Acid Splash: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (16) + 2 = 18
Damage, Focus: 1d3 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4
Seeing the others fall, and feeling her own wounds- Andwise lobs another globule of acid at the leader.
Dammit Tanssi. We could have really used you right now...

![]() |

Looks like Andwise must have posted right around the time I did and funny thing is he acted exactly how I botted him. I'll let you use your roll because you guys could use it.
Andwise splashes the leader with acid. Meanwhile, Sir Falcon continues fighting the other kobolds, slashing at one as it attempts to flee. Unfortunately the samurai has trouble landing any good blows.
AoO: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (2) + 5 = 7
Slash: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6
AoO: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (2) + 5 = 7
Slash: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5
At this point the leader shouts out, "Are you still willing to parley? No funny business though, or I will put an arrow through your eye!"
If the party wants to go out of initiative you can.

![]() |

Irlana aims her crossbow at the leader as he makes his offer. "Parley? Do you have another group of warriors hiding somewhere? If not, you're pretty well done!"
Fire the crossbow: 1d20 + 3 + 1 + 20 ⇒ (20) + 3 + 1 + 20 = 44
damage: 1d6 ⇒ 2
Hate to waste a good spell. Wish I could split the bonus to hit with the damage....
Confirm Crit?: 1d20 + 3 + 1 ⇒ (13) + 3 + 1 = 17
Don't know whether or not I get the True Strike bonus to confirm the crit?
If that confirms?: 1d6 ⇒ 5

![]() |

Yes, the rule is that you add any bonuses or penalties from the attack to the confirmation roll. The only exceptions that I know of are when abilities specifically effect the confirmation roll, like the feat Critical Focus
A surprisingly blood-thirsty Irlana decides that she is not going to accept the kobold leader's surrender and takes aim at him with her crossbow! Reflexively, the marksman turns and fires his drawn arrow upon her.
Readied Shot: 1d20 + 8 - 1 - 1 + 1 ⇒ (15) + 8 - 1 - 1 + 1 = 22
Piercing: 1d4 + 1 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 1 + 2 = 6
The arrow catches her in the knee and she screams in pain, but manages to keep the bow steady as she pulls the release. There is a snap and then suddenly a bolt sticking out of the kobolds chest.
"Egggraaggghh," the archer whimpers before swearing in Draconic and falling to the ground.
Mop up time!
ROUND 5
Sir Falcon -8, 2 Dex damage
Yellow
Kobold Leader - stardust, dying, prone, -25
Suizal
Irlana
Andwise -5
Ilvaria -9, unconscious, prone
Red
Blue
Green -5, disabled

Suizal Anemos |

Suizal starts, "Let's humor him. I'm willing to parley and see what he has to say."
Then a bolt flies towards him and Suizal turns and faces Irlana. "Nice shot there, halfling. Wow, that's impressive."

![]() |

stabilization : 1d20 + 1 - 9 ⇒ (17) + 1 - 9 = 9

![]() |

As Irlana starts to reload her crossbow she hears Suizaql's comment. "Ouch! That B7625$7#^d shot me while I was shooting him! Suizal, Can you help Sir Falcon finish the last one? And we need to be sure they are dead before I channel healing energy and possibly revive them!"
Can I see the Blue one? Or Green?

Suizal Anemos |

Suizal nods at Irlana. "Makes sense. He got what he deserved then."
The sylph turns her attention towards the blue kobold. "Hey there fella," she says with a smile. "How would you like to be frozen to death."
Ray of Frost vs touch: 1d20 + 3 - 4 ⇒ (9) + 3 - 4 = 8
damage: 1d3 ⇒ 2

![]() |

Just to speed things up, is the party fine letting blue run away, or would they want to hunt him down? Do you want to take prisoners or just finish the kobolds off? There's not really a right or wrong answer here.

![]() |

The only wrong answer would be to debate/fight/celebrate for three rounds until our drow is dead. Constitution 12. ;-)

![]() |

Ilvaria, you may be relieved to know that the situation isn't quite so dire. You're only down 9 hp, leaving you at -2. Or to be more accurate, she has taken 9 points of damage. And I believe your first roll was high enough to stabilize you, which is why I took dying off the tracker for you.

![]() |

Ahhh, thanks!! :-D

![]() |

I figured that I'd notice that you were bleeding out next round and stop to help you.
Heal to stabilize Ilvara: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (19) + 6 = 25

Suizal Anemos |

Suizal is fine with letting the kobold go. "It'll give warnings to others that we aren't to be trifled with.". She looks around the room at the downed drow and a hurting samurai and nods. "Good work team!" she says with a smile, oblivious to the others' wounds.

![]() |

Combat is over! You do have two kobolds who are unconscious but will wake up soon and a leader who has been wounded to the point of being unconscious but is still alive. You can decide what you want to do with them as you'd like, including just letting them go.
The two remaining kobolds turn and flee into the northern tunnel, leaving the party behind to heal their wounded and take stock of the situation.

![]() |

The party sees that the two kobolds knocked out by the color spray just have spears, slings, and leather armor on, none of which looks particularly valuable. On the other hand, the archer's bow appears to be very well made; as is the studded leather armor she is wearing (masterwork!). In addition, she has three magic potions in a bandolier and in her belt pouch there are 5 small gems and 10 platinum coins, similar to the ones found in the treasure room stash.

Suizal Anemos |

Suizal takes the potions before anyone else gets a chance to look at them. "Oh! Look at this!" she exclaims, attempting to identify them.
Spellcaft: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (10) + 8 = 18
Spellcaft: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (6) + 8 = 14
Spellcaft: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (3) + 8 = 11

![]() |

Suizal identifies one of them as a potion of cure moderate wounds. The other options look similar but she's just not certain that they are the same.
Potions specifically can also be identified with Perception or Craft Alchemy

![]() |

Looking around this large cave reveals that it appears to have been recently scratched from the hard-packed earth, and its ceiling is only five feet high. Several tons of debris fill the western portion of the cave. What appears to be the body of a man lies half buried under the rubble near the north end of the cave.
Unless anyone says differently, I am going to assume that the party just disarms the color-sprayed kobolds and lets them go.

![]() |

Irlana looks at the potions. Perception: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (7) + 10 = 171d20 + 10 ⇒ (13) + 10 = 23 "They could be useful. But let me attend to the healing. I need to be at least 30' from the kobolds that we don't want waking up. Or they need to be dead...."
Channel Energy: 1d6 ⇒ 6
She glances down at where the kobold arrow had pierced her. "Much better. Desna smiles!"
Looking over the wounds of the team she considers her remaining magic. "I can channel one more time, and I have one Cure spell left. And now we have potions for emergencies."
Should I use my last channel now? Ilvaria was down 9 and Sir Falcon 8, correct?

Suizal Anemos |

"Ah, these will come in handy." She hands the potions over to Sir Falcon. "We should split these up. I say take one, Sir Falcon!"

![]() |

Ilvaria opens her eyes.
”What happened? Is it over?“
She stands up and looks around and when she sees that some of the Kobolds are retreating she just shakes her head.
”Do we have the leader?! I want to question him!!“

![]() |

With Ilvaria's question Irlana moves over to check on the kobold leader. If he is still alive but bleeding she works to bind his wounds.
Heal: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (18) + 6 = 24
In the future I think I'll take the Stabilize spell so I don't have to roll....

![]() |

The kobold leader is unconscious but stable. If the party wants to talk to her, they will need to heal her back up to at least 0 hp (or use smelling salts)

![]() |

As the others make preparations, Andwise sits silently on the dungeon floor- entering a trance that is not easily disturbed. Despite the distractions, he reaches out into the ether and searches for the soul of Tanssi.
"I bid you return friend. We may have need for you yet. I hate when you are ripped away..."
1 minute to resummon Tanssi
As it returns, Andwise quickly shows memories and images of what occurred- before turning back to the others.
"We have no use for the archer- but the leader is probably useful. Do we question them here? Or do we carry them back to the town for the officials to jail and question?"

![]() |

"The leader is stable for now. We could tie him to the bars back there and check the rest of the tunnels. I just hope there aren't a bunch more kobolds to face."
We've still got a little more judging by the map. ??

![]() |

And an area the party skipped and there is also something in this room you might want to take a peek at. I mentioned it in yesterday's post.
Andwise brings Tanssi back into his plane. He uses his shared connection to fill the eidolon on what happened while after he lost the connection with him, at least the parts that he remembers. Meanwhile Irlana heals the wounded in the party with a channel of positive energy. Irlana also suggests tying the kobold archer to the metal bars in the treasury room, but in the meantime she remains unconscious.
I believe that with the healing Sir Falcon is sitting at 2 damage and Ilvaria is sitting at -3.

![]() |

”I agree that we should tie up the leader and sir falcon is already waking the lady up! So maybe before we start the interrogation the first search the other area that we have not investigated yet! I will soon return to the leader to start the interrogation!“ the Drow says and starts searching the new area with detect magic.

Suizal Anemos |

"What do we want to ask this kobold?" Suizal glances over at Sir Falcon as he pours a potion down it's throat. "Maybe they've seen what's his name. Hunky? Huncler? Hunclay?"

![]() |

Did we confirm that all 3 potions were Cure Moderate Wounds? If so, can I stop Sir Falcon from using the potion and use my last channel instead or CLW spell instead?
CLW: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4
And then we can search the "What appears to be the body of a man lies half buried under the rubble near the north end of the cave."

![]() |

Suizal identified one of the potions, but considering that they all appear to be identical, it would be logical to assume that they are all the same.
Irlana could use her healing spell on the kobold instead of the potion, unless Sir Falcon would really like to commit to that action.
Either way, the kobold wakes up.
The kobold struggles against her bonds at first, but quickly settles down. "Why did you capture me alive? Are you softskins planning on eating me? Or just torture me for fun? Curse you and your brood either way," the kobold says, spitting on the ground in disgust.

![]() |

Intimidate : 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (12) + 10 = 22
Ilvaria sighs.
"You are mistaken! We did not even want to fight you. We came here because the tower collapsed and wanted to find out why! We let your other kobold friends leave and even stabilized those that have fallen. And we healed you. We want to know what is going on here! Please!" Ilvaria says and looks at the kobold intently.

![]() |

"Okay, okay!" the kobold shouts. "I can give you some information but I still want to know what you're going to do with me.". Her eyes narrow as she looks at Sir Falcon. "The one I'm worried about is that human you have with you. He looks violent. So what do you say? Are you willing to let me go if I help you out or are you going to cut me up with that sword of yours?"

![]() |

The intimidation check worked to make the kobold Friendly for awhile, as it does. But she's still trying to discern what the party's motives are and work out the best deal possible for herself. And for some reason she seems particularly interested in gauging Sir Falcon's feelings.

![]() |

diplomacy: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (19) + 3 = 22
Irlana steps between the kobold and Sir Falcon. "Why would we kill you after healing you? We didn't want to fight you to begin with. But you trapped the place and attacked us!"
"Like she said, we're just here to figure out why the tower collapsed. You help us and you can go back with your people. Some of them might need your help, your leadership."

![]() |

"We put the traps down to deal with the deadites! For all I know you are in league with them and you moved me in here so I wouldn't see them chewing on my warriors!"
She looks disappointed that Sir Falcon still hasn't addressed her.
Sense Motive: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (7) + 3 = 10
"I don't like that human. Why doesn't he talk?"
The kobold then lets out a sigh. "I guess if you're going to kill me, there's not much I can do about it." She looks up at the group and laughs. "You want to know why the tower collapsed? Well that was our handy work! Too bad it collapsed a little more than we expected it to. Our math must have been a little off."

Suizal Anemos |

"Why did you collapse the tower?" Suizal accuses the kobold. "It was a perfectly fine tower." She looks a bit surprised that the kobold can do math. "If we do let you go.... you can't go around collapsing buildings that you don't like."

![]() |

"Sir Falcon's question is important. If the traps were for 'deadites', they must have been dangerous? What are they?"

![]() |

"I think you call them deadites, dead something. I don't know all the words humans have for everything," she snaps. "Sometimes when humans die, they come back evil and crazy. It's humans who have that problem, you never see that happen to kobolds. There were a bunch of them in this room and they tried to eat us after we broke through the wall!"
"We collapsed the tower because some human hired us to do it. Too bad he died. He paid us half up front."

![]() |

”What human? Can you describe him or show us his body?!“ Ilvaria asks.

![]() |

"I think he was an old human. He had white hair and a beard. A rock fell and he died. His body's in the other room"

![]() |

Ilvaria nods and wordlessly moves to the body.
She casts detect magic and investigates the body and if the man has anything that helps to identify him.

Suizal Anemos |

Does the description match Hunclay?
Suizal nods. "Show us the body."

![]() |

Andwise watches the exchange, with his hand gently resting on the shadowy form of Tanssi. He bites his tongue at Ilvaria's tactics- giving a sigh of relief when Irlana steps in.
"What math were you trying to do? It seems like a pretty significant miscalculation. I hope whatever he paid you was worth it... But for now, we need the body"
Diplo, aid: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (20) + 9 = 29

![]() |

The body is back in the chamber where the party fought the kobolds. Ilvaria does not detect any magical aura on the corpse. The archer points the body out to the group. "That's him. Next to two more of my warriors."
The body in the rubble was an old balding man with a white beard. His garments were once expensive, but have been ruined when he was killed. Nearby in the rubble are the bodies of two more kobolds, still clutching spades in their hands.

Suizal Anemos |

Suizal studies the body. "Yep, that was him," she announces, not knowing if she's right or not. "Thank you for showing us this body. We should bury him.".
She then glances at the dead kobold warriors. "What are kobold death rites? Should we bury them too?"
Turning to her companions, "I wonder why he wanted the tower to be collapsed. Maybe he found something important.". Suizal starts rummaging through the corpse's pockets, looking for anything important and not caring too much about disrespecting the body.
