Cator Garess |
No, surprise round. I thought the bandit Cator was attacking was not prone.
Cator Garess |
Cator moves to intercept prone bandit. End of surprise turn.
Katarina Lebeda |
On the surprise round Katarina casts Bless on everyone in the party. She is a touch shaken by what she saw but shakes her head to clear her thoughts. No is not the time to be distracted!
Her action for the next round will be drawing her weapons from where they were hidden from sight.
"Atlas. Get the one in the tree!" She calls, indicating where the bowman is.
+1 to hit & +1 on Will saves vs fear.
Atlas Jaxx |
"Got it. Stay behind me!" He calls back to Katarina, pulling out his bloodied polearm and flicking the bloodied brain matter to the side, off of it.
[ooc] Unfortunately, it isn't my turn yet since my attack was the surprise action for me. Drek? You're up. [/oov]
Drektan |
Sorry. Friday morning I took the wife to Arlington to watch some baseball. Was dead exhausted when we got home yesterday. We saw 2 games live, split with the Mariners. Rangers scored 4 runs in the loss and 9 in the win, which was a contested fight all the way up to and including the final tag out at home plate to prevent the tying run from scoring! Was a really good game to watch.
Perception: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (18) + 1 = 19
Seeing Katarina indicate the archer, who Drek had missed previously, The cat says simply "On him." and heads for the tree, knowing he will have an advantage reaching the archer over Atlas.
DM Dfsearles |
Drektan easily spots the bandit still hiding up in the tree, but hears something else, off to his right, was that a twig snapping? you think to yourself.
Full round is next. Everybody but Cator is up. Cator, I’m using your attack from earlier as an AoO unless you wish to roll again when the time comes.
Cator Garess |
That's fine with me, Dfsearles.
Atlas Jaxx |
How high up in the tree is this archer? Can I reach it with colour spray, a 15ft cone? And should he make the save, can I threaten him with my reach weapon if I move up close to the tree?
Atlas Jaxx |
Ajax walks forward and casts a spell, shooting a mesmerizing cloud of hallucinigenic colours into the tree, straight at the bandit!
Afterwards, he shifts his attention to the prone second bandit. If it somehow survived Cator's strike, it would be in range of his polearm if he attempted to stand up.
Casts colour spray, reach is 15 feet cone. DC 14 willsave for the bandit and potential others in the tree or he/they face colour spray effects, which are quite bad at low HD. If 2 or less, unconscious for 2d4 rounds.
Drektan |
"Something to my right, Atlas. Watch out!" Drek jumps onto the tree and climbs up to the archer, leaving the wizard to deal with the mystery guest.
Again, Climb Speed of 20, so he should easily get up there in a move action, without losing his Dex to AC or anything. Not sure if I need to count getting to the tree as another move action or not.
If he still has an action, the cat will try to stick the archer.
Rapier: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (10) + 2 = 12
Piercing: 1d6 ⇒ 4
Not promising.
DM Dfsearles |
The bandit up in the tree manages to duck and weave from Drektans attack, and just barely missed from the bolt from below. He drops his bow and draws a sword AoO and attempts to slash at Drektan.
1d20 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 2 = 101d6 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5
As the basis on the ground grips his sword, he attempts to stand up, only to be struck down by Cator’s sword in the process.
The noise from deeper in the forest becomes evident as 2 more bandits approach, one chasing at full speed, the other knocking an arrow and launching it at Katarina
Bow: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 51d8 ⇒ 1
Amidst the commotion, 2 more figures emerge from the trees to the south, another bowman and a woman wielding 2 axes in her hands. The bowman launches a sttrike at Atlas within the woman stands her ground. Stop these intruders at all costs or the Stag Lord will rip all your heads off!
Will update map when able.
Cator Garess |
Round 1 or Round 2, I'm confused
Perception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (9) + 6 = 15
Cator sees the dual axe-wielding woman and charges.
Greatsword (charge): 1d20 + 5 + 2 ⇒ (16) + 5 + 2 = 23
Dmg.: 2d6 + 4 ⇒ (3, 3) + 4 = 10
Drektan |
"You, sir, appear to be part of an illegal brigand group, and are supposed to surrender for judgement or have your life forfeit." The cat tries to address the brigand even as he attacks back.
AoO? Drop and draw? Not normally provoking actions. Pick up is normally a provoking action. Here are the numbers you requested, though.
Rapier AoO: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (16) + 2 = 18
Piercing: 1d6 ⇒ 2
"I take it you do not intend to surrender, then? I'm actually sorry to hear that." Because I'm not sure I can beat you in a fair fight.
The cat attempts to dissuade the brigand from continuing to fight.
Rapier: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (18) + 2 = 20
Piercing: 1d6 ⇒ 2
Confirm?: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6
Piercing: 1d6 ⇒ 6
Atlas Jaxx |
So the entire party is up now?
"Cator! Try to take her alive for interrogation! It sounds like she's the leader!" Atlas calls, after which he quickly casts another spell.
Casts Shield. AC is now 21/FF18/T13
Which both his protective spells up, he tries to quickly follow the Barbarian.
Unfortunately, the tree to the south was in ther way, so he starting rounding it from the side, knowing he'd be able to attack the new bandits soon.
DM Dfsearles |
Drektan is face to face with a bandit who now has a drawn sword and two punches in his flesh but it doesn’t seem to slow him down.
attack: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 81d6 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4
Meanwhile, Cator is face to face with the leader who’s taken some decent hours, but is still ready for action as she tries to slice of his head with her axes.
attack1: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (13) + 5 = 181d6 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6
attack2: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (2) + 5 = 71d6 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2
Another bandit rushes up on Atlas, making a dice to get past his polearm, and then slashing at him, while the other fires an arrow at him.
Athletics: 1d20 ⇒ 7
Attack: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 51d6 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 2 = 7
Attack: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (12) + 2 = 141d8 ⇒ 5
Finally the last bowman goes arrow to arrow with Katarina, firing from behind the leader.
attack: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (10) + 2 = 121d6 ⇒ 5
Through all of this combat, the only result to note is Atlas gets an AoO against his bandit, and Cator’s face gets slashed for 6pts of damage.
Cator Garess |
Round 3
Cator feels the rage well up within him, but keeps it at bay. The barbarian attacks the axe-wielding leader without trying to kill.
Greatsword (nonlethal): 1d20 + 5 - 4 ⇒ (1) + 5 - 4 = 2
Dmg.: 2d6 + 4 ⇒ (6, 6) + 4 = 16
Drektan |
"You really should take the opportunity to surrender. There are better ways to survive than banditry!"
Rapier: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (18) + 2 = 20
Piercing: 1d6 ⇒ 4
Confirm?: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (11) + 2 = 13 Unlikely, but possible.
Piercing: 1d6 ⇒ 6 For 10 total if Drek got lucky.
Atlas Jaxx |
Atlas shifts back slightly and attacks the bandit that approached him once more!
attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 = 10
damage: 1d12 + 6 ⇒ (1) + 6 = 7
His swing hits the dirt right next to the bandit with intense force, forming a nice hammerhead-shaped identation in the mud.
"That was the last warning shot," he threatens and bluffs the bandit. "I won't pull the next hit, and that will be your skull. Surrender or try me."
Katarina Lebeda |
Sorry. I didn't realize it was my action. One thing I've found when running PBP is always prompt players. Missing your turn is common.
Katarina advances to stand with Cator and swings at the leader.
Scimitar: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (10) + 3 = 13
damage if it hit?: 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4
