Here is the link to the Google Slides document. I will use it heavily, so be sure to check it from time to time. I will inform you all whenever I make an update or reveal a new slide. The link to the same document will be in the campaign's short description
I wish for all participants to include the following information, preferably to the Slides document's second slide. Posting them here is fine as well. The perception, initiative, and day job fields can include just the bonus.

Additionally, on the Google Slides document there's another line of text "Insert token here", which is to say you may import a custom image of your character on the document. If the field is empty by the time we start, I'll just take your user profile's image and use it.

Posted in the slides as requested. :)
He has a travelling companion called Shaggy. He is simply a Riding Dog and not an animal companion.

Will also has a "pet" hawk, but it is just flavor, no in game benefits.

@GM Deussu - He rides his dog. Thus using the riding skill and not the Handle Animal skill. His mount therefore will act on his initiative. He also has 23 Charisma so can attempt to make the Handle Animal checks untrained with a +6 modifier if necessary. I have three high level Druids so I know all the Flying,Climbing,Riding,Handle Animal, mounted combat and spell casting while mounted rules backwards and forwards. :)

I'm very happy to hear that! Too often the rules regarding animal companions and extra pairs of leg are handwaved. Non-combat trained animals will try to flee if hurt, and that would require a skill check, after all.

I'm a bit baffled. You have Scribe Scroll listed as your feat when in Pathfinder Society you cannot craft your own items (correct me if I'm wrong). And what lets you have Knowledge (nature) as your day job roll? The character sheet does reveal this.

That would be me not knowing what I'm doing.
I've checked and you are correct, there are no crafting feats in Society Play, I'll change that to something else.As for the Day Job it is also something I assumed. As a druid one of the ways to make a living is helping out farmers, and usually needs only the Knowledge(nature) skill, but happy to leave it blank if it doesn't make sense

@GM Deussu - Riding dogs are combat trained. They have the Combat Riding Trick set as detailed in the Equipment and Handle Animal section of the CRB so no worries there. That is perhaps why they are relatively expensive (150 gold). Purchased animals come fully trained. :)
All of this is detailed in the FAQ for Organised Play.
In general if you can ride an animal you should as it gets to act on your initiative and requires no Handle Animal checks and the time required to make them. So for a caster class you will need to reliably hit a DC 5 Ride check so you can automatically stay in your saddle and ride with no hands. For a combat class you will need to reliably hit a DC 10 Ride check so you can attack with your pet.

My apologies! For some reason I had not realized you haven't had previous experience with Pathfinder Society!
Day jobs are entirely optional and result in trivial gains in gold. A day job roll of 20 gives you 20 gp, and a scenario typically yields around 500 gp in the lowest tier. Some supplement books give a chance to use some other skill than Craft, Perform, or Profession to roll day job, but they are not applicable in Core games.
tl;dr worry not, day jobs aren't mandatory to your character's success!
Additionally, you may choose to play a pregenerated character in place of your own. A pregenerated character would be at level 4, and the chronicle you'd receive could still be given to Umdar. The Organized Play guide should have a broader explanation on how this works in detail.
And lest I forget, until your character hits second level, you are free to reshape your character entirely between scenarios! Only bought items stay.
Umdar Thornbeard |
Apologies as well, I did not make that transparent.
My fault for jumping in without fully knowing, as well.
Looking around online, the rules on Society play are a little scattered. I find a lot of guides for 2e, but not 1e specific, if you happen to have a URL for me, I'd be eternally thankful.
I would rather play a 4th level, more for the other players benefit.
I've found this url, and downloaded the core druid lvl 4, hopefully it's the correct one.
In practical terms, how does it work here in the forum?
Do I copy the character to a new alias or society play character and start play with it?
Or do I temporarily change Umdar's stats and put them back at the end of the adventure?
I'm fine with both
GM Deussu |
Just use all the stats of the pregenerated character (including race), using Umdar's name is fine in my book.
This product is most likely the correct source for everything in PFS1e. It has been forever since I last downloaded the latest guide, since I took a long hiatus in 2015/2016.
Download the product and see page 6. Copypasting is oddly difficult, since Paizo formats their text columns with line breaks... egh.
And nice introduction from everyone! The bar has been set pretty high...
Umdar Thornbeard |
I'm so relieved you said that, I had already posted on the Gameplay Thread and it would be harder to explain, like this is a time saver :D
Hopefully the last question (but probably not). The pregenerated character has an animal companion instead of a Domain. Shall I create a separate alias just for the animal companion or replace it with the weather Domain?
GM Deussu |
Under the rather strict rules you are not to change anything when using a pregenerated character. So during this scenario you'll have an animal companion instead of you weather domain.
Depicting the animal companion as part of your own character's portrait or on a separate alias is entirely up to you.
Umdar Thornbeard |
Understood, makes sense.
I've adapted the character stats on Umdar, I'll not create a separate character for the animal companion, I'll keep all the stats for it inside the character sheet.
Florin Leogil |
Got the message. I'm here
Umdar Thornbeard |
What are the rules on Absalom on Druid companions (a snow leopard in particular), are the city guards used to this sort of thing?
If not, then my assume my animal companion is roaming somewhere outside the city walls, waiting.

Ny'a |
Hi all, sorry I missed the messages for this game; I was away all weekend. Is there still a spot for Ny'a?
GM Deussu |
I'm fine with Ny'a joining at this point. If Kyra can make her leave it'd be better than just a random *poof* into thin air.
@Ny'a, join the group the way you wish.
@Bigguyinblack, thank you, your gesture has not gone unnoticed! If you wish to play some high tier Core game in the near future, I can set up and run it. I'd prefer to run something from the early seasons (0-3) since I own nearly all of those.
Bigguyinblack |
@Ny'a who are you a paladin of out of curiosity? I couldn't find it on your profile.
@GM Deussu a lot of the heavy duty core players retired from pbp so I doubt there will be enough interest. But when you get a new generation of Core players into higher tiers I have a few optios I can join with. Though I have already played much of the early stuff in core.

We lost internet at my house Wed night due to a storm, and it only returned in the overnight last night. I've leveled Ny'a up to 5 on my home PC, but haven't been able to upload those changes to her profile here yet. I will take care of that tonight when I get home. Her roll in Gameplay reflects another rank that I put in Diplomacy as a part of that level-up.
Sylvester Solstar |
I will be unlikely to post again until Monday night. Feel free to take 10 on any of my character skills (or roll if a Take 10 is not really possible). His entire character sheet is accessible in his profile.

Hi everyone!
I just wanted to let you know that I'll be on holidays next week, from Monday to Sunday. I should probably be able to get a few posts in thanks to the hotel's Wifi, but don't hesitate to bot me and move things along if I'm being too slow :)
Thanks for your patience!

Composing herself, Milena continues, “Lady Silviana retains a solicitor, a Chelish gentleman named Solvius Salbus. He works out of an office in the Coins called the Red Letter. He drew up the paperwork for my Lady to complete the transaction on Atlag with a man named...” She wags her pointer finger a few times, shaking her head as she tries to recall the name. “Mahdi Mahjub. No, Mahjub Mahdi! He does his business down in Misery Row, of course. It’s a small shop with several large windows to allow passersby to see into his display parlor from the street. ‘Mahdi’s Chattel: Absalom’s Finest,’ so the sign claims. Honestly, I think every third building in Misery Row claims to be ‘Absalom’s Finest.’ I wonder how many spies like Atlag he’s sold over the years? It’s a dreadful, dreadful business. I am not sure there is anything else I can tell you, but I am sure you understand my Lady’s desire to move on from this embarrassment? Good? Yes? Thank you.”
She composes herself once more, takes a sip from a glass of something stronger, clears her throat, and continues, “You seem to possess a keen understanding of how things work in Absalom, so perhaps you might be willing to perform a small service for my Lady. It would be unheard of for Lady Silviana to demand recompense for her handmaiden purchased from Mahjub Mahdi; however, were you to secure such a deal, it would be gracious gesture that might lead to a budding friendship, don’t you think? And should he refuse you, who were you to ask in the first place?...
I do know that part of it is asking for recompense.

I finished leveling Ny'a up to 5, including her mount (that was the task that was lingering).

belt of incredible dexterity +2 (4,000 gp; Wolf)
wand of mage armor (50 charges; 2pp)
riding saddle (10 gp; Wolf)
@GM, can you please double-check that I'm doing things right with regards to the magic items I bought for her Wolf? This is my first time equipping a companion of any kind for one of my PFS PCs. Thanks!

Has anyone of you played the scenario #5-03 The Hellknight's Feast?
Have you earned the Impressive Influence boon for Lady Darchana?
There might be some effect here.
I doubt I can make a big advancement to the game until Monday. So rest easy!
Also, I lied. I have nothing else before bedtime but update all my PbP games.

I'm doing some background research regarding all the little details in the scenario, and every so often I encounter something ridiculous.
The Absalom Lighthouse is located on the Pilot Island (as is the Harbormaster's Grange). The lighthouse is said to be 655 feet tall. For comparison, the tallest lighthouse in the real world is only 431 feet tall.
And I doubt they have any high-speed elevators to take the maintenance guy to the top. The standard stair step height in USA is 7.5 inches, so at maximum the lighthouse has 1048 steps to get to the top!
Maybe the light is magical, I sure hope so!
