Aeshuura |
Your folk took the lad in, caring for him for about a week until he passed. But that wasn't the end of it. The following morning, when the elders approved the crypt for the outsider, they body was gone!
It took your father and your two uncles an hour to find the body, seemingly alive in the halls of the Jarl. He was attacking the Jarl's personal guard, eyes white like sheets and mushrooms protruding from his neck!
Baldrick Longhall |
Mushrooms on dwarves I thought was just part of being a dwarf he retorts
"That only happened once! And ... it was some kind of sickness or something. Maybe just don't get coughed on?"
Nezter "Spleenripper" |
Netz gets angry dwarf altering mushrooms huh? DIIIEEEEEEE!!!!!
Netz swings the great axe like the madman he is raging as well. Netz attacks the one in front of Umikh and the ancestors suddenly pop out of the walls in Netzs gleaming eyes to defend him.
to hit a: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (2) + 8 = 10
to hit b: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (5) + 8 = 13
to damage a: 1d12 + 10 ⇒ (3) + 10 = 13
to damage b: 1d12 + 10 ⇒ (4) + 10 = 14
Khitt |
Khitt let’s two arrows fly and then glances back to make sure ther would not be an attack from our flank as well. This has all the makings of a trap.
Bow Attack: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (20) + 9 = 29
Bow Attack: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (16) + 9 = 25
was Khat able to sneak in with us or did she have to wait outside? It matters from a bonus action perspective.
Rodalas Windrace |
I am not sure which ones might be down but he will fire an arrow at one that would be sneak attacked and looks the most hurt
The eladrin knocks his bow, finds a target and shoots
1d20 + 9 ⇒ (13) + 9 = 22
1d6 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7 pokey damage
2d6 ⇒ (3, 2) = 5 sneaky sneaky
Aeshuura |
Umikh swings hard, leaving large gashes on each of his opponents!
@Khitt, yes, she could have easily squeezed in after you had bent the bars. Which targets are you going for? Damaged? Undamaged?
Initiative Order Round 1
Rodney -> Tribal Warriors -> Umikh -> Khitt -> Netzer -> Baldrick -> Rodalas
Blue -6 hp
Green untouched
Red untouched -7 hp
Orange untouched -6 hp
Pink untouched
Khitt |
Khitt's first target will be Red. If they go down between attacks, Blue will be the target, followed by Orange I guess.
Critial Arrow: 2d6 + 6 ⇒ (5, 1) + 6 = 12
Piercing: 1d6 + 6 ⇒ (2) + 6 = 8
Khitt motions for Khatt to attack after releasing his shafts. The sight of the tribesman gave him pause initially, but the mushroom growths apearing on them made putting these proud tribespeople down an easy descision for him.
The goblin then slides along the wall further into the room while suggesting to Rodney and Rodalas to do the same.
Khatt attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (14) + 5 = 19
Khatt's Slashing Maul: 1d8 + 5 ⇒ (4) + 5 = 9
Aeshuura |
No, but you are last in initiative, so I am trying to adjudicate per initiative order.
Aeshuura |
Khitt's arrows bury themselves into two of the mushroom thralls, dropping them... dead. A puff of spores erupt at Umikh and Baldrick's feet. Umikh and Baldrick, make a Con save DC 10.
At her master's urging, Khatt mauls the third wounded enemy taking it down as well! Khatt may make a Con save DC 10, as well.
Netzer swings a pair of wild swings, missing with the first but cleaving the mushroom infected man clear through its rib cage! Pink is dead! Netzer, please make a Con save DC 10.
Baldrick swings hard with his warhammer, hearing the satisfying crack of bone under the impact! Green takes 11 hp damage.
Rodalas, ever the closer, nocks his arrow and looses! The arrow embeds itself in the head of the last thrall, dropping it! Okay, so that makes 2 Con saves for Baldrick in total.
Combat over.
Baldrick Longhall |
CON save: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (5) + 5 = 10
CON save: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (7) + 5 = 12
"Ju--*caff* Just remember what I said *cough* about breathing in the spores *hack*"
Waving his hand in front of his face, tears streaming into his beard, Baldrick swallows drily: "Looks like we have a few more doors to chose from... For the love of Dumathoin, does nobody have a drink?!"
Umikh Ironbender |
CON save vs mushroom life: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (8) + 6 = 14
Umikh fans the spores away and covers his face awkwardly with his shirt. He fiddles with something hanging off his pack and tosses Baldrick a flask. Course we got drink. He grins, then looks pensive. Can't recall what's in it though.
Aeshuura |
Aside from some coughing, no one seems to have too much of a side effect... Waiting on Nezter. In the meantime, what is your plan? These fellows do not seem to have anything of interest on their persons...
Baldrick Longhall |
Wiping his eyes, Baldrick takes a grateful swig from Umikh's flask: "Tha-- *cough-cough* *choke* Thank *cough*
Well... it's water, but thanks ;)"
Baldrick will propose having a quick look in the cells to the south which, since they have been revealed, I imagine are empty and/or open:
Investigation: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (7) + 0 = 7
Then he'll move on to the door in the southwest simply because that's where he'll be standing once once he's looked at the other rooms
Khitt |
Khitt moves up to investigate the floor where the trap was sprung trying to discern if it was still a danger.
Investigate Disadv: 2d20 + 1 ⇒ (12, 13) + 1 = 26
Regardless of the result, it doesn’t take long before he stands ”Well, this trap was meant to guard something. Might as well carry on and find out what it was.” The goblin says indicating the passage of of this detention area for lack of a better term.
Aeshuura |
Khitt examines the trap, a simple mechanism that caused the doors to spring open. That tells him one thing, that this condition that enthralled these poor humans was done intentionally to them, perhaps to be guard dogs.
Aeshuura |
The stairs to the West descend into darkness, your light spills into the lower barely illuminating the floor below...
As you descend the stairs, you can see that small rooms flank a central common area where crates and sacks are stashed against the west wall. Two doors are ajar on the North wall and the other two, closed.
Currently, someone is at the top of the stairs descending. Who would like to be first?
Umikh Ironbender |
If Mr. Sneaky doesn't go first, I'm cool being first, sword out of course.
Umikh takes the flask back and tastes it. Yeah this is pretty weak. Remind me ta fill it back up with somethin' proper!
Baldrick Longhall |
Ditto! If Rodalas and/or (no longer invisible) Khitt want to scout ahead, that's cool. Baldrick will stick close behind Umikh either way.
Nezter "Spleenripper" |
do I need to make a con save or no?
Netz stands and wakes from his rage and moves away from the pile of bodies not quite remembering the fugue of battle but coming back to himself quicker due to his improved mind and he moves forward quickly to peer down the stairs behind the lead souls.
Khitt |
Khitt is not super anxious taking the lead right now. Still feeling the effects of the hard travel to get here, he’s more than willing to let Rodalas scout while he maintains his focus on the stealth magic that he has employed currently. (Pass without trace),
Aeshuura |
do I need to make a con save or no?
Netz stands and wakes from his rage and moves away from the pile of bodies not quite remembering the fugue of battle but coming back to himself quicker due to his improved mind and he moves forward quickly to peer down the stairs behind the lead souls.
Please, though it doesn't affect anything right away.
@Khitt, Noted. I will bot Rodalas if he doesn't post by the end of today.
Aeshuura |
Rodney heads down the stair. As he nears the bottom-most step, the minstrel hears a barely inaudible clink of someone shifting in armor... Ambush?
1d20 ⇒ 13
Rodney, you can take a surprise round action on the enemy. You believe that the ambusher is hiding around the corner from the base of the stair.
Khitt: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (20) + 4 = 24
Netzer: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (13) + 2 = 15
Rodalas: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (13) + 3 = 16
Rodney: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (13) + 3 = 16
Umikh: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2
Duergar: 1d20 ⇒ 17
Initiative Order Surprise!
Khitt -> Duergar -> Rodalas / Rodney -> Netzer -> Baldrick -> Umikh
Rodalas Windrace |
I hope that these spores do not take over your bodies, but in some cases it might be an improvement. he chuckles.
Aeshuura |
Sorry, only Strength for Rage. Does anyone have inspiration that they would like to give Netzer?
Umikh Ironbender |
If I have it to give (don't think I've used one recently?) then yes, take it. In the form of try drinking the stuff in Umikh's flask maybe for flavor.
Aeshuura |
I cannot find giving anyone Inspiration lately. Let us say no for now. This could just end up being character growth... heh. Growth. ^_^
Netzer seems to have developed quite a cough, making Stealth difficult for him. Disadvantage on Stealth checks.
Going to give Rodney a little more time...
Aeshuura |
1 person marked this as a favorite. |
Gonna move this one along...
Rodney signals back at the rest of you, letting you know that he suspects an ambush and steps out into the open!
Attack 1: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (15) + 4 = 19
disadv (dodge): 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (17) + 4 = 21
Attack 2: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (11) + 4 = 15
disadv (dodge): 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (15) + 4 = 19
Dang, I hoped that the dodge would have at least negated one of the attacks...
Out of the darkness, a pair of duergar warriors swing their hammers hitting Rodney twice as the bard tries to evade the incoming attacks! His fervor allows him to avoid the heaviest of the hits, but the attacks send the bard spinning! Rodney's 8 temps are gone, and he takes 4 hp!
Initiative Order Round 1
Khitt -> Duergar -> Rodalas / Rodney -> Netzer -> Baldrick -> Umikh
Okay, Khitt can act, then the duergar will act.
Khitt |
looks like Khitt can line up a shot
Khitt sends Khat to assist Rodney and let’s loose his arrows to cover her while she closes ground.
Bow Att: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (7) + 7 = 14
Piercing: 1d6 + 7 ⇒ (3) + 7 = 10
Bow Att: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (9) + 7 = 16
Piercing: 1d6 + 7 ⇒ (6) + 7 = 13
Khat Pounce: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (9) + 5 = 14
Slashing: 1d8 + 1d6 + 5 ⇒ (8) + (2) + 5 = 15
DC 13 Strength Save or be Knocked Prone
Aeshuura |
Khitt, is your damage bonus +7 or +5? I am seeing a +5 on your DDB sheet. Just checking to see if you are getting a +2 from another source?
Khitt draws a bead on the closest Duergar, loosing a pair of arrows, scoring one hit out of the two! -11 (-13) depending on Khitt's damage bonus.
Khatt, at her master's signal, bursts across the room, snaking through and around her allies' legs pouncing the grey dwarf, but the stalwart warrior growls and bats the snow leopard aside!
The pair of grey dwarves growl in dwarvish and grow to twice their normal size!
[b]Initiative Order Round 1
Khitt -> Duergar -> Rodalas / Rodney -> Netzer -> Baldrick -> Umikh
Red -11 hp
Blue untouched
Khitt |
Khitt, is your damage bonus +7 or +5? I am seeing a +5 on your DDB sheet. Just checking to see if you are getting a +2 from another source?
I was looking at that as well and realized the DDB doesn’t calc in the Bracers of Archery I guessed. Dex+Magic Weapon+Bracers comes to 7.
Update
I had not checked the attunement button.
Aeshuura |
Ah, yes! Forgot about that! Everyone can post their next actions and I will adjudicate!
Update: Red -13 hp
Aeshuura |
No, because you folks were checking the cells, it took longer than a round, so your rage has faded...
Baldrick Longhall |
"Wow! Det är verkligen oförskämt - vi ville bara prata. Vi hjälpte till och med att bli av med de infekterade människorna åt dig!"
"Why"
"won't"
Warhammer, Red: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (13) + 6 = 19
"you"
damage: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (7) + 3 = 10
"listen?!"
Khitt |
two more arrows and a bundle claws
Khitt sends two more arrows at the grey dwarves, still concerned that they could be flanked.
Arrow: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (15) + 7 = 22
Piercing: 1d6 + 7 ⇒ (1) + 7 = 8
Arrow: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (11) + 7 = 18
Piercing: 1d6 + 7 ⇒ (5) + 7 = 12
Khat Attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (2) + 5 = 7
Umikh Ironbender |
Stepping around to get to red...
No surprises!
Sword swing: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (13) + 7 = 20
sword damage: 1d10 + 4 ⇒ (10) + 4 = 14
Sword swing: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (19) + 7 = 26
sword damage: 1d10 + 4 ⇒ (7) + 4 = 11
Aeshuura |
Mikh-ey, don't forget that you are a Champion so that second hit is a critical. ;)
Aeshuura |
Will give Rodney & Rodalas a little more time...
Initiative Order Round 1
Khitt -> Duergar -> Rodalas / Rodney -> Netzer -> Baldrick -> Umikh
Aeshuura |
Gonna move this along.
Rodalas feathers the wounded grey dwarf! +1 shortbow: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (6) + 9 = 15 But it is the rare occasion that the eladrin misses as the arrow thuds into the shield of the stalwart enemy...
Rodney taunts the duergar warrior in elvish! Wis Save: 1d20 ⇒ 16 The subtlety of the joke is lost on the warrior from the Underdark, as it shrugs off the enchantment-laced barb!
Netzer charges in and swings a little too hard, knocking the stalwart defender back a step, causing his second swing to miss! Netz, I notice you have +10 to damage. How are you coming to that bonus? By my calculations, +3 for Str, +1 from the magic weapon, and +2 more if raging. At most it should be +6. Am I missing something? I am going to go with 6 damage unless you wish to expend a rage to bring it to 8.
Baldrick slips forward and swings his warhammer in hard, rewarded with snap as he breaks the warriors rib! The duergar sputters and blood spatters from his mouth as he collapses in a heap!
Stepping past the fallen enemy, Umikh swings hard twice at the giant dwarf! Crit damage: 1d10 ⇒ 9 The first slash takes out the quadracep in its left leg, dropping it to a knee! As the warrior's neck comes to eye level, Umikh cleaves the duergar's head off its shoulders!
Combat Over!
Assuming you are investigating the rooms.
Small rooms flank a central common area where crates and sacks are stashed against the west wall. The doors of the two southern rooms are open, and each room is empty except for a tattered bedroll and a chair.
Umikh Ironbender |
Definitely taking the stuff back to its rightful owners. And yeah, probably back and to the NW corner?
Baldrick Longhall |
Wow - that was quick!
I'm with Umikh -- we might as well clear the place while we are here. Maybe kill that zombie on the way out, so we can return the goats to their owners?
