"Huhn, wha...?" Cevrik says, awaking to discover that the battle has ended. Then, as a comment is made about him somehow sleeping through the whole fight, he blushes slightly and says, "Just means I'll be well rested for our next challenge."

GM Mauve |

This next part is a bit confusing, so don't hesitate to ask any questions.
The roar of swirling winds becomes overwhelming at the entrance to this depression. The ground drops away at the entrance, leaving a sheer 30-foot drop right in front of Maud. Debris floats through the air, moving in a never-ending dance conducted by extremely localized winds. Chunks of rock, several of human size or larger, hang in midair openly defying any laws of gravity. A large, sealed treasure chest floats near the center of the debris. Halfway up the northern wall of the depression lies an opening that leads to a tunnel beyond.
The constantly swirling winds and subjective gravity seems to push any object away from the walls and floor.
Elsharon shows visible discomfort. "Obtaining that chest proves your mastery of this area, but you may also find your way to the blessed ground on the other side in order to pass."
She demonstrates the subjective gravity of the area by leaping forward and landing on one of the human-sized rocks before vaulting toward the tunnel entrance and awaiting the Pathfinders.
Description of room and how to cross it coming up in next post!

GM Mauve |

The chest begins suspended 25 ft in the air in the center of the chamber (you are currently 30 ft up in the air).
Each round, a PC can attempt a DC 12 Will save to "fall" in a chose direction, effectively changing the direction of gravity for you. This movement is controlled as though you were under a feather fall effect so you can fall up to 60 ft per round. You can attempt a second DC 12 Will save or Fly check during this movement to change direction or hover in place. Otherwise, you continue going in the direction you were going.
Instead of traveling by manipulating gravity, you can leap between the large stones suspended in the room. These stones wobble and waver by do not move from their squares. Once on one rock, you can attempt a DC 15 Acrobatics check to leap to another stone within 15 ft. Connecting any two points via rope will grant you a circumstance bonus on the check.
If you fail the Will save or any skill check to move, you will 'fall' in a random direction (roll 1d6: 1 down, 2 up, 3 north, 4 east, 5 west, 6 south - remember north is pointed to the right side of the screen).
You can move no higher than 50 ft above the ground before the sujective gravity ends and normal gravity resumes.
Each time you fail a saving through or skill check to move, you take 1 point of damage. If you fail by 5 or more, you strike a large chunk of rock dealing 1d6 damage.
If you have magical flight, you can move as you wish inside this chamber.
If you end your movement adjacent to the chest, you can grab it automatically as a standard action. You can attempt to grab it in the midst of movement with a CMB check.
Elsharon shouts suggestions over the wind (treating it as an Aid Another with a +2 bonus on any Will save, Acrobatics check, or Fly check.). She also offers to help any Pathfinder who loses consciousness.

"Whoa...this is amazing!" Liora gasps when the nature of the next trial is revealed. She eagerly hops into the windy chamber when it's her turn. Seeing that Cevrik at least seems to have already managed to reach the chest - and stop - Liora instead attempts to 'fall' just a little ways past it...

...
If you end your movement adjacent to the chest, you can grab it automatically as a standard action. You can attempt to grab it in the midst of movement with a CMB check.
So if I'm reading this right, the first check must be a Will check, right? but once you are on a rock, then you can start making acrobatics checks? Can we "jump" to the chest in this same manner, or no?

GM Mauve |

I'll say you can immediately jump to the first stone using Acrobatics check and then continue jumping from rock to rock using Acrobatics. The treasure chest is too small so you can't jump on it (you'll knock it away if you try).
Willard attempts to move closer to the chest. Indeed he does, but unfortunately hits his head on a large rock, cutting up his forehead. He uncontrollably 'falls' to the other side of the room.
Cevrik jumps out next. He's more able than Willard and stops right over the chest.
Yulau: 1d6 ⇒ 4 (west)
Yulau follows after Cevrik, jumping in and 'falling' towards the chest. She easily glides through the room, but bumps her head on some loose debris and nearly collides with Willard. (1 point of damage from the failed Save.
The sylph Liora feels at home in the wind. She easily controls the winds and flies with ease, stopping right next to Cevrik and the chest.

Will Save: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4

Damage: 1d6 ⇒ 3
Stepping out into the void, Kamishah is wrenched to one side, scraping along the floating stones before landing against the wall. A litany of unrepeatable phrases accompanies his languid flight.

Mr. Dumplington |

Wasn't sure if Dumpling would be able to do this as flying through will power seems a bit abstract, but ok.
Dumpling watches as his tiny master goes floating away and then, as the Halfling calls for him to come, Dumpling steels his resolve and...
Will: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 2 = 10
Will: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 2 = 8
proves that bears dogs were not meant to fly.

![]() |

Maud gets out her rope and squats like she's going to jump, but at the last minute she changes her mind and decides to try this weird "fly/fall" thing. She pushes off and concentrates on the chest in the center...
Will: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (16) + 4 = 20
heads straight for it
CMB: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (17) + 5 = 22
and grabs it! (I assume 22 is high enough to grab?)
Not sure what to do about the chest now that she's there, she starts to tie her rope around it to drag the chest out of the room once she's on firm footing again.

GM Mauve |

(If you don't make the second Will save or Fly check to change directions or hover in place, you continue to 'fall' 60 ft or until you hit a wall. So moved you all around a bit. @Yulau and Willard, you would have actually moved east - not west, so you hover near the entrance.)
Kamishah unfortunately doesn't have the willpower necessary and bumps his head on a large piece of rock.
Mr. Dumplington sees his companion and rushes out to him. He jumps out and flies towards Cevrik, but misses his owner and continues flying past him!
Then Maud jumps out, glides next to the treasure chest, grabs it, and continues flying past till she hits the wall.

I misunderstood the directions, I thought the CMB check would stop my movement on the chest by itself - I can make another check to hover, I just didn't think I needed to.

Maud pauses here to tie her rope around the chest. Then she lets go and floats north toward the exit.

I assume the magic gravity ends when we exit the chamber, but just in case...
Will (hover - if needed?): 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (20) + 4 = 24
Neatly landing on the surface near Elsharon, Maud takes up a stout position to hold the other end of the rope.
The rope in the center might help with some checks, as long as you can reach it? ...Although now that I'm rereading the instructions I think I did it wrong - rope is only useful between two rocks? If how I placed the rope is NOT helpful to my companions, then I will just pull the chest in to the landing and go in again next turn.

GM Mauve |

(@Maud, the way I'm reading it, the chest is small (maybe the size of a breadbox?) and not very stable, especially when compared to the rocks. The strong winds continue to buffet it around and it will move around the chamber (if you do not grab ahold of it). I'll say that you can only tie ropes around the rocks (which are fairly stable and do not move around). So let's assume you grab it and bring it to the landing.
Maud easily grabs the chests and 'falls' to Elsharon with it in hand. She places the chest down next to the elemental, ready to jump back in.
Liora tries to follow Maud's lead, but loses control and smashes in to the rear of the room.
Yulau is struggling in here - she just can't focus through all the wind. But she doesn't seem to move.

(Yes, Cevrik just stopped and hovered next to the chest. But Maud managed to pluck it out of the air as she moved and brought it to Elsharon. So it's all safe - everyone just needs to escape find a way out. )
Willard finds the willpower to join Elsharon and Maud while Kamishah struggles in the wind. The hunter flies south instead and hits the wall.
(Remember to add the +2 from an Aid Another from Elsharon! You only take 1d6 damage if you fail the save by 5 or more (i.e. Will < 7) and take only 1 damage if you fail, but not by more than 5. Kamishah would only take 1 point of damage. )

Willard, watching somewhat helplessly at the gravity phenomenon, will jump in and grab the rope, helping Mr. Dumplington hang on and ready to help pull his companions to safety.

![]() |

Kamishah, there is no rope near you - yet. Maud was scoping out the situation before jumping back in.
After watching her companions for a moment, she decides Yulau is in need of the most help (Sorry Kamishah she has less HP than you), and heads out to the East rock, wrapping some of the rope around the rock (probably takes like 10' of rope? Would that take my standard action I suppose?), and preparing to jump to the next rock closest to Yulau. She starts yelling encouragements to Yulau to let her know Maud's coming to help.

GM Mauve |

Yulau floats up about 25 feet in the air, hitting her head on a small rock. She eventually comes to the boundary between the subjective gravity of this room and normal gravity, bobbing between the two layers.
Maud gives one end of a rope to Mr. Dumplington and dives back into the room.

GM Mauve |

Both Kamishah and Yulau make it safely to the ledge, leaving just Maud hanging out there. Elsharon cheers on Maud, "Hurrah! You can do it!"
Once Maud gets back (an easy Acrobatics check with +10 to the check from the rope), everyone can look at the chest!
The chest is locked with a simple lock which requires a DC 20 Disable Device or a DC 20 Strength check.
You find a token in the shape of a fan, a potion, and six quartz crystals. You can attempt a Spellcraft check on the token and potion to ID. The crystals are worth about 50 gp each.. Elsharon graciously lets you keep the treasure as a reward. "For your mastery of the elements thus far."

![]() |

"So...we got anyone who knows their way around a lock?" Liora asks after looking at the chest for a moment. "Or do we 'open' it the old-fashioned way?"

![]() |

"A lock, eh?" Cevrik says, pulling some tools from his belt pouch. "I actually work with those when I'm not adventuring. Learned from my dad," he says with a grin.
Cevrik has a +6 to profession locksmith, +7 if he guidances himself.
The tiny Halfling moves forward, inspects the lock for a moment, takes a quiet moment to focus himself casting guidance, then starts in with his tools.
