GM Sedoriku |
Rogar makes the wise decision to not risk his life and limb to get the very nearly skeletal remains down in the hole without proper equipment. The group was sent here to find out about the place, not bury it's dead.
Loka and Eldon move to the otehr wing of the house and decide to try the door to the north.
Eldon, Search: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (12) + 5 = 17
Loka moves for the door handle but quickly notices there's some sort of whimpering, etherial whispering going on behind it. But it's not one, not ten, but hundreds of voices, some softly chanting prayers to Pharasma that their souls might finally be able to depart this plane. Some are pleading for someone to rescue them, and some are downright indignant that that priest never actually purified them to pass on like he promised.
You've found a haunt! The otherside of that door would try to take over your mind. You can try to either purify them with Religion (trained) or drown out their pleas with Perform (trained).
Lokaloka |
Lokaloka begins playing a tune on her pipes, attempting to drown out the voices to keep them sane.
Perform: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (7) + 6 = 13
Let's try that again, shall we?
Perform, Hero Point: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (3) + 6 = 9
Agh!
Dengar Oresniffer |
”Maybe its best if I try to use my god-given talents here?”
Dental starts with a little prayer. Cast Guidance on self.
Religion: 1d20 + 6 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 6 + 1 = 12
Ugh! I think I used my hero point earlier…
Rogar Orgrosh |
Oof!
Rogar frowns. "You'd think the murder-hands would be the tough one to clear." He waits to see if Eldon can help before giving up hope, though.
I knew Rogar shoulda taken those tuba lessons!
GM Sedoriku |
You haven't triggered them yet, you can try again, just make sure you don't have more than one person in the room.
Lokaloka |
"Ok. I's will try again. But first I's needs to prepare."
Lokaloka dispels the pipes she summoned and replaces it with a trumpet.
Cast Summon Instrument to summon a noisier instrument
Performance: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (1) + 6 = 7
it's gonna be a long night
GM Sedoriku |
Ouch that's a crit failure to disable... You have triggered the hazard sadly.
Loka summons a trumpet and starts to toot on it, as she does however, the spirits and ghosts start to wail and moan and plead. "That was... played a trumpet... mornings started... PRIEST! ... CLEANSING! ... PURIFY! ... SEND ME AWAY! .... NO ME FIRST! .... WAITED SO LONG! HELP! HELP! HELP!"
Loka give me a DC 18 Will save. You can use your Counter performance focus spell here if you have it.
Lokaloka |
She does have Counter Performance
Counter Performance; Auditory: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (1) + 6 = 7
Will Save: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (4) + 6 = 10
That's what I get for tormenting the GM with pickles... :)
GM Sedoriku |
Oh no, those are some terrible unlucky rolls, but luckily not a Crit failure!
Loka feels the voices enter her mind and starts to scream with them as he mind becomes a confused mess of spirit, goblin, and pickle. You are now Confused for 1 round
Going to move this to encounter time, given how this can go. Loka start planning how you'd attack someone, and possibly give me rolls for it if you want. I can control her as well if you wish.
Denger Oresniffer, Search: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (11) + 7 = 18
Channary, Scout: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (20) + 8 = 28
Eldon, Search: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (7) + 5 = 12
Rogar, Search: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (5) + 7 = 12
Thalaasi, ???: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (15) + 8 = 23
Luckily Channary, Dengar and Thalassi are able to get the drop on the bard and can try to break her free before she starts to attack Eldon. You can leave her be, or try to become a traget yourself. Or, if Loak's player agrees to it, try attacking her for minimal damage and give her a flat DC 11 roll to break free.

Lokaloka |
"You'se stays away from me! Get away!!"
Lokaloka goes berserk on the halfling standing beside her, not realizing that he's her ally.
◆◆ Telekinetic Projectile @ Eldon
◆ Unarmed attack @ Eldon
Telekinetic Projectile: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (13) + 6 = 19
Damage; Bludgeoning: 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6
Unarmed Attack, MAP: 1d20 + 5 - 4 ⇒ (17) + 5 - 4 = 18
Unarmed Damage; Bludgeoning: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2
GM Sedoriku |
Sadly confused specifies you must use your actions to be aggressive. There's someone next to you and you have attack cantrips (I assume) you'll have to attack. Maybe inspire courage to boost your attacking ability. Sadly the danger right now is you.
Dengar Oresniffer |
Dengar sees Lokaloka going after Eldon, and so casts Forbidding Ward on the halfling.
Eldon gains a +1 status bonus to Armor Class and saving throws against the target enemy's attacks, spells, and other effects.
GM Sedoriku |
Channary noticing that Loka is looking a good deal more lokaloka than normal, sitters into the room as a rat and tries to also be possible target for the goblin bard.
Who's she targeting (telekinetic) 1=Eldon 2=Channa-rat: 1d2 ⇒ 1
Who's she targeting (punch) 1=Eldon 2=Channa-rat: 1d2 ⇒ 1
However, the rat is very much not noticed as Loka seems fully focused on the halfling instead. She slams a plank of wood into his head and then follows up with a fist to the jaw.
Breathing heavily and with her comrade's blood on her hands. Loka gives a blink as the spirits stop their ramblings and her head clears.
Confused is done and Loka returns to normal.
Combat Over
Eldon: -8
Lokaloka |
Eyes wide and totally in shock at what happened, Lokaloka can't believe she inflicted that much damage on Eldon. Grabbing her scroll, she reads it and sends healing magic at Eldon.
Scroll of Soothe: 1d10 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5
"Eldon! I's sorry! I's not know what happened!"
Rogar Orgrosh |
Rogar doesn't even have time to react before the goblin leaps on Eldon with spells and fists, nor does he have time to intercede before she seemingly goes back to normal. He gives the goblin a wide berth just in case as he nods his head toward the offending room. "Uh, we good now, or is that thing gonna come back and hit someone else?"
If given the all-clear by one of the magicky-types, he pokes his head in and looks around.
1d20 ⇒ 17
Lokaloka |
Her beady red eyes flashing dangerously, Lokaloka fires back at Rogar "I's not a thing!"
GM Sedoriku |
Rogar checks out the room, and the very faint sense of the supernatural tickles his beard while the faintest of whispers weave through the air, but it seems that they've spent most of their power and won't be affecting anyone again soon.
The hazard resets, but at midnight.
Channary moves into the next few rooms, with caution, but there's not much in either but a servants bedroom and the very delapidated remains of a kitchen. Having explored the place and found all of the information you think you could, it's time to report back to Gorm Greathammer.
You find him sitting in a library reading a scroll about something, he perks up and gives a smile. "Ah, the Pathfinders I asked to look into the house for me. Did you find anything about what might have been happening there? What kind of place was it?"
We've finished the scenario! Thanks for hanging on with me and I'll get chronicle sheets together today/tomorrow, but don't be afraid to keep roleplaying some, especially as we'll be rolling into Game 2 as soon as GM Apoc is ready.
Eldon Goodbarrell |
"It's full of something Dengar called 'Haunts' and there's a corpse that was too dangerous to retrieve. I think something horrible probably happened there."
GM Sedoriku |
"That sounds like a problem. We'll send some clerics over as soon as we can get a group together. I'm glad it was Pathfinders who went in and not some locals. Any clues on who owned the place or what they were doing there?"
Lokaloka |
"Is problem! I's did something strange. Voices in my head makes me attack Eldon. I's glad that Eldon no hurt bad!" Lokaloka proceeds to describe what had happened.
Rogar Orgrosh |
Rogar snaps back at Loka, "I was talking about the haunt, you daft--" He throws his hands up in the air. "Gods above! Whatever, let's just go."
Back at the debriefing, Rogar remains quiet. Description is one of the many areas he's finding gaps in his abilities. When he joined the Society, he had no idea there'd be so much... talking. He feels like he was mostly useless. At Gorm's question, he finally pipes up.
"Pharasmins, most likely. The voices seemed to cry out for a priest of Pharasma to put them to rest. A specific priest, that is. I coulda been hearing them wrong, the whole thing was weird, but it seems like Pharasmin followers died there. Lots of 'em, maybe."
Lokaloka |
Lokaloka glares briefly at Rogar before saying "Oh. Sorry. I's though you'se meant me." She still appears shaken by her encounter with the haunt.
GM Sedoriku |
Gorm accepts the book of prayers and listens about the haunt. "Hrmm that sounds like a good possibility." He paws through the book and stops to read a few notes that the priest added before hand. "Whoever this priest was definitely had some misguided ideas about helping the dead. Thought that getting as many restless spirits together as possible and then purifying them all at once would be a good idea... Seems they died before trying it. Well, that means even more than anything that we need to get some clerics out there stat. Thank-you all for your help and aid. If you're interested, I hear the Masters of the three schools are looking to give fledglings like you some cross department training. Not a bad idea to participate."
Rogar Orgrosh |
After the debriefing, Rogar approaches Lokaloka looking somewhat chagrined. "Look, erm... Sorry I snapped at you earlier at the mansion. You just had a bad run-in with mind magic, and I'm pretty bad at being, you know... clear. About things. When I talk. Which I'm bad at." He coughs nervously. "Which you probably guessed. So anyway. I'm sorry. I really wasn't taking a jab at you, but I can definitely see now how that might've been how it came across. I just want you to know that I appreciate how helpful you've been on this mission. Moreso than me, most of the time. If there's nothing to swing Skeggøx at, I'm kind of useless." He shrugs. "Ol' Cletus made himself a pretty good friend in you. Next time I see him, I'll tell him you said hey." He looks around nervously, clearly uncomfortable talking this much at once. "Anyway. Sorry again. Hope I see you around."
