
Vital Shot: 17 + 1d8 ⇒ 17 + (1) = 18
Persistent Bleed: 2d6 ⇒ (4, 3) = 7 This doesn't apply until the end of the target's next turn, but I think it makes sense to roll it ahead of time.
Another thing, because the character isn't complicated enough: the jezail has the concussive trait, so the damage counts as bludgeoning or piercing for the purposes of resistances and immunity, whichever is better for me. "For instance, if the creature were immune to piercing and had no resistance or immunity to bludgeoning damage, it would take full damage from a concussive weapon." It's still only piercing damage for weaknesses, though.
Ukagi, Ryushi
Same. Looking forward to starting.
Zephyr amir
In that case ...
Please roll your own Init rolls!
(as soon as you have a chance)
I will take care of Tino's rolls and post cbt order.
I will also post the Rules of Bonmu for you.
(yes, that means I will steal them from another campaign)
I too am a touch tired of failed campaigns.
We will not be failing ;)
Zephyr amir
Initiative:
The team was given an enormous time to strategize: you will use that.
(I hope)
The rolls will be presented as follows:
STRONG JAW
ESSRI
TINO 1
TINO 2
RYU
TINO 3
TINO 4
AARYN
This is so that you will make decisions based on strategy, not on preventable meta-awareness due to gaming mechanics. If you're going for the strongest, go for it, because they're strongest, not because they're first. If you want to eliminate the casters, do it when YOU want, not when you think the dice have allowed for it.

Team Alternate:
Zephyr amir
an obscure part of the Tournament Rules allow for teams to have an alternate. They do not allow for more than 4 opponents to enter a match, but the alternate can solicit, the alternate can heal, the alternate can "combat" the environment on Bonmu, and in many ways allows a team to continue even if someone were to be incapacitated or killed in the course of the competition. It is not a concession or special case, other teams could have one as well. One team does ...
Ukagi, Ryushi
That's amazing and thank you!
So I think we need to know a bit about the 'arena' and how far away everyone is from everyone else, and how they're clustered etc and then Strong Jaw and Essri can start the festivities!
Essri
Yup! I wasn't sure if we were supposed to start just yet and I think we probably need a map.
Essri
No worries! You can always use a premade map if it seems like it would be a hassle to make one.
Zephyr amir
I would totally accept help making a map at this point.
Clearly I am too stupid to figure out how to crop from the PDF
(although now that I said, that, I guess I could screen shot it and paste it into Paint)
Give me a minute.
But I would like to hear the "right way" to do it from anyone who wants to tell me.

I've found you can right click and copy image pretty successfully in most pdfs and pdf readers. It removes the labels on the maps too which might be good for what you're thinking.
Snip & Sketch that comes built in Windows is pretty great as a better way to screenshot as well. Then throw it onto imgur or something, or google slides, or powerpoint online.

Ukagi's got it, that's what I usually do when I need a map for an online game. You can then just paste it into Google slides or Paint (and then save that as a file to upload into Roll20, Foundry, etc).
Sometimes character art gets weird artifacting if you do that, but I've found that if you save it into a program that can do transparent backgrounds (like GIMP) then they disappear.
Ukagi, Ryushi
I see it!
Essri
Looks like we can all see it! My suggestion for next steps: Change the permissions for the link so that anyone with the link can edit it (so we can place and move our tokens), then add a link to it to the campaign info bar and to the tagline for your GM alias. That way, nobody has to go hunting for it.
If you want to get really fancy, we can teach you about using templates so that the map can't get accidentally bumped around.

First thing I'd do is put this into your GM alias's info under Race/Gender/Etc so it shows up on all your posts (just remove the % sign): [url%=https://docs.google.com/presentation/d/1ZvXotzTN8oVcXZnMnbCei5ejIffOW6yZKwiDU_qN_vk/edit?usp=sharing]Tactical Map[/url]
For making the map the background: I actually just went ahead and did it for you here, but here's the process:
1) Click Slide
2) Edit Theme
3) A theme and a bunch of different layouts will appear; scroll all the way to the bottom for the Tactical Map layout
4) Paste any map you want in here
5) Once you have the map you want, go to the slide where we'll actually be playing.
6) Click Slide Again
7) Click Apply Layout
8) Select the Tactical Map Layout
Voila, you have a map that people can move their tokens around on without accidentally moving the map.
