Hey Phineas!, Hey Arlo. Good to see you both!
And the most important Hi @Gm Glyn, thanks for running this game for us!
Phineas Hatt |
Likewise, Xun! I did recently take a boon that may be of assistance to everyone who is level 3. Which should be Arlo and Xun so far.
Mentor, Magical
Prerequisites: Liked by Grand Archive
While working with less experienced Pathfinder allies, you provide key spellcasting insights that augment your colleagues’ magic. Any PCs benefiting from a Level Bump and whose levels are lower than yours can prepare one additional spell of their highest-level spell slot or cast one additional spell of their highest-level spell slot. When casting spells of a magical tradition that is the same as the tradition you use for spellcasting, the affected PC also increases the Level Bump’s modifier to spell DCs to 2.
Normal A Level Bump increases a PC’s spell DCs by 1, and it does not grant any additional spells prepared or spell slots.
Special A PC can only benefit from two mentor boons.
Arlo Rumble |
Hi Xun! Good to see you again!
I think the mentor boons only apply when we get a level bump, which I believe is only when we play high tier. Which, at the moment, does not seem the case.
(Please correct me if I'm wrong.)

Yes, the mentor boons only apply when there is a level bump due to disparity in levels of characters.

Note: Slow tracking as to not level up between these two sessions.
I'll have the profile updated and completed tonight. I just need to finish a few other things before.
Xun Saburo |
Hey @Madscientistworking, good to see you again. I see you have 'a thing' for green races that can hold their ground in the thick of combat.
Wow, this will be one spell heavy team ;)
Arlo Rumble |
Like I said in the signup sheet, I can also bring a level 4 Ranger, if we want a bit of a frontline, though I'm curious to see how this goes. :)
GM Glyn |
Good everyone signed in has checked in and posted. All the character sheets look good.
Challenge points total is 11 which is in the lower tier 3-4 with no level-bumps.
Looks like a good group!
Arlo Rumble |
Also, I'm a one-glyph GM, so I can hand out a Hero Point to someone. I tend to roll randomly, so I don't favour anyone in particular.
Hero Point: 1d4 ⇒ 3
Hero Point goes to Phineas!
Arlo Rumble |
Preparation for me:
School item: I'll grab a Scroll of Restoration.
Spell preparation:
0: Daze, Guidance, Light, Shield, Stabilize
1: Create Water, Fear, Sanctuary
2: Calm Emotions, Sudden Blight
Druid 0: Electric Arc, Ray of Frost
Xun Saburo |
@Arlo with regards to animal shape and casting. I read some posts about Wild Druids. It seems that:
- As an animal, you can't speak which means that you can't cast any spell that has a verbal tag
- some animals don't have hands and manipulating with paws can be questionable => you can't cast any spells that have a somatic tag.
So for the most part the decision is: you can't cast when in a changed form.
However, there could be shapes in which there should not be such restrictions: Monkeys are perfectly capable of using their hands just as good as any human can. 1-action heal is only a somatic spell which means you don't have to speak to cast it. But probably it will be a discussion with the GM ;)
Arlo Rumble |
Yeah, I figured as much. So it's pretty much the same as in PF1. Thanks for confirming. :)
Xun Saburo |
Just for the record, my comment was tongue in the cheek. I've spent two cantrips attacking the thing and Azel did 3 times more damage than Xun did ;) (partially due to level 3 vs lvl 5)
Just outside of talking, what is left of bard ;)
Azel the Rebel |
I figured you weren't upset. It's just that its worth acknowledging that doing a 1/4 of the total damage done to a monster isn't insignificant especially since given the disparity.
Xun Saburo |
@Phineas - you used Animal form right? Are you making bludgeoning damage?
GM Glyn |
As always let me know if any on the Chronicles needs to be changed.
I had a great time GMing for the group!

Please double-check the character number for Phineas Hatt, when reporting the game 2002 show a different name and when I typed in the name it showed 2003 as the character number.
Arlo Rumble |
Thank you for the game! I look forward to the next one. :)
Though the chronicle seems to have a mutually exclusive boon, should we cross off one?
Xun Saburo |
Now I saw that I made a day job saying: Perception (it was supposed to be Performance ;)) Either way the rest looks good.
I had a blast playing this scenario with you all. No only as our team was a bit unorthodox: Druid, Cleric, Sorcerer, and Bard. We are only missing a Wizzard to have all of the spellcasters. But RP wise it was enjoyable, despite the low level I found Xun relevant to the scenario and outcomes of encounters (sometimes with big discrepancy of levels the balance is a bit off).
Thank you for the game and I can't wait to play the second one!
Arlo Rumble |
Yeah, an all-caster team seems much more doable in PF2. And yeah, I think everyone had a chance to shine, so that's good. :)
Xun Saburo |
Fists do bludgeoning traditionally, yes.
Sorry, I forgot to explain what I was after. I was hoping that the gargoyle had something like stone skin which gives resistance but not to bludgeoning damage. In your posts, I saw you did not include the type of damage that your attacks made. So I wanted to bring it to attention, but as Gm did not react I assumed it is resistant to all types of damage.
Azel the Rebel |
As always let me know if any on the Chronicles needs to be changed.
I had a great time GMing for the group!
Thanks it was a fun game. I did want to slowtrack this scenario so I wouldn't level up for the next scenario. Outside of that looks good.
Also yes all spellcaster parties are doable for the most part in Pathfinder 2e. Especially, in regards to the last combat where spellcasting helped bypass its damage resistance.

If it doesn't mess with tier, I don't mind you leveling up.
GM Glyn |
Parties with challenge points of 15 or less always play in the lower level range
Did anyone else level up?
Currently
Azel 6th = 6cp
Arlo 3rd = 2cp
Xun 3rd = 2cp
Phin 4th = 3cp
total = 13cp lower teir.
Azel it no problem for me to fix the Chronicle and edit the reporting, just let me know.
Arlo Rumble |
I get that. The only thing is that we might get higher CP enemies, but that's much less severe than going up to high tier.
I don't level up, so everything's okay for me.
Azel the Rebel |
On my sheet, did I gain any treasure from the adventure; it's just showing the day job money.
Thanks!
You should have treasure on there. You gain access to the scroll staff which is a pretty cool uncommon weapon.
Xun Saburo |
Right, except on my sheet there's no GP earned in that field.
When I opened your chronicle from dropbox I can see the GP earned
Arlo Rumble |
No, I see it as well. Phineas has day job money, but no "regular" money.
Xun Saburo |
Face-palm. Sorry, you are right. I've mistaken a hobbit for a gnome. I opened Arlo's chronicle thinking that it was Phineas.
GM Glyn |
I will alert People for the Ethical Treatment of Gnomes immediately. Expect a sternly worded reprimand from the First World.
After a quick investigation the dwarf assistant paymaster was found to be cooking the books. He has been reassigned to mucking the dragon pens.
Your Chronicle sheet has been corrected.
I apologize for the mistake.
