/me waves.
Thank you for the opportunity. Let's see how this goes, shall we?
Question:
You indicated that you weren't positive one way or the other about Background Skills. Are we using them, or not? I just want to get the character sheet cleaned up.

Thanks very much for having me! Sorry about being a little late, somehow I missed the update.
I need to finish tweaking her character sheet--I think I am going to focus on ranseur (as a refluffed giant fishing spear) rather than harpoon, and I need to add background skills. Oh, and I only bought gear based on average cost, and IIRC we actually have 200 gp to spend so I may update her gear a bit as well.
But I will jump in the main thread in the meantime.

Character sheet is updated. Due to shifting her profession skill to a background skill, I added Heal as a regular skill and added a Healer's Kit to her equipment list. I removed the harpoon and rope and added a boarding axe, and some diving goggles, among other minor tweaks. Switched her feat to Power Attack. Plan is mainly two handed fighting, but will take the Underhanded Ranger Combat Style (from Ultimate Intrigue) for Combat Expertise and some other feats so she can build some combat maneuvers for some minor battlefield control.
Let me know if anything looks amiss.

Awesome, thanks Sal. If everyone can chuck a link to a full character sheet in their bio somewhere that would be helpful and make sure their taglines have initiative, perception, and sense motive
Now I love interplayer RP so if you guys think there is anything you would chat to one another about whether as a group or one on one there would be plenty of time in the 6 week journey.
I'm flexible on starting funds if its appropriate for the context. Sal, you can find borrow some rope from the colony supplies and could probably borrow a harpoon from one of the sailors.
frankly I'm pretty flexible on a lot of stuff at this point so if you have an questions or requests let me know this week.
Lastly (for now) if everyone could make sure they have a couple of things in their backstory that I could chose to bring into the plot at some stage that would be very helpful. Some of you already have some interesting hooks I have plans for ;)

Sorry for my extended, unexcused, unexplained absence. I have been feeling burnt out. But not specifically on my games; feeling burnt out on pretty much all of my normal routines. I'm taking steps to snap out of it over the next few days and I hope to resume posting soon.
Luimener
I just scanned caps' account and alts (Katria Bitterstream). The above post on the 9th was repeated across multiple characters, I assume all the active ones, but there have been no posts since.
Looks like the player hasn't been back on the boards at all in nearly a week.

Enjoy your break!
Cannonball Sal
PS: I'll be taking a break myself through Friday. I may check in on occasion but if the GM returns and we continue, please bot me as necessary. Joyous Yule, Merry Christmas, and Happy New Year to you all!
Cannonball Sal
Thanks for the update. Hope you are feeling better!

I wasn't having issues but a friend of mine was--needed to clear cookies before he could log in. (My browser always empties its cache when I close it so I expect I avoided the problem.) I think they've been doing some site updates which always tends to shake loose some gremlins.

Hopefully we're all back now. Been catching up on the backlog - including reporting and chronicles. Had no less than three online Roll20 games to report.

Hello!
Having only just seen the solution to the login problem I am now able to log back in to say I'm going away... sorry...
I have a family trip from tomorrow through to the following Tuesday (26th). Details only got worked out on Friday
I've been trying to back online to let you all know, sorry about what turned into short notice.
I'll have a chance to update the combat before I go tomorrow morning (Its 1am for me and I thought I'd give logging on another go and managed to see the solution thanks to Sette & Coldir)
Cannonball Sal
Family emergency. May not be able to post for awhile. Will update when I can.
Cannonball Sal
Situation is ongoing but improving. I'm hoping I may be able to return by the weekend. I will keep you posted as I am able; please bot me as needed in the meanwhile. Sal can always wander off distracted by fish if necessary.
Cannonball Sal
Hi folks, I am mostly back but may be a little slower than usual. I can see we are in combat, and am trying to follow though of course it's always hard to go through so many posts. Which monster needs a hurting?
Cannonball Sal
Awesome, thanks!
Cannonball Sal
Just take it. Sal will pout in character, but OOC it's not a big deal. :) I think it's better you get the materials you can use since druids are so limited in that way. Eventually she'll ditch her own buckler once she gets better armor. (The masterwork chain shirt might be an option, but I'd rather not have the ACP.)

I just realised that the last time I tried to post this it got eaten.
Don't take this as an indication of anything about to happen just something I wanted to make clear going forward.
Two major points to remember,
1: The survival instinct is called fight or flight for a reason. Think about what your character will and wont put their lives in jeopardy for.
2: I will put us in initiative for some potentially social encounters to make sure everyone can participate and so that if it goes south we are ready. (again this isn't a direct comment on anything that has happened yet or in the immediate future just something to keep in mind.)
Your characters don't know initiative has been rolled.

Coldir
Sal, I'm sure Coldir's upbringing was much different. He was a spoiled only child by an aristocratic family, but he was so out of touch with his surroundings that he did not even know that he was spoiled. It was just expected.
@gm
1. That's a tough one to ponder. I'll have to wrestle with that one.
2. I just listed to glass cannon's podcast where they were discussing staying in initiative after an encounter for similar reasons!
GM Fox--Phantom
Wow went from no posts to two :/
Anyway.
@coldir I don’t necessarily need a response from you (wouldn’t object to one, always to good to have more info about my PCs)
I just wanted you to remember as characters the term “balanced encounter” isn’t a thing :p
You would have been warned by the sailors of things they’ve seen in the wild (some even based on reality :p )
I’m not saying I’m going to throw an adult dragon at you but I’m not saying every encounter will go your way if combat starts.
