Ceolor uses the comms in his suit to send back a text message, trying to avoid making more noise than needed, at least until he's made sure there's no danger up ahead still.
//I'm thinking the controls are in that center area, but I want to make sure there's nothing dangerous here before we all just walk in. I'm going ahead.//
He peers into the room some more, glad he grabbed some googles for these kinds of low to no light situations. Taking his time he slowly moves forward.
Perception again?: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (5) + 8 = 13

No sign of anything dangerous in here. It just looks like everything is in 'standby mode'

![]() |

Ceolor takes the time to sweep through the room, keeping an eye on the places he is stepping and the devices around him, but risking his biscuit in case of traps or hidden enemies.
Following a path as on the map.
If the path proves clear he gives an all clear for anyone with computer hacking skills to come in.

![]() |

Ceolor is able to give the all clear and Dr Morvius is quite sure it won't take much to get the computing system, including the AI, up to full operation

![]() |

Yarameh stands next to Dr.Morvius.
- Come on, Doc, open this can quickly. I don't like the fact that we haven't been attacked yet.
It seems that she is unnerved by the fact that she cannot smoke (opening the helmet in a radiation-infected place is not good according to popular belief).

Booting up the computer mainframe requires no special actions, but while the desktop monitors display standard work screens with Izalguun apps and operating code, the large vidscreen displays the live image of an androgynous izalguun against a pale-blue backdrop. The izalguun image observes the closest person for a moment, then morphs its form to emulate an androgynous version of that person’s race. It introduces itself in Izalguun.
So, who gets to be emulated?

![]() |

Seeing the image pause and start to analyze the people standing close by, Ceolor gets a fey smile on his face and moves up behind Yarameh, and gentle nudges her closer to the vidscreen.
I vote for Yarameh!

Whoever has the highest Diplomacy bonus - or speaks izalguun

Yarameh takes a step forward... and then she's looking at another half-drow on the screen!
- Что ж! Проведем эксперимент. Ты понимаешь мой язык? Можешь быстро обучаться?

- Oh, I've figured out a way to help you learn...
Without waiting for an answer, she touches her handheld tablet, connects wirelessly to the base's computer, and pours Abysshead music virus into it.
- Скажи привет приятелям с моей родной планеты. Думаю, это поможет.

It doesn't take long for the ships AI to pick up the drow language and starts probing Yamarah, and the others, for information about their species, their presence on the ship, the fate of the izalguun
passengers, and the status of the Scoured Stars (which it refers
to as “Kadrical’s Cage”).
The AI, which calls itself A-1 begins with questions about your races, origins, and histories. You can pique the AI’s interest with a successful Bluff, Life Science, or Charisma-based Profession check, gaining a +2 bonus for inspired roleplaying or leveraging content from their individual backstories.

Ceolor gives a smile as the robot starts to pick up the Drow language. He steps up himself ande starts to use Elven, given the roots the two languages share, it shouldn't be too difficult to comprehend. He pulls out his own data pad, luckily already infested with Abysshead adware, and starts to upload a copy of one of his first books, An Akitonian Abroad, the elvish translation of course. "I'm what our people calls a Hylki, we are native to a desert planet called Akiton, the people from there are called Akitonians by outsiders. The planet... has seen better days as most people live in abject poverty. I was able to make it out due to my writing, and I support my family and hometown as best I can. But now I travel around with a groupd called the Starfinders." With this he uploads a recruitment brochure in Elvish, and adds in the Akitonian version as well.
"They're an organization that travels the stars helping, exploring, and learning. They also have great travel benefits! Which is why I travel with them, to write new novels!"

We did great work, but after so many decades I decided to move on to more chaotic endeavors, and here I am. What a marvelous life it has been!"

The AI is prompted to detail how the izalguuns largely stayed on Callion-2 back in Kadrical’s Cage, fighting off the occasional jinsul crusader ship but otherwise mostly using their military to keep the peace among their own people, who chafed under Kadrical’s oppression and frequently lashed out at each other out of frustration. Many izalguun leaders condemned these insurgents’ acts of domestic violence, lamenting how their advanced technology afforded the terrorists the power to cause massive harm to civilians
The AI then asks about Kadrical’s Cage, the vanished deity and his divine heralds, and where the izalguuns ultimately landed. You can give succinct, accurate summaries with a successful Culture, Diplomacy, or Physical Science check.

Dr. Morvius begins quietly speaking with the AI.
"Much has transpired in the recent months and years. The Izalguuns? They have mainly settle here on the planet we call Icefront. It's where this ship currently sits."
Dr. Morvius then harkens back to his time fighting the Jinsul.

Ceolor pulls up a small report about the Scoured Stars he's been building on his phone.
I've GMed 2-00, but Ceolor has yet to play through it, though he will be once I get the other Scoured Stars stories completed, so I'm going to assume this is chronologically after that.
"There has been much going on in recent times, but probably most noticiable was the rampent agression by the Jinsul, also from Kadrical’s Cage, if I'm not mistaken"

This is enough to prompt A-1 to describe the religious, cultural, and ethical debates among izalguun leadership while they flew on their uncharted course away from home, including how an initially unpopular idea of “wiping the technological slate clean” once they found a new planet had been gaining traction over time.
It then probes you about what you know of the izalguun starship and the other izalguun technology.

Ceolor steps to the side for a second as reality seems to glimmer around his data pad for a second. He then pulls up a file on it and starts to read through it. "Well, I can't garuntee it's the same for this reality, but I believe that most izalguun decided to forsake most kinds of advanced technology, I think they only left their medical practices in place. I can give you more details from an adjuacent reality where this has been studied in more depth..."

The AI is coaxed to describe several repositories for unwanted devices that the izalguun leaders constructed as they were establishing their new home on Izalraan. you can recognize one of these as the repository from which the Society recovered the Tear that led to their second expedition to the Scoured Stars, but the others are unknown even to Naarma, including one repository on a lonely asteroid clinging to the outermost orbit of Izalraan’s sun, and another near the core of an adjacent planet with no atmosphere.
8 successes totalA-1 will then provide an alternate route to the power core with the warning that any security robots run on their own power and will react to anyone entering the core as a security breach to be eliminated. It also tells you that this alternate route appears to be rigged with some kind of trap laid by previous intruders. It also warms up the ship's internal nuclear containment protocols. This grants you a +4 bonus on saves against non-magical radiation as long as they remain in the izalguun carrier, which stacks with bonuses provided by armour or radiation buffers. If this bonus means your Fortitude save modifier is higher than the DC of the radiation, then you are immune to that level of radiation.
A-1 reveals the location of a secret compartment. Inside is an orange case made from hard plastic with the text “In case of fallout” written in Izalguun on its central white label. Inside are rows of syringes, with six containing green fluid, six containing white gel, and six containing grey powder. Each green syringe functions as a dose of tier 2 antitoxin that also protects against radiation poisoning, while each white and grey syringe is a white or gray nanite hypopen, respectively.

![]() |

The journey to the power core via the alternate route provided by A-1 takes one hour, winding through back corridors and emergency access tunnels that were clearly only ever meant to be seen by the ship’s engineers. As you descend deeper into the starship, the radiation level gradually increases to medium, rendering those without armour with an item level of 7 or higher vulnerable after 30 minutes of travel.

![]() |

Dr. Morvius takes the case and makes sure to understand their uses.
So the tier 2 antitoxin simply provides the same bonus against poison AND radiation sickness? Or is it something we can take a dose of now which will protect us through most or all of the next part of the adventure?

![]() |

"Well fellas, looks like I'll only be able to travel with you all so far before the radiation would become dangerous. I wish you all the best of luck, and I'll spare no efforts in fighting off any other robotics that wander about."
DuQuesne only has level 5 armor, oopsie

![]() |

Ceolor grins as he double checks the radiation rating of his armor and the climate control unit on it. "Seems I'm good for traveling further ahead."
Armor plus the control unit makes the item level for things like this over 7

![]() |

...definitely do not have ilvl 7 armor. So since armor is lower level it grants +4 vs higher levels of radiation, along with another +4 from A-1's protocols. So rolling +8. Second-1 also installed a radiation buffer before we left (in initial posts) so +2 more for +10 vs radiation.
"Anyone else starting to feel a little off?"

![]() |

It is possible to make an Engineering check to cannibalize some of the radiation-resistant materials synthesized into the surrounding ship frame to help patch anyone with unprotected armour, allowing them to only have to save against the medium radiation once every hour instead of once every 30 minutes until they take any energy or kinetic damage.
Speaking of which, as you all proceed, unless anyone is wimping out, you start to notice that the area up ahead have evenly sized scratches in the metal.
