Chosen at a young age (just after her welpling stomach had sealed up) the Skittermander who would be known as Stra-Der was scouted for the band Strawberry Machine Cake as a 'promotional skittermander' for her hot pink fur. Packaged with several other skittermander of similar hue, the group was shipped around and attended all of Strawberry Machine Cake's major engagements, mostly as a promotional stunt. The young Skittermander instantly fell in love with the band, and so took part of the band's name as her own, becoming Stra.

For a while, the unusually buff and bright Stra was happy to help the band, and did well. She became increasingly entrenched in the behind-the scenes activities of the band. At first she simply helped corral her fellow skittermanders and organize them. Then, after a few particularly unruly fans tried to jump the line and chase down the band, she started getting security guard training so she could help that way. She also started taking on more and more organizational aspects for the constantly overworked band's many facilitators and logistics people.

Eventually though, she became disillusioned with the behind-the-scenes workings of Strawberry machine cake. She longed to have a larger impact on the universe than to help already rich people make more money. She wanted to help heal people emotionally, or prevent harm from befalling them. But she didn't know how.

That was, until she attended one particular concert where a band of Starfinders saved the concert from a massive threat, then proceeded to give a great send of to some fallen comrades that healed another Starfinder's heart. Overcome with how selfless and helpful these Starfinders were, Stra decided to join the Starfinders on the spot.

Stra took part of the Starfinder's name as part of her own to signify this massive change in her life, becoming Stra-Der. She still works for Strawberry Machine cake, but only part time, as she has now dedicated most of her life to helping wherever the Starfinders need her most.
