When this sequence of notes is played, there is a grinding noise, and then the doors slide open.
This chamber has a stone staircase leading to a platform of blue stone, polished to a mirror-like finish. At the platform’s center is an inlaid gold rune five feet in diameter. The walls are covered in small, tight-fitting ceramic tiles creating an intricate mosaic. The wall around the platform is an exception, bearing three large, clear, triangular quartz tiles. Large, clear windows to the south and east provide a view of a large cavern that appears open to the sky.
You do not have much time to ponder this, however, as two large statues in the room begin to move.

Xen wonders what these things are, as she Swift Action stares at Red and casts Mirror Image on herself.
Knowledge (arcana): 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (14) + 5 = 19
Mirror Images: 1d4 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4
If Red is not immune to mind effecting (Xen can effect undead) it takes -3 to will saves, -3 to attacks (-5 to attack Xen), -3 to SR and DCs of its spells and spell like abilities, gains bleed 3, its speed is reduced by 5', and must make a will save DC22 or be sickened by pain
Note that if/when Blue steps up to attack Xen will trigger the mirror image trick in Sukit and give him 3 mirror images.

cmlobue |

Xen can't quite remember what these creatures are. Though Arcana is the correct skill to attempt.

The creature is not affected by the stare.
Vincenzo is sure he has seen one of these before. It's a great wyrm red dragon! ;)

cmlobue |

These are advanced lead golems. They are constructs. You may request 3 pieces of information.

![]() |

Immunities, vulnerabilities, special attacks.

cmlobue |

Immunities: acid, electricity, magic, construct traits
Vulnerabilities: none
Special Attacks: Retributive Miasma (Ex) Any attack that overcomes the damage reduction of the lead golem causes fine lead particles to fill the air within a 5-foot radius of the lead golem. This cloud of lead persists for 1 round; any creatures within the area or that pass through the cloud are exposed to the cloud’s poisonous effects. Subsequent attacks damaging the golem increase the duration of the cloud by 1 round each.
Poison Cloud—inhaled; save Fort 16; frequency 1/round for 6 rounds; effect 1d3 Constitution and 1d3 Wisdom damage; cure 2 saves. The save DC is Constitution-based.

![]() |

Tess tells the others everything she can recall about these nasty things.

cmlobue |

Sorry, this probably should have been under vulnerabilities.
A gust of wind or neutralize poison spell directed at the lead golem dissipates any clouds created by its retributive miasma ability and prevents it from using that ability for 1d6 rounds.

Princess Xen cresates illusory duplicates of herself, then tries to manipulate the mind of one of the golems, but cannot make a connection. Kitajo studies the situation.
The golem to your right approaches the door, triggering Xen's second illusion. It then attempts to pound Sukit with a massive fist.

”They’re probably immune to everything, but who knows, this -could- work. And being pounded flat by a superheated golem isn’t that different than getting crushed by one at room temperature, right?
Vincenzo’s hands move incredibly quickly. He picks up his crossbow and loads a bolt coated in adamantine weapon blanch. He then quickly attaches a bomb to that bolt and fires at the golem to his right. Normally quite nimble, Tess’s magic accelerates him to a blur.

Tessara uses her magic to speed her party. Sukit slashes at the golem, cutting a large chunk of its hide out, and kicking up some toxic dust around it shown in green. Vincenzo does not find out if alchemy works on these creatures as the bolt flies past and explodes in the corner.
Did Sukit inhale poison this round (1=yes): 1d2 ⇒ 2
Holding your breath gives you a 50% chance of avoiding exposure for that round. Anyone entering that area must roll that, then attempt a Fort save if it fails.

Unsure if she has cover from the the two enemies due to the tower shield. And Sukit himself might provide enough partial cover to prevent an AOO. But since she is unsure she will cast defensively.

Xen casts a spell, and both golems are outlined in sparkles. Red seems disoriented. Kitajo moves in and slams his fist into that creature. It seems solid, but (assuming your attacks count as only cold iron, silver and lawful) does not seem to hurt it as much as he hoped. The strike does kick up another cloud of dust, which Kitajo accidentally breathes in, but shaes off the effect.

OUT OF COMBAT

Once the dust clears Sukit looks back at the more cerebral of the group.
I guessed the last one. Anyone know what that says?
He gestures to the inlay.

![]() |

”I speak over a dozen languages. Is this one of them? Of course not, but hmm, there might be some similarities...”
Vincenzo picks up his crossbow, then goes to look. “Ah, yes, I can read this. I believe the runes cause something nearby to move.”
He then peers out the windows, curious if that thing is visible.

”Anyone need any healing? I’m happy to use your wands to get everyone patched up! I can heal a bit more with magic, but I’d rather save those for real dangers,” the elf advised.

cmlobue |

You can see through the windows.
This massive chasm has a grand domed ceiling studded with stalactites, barely visible within the multitude of colors racing across the surface. The entire cavern mirrors both the outside weather, including clouds, and the skyline to the horizon. This skyline is interrupted in jagged pieces where chunks of rock have fallen from the ceiling. The bottom of the chasm is lost in darkness.
Three triangular black crystal platforms with 3-foot-high crenellations hover in the air suspended 200 feet above the cavern’s floor, at the same elevation as the rest of the complex. You cannot see the writing on the surfaces of the platforms from where you are.

![]() |

You were sooo brave. Xen says to Sukit as she kisses him again on the cheak, renewing the image trick.
Note that current images will remain for about 10 more minutes. Also, if an enemy is blind I do not think you need to roll for a mirror image miss chance - just the 50% miss chance from being blind. Hence, if an enemy has a lot of images closing your eyes reduces the miss chance to 50%.

![]() |

”Keep watching then Sukit, if you don’t mind. Watching how it breaks will be informative.”
Vincenzo presses the travel rune, then the right arrow.

cmlobue |

If it breaks, it is in a highly uninformative way - nothing happens.
I've moved everyone into the room on the map. Feel free to place yourselves elsewhere, look around - the usual.

![]() |

Vincenzo reverses the order, pressing the right arrow, then the travel button.
“Anything now?”

cmlobue |

Still nothing.

![]() |

”Maybe there’s a clue through the door that will help with the strange buttons,” Tess suggests.

cmlobue |

Inlaid in the dark granite wall on the west side of this room is a large square indentation. Beneath it lie four rectangular pieces engraved with runes, each radiating a soft light: brown stone, blue metal, red crystal, and white ivory.
