Axton Vendian |

Someone should climb that ladder and check out the crawlspace.
Seeing Grommush slip and fall into the muck, Axton turns and looks for a long stick or a plank of wood that he can use to help himself balance as he crosses the plank.
Perception: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (10) + 1 = 11

![]() |

Elena, fairly light and decently graceful, uses her spear as a balancing weight and attempts to cross!
Actually, what do we need to roll for the plank?

Axton Vendian |

If I can't find a stick, Axton was going to ask to borrow one of Umazura's javelins.
Elena, it's a DC 10 Reflex save. I guess here's my roll, but I was hoping for a bonus because Axton is trying to use something to help his balance.
Reflex: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (10) + 1 = 11
Ha!

Umazura Fallensong |

Sure! She'd let you use one for sure.
Noticing the ladder within, Umazura decides to take the high road. Stowing her shield and sword, she proceeds up the stairs, albeit, very carefully while keeping her eyes peeled for any possibility of an ambush.
Perception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (15) + 6 = 21

GM_DBH |

Sorry, it's a DC10 acrobatics check to cross the plank. It's only 8 inches wide and not very well secured. Nor is it particularly strong. :)
Axton joins Gul on the plank. Which creaks alarmingly. Any more joining them will most likely cause it to break.
Umazura climbs the rickety ladder carefully, it's not well lit up in the attic, but she can see perfectly thanks to her Dark vision.
A7. Attic Entry
A hole in the ceiling of the room below provides access to this attic crawlspace. Rafter beams extend across the area to the opposite side.
The crawlspace is 5 feet high, requiring most Medium creatures to crouch slightly but not otherwise impeding their movement. The rafters are 8 inches wide, and require a successful DC 10 Acrobatics check to cross—they are solidly built and can easily support the weight of Medium creatures. The ceiling is composed of thin slats.
As Umazura can see the length of the attic she can see ahead.
A8. Precarious Crossing
The ceiling of the room below has collapsed, revealing a drop into the filth below. Charred rafters extend to the western wall, providing a means of crossing the space to the north or south.
A9. Rafter Guardians
The ceiling has collapsed, exposing the room below. A ladder nailed to the wall in the southwest corner provides access to the rafters here. Major sections of the firewalls to the south and west have been
destroyed providing access to other areas.
Umazura can see two small creatures crawling lazily about in A9
This insectoid creature has two pairs of bat wings, a tangle of thin legs, and a needle-sharp proboscis.
What are you doing now? Gul & Axton are on the plank. Umazura is looking into the attic. Elena is looking at the plank. Grom is dodging turds.

![]() |

@Axton I figured the reflex was only because Grom was not prepared, so figured I'd ask.
Elena, halting and stepping back when the plank creaks dangerously, waits for the others to cross and for Grom to climb back up on either end before stepping back up and hopefully crossing!
acrobatics: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (7) + 5 = 12
"Makes me wish I hadn't used that scroll now..." she laments, upon reaching the other end. "Anything noteworthy to be seen down there?" she then asks Axton and Gul.

Umazura Fallensong |

Knowledge (arcana): 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (7) + 8 = 15
Rolling her eyes at her current situation, Umazura climbs back down. "The rafters would more than likely be a better option if it weren't for the two stirges that are living up there. While they are nothing more than oversized mosquitoes, if they strike you they will drain you of your life. At least, that is what it will feel like. On top of that, they could very well be carrying any form of disease. So, I would gather we must cross this fantastic piece of wood that, by the looks of it, could collapse at any moment. Fantastic," she says with absolutely no level of enthusiasm whatsoever. Shaking her head at the situation, "Honestly though, who does this? Places a worthless plank down as a bridge? Even for a hideout this is truly pathetic."

Grommush |

Standing back up and wiping some of the mud from his face, Grom doesn't look very happy.
"I hate mud."
When Uma comments on the plank, Grom contributes. "Probably someone skinny who has no problem crossing it and wants the people chasing her do actually have problems crossing it."
While he keeps wiping mud, he waits for someone to open the door and calculates the risk of crossing the plank versus just walking through the mud.
I feel like Peppa Pig.

Gul gra-Dushnikh |

Gul crossed the plant, and when at the other side stopped to inspect the door for traps and to listen. Then, the door opened...
Perception: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (4) + 7 = 11

![]() |

A little squeezed in with the other members on the far side of the plan, Elena readies herself for whatever was in the next room...

GM_DBH |

Currently Gul is on the plank. Gromm is in the s%*!, and Umazura is on the ladder. Axton & Elena are at teh doorway, but not on the plank.
Gul slowly reaches the door and listens, not hearing anything she opens the warped and rotting door.
A4. Fortified Position
The floor of this room has fallen away, leaving a narrow, charred ledge along the south and east walls. To the northwest, a ledge heaped with crates and barrels sits, while above the rafters of the attic lay bare to view.
Two Sewer Goblins are fortified behind the crates and barrels, looking up and giggling when the door opens to give them a target.

Red & Yellow raise heavy crossbows and shoot at Gul. Barely hitting the walls.
Orange & Green squirt disgustingly out of the sewer pipes in your room with demented giggles, they hold poles of wood and look to be threatening the plank!
The party may now act. Red & Yellow have total cover from you at the moment.

Grommush |

How deep is the s~%!? I'm assuming, since you're not making me roll to suffocate, that I can stand there and walk, right?

Gul gra-Dushnikh |

Unwilling to step into the sh&t to reach the newly arrived goblins, Gul stepped through the door, and hugging the left wall, went straight for the crossbow armed ones. She trusted that Grom, already waist deep, would be able to trudge forward and handle those two.
Double move to reach red, can't move on map

Grommush |

Even going slower, Grom still thinks it's better to climb up to the board closer to the door, saving the balance trick. He'll climb when the rest have passed, though, to avoid a fatal accident if the board twists and he falls again.
Climb when it's due: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (5) + 4 = 9

Assuming the previously rolled acrobatics check of 12 gets me across the plank?
Just as the fighting breaks out, Elana waits for Axton to cast his blast of disorienting magic and averts her gaze from the spectacle. Then, she sees Gul storm off through the open door.
Not wanting her to go alone, she quickly uses her spear to balance across the plank and barely makes it into the room, where she spots her half-orc ally approaching the leftmost goblin by hugging the wall.
So instead, she starts casting a spell at the eastern one! =Yellow, Elena can reach the door opening and from there barely yellow if moving across the plank at half speed.
Command, DC 14 will.
"Approach!" She calls at it, her voice infused with divine might.
She only hoped her hunch was correct and that this goblin actually spoke common, given it was apparently working with the previously dealt with lookout guards...

GM_DBH |

Ok, I have fixed the map. You should all be able to move your icons now. Google docs changed it's setup and was giving me no clues on how to make the map editable by anyone with the link.
Gul: The ledge is safe to walk on, but is sloped dangerously at
places, and requires a successful DC 10 Acrobatics check to navigate.
If you make it you end up beside Yellow
Elena uses her magic on Yellow, who blinks with no understanding of what she's commanded him to do?
Sewer Goblins only speak Goblin. Shame really.

Yellow & Red with the standard Goblin bravery shriek in terror and scuttle through the small hole cut in the wall behind them.
AOO for Gul if she made it there?
The party may now act.

Umazura Fallensong |

Okay, people, I believe the proper phrase you all are looking for is 'poopy bag' or 'poop' or just simply 'poo'. You are welcome. :D

GM_DBH |

@Gul. You have to stop and grab the wall to stop yourself from falling. No move this round.
Will save vs Daze: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (3) - 1 = 2
Green looks even more vacant than a Goblin normally does. Which matters little as Umazura looks almost competent as she pins him to the spot with her javelin.
Green is dead.
Gromm & Elena to act.

![]() |

"Damn... how do these goblins communicate with humans if they can't speak Common? I guess the ruffians must have been fluent in goblin. Mental note that looks can be deceiving," Elena muses, upon seeing her command spell had no effect.
"Gul! Don't go ahead too far by yourself!" she cries, quickly moving up behind the half-orc in case she needed someone to pull her out of the sludge pit. When that proves unnessecary, and without any immediate targets or injured party members nearby, she settles for a quick prayer to her goddess.
Moves behind Gul, casts divine favor.

![]() |

Sure, happy to roll. What's the check for, though? Originally got a 12 to cross the bridge so I should already be on the other side?
Acrobatics: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (12) + 5 = 17
Elena is able to keep her footing and follows Gul reasonably quickly, not slipping in any of the muck, poo-variants and assorted nastiness on display below her. She silently thanks Shelyn for it, and quite profusely at that!

GM_DBH |

Since Gul didn't make it to where the Goblins are forted up they haven't run. Gul can't attack this round as she tried to move on the ledge and failed her acrobatics check.
Gromm sloshes over to Orange cuts him down. Yellow & Red reload their heavy crossbows.
Blue squirts out of the sewer pipe into the room and looks around, realizing the other two Goblins are dead.
The party may act now
Yellow and Red have total cover from you. To reach them on the ledge requires an Acrobatics DC10 roll.

Oh, sorry, I've just realised I get to act again.

Red squeals in terror as Elena turns his companion into dead meat and tries to shoot her with his heavy crossbow.

Before Grom can climb up to the plank, an enemy appears. Thankfully, Axton uses his Moustagic and freezes the goblin in place. Grom uses his falchion in a sweeping movement, threatening to slice the creature's legs.

With a growl of anger, Gul got to her feet, took a step to charge forward, slipped and fell. Luckily she didn't impale herself as she went down. Her face flushed with embarrassment and rage, she slammed a fist onto the ground.
This is 3 rounds in a row that she can't do anything because I can't make a DC10 acrobatics. Just need to roll a single 11+!

Axton focuses his will to conjure up a glob of acid and sends it hurtling at the goblin above Grommush.

Oh, I really hope that 6 damage is enough before it can fire again... *Crosses fingers!*

Elena finishes off Red. Gromm & Axton fail pathetically. Blue snaps back to as close to conscious as he can get. Looks around and screams in terror. Trying to wriggle back into the sewer pipe.

Grommush |

Grom carefully climbs the plank and makes it to the inner room, muttering things about how he loves fighting in mud pits.

![]() |

"Is everyone all right down there?" Elena calls, bloody knife in one hand and her black spear in the other. "There's a path behind the barricade here, too. Should we take that, or the door over there? Could do both at once in case there's another ambush?"

Gul gra-Dushnikh |

Acrobatics: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (11) - 1 = 10
Of course, *after* combat it works!
Her faced flushed with shame, Gul made her way back to the group. "Good idea on trying both at once. I'll open the door, Grom can look down that path. If anything wants to come at us, they'll run into one of us."

Grommush |

Not caring too much for stealth, Grom uses his big sword to bash some of the wooden boxes and put them out of his way, creating a gap in the barricade and having a look at the hole behind.

Axton Vendian |

"Ugh, goblins. Filthy creatures. When are we going to fight humanoids? You know, they say man is the most dangerous creature."
Axton then crosses the plank using the Acrobatics check he made to cross the plank before combat started. He follows Grommush.

Gul opens the door without any trouble. Not locked or trapped.

Elena follows Grom into the room from the goblin entrance on her side of the stink pit, weapon drawn. When Gul enters from the other side and nothing of note appears to be in it other than the ladder, she looks up. "Seems we have no choice but to climb. After you, my strong and brave companions!"
She grins and stands back, then starts casting a spell.
