Several lumpy stalagmites reach up from the floor in the front half of this large, musty cave. Nearby, a pit leads down into utter darkness, while along the walls are ledges almost 10' off the ground.
The rear portion of the chamber is some kind of lair, with ragged furs and scaly skins arranged on the floor near a small pile of bones.
Near the furs and hides, a quartet of brawny, six-armed creatures with faces vaguely resembling those of skittermanders seem to be threatening one another over who gets to eat first the three unconscious pahtras on the pile!
The monstrous creatures, which must be the stridermanders that the vesk tour guide told you about, are too busy with one another to notice you right away.
Because the stridermanders are arguing, you were automatically able to get to the edge of the stalagmites without being detected (and just within your darkvision range to see the nest). If you want to start a combat, you can each take a standard or move action in a surprise round. If you want to do something other than initiate combat have at it (keeping in mind that if you leave cover, you'll likely be detected).
I've put a pic of the stridermanders and the pahtras (which are unconscious for now, despite the image) on Slide # 3.

Twin bolts of fire and electricity from Quonx and Gazigaz devastate the closest stridermander! The eight-limbed monster flees for its life, racing right past its assailants and down into the pit.
But the other stridermanders remain uncowed. Each races forward and hurls an obsidian spear!
Quonx and Gazigaz hit, triggering Black's morale condition to flee.
The remaining stridermanders each do a move action to get within throwing range and then attack. Blue attacks Stra-Der, Red attacks Dakoyo, and Yellow attacks Quonx. Each of you get cover from the stalagamites.
Only Dakoyo gets hit, and the weapon does less damage because it's archaic. Dakoyo, you take 8 P

Quonx hurls a grenade, but it takes a bad bounce and the resulting ball of fire does only a trivial amount of damage to the stridermanders. However, one of the stridermanders projects a sharp tendril from its abdomen and Quonx barely avoids it!
Both stridermanders made the save for half damage. The stridermanders have 10' reach with their feeding tendril so the grenade throw provoked an AoO, but the attack missed.

Stra-Der jumps down from the ledge and races over to the nearest stridermander, trying to slam her doshko into the creature's back! The creature tries to spring away but reacts too slowly, and has one of its legs severed!

A crit! 28 points of damage, and the Wound critical hit effect severs a leg. GM Jhaeman should bot PCs more often :)

Although the rest of its kind have been defeated, the remaining stridermander doesn't show fear. Instead, it snarls and tries to impale Dakoyo with its feeding tendril! But the mystic just manages to bat the attack away with battle staff.
