What monster did you summon Silgil? Sorry for slow posting, family has all been sick this week which has kind of taken the wind of out of sails
Sylvester Solstar

@GM Aerondor - I believe that he wanted to summon a pony. If you look at his previous post (right before his last post) he says as much. I hope that your family feels better soon.

Some of you are awful far back from the rest of us. Is that where you really want to be? I mean you could probably hear screaming if combat breaks out, but it could take you a while to get there.
Silgil
|
Yep, a nice heavy pony. Figured some weight would be needed to spring any traps.
GM Aerondor
|
The pony trots down the corridor, having little trouble with the width or height of the tunnel. It attracts no traps, however at the intersection you hear a cry of amazement as a trio of men leap out at it, stabbing it with their short-swords. The pony goes down under the blades.

Hadanka shows what a warrior can do, slipping past the first cultist. Did I say slip? At just the wrong moment, his foot slids in a puddle, opening himself up to a counter strike even as he delivers his own nasty blow to the man in red.

But the mans own attack clings off a nearby jutting beam.
Shen sends a painful blob of acid at the man in blue. He screams in pain. A second scream of pain is heard as Ledt adds to his unlucky day.
Graff shows it is not only the cultists who are unlucky today, his own attack being poorly judged as it opened himself up.

Graff with a single stroke settles the discussion about axe vs sword. Definitively.
Sebastus nods and applauds. "And a masterful evisceration with your dagger as well, if you would permit me to say so.[b]" he replies to Ledt.
Hadanka joins in the fun as the poor green cultist is subjected to an uncanny series of strikes.
"[b]You were just lulling them into a false sense of security!" says that amazed fallen lordling.
A reminder of the tunnels
These tunnels were carved out by hand and braced with thick planks of wood. The carved ceilings stretch to 10 feet in height and around five feet in width. The walls and floor are damp, and the sound of dripping water can be heard throughout.
Slightly further on you can see an eerie green light.
And because this is PBP, I'll uncover the map of that area and give you its description as well.
A tunnel from the north ends here That is the tunnel you enter from; a small stream of water flows from it to the center of this chamber, where it plunges through an shadowy sinkhole. Glowing green algae coats the chamber’s walls and ceilings, painting the entire room in an eerie light.
Sylvester Solstar
|
Sylvester walks back to Shaggy. He mounts his pet and rides behind Shen.
"So what is next? Should we explore the room with the sinkhole or just skip it?"
"It does seem to be a likely place for a good trap if you ask me."
He turns to Silgil.
"Perhaps it is time for another pony?"
Silgil
|
Silgil makes his way forward to see what Sylvester is talking about. "An excellent idea my diminutive friend. One pony coming up!"
With a flourish he waves the wand and calls out the activation phrase "spring" and a pony appears at the edge of he pit.
GM Aerondor
|
The pony dances back from the edge. Looking closely you can see there is a knotted rope leading down into the pit.
Ledt
|
"A perfect series of perfect strikes my nobleman friend" Ledt recovers his dagger from the cultist's open liver.
"I am surprised that those three were still alive with so many traps around. Probably they were the last ones though" Ledt inspects the bodies for potions or any other useful items.
Afterwards he comes to the pit room and checks the rope "Seems safe"
Perception: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (7) + 0 = 7
The halfling gives some time for those proud of being muscle to go down or those proud of being smart do smart things, but he taps the ground with a foot impatient. The halfling's hair starts to sparkle as he starts to measure the depth of the pit and the length of the rope.
GM Aerondor
|
The cultists, for surely that is what they are, are dressed in chain shirts and armed with shortswords and a shield.
Each also has a stoppered bottle with the label "Drink me in an emergency" written in bright, friendly letters.
One has a coin purse, with a nice pile of platinum in it. And a note. A very interesting note.
See slides
@Ledt Are you pulling up the knotted rope? Looking down, there is just darkness.
Graff Leogil
|
Graff tests the strength of the rope as he peers down.
"Down?" he asks.
Ledt
|
"Harvestman Quint? Who is that?" Ledt reads the note and casts a squint look at the fallen cultists "It is a surprise the church of Zyphus still exists with such behaviors instigated by their god"
"Those potions might just be 'accidental inflict wounds' magics I fear" the halfling makes sure they are safe.
Detect magic + Spellcraft: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (19) + 8 = 27
---
At the pit, Ledt sends his dancing lights down to help see what is in the bottom. If the bottom is not seen, then he pulls the rope to see how long it is and if something is attached at the end.
"Down is the new up" Ledt answers back to Graff.
PFS CORE - Hádanka
|
GM, is the hole deeper than 60' darkvision can see? If it is, he will drop a lit sunrod down the hole.
After all this, I do not trust a rope they would provide. He gets his own rope and hook out of his pack.
GM Aerondor
|
Ledt is suspiciously checks the aura of the potions. But it *looks* clean - he thinks they look just like cure moderate wounds potions. Surely the cult wouldn't put masking magic on harmful potions to make them appear helpful.
"Zephus is the Grim harvestman" offers Sebastus.
"Harvestman is a mighty title, like high priest."
Hadanka looks down the hole. To his keen sight it looks like it just goes down about twenty feet. And the knotted rope looks like an easy climb too.
No need for a sunrod
Silgil
|
After the pony vanishes in a *poof* mere seconds after being summoned, Silgil whispers to the others "My bet is that this fellow we have tagging along is this Baillaset mentioned in the note. He sure is the observant sort and seems to enjoy the carnage. Though one might think that we are part of a curse and that doesn't site well with me. Not at all."
Though it is a whisper, he is not all that careful about being overheard. Silgil entertains fantasies of throwing Baillaset down into the pit. But he knows that condemning a man based on feelings isn't right. Even if they are rather strong and firm feelings.
Sylvester Solstar
|
Sylvester looks at the rope with little enthusiasm. There has been far too much climbing these days on all of his missions.
"Well are we going to go down that hole?"
He scratches his head.
"Also there is at least one more passage to explore on this level. We can always tackle that first."
Silgil
|
"I think we are just asking for trouble if we try to explore the whole dang place. I'm hoping that we find what we are looking for at the other end of that hole. It seems the most likely place to hide it if you ask me."
GM Aerondor
|
Sebastus quivers a little at Silgil's words.
"I told you about Bailaset, my lord. I was the one who sent to the society for assistance. You can't throw me down there." he falls begging at the feel of Silgil, his sobs echoing down the tunnels.

Since they put a rope and they know the place, they obviously expected that they (or someone else) would use the rope. They were trying to kill each other, not knowing about us. Seems like there has to be some reason to go down there. {shrug} I think it is worth checking.
He jams his grappling hook into some secure location and begins to climb down.
Take 10 climb is a 17.
