Doing a double take and realizng Scarred One has already agreed a 3rd eye opens up on the Devil's forehead and a vertical plane of red light passes over Scarred One, first slow then faster and faster.
Desperetly looking for cover he zig zags his way, trying to lose pursuit of the devils. The vision of a thousand eyes peering as though a fly continues doggedly after the escaping hero. Other devils give up or lose pursuit. The man changes direction after spotting a large horrific spider like creature behind a pair of double doors before doubling back via a side passage.
There is no one else in pursuit now but the thousand eyed memory is getting closer. Finally the fleeing man opens a door, and seeing no other escape dives into the tub. The eyes catch a glimpse of the room to the side though and there's a feeling of resistance but the eye turns away from the man and heads in through one door, into a small hallway into another room. There an elongated disgusting tongue sticks into view and begins cleaning the walls...
Yan Tovis |
Yan stares at the beam of light, mouth in a wide O.
What happened? Are you okay, Scarred One?

"One of my ending conditions is being mortally wounded defending the Vaults from surface dwellers, and based on the the historical case of House Asgavan vs Jiraviddain, Duke of Fissures setting the "Mortal Wounds" threshold at 90% of the force necessary to slay... Good bye."
The devil poofs away, the scent of Brimstone left in its wake.
Oorgatch |
”What did it show you, old one?” asks Oorgatch. ”This is a fine result. As good as dealing with ghouls and mites. ”
Scarred One |
Scarred One blinks couple of times and shakes his head
"It was the battle, the one when Belcorra was slayed. Althou I havan't seen that part, it focused more on a rogue escaping through the battle ground. Let me try to explain from the beginning..."
Feel free to open the spoiler, I am afraid of missing something that is important...
Sendoski Osprey |
Sendoski scratches his chin.
"By rogue, do you mean Otari Ilvashti?! That's amazing. Have we already seen this room with the tub? We should take a closer look."
Pirate GM |
The description does indeed match Otari Ilvashti. It confirms that the Roseguard did indeed slay Belcorra but it does contradict reports that Otari perished in the battle although given the powerful spell that dropped him from the air and the lack of public history regarding any levels below surface it's easy to see how he'd be assumed dead.
Sendoski is quite familiar with The Roseguard.
Aesephna Menhemes:
Aesephna was the party’s healer. She was a cleric of Erastil who was always more comfortable in smaller towns than big cities.
Otari Ilvashti:
Otari, the group’s rogue, was an optimist who kept the others hopeful with his charm and humor, even during their darkest hours.
Vol Rajani:
Vol was the party’s fighter, a capable and no-nonsense swordswoman who claimed to be exiled royalty from Nidal.
Zarmavdian:
The group’s wizard was a welleducated diviner who pursued outlandish conspiracy theories and occult lore.

Oorgatch sighs as he follows Yan, silver cane sword now at his side.

This ten-foot-square washroom features an iron bathing tub to the north and a commode to the southwest. As you enter it the northern wall glows and shimmers with ribbons of eerie green light that spell out “I was Otari... save me from below!”
A moment later, the words slide off the wall and form a green ribbon of light that slithers across the floor like a serpent to the west.
It's moving at about 20 feet a round.
Scarred One |
Are those letters in the same style, as those one level below? So is this the place where the writing begins?
Scarred One looks at the room and at the letters "If this truly is Otari, how long is he in captivity?" wonders the old one
Do we have time to check the washroom? Anything in the commode or is it the choice between searching the room and following letters?
Sendoski Osprey |
Sendoski gasps and exchanges a look with his companions.
"Can Otari really be alive?! We've got to follow the letters!"
He heads after the glowing ribbon.
Pirate GM |
Same style as below, this does seem like the beginning
A quick search of the washroom reveals nothing of value although if you wanted to take the plumbing apart that would be a longer process.
Following the letter ribbon you find a new room with a ruined table and several destroyed chairs that lie in a heap in the middle of this room, along with several large bones.
Oorgatch |
"Ok, I guess we follow?" sighs the young one, as he starts following. He takes a moment to look over the ruins before following the letters.
Oorgatch |
Oorgatch hurries after Yan. 'They thought me impetuous back home.'
Sendoski Osprey |
"He was always my favorite," Sendoski says as he hurries after Yan. "Aesephna was too introverted, Vol was too stern, and Zarmavdian was too much of an oddball. I always wanted to be Otari. How about you?"
Pirate GM |
Following the words into the room the bones begin to swirl around and start to form something.
Follow the words? Wait and see what happens with the bones? Something else?
Oorgatch |
”Um, guys?” asks Oorgatch as the bones start to swirl. He wonders if he’ll need to draw a different weapon!
Yan Tovis |
But Vol was so dark and tormented by her past. Stern on the outside, sure, but she was also a royal in exile, pining for everyone she loved while trying to do the right thing. He flashes his scarf, patterned with black clouds and moonlight. She had style too.
Yan notices the bones. Oh. Pause and look.
Scarred One |
"He was always my favorite," Sendoski says as he hurries after Yan. "Aesephna was too introverted, Vol was too stern, and Zarmavdian was too much of an oddball. I always wanted to be Otari. How about you?"
Scarred One listened trying to not show his surprise
"Sometimes I forget that you are humans. This question is so much foreign to me that I have a hard time explaining it." He keeps on walking at times leaning on the wall to let his leg to rest
"As an orc, you are thought to look at successful beings as someone to inspire you, but also like someone to outgrow. When I first learned of Aroden, I wanted to find him and throw him a challenge. Only then the cleric told me that he was long dead ... "
Scarred one stops and looks at the bones moving
"From the four I would challenge Vol ... " he raises his shield
Pause and look, haunt?
Pirate GM |
Not a haunt!
It takes a few moments but bones form into a skeletal giant that attacks! The green ribbon letters dance around as though they once fought an ancient battle here.

With all that help Oorgatch barely manages to connect but has some trouble with those bones.

Bludgeoning: 2d6 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (2, 3) + 4 + 1 = 10
He then casts shield in case the glaive should swing his way.
Pirate GM |
Between Oorgatch and Sendoski they crumble the skeleton back into a pile of bones.
There is just enough time to see the green letter letters slipping through a crack in the wall in the next corridor.
Sendoski Osprey |
"Let's go, quickly!" Sendoski hurries after the letters.
Do they go through a dead end? If so, he'll search for a secret door. +8 perception
Yan Tovis |
Yan rushes off too! Assuming we can't wait but Can we get a level 1 heal channel via scroll before we rush off?
Oorgatch |
I agree with burning the scroll... since I am down a bit
Oorgatch follows Yan.
Pirate GM |
Enough time for a quick heal.
Sendoski easily finds a secret door and opens it revealing stairs down.
Pirate GM |
The green letters make their way down the stairs before fading away as the stairs open up into a familiar corridor.
See slide 3, bottom middle put your tokens above a dotted line for the letters.
Yan Tovis |
We're back to where we were before. I think we know where to go.
Botting Channel heal: 1d10 ⇒ 8

Scarred One (*52/55) *shield block used?
Scarred One |
Scarred One reads the scroll healing everyone around him "It is funny, how body can heal faster than items..."
So shield block, we don't have time to fix it ;) for barely 3 hp reduction
I have shillelagh up, I doubt that we will get into a fight within the next 1 min ;) How about we stay on level 2 and go towards the 'red' arrow (added by me)? Double door means big monster ;)
Scarred One |
I am fine with that. +1
Oorgatch |
"The letters are gone. We can go where we saw them before, or go finish upstairs." says Oorgatch. "And Otari has waited this long."
Would like for us to finish a level, then move back down.
Yan Tovis |
Let's finish upstairs. Yan starts heading back up. Moved Yan on slie 8 towards a possible area next.
