Ziyass snarls in the face of the caypin and if it is still up punches it twice in the face.

GM Wolffauer |
Jim - seriously. And to top it off they put these two large creatures behind the brain vat.
Ven and Ziyass both hit once, burning away bits of the creature. While Gil-Oloth and Gunnz finish it off.
Out of combat
The caypin corpses fail to answer the questions of how they got here, how they were surviving and what caused them to mutate.
Threzlomn brings back his magic sight and scans the final area, producing good news and bad news. The relic is here, but it is at the bottom of the brain vat. It is sitting on top of a large, sludgy lump of soft biological material.
Gunnz |
perception: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (19) + 13 = 32
"Ugh. I do not want to reach in and get that. And how did it get in there anyway?" wonders the dancer.
'Big Jim' |
Jim gets to work looking at how the brain vat is constructed and how it may be partially disassembled to open it but do as little damage as possible.

"Anyone bring a brick?"
Gunnz |
"A brick?" asks Gunnz.
Then light dawns.
"Oh, to smash the glass? Don't we have people with large weapons to do that? But if they got it it, we must be able to get it out the same way.
Maybe they teleported it?"
Venizandrikal |
Ven snakes his head to look back at his allies, his draconian face a little unsure, "I can probably break it. Is that wise?"
Ziyass |
Ziyass checks to make sure the environmental settings on her armor are running and volunteers to grab the relic while Ven holds on so as to pull her out ASAP!
Threzlomn Cinderfall |
Threzolmn steps up beside the extremely perceptive Gil and lends her a small glimpse of foresight.
Perception, Aid: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (9) + 12 = 21
"If you don't mind I can show you about a minute from now. Hopefully that can help you with finding a way to get that dang thing out of there."
Ziyass |
"Don't forget that we still have to get the hatch door open so we can get out of this telenki. I suggest that we get ready to run out as soon as we grab the relic." Ziyass is so very ready to get back home with Ven.
GM Wolffauer |
Any attempts to damage the vat prove fruitless (hardness 45).
Between the group of you, you identify a way in through the top of the vat - any area where something pulled the frame apart giving access to the liquid inside.
The vat runs floor to ceiling (about 20'), the floor of the vat sits a few feet above the floor you are standing on. Someone could swim down to the bottom, or be lowered on a cable.
GM Wolffauer |
Time is tight, and it really isn't a hard swim (no checks needed)
'Big Jim' |
"Why would we risk you taking a swim in whatever that is?"
Buster the drone rolls forward click-clacking its manipulator arms.
"Drones don't care about drowning, disease, poison, radiation, or a whole range of other things incompatible with life"
Jim will send buster, running a cable for recovery.
Gunnz |
"Yeah, I mean, what if that brain is like in acid or something. And think about all the disease that cerebral fluid might carry, even if it is not acidic." mentions Gunnz.
Threzlomn Cinderfall |
Threz gives the pahtra an inquisitive look, "Don't even need to have precognition to know diving in that vat would be a bad, bad idea. Let's send Buster-buddy instead. He can bust his way outta the jar if needed anyways!"
GM Wolffauer |
You maneuver Buster up to the top of the brain vat and then lower him down past the brain. The brain doesn't seem to react to his presences, and after a moment you get him to the bottom of the vat. There is no problem retrieving the relic from atop the lump of biomatter.
Want him to do anything else while he is in there? Or haul him back out and high tail it out of here?
'Big Jim' |
Unless there's something else obvious worth investigating, get the relic, get out, get running :p Will keep Buster at a healthy distance until we get time to decontaminate as well, who knows what that goop could be
Gunnz |
Gunnz points to the bodies. "Do we need to drag them with us? Either for a burial, or to try and trace them?" she asks.
Threzlomn Cinderfall |
Threz gives Buster a look over from a distance before casting a spell that causes the air around his hands to shimmer some as he approaches the robot. "Hold on, I'll get him cleaned up. You guys figure out how we get out of here." The dwarf then slowly starts to revert the robot, part by part, piece by piece back to how it was right before it dove into the vat.
He looks back at everyone after finishing with Buster and pauses for a second. "Ya know if needed, I can get Gil to share her memories of hacking the central console again. Might help the engineering types hack in again."
Not sure if it would help, but the only help Threz can be right now is possibly casting Share Memory
Venizandrikal |
Ven looks to Gunnz solemnly and nods, "I will gather them. Regardless of what they were or did in life, their bodies do not deserve to rot in a colossus." As he says this light glints from somewhere in the tekenki across his golden scales and gives him a regal appearance. He then looks to each of the others. "Get prepared to leave this creature and keep going. I will meet back with you at the entrance."
With that Ven begins rushing around the insides of the tekenki, gathering the dead bodies of the Aspis.
GM Wolffauer |
As Ven starts to head off, the lurching, jolting, and screeching of the colossi battle outside has begun to die down, and the innards’ mechanical systems appear to be stabilizing. A muffled crackle breaks the silence as the team’s comm units light up. “Bzzzzt … battle ending … bzzzt.” It’s Radaszam’s voice, and he sounds agitated. “Get out … bzzt … get stuck … now!” Just as the communication ends, a deafening grinding sound echoes from the tekenki’s bay—the breach in its armor you used to climb inside here. Light from the outside pours in. It’s time to escape, and you haven’t got time to lose!
Most of you are near the last brain vat, with Ven starting to head away. You have only a few rounds while the breach in the armor is open, and from there it is a 30 foot drop to the ground. What are your escape plans?
Gunnz |
Gunnz is more than happy to double-move to the breach in the armour. She prepares to activate her jet-pack to help in the descent, but wants to take a peak outside first, to make sure she is not just moving into another Tek's mouth!
Venizandrikal |
"This sounds like it will be our best chance!" Ven bellows. "Let's go!" As Ven says the last part his heavy footsteps beat deeply on the floor. He then grabs Threz and Jim, one in each draconian arm, runs and leaps out the opening Gunnz is peering through.
Ziyass |
Ziyass nods toward Ven, grabs Buster, and starts running toward the hatch, trusting in their ability to get the console to open it. "Everybody get ready to use their jetpacks or jump jets as soon as they get there!"
Gunnz |
Gunnz follows the others out, as soon as she is sure the way is clear.
GM Wolffauer |
You head towards the hatch, and as you round the corner you can see daylight through the opening. Beyond the 30 foot drop you spy no immediate dangers.
The extra weight and odd balance makes it hard for Ven to fly, but he gets his passengers to the ground safely.
Gunnz and Ziyass follow close behind, jetting further away from the tekenki and towards the approaching vehicle with Radaszam and Luku Gaiul.
A second later Gil-Oloth gracefully exits the hatch on her floating couch.
"Get a move on! I'm not losing another eye to these beasts!" yells Luku Gaiul as he swings the vehicle to a stop. "Let's go Starfinders!" screams Radaszam pumped up on adrenaline.
Luku Gaiul takes off as the last person gets in or on, not waiting a moment longer. He races away from the two colossi and back towards the city.
'Big Jim' |
"Well it was a success, and a very strange adventure" comments Jim.
Gil-Oloth |
Agreed! I would have love to be able to get more into the beast and its heart. The technology that runs that thing is quite interesting, a mix between organic and technologic.
Gunnz |
"I wonder how they repair themselves, and how those four different brains work together to control them?" sighs Gunnz. Then looks back at the giant figures.
"Imagine dancing with them!"
Ziyass |
Ziyass has a thoughtful look on her face. She is intends to mention to Gaiul the possibility of blowing up those 4 jars as a way to kill a telenki. A quick in-and-out is definitely feasible.
Threzlomn Cinderfall |
Threz hurries his shorter legs to try keeping up with everyone as they leave the kaiju. There's a moment where he seems to freeze midstride and then blips out of existence for a second before appearing a few feet ahead of everyone. "Dang, I'm lagging. Might be time to start moving on if this is happening."
He does his best impression of a terrified, breathing stone as Ven carries him out of the beast, doing his absolute best to not look at the ground.
On the way back to the city, Threz ponders, "Well, I should add those details to my notes for when I get back to the library. Those things are much much more devastating and terrifying than I would have understood from what I've read of them alone."
GM Wolffauer |
A small crowd has gathered near Command Central, just inside the gates, and an enormous cheer resounds when you return. Locals of all ages demand to hear your tales of heroics. As vocal as any of those voices are Radaszam and Luku Gaiul, who want to know exactly what happened inside the tekenki once you made your daring foray inside the colossus.
During the jubilation, Luku Gaiul reports that the colossi who engaged in the battle both staggered off with severe injuries. This news comes as a boon to the Daimalkans, who know that their settlement is now safer due to the your actions.
In the coming days Guardians Honara Tren and Zupisha Loralu send personal messages to you admiring your bravery and thanking you for injuring the colossi. Meanwhile, Radaszam is positively ecstatic over the events that have transpired, and he fully intends to broadcast the results across the Pact Worlds upon his return. He promises that “this is one show Zo! won’t get the rights to air, that’s for sure!”
Congratulations! Full marks on your success, and thank you for sticking with an extra long game. I've got a few things I need to work on to keep my games moving faster, and I appreciate your patience. Chronicles will be coming later today.
'Big Jim' |
"Well it sure was great working with you all - and some really tricky machinery and computers in there, a whole other tech level beyond what I'm used to that's for sure. Ven and Ziyas full credit to you pair, saved a lot of our hides back there"
Gunnz |
Gunnz also nods her thanks.
"It's not often that I just feel like a tag-along on missions like this. You guys operate at a whole nother level."
Gil-Oloth |
I was totally confident in Ziy and Ven ability to keep us all alive. I've read it in the Stars.
Says Gil-Oloth from her couch.
I need to learn more about this alien technology. It's was almost beyond my understanding.
She adds, while puffing from her hooka, already half-asleep.
