GM bigboom |

Hey Everyone! Thanks for joining the table!!
Some standard things to do before we get started:
I'll work on a bit of prep and look to kick off within a few days (assuming everyone else is ready as well)!!

GM bigboom |
1 person marked this as a favorite. |

D'oh! I always forget to flip that switch! Thanks for the heads up. You should now have access to edit the slides!

GM bigboom |

Oh by the way, per SFS rules, pregens have boon slots but pregens don't come with boons unless something uniquely special comes up.
HOWEVER, promotional boon slots also apply! So if anyone has a t-shirt re-roll or other promotional boons to slot, please mention it either on slide 2 or on your character profile.

Supers Navasi |

Thanks for the welcome, GM Bigboom.
Slides updated, will make a gameplay post on the morrow.

GM bigboom |

Alrighty, my prep is complete! I'll look to officially kick things off within the next 24 hours!

Scottybobotti |

I just never changed it from the time I played Quonx. Do I need to put Obozaya's info in? I changed my tag line. I'm using the pdf file for her stats.

GM bigboom |

I just never changed it from the time I played Quonx. Do I need to put Obozaya's info in? I changed my tag line. I'm using the pdf file for her stats.
Gotcha! Throwing it in would make things a tad more convenient but nope, it's not needed. Thanks!

_Velloro_ |

When it comes to Starhip Velloro skills do not give a lot of opportunities.
He can be 5 round captain (Intimidate +9 - so one demand from each crew member ;)) a Gunner +6 and Chief Mate (Acrobatics +9, athletics +6)

Supers Navasi |

Hmm, Navasi's only somewhat serviceable in a number of roles:
Chief Mate (Acrobatics +9, Athletics +7) Captain (Bluff +9, Diplomacy +9)
Science Officer (Computers +9 (4 ranks))
Pilot (Piloting +9 (4 ranks))
Gunnery (Piloting 4 ranks+2 DEX)
Happy to fill in wherever least of a liability ;)

![]() |

Somehow, Dwinite does not have Engineering. He is an excellent science officer (+13 Computers) and a fair Magic Officer (+8 Mysticism).

GM bigboom |

Alrighty, kicking things off in the gameplay thread!
As for the starship roles, from what I can tell, it appears Iseph is the only character with engineering skills.

Scottybobotti |

@GM bigboom, Thanks for the writeup for Obozaya. It made it extremely easy to put her stats into my profile.

GM bigboom |

Scottybobotti: Actually, I can't take credit for this one. It was put together by the PbP community. Take a look here for all of the other pregens in BB code. But I agree! It's super helpful!!

A couple quick clarifications for slide 2:

GM bigboom |

A large and intimidating vesk looks at the others gathered in the briefing room and says, "You all better be good with a gun or a doshko if we run into trouble. I don't work with amateurs."
Oh yah.... Obozaya is gonna LOVE working with a ysoki musician!! Haha!

Iseph4real |

Ah... I thought the rule was level 4 or higher. You can't assign it to a character under the level range for the adventure... is this a special rule for this adventure?
Let me know for sure and I can change everything if needed.

![]() |

In Starfinder Society, each chronicle sheet has a range of levels they can be assigned to. I believe this scenario is 3-4. You can give it to a character in that level range, or to a character below the range - but they will not benefit from it in any way until they reach the minimum level, so if you give it to a level 1 or 2, it will sit there until they hit level 3.

GM bigboom |

Dwinite is mostly correct.
And on behalf of Paizo, I apologize for the confusion around how to apply chronicles earned from playing pregens. I'll try my best to clarify....
The rules are in the online "Starfinder Society Guide to Organized Play" located here:
https://organizedplayfoundation.org/Lorespire/Starfinder-Society-Guide-to-O rganized-Play
The specific rules around pregens are located in these two sections:
With these rules as applied to our game:
TLDR: The characters that you (the players) specify on slide 2 to receive the chronicle from this game can be either level 1, level 2, level 3 or level 4. You then hold the chronicle and apply the chronicle when your character hits level 4. But if your character is level 1, then you can elect to have the chronicle applied to your character immediately with a reduced cash reward.

Can we clone Iseph? He is our best pilot and engineer. Dwinite might need to hot swap for repairs, but he would be working off his good Int only.

GM bigboom |

Not sure what is meant by cloning Iseph.
But from what I can tell, it seems to me the best bet is:

Iseph4real |

Heh. We can download Iseoh into the main computer so he can pilot and be the engineer! :)
Positions sound good to me. Although Navasi as pilot means she can't be the best darn captain ever...

_Velloro_ |

If you would ask me I was certain that there is 6 of us ;) Darn it, I must have been half asleep ;)
With regards to positions keep in mind that they can be changed, I saw combats where it added some interesting dynamics. Especially that if the shields are intact engineer can be more useful being a pilot or even shooting ;) When there is time to patch systems and restore shields then the engineer is needed.
The thing is that the swapping of roles need to happen at the beginning of the round.

GM bigboom |

Yep, it is certainly true that roles can be swapped around at the beginning of the round. This is kind of tricky to pull off in PbP while also keeping combat moving at a decent pace.
My general take on starship combat via PbP is that I'm fine with posts and rolls falling slightly out of order for the sake of keeping things progressing - few things worse in Starfinder than one full week passing by and only a single round of starship combat is completed!
As mentioned in my GM profile, for starship combat, I'll usually ask everyone to post their actions and their rolls all in one go. If anyone is inclined, feel free to spoiler your dice rolls but I'll leave that up to individuals to do so or not. After everyone has posted, I'll sort everything into the engineering, helm and gunnery phases. So as a part of that time period when the round is open for everyone to post, feel free to swap around to different roles even if some other party members have already posted up their actions and rolls.
My aim is to keep things moving and fun while trying not to lose too much of the encounter's challenge - all within the constraints of this PbP medium.
On a side note, unless the party has really bad luck with rolls, I don't think you'll encounter much trouble with this particular starship combat encounter.
(Famous last words....???)

GM bigboom |

Ah, so you mean we "make up" an Iseph #2 for the starship encounter? I don't believe that is allowed unless there is some particular Society rule around this?
If there is, please do let me know as that would be immensely helpful and something I'll have to note down for future games!

![]() |

Yes, second Iseph stows away and randomly does work.
There are scenarios that grant an NPC for starship combat if the party has fewer than 6 people, but we can't slot them here.

![]() |

Oh by the way, per SFS rules, pregens have boon slots but pregens don't come with boons unless something uniquely special comes up.
Couldn't use it if we did, sadly.
(Also, Ayoko is only slightly better than not having an Engineer. 3+level is not a good modifier.)

GM bigboom |

Oh hey, you're right, thank you! I didn't realize point weapons cannot fire beyond that first increment. Welp, nevermind the shield damage... we'll retcon that out. I'll also assume Iseph diverted power to weapons instead of shields.
Hmmmm... And that leaves these goblin ships even more impotent than I realized. The inability to move AND shoot in a single round renders them pretty harmless unless there is some other strategy I'm missing. I think these critters will just be trying to force flybys...
If the party manages to disable another ship and take no significant damage, I'll probably call it.

GM bigboom |

btw. I am playing now Into the Veskarium it is 4th round of space combat and Starfinders did not hit even once. And we have 3 gunners.
Sounds like you can use some of the rolls from this game over in that game! ;-P
This scenario was written during the early days of Starfinder. So I'm guessing (but I don't really know) this starship encounter was maybe designed with balance that errs in the players' favor? Aside from suffering really bad dice rolls, I don't believe this 1-00 scenario starship encounter presents too much of a challenge to players.
But with Into the Veskarium being a season 3 scenario, starship encounters have been re-balanced to provide a bigger challenge, mayhaps?
Regardless, good luck with that one!

_Velloro_ |

Yeah thanks!
I would definitely take some of those rolls. It is a combination of really bad rolls + very suboptimal team (3 Mystics, 1 Solarian, 1 melee Soldier, and my mechanic :|). What could possibly go wrong?

GM bigboom |
3 people marked this as a favorite. |

Just in case there is any confusion, I'm going to sum up a few major plot points because they may have gotten a bit lost in the various details.
Do let me know if this helps clear up any confusion or if this summary wasn't necessary because the above was already clear.
Thanks and I appreciate the feedback!!

Iseph4real |

Always nice to have a summation like that. I tend to forget minor details playing in this format.
Of course, since I tend to have more than one game going that might not be helping... maybe it's me. :)

Supers Navasi |

The summary was really helpful, thanks.
It can be hard to keep things straight as time goes on, over multiple quests... especially if you're playing several games simultaneously.
A great help to check our bearings and adjust course!

GM bigboom |

Hey everyone! We're getting close to the end of the scenario. So just a request that everyone take a look at slide 4 to double check your details. I'll be using that info to fill out the chronicle sheets. Thank you!!!

GM bigboom |

Chronicles are located here: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/13x62_VSVxilgWJseyxCULpHRxwzEs8Qz?us p=sharing
Please take a look and post up if the chronicle looks okay or if you need anything corrected. Once I hear back from everyone, I'll archive this game and submit the report to Paizo!
Incidentally, if you haven't already played it and are interested in digging more into Salvation's End, I'll be GMing 1-20 Duskmire Accord 9 for Gameday X. This is a scenario that involves an exploratory mission into Salvation's End.
Thanks everyone for playing and hope you enjoyed it!!

Iseph4real |

Looks good. Thanks for running and thanks to all for playing!!!!
Edit: I've played Duskmire Accord. Very fun game with a fun cast of characters.

![]() |

Can I slot Digital Presence for the extra reputation, or is a pregen not Dataphiles enough? And Dwinite has Profession (Musician): 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (3) + 9 = 12 if Day Jobs are allowed.
I'm already planning on playing Duskmire Accord 9. Just a question which new character to throw in - bear or cuttlefish.
Great game everyone. It is always a pleasure to be in something you run, bigboom.

Scottybobotti |

Mine looks good. Thanks for running the scenario. Is a day job roll allowed? This would be the day job roll of the character my chronicle is applied to.
Profession: Smuggler: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (1) + 13 = 14

GM bigboom |

Ahhhh... the confusion of ever-changing pregen rules! I had to search around and look some of these up as well!!
Yes, the profession skill of the character receiving the chronicle can be used for a dayjob roll. See "Downtime" section of the organized play guide: https://organizedplayfoundation.org/Lorespire/sfsguide._.Player-Basics#Down time
However, all downtime activities (including dayjobs) are now to be recorded by players rather than GMs on their own chronicles. So for the dayjob rolls, please go ahead and write in the amount yourselves: https://paizo.com/community/blog/v5748dyo6shoe?Starfinder-Society-Year-4-Ru le-Changes
Dwinite, yes, as it turns out, you CAN benefit from Digital Presence. I've updated your chronicle sheet, please take a look! See "Applying Credit" section of the organized play guide: https://organizedplayfoundation.org/Lorespire/sfsguide._.Player-Basics#Appl ying_Credit

_Velloro_ |

Day job: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (5) + 13 = 18
@GM Bigboom thanks for running this! I loved this scenario. Sure you can see some rough edges, especially around space combat. But the story of exploring salvation end was cool. The Borgo being and his brother was a nice twist. "Even recording this log without him constantly peering over my shoulder is difficult" LOL!
Great game folks, one of the best Obozayas that I played with so good job with that!
the nice dynamic within the team, good banter!
Chronicle is downloaded and looks good!
Unfortunately I played the duskmire record game. But good luck with it, I will keep an eye open for other of your games Bigboom!

GM bigboom |

Glad you enjoyed it! But yah, now that you mention it, I should have included a little "dun Dun DUNNNN!!!" when it was revealed that Borgor and Bago are the same - just to emphasize it a bit. hehehe

Scottybobotti |

I've played 1-20 already, but thanks for the invite. I really enjoyed the way your ran the game GM bigboom. The Youtube videos were a nice touch. I especially liked the Rush Hour clip. Love that movie!
Thanks for the complement on running Obozaya. She isn't a very hard character to RP for sure.

GM bigboom |

@Supersuperlative/Navasi as soon as you confirm your chronicle is okay, I'll report the game to Paizo and archive this game.
Please let me know once you've had a chance. Thank you!
