Herondal gives a big overly dramatic pose inspiring people as the image of his acting is burned into the retinas and minds of the people watching him for a long moment yet. He also then empowers Crunch to do their best and move faster.

Tapi mumbles scary sounding premonitions of doom and death under his breath as he readies to recall what he can about anything that shows up. He knows this type of forest well. The quality of the soil here is not great for many plants. They either have to dig down deep with their roots, or develop into carnivorous scavengers instead. If Blackthane was getting attacked, there's likely some of the latter around here.

Pytor searches to the north west of the group and finds nothing other than a somewhat obscured horizon far in the distance.

Delorn preps his magical shield. Sadly the sound was too imprecise to give you any sense of where it came from. Effectively it was a reason to shift to encounter mode instead of staying in exploration mode. You could try laying down a Faerie fire, but it's very unlikely to hit anything.

Carmelizzia drops into her bird like stance as flames fan from her fingertips. She looks to the north east not noting anything other than a few deep rooted trees. She then looks directly east and spots a small tendril of something that slowly slithers back into the trees.
Enemy spotted. They are hidden to you, and unobserved to everyone else as you don't have an action to point it out.

Hearing Carmelizzia's shout, Crunch puts their shield up and their head down and hastens in that general direction.

Not sure if I should pick specific squares, but Crunch is just trying to trigger or run into the monster. They're going east (to the far side of the tree - I've set the token there), then southeast (which, based on the faded image on the map, should provoke something), but if they miss then they'll perceive around them in an emanation (only +8 perception though).

In case they stumble upon a foe...

Strike!:
1d20 + 14 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 14 + 1 = 19 for 2d8 + 4 + 1d6 ⇒ (3, 1) + 4 + (2) = 10 and 1d6 ⇒ 2 positive

Sorry for the wait, work was a rush this morning and didn't slow down until now.

Delorn looks both East and South but doesn't notice anything of note.

Crunch starts moving around, the only one to do so, and after a moment ends up in large bit of underbrush. They step on a vine that gives a squirm under their feet before a large leaf comes flying out at the goblin.

Leaf 1 reaction vs. Crunch: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (3) + 11 = 14

But whatever plant was trying to get to them was clearly expecting a taller enemy and the razor sharp leaf goes flying over their head.

Additionally from the opposite direction another leaf comes flying out at them.

Leaf 1 vs. Crunch: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (14) + 11 = 25 Improved Grab, Crunch is now grabbed
Damage, Bludgeoning and Acid: 1d8 + 2 + 1d6 ⇒ (1) + 2 + (2) = 5

This one bludgeons the goblin and immediately wraps them up in a leaf. Crunch, energized by Herondal still has energy to lash out at the first one that missed them, and scores a good cut across one of it's big mouths.

Both of the plants are now obvious to anyone looking in that direction, given how openly they moved.

Both Pytor and Tapi try to recall something about the new foes.

RIGHT! You two had readied actions!:

Tapi's Bardic Lore (T): 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (16) + 12 = 28
Pyotr's Bardic Lore (T): 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (19) + 10 = 29

They both instantly recognize them. These are Snapping Flytraps. Like their smaller brethern in name they are conivorous plants that eat things much larger than flies. They'll eat any animal or person smaller than themselves without compulsion, grabbing prey in leaves that wrap around them before dragging the prey into a mouth to swallow whole. These mindless plants don't like fire or fire effects much, but are resistant to acid as they often have acid dripping from an open maw. They also can flurry both of their leaves around against two foes at once or against a single foe for extra damage and pain.

Assuming that that is not with the Inspire Courage bonus, that crits!

Delorn fires another deadly ball of fire at the flytrap and burns the tap root of the plant and then the rest of the plant as it turns to cinders.

The tree whips its sharp tooth laced branches around at both Carmelizzia and Crunch.

Scythe-like branch vs Carmelizzia: 1d20 + 18 ⇒ (11) + 18 = 29
Damage, slashing: 2d10 + 9 ⇒ (1, 9) + 9 = 19

The first branch comes down under Carmelizzia's defenses and slashes deep into her midsection.

Scythe-like branch vs Crunch, 3rd strike, backswing: 1d20 + 8 + 1 ⇒ (16) + 8 + 1 = 25
Damage, slashing: 2d10 + 9 ⇒ (7, 9) + 9 = 25

The next two swings go after the goblin champion. The first misses terribly but the second one slams into their shoulder and leaves a nasty gash under their armor.

As soon as the tree is finished whipping around Herondal summons a small fey behind the trees. It gives a lilting laugh as everyone near it feels the chill of unluck run down their spines.

Enemy saves: 2d20 ⇒ (10, 9) = 192d20 ⇒ (19, 11) = 302d20 ⇒ (4, 10) = 14
The two mindless creatures don't fall to the pugwampi's unluck, but the tree gives a shudder as the aura encapsulates it fully. The little thing then fires an arrow that thuds into the orange plant.

A moment later after continuing his healing performance for Crunch, Tapi summons a gravity well that starts to pull all of the enemies still remaining towards it.

Crunch tries to save Carmelizzia, but doesn't have a way to reach the tree to strike back.

Carmelizzia, for her part, slashes straight into the heart wood of the tree with her hands, but the blood red sap, teeth and bones inside it keep the wood from burning up like the snapping flytraps do. It's not got a weakness to fire.

The tree, slightly dazed by getting pulled out of where it had been sitting takes longer to recover than expected, and decides to start coordinating with the flytraps instead.
The tree will wait to move with the other, mindless enemies, so it can coordninate (and not because I want you all up at once... Nope, no way.)

I think the flytraps are meant to go before Carmelizzia (on round 3), but I will post her actions anyway.

It's been over 24 hours, botting Carmelizzia and Delorn.

Tapi steps up next to Crunch as he continues a soothing banter and hands the champion a potion to heal themselves with.

Herondal launches a slinging of dead leaves at the blue streaked plant, serrating the vines and leaves of the plant, while the summoned Puggy fires a few arrows at the orange one. Puggy, however seems to be suffering from his own streak of unluck and misses both.

Crunch takes the offered potion and downs it as they get into a defensive position shield up.

Pytor fires a projectile dead log at the plant with blue streaks but misses just barely as the debris breaks right before hitting and sails past the creature.

Delornbot moves closer and raises a hand to fire a bolt of fire at orange.

Fire bolt, IC: 1d20 + 12 + 1 ⇒ (10) + 12 + 1 = 23
Fire: 3d4 + 8 + 1 ⇒ (4, 4, 3) + 8 + 1 = 20
Delorn's fire bolt burns the orange plant to a crisp.

Carmelizzia activates her shield, before slashing at the tree three times.
Fire claw (agile), IC: 1d20 + 14 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 14 + 1 = 16
Fire damage: 2d4 + 3 + 1 ⇒ (3, 2) + 3 + 1 = 9
Fire Claw (agile) IC 2nd: 1d20 + 14 + 1 - 4 ⇒ (8) + 14 + 1 - 4 = 19

Fire Damage: 2d4 + 3 + 1 ⇒ (3, 4) + 3 + 1 = 11
All of her strikes however fail to connect or do damage.

The plants act and start to move forward or taking swings at characters.

The tree swings at all three people in reach, going for the heavily armored Crunch first.
Scythe-like branch vs Crunch: 2d20 + 18 ⇒ (17, 19) + 18 = 54 17+18=35 Hit
Damage, slashing: 2d10 + 9 ⇒ (9, 5) + 9 = 23
The scything branch slips up into the armor again and hits the other shoulder and leaves it bleeding heavily.

Carmelizzia gets the next branch.
Scythe-like branch vs Carmelizzia, 2nd strike: 2d20 + 13 ⇒ (6, 7) + 13 = 26 6+13=19 Miss
She dodges the unlucky swing.

Then finally the tree lashes out at the new and tasty looking Tapi.
Scythe-like branch vs Tapi, 3rd strike, backswing: 2d20 + 8 + 1 ⇒ (8, 9) + 8 + 1 = 26 8+8+1=17 Miss
Crunch and Carmelizzia if you would like to use your reactions and how let me know. ADDITIONALLY: Crunch is right you could use that Aid Token on the tree!

The snapping plant turns on Puggy and snaps at the fey.
Leaf 1 vs. Puggy: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (2) + 11 = 13
It misses, after a moment the plant lashes out with renewed force both heads snap out at once.
Focused assault vs. Puggy: 1d20 + 11 - 5 ⇒ (12) + 11 - 5 = 18 Improved Grab, Puggy is now grabbed
Damage, Bludgeoning and Acid: 2d8 + 2 + 1d6 ⇒ (8, 8) + 2 + (1) = 19
Puggy disappears in a puff of smoke.
