Torin Ironbeard |

Not particularly surprised to see trouble brewing, Torin moves to intercept.
"That's far enough friend. Best go sleep it off before you do something you'll regret."
Ready a bullrush if the man steps closer the Bander.
Bullrush: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (10) + 8 = 18 3 bludgeoning dmg
If that hits then he'll try to smack the guy with his armor spikes and overrun him.
Spikes: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (15) + 5 = 20 Damage: 1d4 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6
Overrun: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (2) + 8 = 10 3 bludgeoning dmg
If your attack is successful, your target is pushed back 5 feet. For every 5 by which your attack exceeds your opponent’s CMD you can push the target back an additional 5 feet. You can move with the target if you wish but you must have the available movement to do so. If your attack fails, your movement ends in front of the target.
When you attempt to overrun a target, it can choose to avoid you, allowing you to pass through its square without requiring an attack. If your target does not avoid you, make a combat maneuver check as normal. If your maneuver is successful, you move through the target’s space. If your attack exceeds your opponent’s CMD by 5 or more, you move through the target’s space and the target is knocked prone. If the target has more than two legs, add +2 to the DC of the combat maneuver attack roll for each additional leg it has.

Bander Drunkensquirrel |

"Ah-oh. Have you met this type before. A whole bar full of folks this one picks the little guys." He shifts his weight to the balls of his feet. He gets ready to act when Torin comes over.

Fuma Nobane |

One guy against all of you. Good luck to him. Meanwhile I'm having a meal from GrabMino.

Zak, the Mariner |

Ding dong! Grabmino!
Zak joins Fuma, bringing along the food.
Unless he hears commotions from inside :P
Stew and vegetable medley, bread, and ale" - the minotaur informed, putting down the tray - "They have a very decent menu for a roadside inn. Even fish" - he adds - "Hope this is to your taste Fuma"

RIZZENMAGNUS |

the man ignores Torins warning, instead drawing back his blade and steps forward to lunge at Bander. Torin sprints forward, throwing his whole body into the charge...
ok, im gonna pause combat cause i have a question for torrin. im a bit rusty with the Combat maneuver rules. doesnt the bullrush and ovverrun provoke an Attack of opportunities? Do you have anything that prevents the AoO from happening?

Torin Ironbeard |

Normally they do, but the siegebreaker archetype gets:
At 1st level, a siegebreaker can attempt bull rush or overrun combat maneuvers without provoking attacks of opportunity. When he performs either combat maneuver, he deals an amount of bludgeoning damage equal to his Strength bonus (minimum 1). If he has Improved Bull Rush or Improved Overrun, the damage dealt by the appropriate maneuver increases by 2 and he adds any enhancement bonus from his armor or shield (though such enhancement bonuses do not stack, if both armor and shield are magic).
This ability replaces the feat gained at 1st level.
which prevents Torin from taking AoOs from those maneuvers.

Bander Drunkensquirrel |

I think this works if he is standing or prone.
Bander dives to the side into a roll and then slides behind the man who Torin has slammed into. The Kender pulls out a dagger and grabs the back of the mans belt and with the pommel of his dagger he swings his hand between the man's legs and up with as much force as he can.
Dagger with Flank: 1d20 + 6 + 2 ⇒ (17) + 6 + 2 = 25
Damage Non-Leathal its the blunt end in his stones: 1d3 + 5 ⇒ (1) + 5 = 6
Sneak Attack he's flanked so: 1d6 ⇒ 3
"That's the dull side of my dagger. Perhaps you should call it a night. I mean even if your boys were to come to your aid. You'd never know because you would be roaming the floor looking for your beans and terribly small frank. Although they don't look eager to die for your ego."
Almost forgot Acrobatics for AOO: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (1) + 8 = 9 He might be able to hit me as I move into position.

RIZZENMAGNUS |

ooof...thats a nice perk, torin. wow!
@bander: yeah...you failed the acrobatics roll, so youre move through does incurr an AoO. If you had gotten within 5, idve let it slide, but, even with a roll that bad, i cannot non do anything.
AoO on bander: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6 well, i guess not.
The beligerent man approaches Bander, murder and anger filling his eyes. Torin's warning falls upon deaf ears as the man continues to step forwad, getting near the small kender. Torin explodes into action, throwing himself bodily at the guy, driving him back into the bar! A cough explodes out of the man as the wind is driven from him. He staggers forward a step. Bander, seeing an opening, leaps through the mans legs. the man takes an awkward swipe at the topknotted miniature man, but fails to connect, still disorientated from the crushing attack of Torin. Bander, slightly off balance from his bad tumble, gets up and hammers his point home between the man's legs.
A very high pitched cry errupts from the mans lips, his hands spasming wide, dropping his blade to the floor, and he sinks to his knees, his hands cupping his groin. With a resounding wince and oooooo the men at the table with the mage groan in phantom agony from the kenders savage blow.

Fuma Nobane |

Enjoying the hot meal brought to her by Zak, Fuma looks up as her ears catches the sound of a scream.
"Did you hear that Zak? This meal is excellent even better now that that man has left." she takes another bite from the food.

Torin Ironbeard |

Ya it's a pretty neat kit. Won't be putting up big numbers, but bouncing around the battlefield, shoving enemies and knocking them over should be fun.
Torin leans over the man. "Go sleep it off and be thankful that you're living to regret your decision tonight."
If all the fight is out of him, Torin goes back to his seat at the table.

RIZZENMAGNUS |
1 person marked this as a favorite. |

oh yeah, the fights out of him. The imagery lined up will with bander attacking the mans groin with the pommel of his dagger, that i allowed the called shot. normally, youd have to do a called shot, or on a crit pull that stunt, but it made such a good seen, i went with it.
CHahlen groans and rolls on the floor, his eyes shut at the sheer agony that envelops his mind. Grenk rolls his eyes and looks at another soldier-for-hire. Get him out of here. throw him in the manure pit and make sure he sleeps out there.
two of the men sitting at the table nod and mutter agreements, standing up. they walk over and lift Chahlen up not too gently, and drag him through the front doors.
The rest of the room returns to normal, and starts up talking amongst themselves, keeping to themselves.
aside from one thing, i really dont have much of anything else to portray with this encounter. So, i'll open it up to whatever you guys want to chat about in character, or we can progress the story along

RIZZENMAGNUS |

well...ok then.
The night wears on, and slowly the groups of travelers disperse, retreating to their rooms and to their beds.
Everyone is given a key to their room, and the bar maid reminds everyone that breakfast is served at dawn. She then bids everyone a good night and heads back into the kitchen to help clean up.

Bander Drunkensquirrel |

Bander spends the rest of the night telling stories and laughing with those who will enjoy themselves.
He retired to a room when the time came. He brings two empty bottles with him. One he balances on the door knob on the inside of the room. The second he arranges on the window sill to fall if the window is opened.

Fuma Nobane |

Fuma laughs. A sweet sound fliting through the stables into the night.
"So that's what happened. Turns out the others took care of him." Turning to Zak as she begins clearing their dinner.
"It seems that we will be taking turns to keep watch. I shall take first and wake you for the second. Any objections?" she asks.

Zak, the Mariner |

"No objections Fuma" - Zak replies, nodding at the men as they return to the inn.
Then he grabs what remains of their ale and his mug, fills it as much as possible, and goes look for this Chahlen fellow - "I will be right back"
When he encounters him:
Showing no pity, but also no arrogance, Zak extends the almost full mug to the man - "Life is made of victory and defeat - there is no shame in it. So shrug it away, and wash it down with an ale?" - he speaks calmly to him.

Duatha Sunshear |

The Elven mage raises an eyebrow at the action and is certainly impressed with Torin, It appears my silver is indeed, well spent.
As the Black Robe makes no move to approach so he too does not approach. He flips through Sheska's spellbook until he finds a spell he wishes to learn on the road the next day.
The Elven Wizard then retires to his room to crack open the book to be delivered to the Great Library, how could he resist not looking at it?

RIZZENMAGNUS |

You open the book to a random page, and see that there isnt anything written on the page. on either page.
You flip through the pages, first towards the front, and indeed, see writing, but the writing stops after 12 pages. the rest of the book is blank.
you start at the front, and see the first entry
First day, first month, 356AC. Corrin whisperwind defeats the dragon Icewign
the following entries pertain to various recent events, all dated within the last couple months, some you even heard of as you traveled from Qualinesti.
Shrugging, you skip ahead to the end to read what the final entry is.
Fourth day, Fifthmonth, 358 AC. Raistlin destroys Paladine. The world ends. The history of Krynn is complete.

RIZZENMAGNUS |

since zak reminded me of it..
CHahlen grunts at Zak, but then winces in pain. his hand drops to his groin and he gingerly rubs at it, pain evident upon his face. Oh shut up! Wasnt defeated, just caught off guard. Blindsided by that dwarven pal of yours, and then your pathetic kender sucker punched me in my nuts. The dwarf, ow, i can respect the tatic. The kender, however, if i see him again, he really will die.
Chahlen winces again and leans back, looking fully up at Zak. punched in the balls, a dick move.
to progress the story.

Duatha Sunshear |

Duatha gathers his things and heads down to the common room once more to gather his allies, "My friends, we should join Fuma in the stables, there is a matter of grave importance to discuss".

Fuma Nobane |

Fuma prepares to rest for the night even as she watches Zak and the man speak.
Keeping watch wouldn't be that hard as long as one took precautions.

RIZZENMAGNUS |

we can keep chatting here until everyone filters out from the Inn and congregate around the wagon.
around here? pffft. Nah, we are mercenaries. he pauses and looks around, then shrugs. i suppose its not a state secret. We're heading to Northern Ergoth. Protection job from what i hear. Some lordling, acting crazy and stuff. Claims that the War was just a precursor to an impending disaster. Made him a bit unpopular up there, so he's offering monies to mercs to provide protection. We got wind, sent one of our men to the place, to verify the info. Turns out to be true, so we are headed there. Chahlen takes a drink. What about you?
inside
Aeleni nudges torin on the shoulder, and catches banders attention. Outside, to the wagon. Let's go. suiting words to action, she follows duatha outside and heads to the wagon, meeting up with Fuma.
Zak! Come here. she says loudly to Zak.

Bander Drunkensquirrel |

So we made it through the night.
Bander wakes in the morning readies himself for the day and heads to the common room for a good breakfast. He nods toward Aeleni as Torin is nudged and he grabs a biscuit on the way out.

Fuma Nobane |

Hearing the others shouting outside, Fuma is jolted awake.
Her instincts tell her that it's likely time to go and she makes haste to ready the wagon, hitching the horses to it, tidying up the place and preparing both herself and the wagon for travel.
She does apologise to the horses for interrupting its rest. Rubbing their heads and soothing them.

Zak, the Mariner |

Chahlen takes a drink. What about you?
"Nothing really exciting to be honest" - the minotaur shrugged - "Just an odd job like so many others, escorting a caravan for a merchant" - he adds - "Northern Ergoth you say? Might be worth it to pay such place a visit - I am not very familiar with the lay of the land here, so..."
Outside, to the wagon. Let's go. suiting words to action, she follows duatha outside and heads to the wagon, meeting up with Fuma.
Zak! Come here. she says loudly to Zak.
His discourse interrupted, Zak raised an eyebrow at Aeleni's call - "Hm, I will be right back" - he nodded at the man, leaving him with the rest of the ale, and went to meet up with the others.
aeleni brow buries deep as she looks at Bander. Something has given Duatha cause for concern. He is not one to lightly gather together those he travels with for trivial things.
"What exactly?" - Zak came lumbering close.

Duatha Sunshear |

Everyone Assembled by the Wagon
Duatha gets close to the wagon and gestures for the others to come closer as well. He holds out the book, "This book, is one of the Chronicles of Astinus, the Librarian of Palanthus.
Who or what the Librarian is, is a mystery. He has chronicled the history of the world for as long as even the Elves remember and Elven memories are long.
Unlike most of his books, this book details events which have yet to take place.
I suspect that the Wizard planted this book among us, the why I do not know. It must be some sort of forgery, though if it is a forgery, it is a good one.
It is the entry on the final page that has me, for lack of a better word, startled. Ware the current date - 22nd day, fourth month, 356AC".
Duatha reads the final sentence aloud, "Fourth day, Fifthmonth, 358 AC. Raistlin Majere, Master of the Past and the Present, destroys Paladine. The world ends. The history of Krynn is complete".
His face is grim as he looks at his assembled companions, "Thoughts? Whether a forgery or not, it is vital that this book reach the Great Library so we can discuss its contents with the Great Librarian himself".

Bander Drunkensquirrel |

Bander stares at the ground and talks absently trying to put it all together. "So you think the wacked out old man, is a wizard, and that he accused us of stealing from him 8 times and then on the 9th time he planted an incredibly well forged history book. And THEN we actually held something of value let us walk out with it?"
Bander would probably say more. What do we know of the War of the Lance? I know Tass was famous among Kender. Is Raistlin a household word? Do we assume he is in his tower?

RIZZENMAGNUS |

Raistlin is a household name. His participation in the war of the lance is well known, only more so his lofting the curse and taking charge of the Tower in Palanthus. So yes, bander and Zak would know about Raistlin and his occupancy of the Tower. Same goes for Astinus. There is only one Astinus, and everyone has heard of him and his Chronicles.

Fuma Nobane |

Fuma being Fuma will react.
"You peeked into the book? Were we not supposed to do that?"

Duatha Sunshear |

The Great Library is located in Palanthus, our ultimate destination.
This date troubles me, I feel we should move faster along the road. If it is a forgery, I assume that Astinus will know and I can be troubled no longer about what was written".
Duatha sighs at Fuma's statement, "Astinus, among the elves, is rumored to be connected somehow to the God Gilean.
As I have a... special affinity for Gilean, I wanted to read the book. After all, it is a book about the History of the World, or at least, it was supposed to be".
