Everyone in the party can open the spoiler.

As the new pathfinders do not seem to listen, she shouts to them “I’ve dealt with Qxal before, be wary of his illusions!

Carmelizzia is able to pierce through the illusion on the stream. Her warning shout jolts the vetran Pathfinders and weakens the effect enough for the group to overcome it.

The younger Pathfinders looks back at her with a look of puzzlement. "What illusion? There's no illusion! Jo cast detect magic!"

They mutter and grumble but do seem a little more suspicious.
One success and one point.

The Pathfinders look back at the stream and then over at Delorn and Carmelizzia. "I guess if you insist we could try testing it."

A crit success leading to enough influence to convince them to not cross!

With some help they drag a giant log to the river and toss it in. It gets swept along in no time flat and the newbies scramble back.
"That was much more dangerous! We should go around. I guess the big river was right here all along... There's a bridge down that way, if that's the case!"

Okay Mushrooms HO!
Joining back up with the main group of Pathfinders, the group finds things to start moving at a good pace. Just a few minutes into the heavy cover of the Mwangi Expanse proper, though, the front of the expedition calls out a warning and comes to a stop. Calisro Benarry hops up onto a tall rock and looks through a spyglass. She curses slightly and then comments “Fey. Lots of them. Seems the front ranks are handling them fine, but they’ve got to be coming through some kind of portal from the First World.” She puts away her spyglass while gesturing for your group to come closer “I’ll go to the front and help them take care of that lot while you go look for the source, probably some kind of mushroom ring or portal. Watch for more coming through!”

Moving off in the direction that Benarry pointed out, Herondal immediatley spots a cave where a group of short hairy fey rush out and starts attacking the main group of Pathfinders. Closing into the cave there's what looks to be a ring of mushrooms surrounded but standing water. In the middle of a small shallow pond, a ring of large toadstools glows with a slight magical energy. The ground inside wobbles, appearing to ripple like water, as if it were possible to sink right into it.

The cave drips slightly in the background but nothing seems to be happening right now.

I'd be using Bardic Lore if I could, just trying to Recall whatever it is out of the ordinary that our attention is drawn to. In this case, Bardic Lore on the mushroom ring, since that's what the captain mentioned it would look like. If that doesn't work, I'd just roll Society to see if the area is historically significant or I heard any stories about it.

The Golden Serpent Maps | Actions: ◆ | ◇ | ↺

Tapi is able to recall various details about these types of things from the various stories he's heard over the years. These are direct portals to the First World and this particular variety reminds him of a story where a hero has to fight regular occurrences of fey attackers and tricksters appearing regularly. They ultimately find a ring very similar to this that when the hero approaches, spits out yet another fey. The hero ultimately destroyed the circle by tearing some mushrooms out and rearranging the pattern for a few others.

Tapi knows that it's likely to do something if someone approaches, but that you need to pull mushrooms (expert Thievery) or rearrange the pattern to disrupt the circle (trained Nature). But some mid level (spell level 3) dispel effects or just whacking away at the thing might also work.

As the Korred delays and chats, Crunch is able to successfully pull some of the mushrooms into a weaker mystical pattern and you can see a quarter of the portal start to turn back into normal solid rock.
That's a Success! Not a critical one though. You have 1/4 needed to fully disable.

Carmelizzia tries to dance and entertain, but her movements are hampered by squishy mushrooms underfoot and she nearly trips and hurts herself. She instead gets closer as she brings a mystical shield of energy up infront of herself. Note that the laughter the korred made would only affect people on a total of 10 or less or a nat 1 due to incapacitation trait. Tapi, take your focus point back.

Carmelizzia enters a stance and tries to take down one of the korreds. However even having him in a pincer position and with the Inspirational Courage from Pytor, he dodges her attacks with ease.
Don't forget Inspire Courage!

Pytor makes a shout that somewhat counters the otherworldly laugh that the creature gave, though everyone seems to be shaking it off nicely. He then is able to recall that these creatures are able to split off some of their hair and use it to tie down adjacent enemies, but that doesn't work too well on more powerful foes. Keeping his inspiring blathering going on, he also directs the young pathfinder to attack.

The newbie is, however, completely unable to land his dagger effectively.

Herondal gives a DRAMATIC glare that more than scares the black korred. It starts shaking a cowering in up next to the mushrooms and tries to back away as much as possible. A CRIT! He's frightened 2.

However it doesn't stop him and his friend from dodging the bolts of lightning that get shot their way. They try avoiding some of the mess, but can't avoid it all.

Tapi sets a dispairaging tone into his voice as he berates the fey, the one with white hair beads also looking shaken.

Kicking at the mushrooms, though proves pointless as he inelegantly takes out a few of the unimportant ones. Failure on the disable check there. It's a very high DC for this level.

Delorn has a bit more luck with the flaming sphere as he brings it a tidge lower and burns some mushrooms. His blast of fire however misses the whole thing entirely. A 14/15 would not hit period.

All the dice:

RK B: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (18) + 10 = 28
R W: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (17) + 13 = 30
R B: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (13) + 11 = 24
R M: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (2) + 11 = 13

Tapi also has a small flash of insight as he realizes that these portals must ahve been set up in a way that taking down the creatures they have summoned doesn't do a thing to the portal itself, otherwise the Pathfinders fighting them earlier would have weakened this one. Hint, this portal will keep popping out creatures until disabled and attacking the creatures doesn't affect the portal.

Trained Nature to disable. 1/4 success. Beating it to pieces is also an option.

Crunch is able to avoid the sound of laughter echoing through his armor due to the sound of Pytor's constant talking. He's also able to avoid the worst of the creature's hair tangling him up.

He then turns his weapon against the mushrooms and hits twice, dealing quite a bit of damage in the process, the hammer seems to work well, as the squichy mushrooms don't have much physical resistance, but the positive damage seem to be moot. However the damage seems to be just enough to get the aura inside them to glitch and start showing various different realms and planes.

33 damage to the mushrooms... which after checking is JUST enough to leave them broken.

The mushrooms give a sputter and seem to start summoning another Korred, but the plane flickers again the arm that had been reaching through is cut off and disappears.

Only two enemies left now.
I'm unsure on the rules about what happens to the enemies if you break/destroy the mushrooms so until I hear back from the House GM, I'm going to assume they stick around.

The korred in black hair beads tries to smack the two people around him before he runs off.

The first strike hits, but Crunch imposes his weapon and the club only does a small amount of damage. Resistance applied to dice roll. However the back swing with the hammer goes wide and misses the korred, but the wide swing also fouls the korred's counterattack leaving both parties unharmed.

The terrified korred then tries to run away from both of the fighters he's surrounded by, but takes a raking set of burning claws to his back as he does. 10 damage to the korred

Whoops, I had overlooked that. Thank-you for reminding me. Also I wasn't sure if the frightened would apply but double checking it seems that attack rolls are checks where damage is not.

Crunch moves in on the southern fey and hit the fey with their hammer, hard. The korred shakes off the excess positive damage but does take a meaty smack to the head with the hammer.

Tapi continues to bring doom down on the heads of the two remaining enemies, before then trying to mess with the mind of the weaker one. It shudders and seems to crumple some at the mental intrusion, unable to fight it off effectively.

A single lay on hands or hymn of healing will top off our dancer. One 10 minute rest for Refocus and the like? Tapi would like to study the mushroom portal a bit during the time, if we do rest here.

I vote for the combat over the skill option next. Our group doesn’t seem like the best at Nature or Survival, so I'm wary of "Charting" more than combat.

Also, can we boost and send another token? Or is my knowledge boost from earlier doing that during this time? If not, would using a focus spell with the healing trait boost the healing token? Crunch and I could both use our points, one on Carmellizia and one on the token, then the group just needs one 10 minute Refocus block.

The group heads out to look for Blackthane after healing up and recovering as needed. You hear from various people he headed to the front lines to handle some issue that seems to have popped up. Heading that way, you quickly enter the depths of the Mwangi Forest, the trees and the undergrowth thickening as you go. After a little bit of travel you hear the sounds of cursing and angry dwarven in the distance and burst through another patch of undergrowth to find Khoumrock Blackthane and a group of Pathfinders standing covered from head to toe in leaves and bits of vine.
