Iustanus' magic slams into the creature, yet as the magic hurts his being, he shouts back in Draconic, "What... the fire, the fires, burnig, burning like the Eye..." momentarily it hears Iustanus' question and turns to the magic user and speaking only in Draconic retorts, "I see you try and stop me .. but I will use the ritual to save us."
Emory is unable to heal Renvi.
Renvi's first srike does some damage, as the blade penetrates the creature.

@Emory Doesn't take persistent damage (resistance) and is being clumsy.
Emory tries to provide Iustanus with some bandages and clips, but in watching the cyclops so close is unable to concentrate and provide healing. He then throws his spear in panic, that lacks any direction as it clatters into the wall.
Lande's first strike, crunches the cyclops chest, leaving it gasping for air that it doesn't need to breathe. His next misses completely as the creature staggers. As Lande caves in the cretures skull, it's eye glaze over a bit, but if sways in front of Renvi, whose sends his rapier deep into the creatures eye, although it does little damage for such a good strike, the creature staggers backwards, as the last of it's undeath life leaves the empty husk of a body. The body drops, leaving the silver and obsidian torc round it's neck shining in the torchlight.

It's best if only one of you search the room, so the others are left to pick up research points, because you are down to 3 main research areas, Map-Mural of Koloran, Stone Tablets of Ai’Sheen, Ocularity details for the Research rolls are found here you get no further research points for searching the room(s).

Emory enters the chamber from which the creature came. This room appears to have been the cell of a desperate prisoner. The walls are covered with scratches and feverish writing in a brownish-red fluid, and the stone furniture has been shattered into fragments. The room is cold and humid, with condensation forming on every surface. Emory is at least able to piece together from the room's broken stones, that the prisoner was Valgomorus, the last seer of the cyclopean Empire of Koloran. With no evidence of food found in the chamber, his writings tell you that after being abandoned by his kin, he starved to death only to rise again as a wight. Emory retrieves the silver and obsidian torc from the wight's neck. 1 treasure bundle.
Iustanus as he looks around the room starts to piece together several broken tablets in the rubble, changed skill to Academia Lore. With Lande's previous work on the stones, Iustanus is able to understand the basic history of the Koloran Empire, from its founding by refugees fleeing the declining Ghol-Gan Empire to their descendants’ demise during Earthfall. They learn that, like the Ghol-Gan from which they fled, the Koloran leaders also eventually turned to various demonic patrons and even fouler entities from the Dark Tapestry to try to stave off their fall.
The visions Renvi sees within the crystal are so violent and terrible, she is unable to hold her gaze, she learns nothing but her mind is terribly effected by the visions. I need a Will save from Renvi.

History learned through the research section is known by everyone as you bring your notes together at the end of each hour, it goes for the first hour as well.
As Lande stares into another facet of the green crystal, at first his mind is filled with learning. Lande sits on the floor listening to a teacher, with other young cyclops, learning of their shared history. He learns that cyclopes’ core understanding of their ability to see the future centered on the importance of their single eye. A cyclops seer lived in the present and the future simultaneously and could see events centuries before they occurred, though this ability was rare and in decline near the end of Koloran’s history.
Just as he assimilates this, a large male cyclops warrior enters the teaching room, raising it's axe above his head, "You will not be corrupted by the learning of weakness!" With that the cyclops starts a rampage through the class of young ones, their heads roll in pools of blood on the floor, as their screams piece your ears, their terror is your terror.
However as Lande falls to the floor exhausted by the ordeal of the ocularity, he realises that further research using this object is limited, you have nearly exhausted it if it's knowledge. 1RP remaining

Lande isn't any good with any of the skills needed for the map and doesn't speak any of the languages needed for the tablets. I could try the athletics assist if you think that will be helpful.
DM Deevor |
You don't need to be trained to attempt a check. To aid may require a higher roll than some of the checks, I haven't looked at your stats....
Renvi feels the full effect of the visions deals 2d4 ⇒ (1, 3) = 4HPs mental damage. However Lande is full of resolve and quickly puts the vision to the back of his mind.
Emory is able to learn more of the cyclops history from the stones he studies, revealing certain facts about the gods.
Renvi, Lande and Iustanus to go.

I'm worried about critical failures taking away research points. All the map skills are Int-based and I have +0 untrained. If the DC is 16 or higher, I'm more likely to crit fail than to succeed.
How far away from camp are we? Is there time to go look for someone that can translate the tablets for us?

I think we only have time for one more round of research. We need an hour to make our way out and make a suitable camp for the night.
DM Deevor |
DCs are unaffected by the oxidation, only the map suffers from the oxidation process, when I said 4-5 more hours of research I mean you have 4-5 more attempts, but you can attempt to stay longer if you like as you are not time limited..... Each Research category has a maximum number of Research Points available, so you have so far taken 4 of the 5 possible research point for the ocularity. The map's maximum number of research points reduces by 1 each hour.
Lore DCs are lower than the other DCs
Forgot to give a hero point to Lande after the fight with the wight, for exceptional damage, So 1 Hero Point for Lande.
Your target is 20 Research Points ...you are 1/2 way there at the moment ....

At the end of the hour you congregate and discuss your research and you learn that the empire of Koloran fell into decadence and violent debauchery as its leaders turned to demonic patrons and foul pacts. With the corruption the prophecies began to fail them, even the Koloran cyclopes began to seek powerful beings from outside the planes to inform their prophecies. Unfortunately, this knowledge came at a price; as you become aware of these nameless entities, you start to attract their attention, you start to feel eyes beginning to search for your souls.

The dwarven ranger Lande finds that the mpa appeals to his artistic side, earns 3 Research Points from the Map.
Emory Gunter gets deeply involved with the tablets that describe religious rituals used by the Cyclopeans. The rituals that both aided and then hindered their powers of prophesy.
Earns 2 Research Points from the Map (3 successes and 1 crit fail).
Renvi, tries hard for an hour to understand the religious significance of some history of their religious traditions, but after an hour of hard work she fails to understand any more details.
As Renvi failed on the first roll of 18 to succeed, I am she Renvi would try something different for the next 3 hours. So Renvi can choose another type of research for the last 3 hours.

As Lande has discovered using Art Lore or any of the other Lores, there is a significantly lower DC to receive Research Points even with +0 as a modifier, a clue is you have a 15% of a crit fail on those checks, so even if you don't make it, in most cases you will not reduce the RPs.
Waiting on Iustanus to roll for Research Points.

Iustanus studies the tablets with Emory and learns more details of the Cyclopean civilisation that died out here. Iustanus learns that tihe cyclopes of Koloran planned a ritual designed to draw on the power of the []demon lord Urxehl[/i], a troll-like being who revels in catastrophes. The nature of this ritual is not in any of the tomes located here, though it seems likely that it would require a sacrifice of truly monumental proportions.
You reach 20 Research Points..
With all this history learned from the Library of Koloran, the time is getting on and the darkness outside is deepening, the group decide to return to the base camp with their research notes and maps.
As the moon provides a bright silver light, the sound of a great disturbance comes from the edge of the base camp. A mysterious pillar of energy erupts skyward from an area near the quartermaster’s warehouse, filling the sky with crackling black lightning. Sapphire, the member of the Decemvirate, can be seen inside the pillar, grappling with a nebulous, shadowy figure. It’s unclear whether the creature is attacking Sapphire, or if the Decemvirate member is restraining the shadowy creature. As you watch, Sapphire’s eyes lock with yours, and they nod grimly. “Stand back!” they shout, pulling a small item from their belt.
The pillar of energy suddenly implodes, collapsing into a single point of intense negative space before exploding outward, sending Pathfinders and tents flying away from the epicenter of the blast. When the dust and smoke clear, Sapphire is gone. An empty suit of leather armor; a battered set of traveling clothes; and a scorched, sapphire-studded mask are all that remain.
Jorsal and Shrike rush forward and take charge of the situation, immediately recovering Sapphire’s Decemvirate helm and other gear. Other Pathfinders help to clear the area of debris and begin restoring the camp to some semblance of order. Jorsal sends you to the medical tent to be checked over. After an hour or so, he returns, visibly shaken but tight-lipped about the cause of the pillar or what happened to the Decemvirate member.
Jorsal listens absentmindedly to your stories, only showing interest in the description of the haunt’s effects and its relation to the dragon. He wonders if the shadowy figures you aw during that encounter could be related to the figure that grappled with Sapphire inside the pillar of energy.
After hearing your report, Jorsal mumbles a “good job” before leaving you in the medical tent expecting you to find your own quarters and going off to find the other venture-captains.
You have completed the scenario, reporting and certs should be complete by Monday.
