"Ha! Angeus exclaims, her smile wide at their success.
She turns to Lady Peliope, "So, who is this? " she asks, motioning to the unconscious assassin.
"It's Seth," she says. "I never thought my cook would be the murderer."
Hroethgar searches him for other weapons after removing the dagger from his reach.
Angeus looks at Lady Peliope, "Really....the cook? " she says, then shrugs and help the others search the 'cook' and bind his arms and legs.

"I thought it would be Dakath," she says.
"Who is Dakath?" Lizette asks as she tears a strip of cloth off the bedsheets and uses it to bind the knife wound she suffered.
"My uncle," Peliope responds.
"Uncle....Uncles can be notoriously protective of their nieces..." Angeus observes.
"Do you think your Uncle may have put this Cook up to this? Maybe by magical means? I mean , is Dakath capable of such a thing?"
"No, certainly not," said Peliope. "My Uncle wouldn't dare do something like that."
Why would the cook want to make it look like the vae thought? He could have just killed him an left no calling card. Why the cards and where i he get them?Hroethgar muses out loud.
"He probably wanted us to harass the assassins and get ourselves killed in the process. The Vai does not take kindly to people messing in their business...or trying to pawn off a poorly executed murder on them!"
"In any case, we've found our apparent murderer. Let's check him over for any magic then bring him in. This could be a mind control incident."
Maicoh intones a few words then looks the elf over.

"Well I guess we should take him to the Watch and turn him in. Up you go my fine fella, and watch the foot!"
Lizette takes him out to the nearest guard station to turn him in.
The nearest Watch station sees you bring in the elf. "What is going on here?" says the watchman.
Angeus, holding the cook up on one side, , "This one's confessed to the murder of Lord Renn Sadar, duly witnessed by all of us Writ-ed investigators! " she declares importantly.
"Do you have such a writ?" the watchman asks, curious.
Hroethgar presents the sealed writ to the guard.
The guard looks at the sealed writ, and finding it official, says, "Alright leave him here, but because he is from the noble district, he will have a fair trial."
Angeus looks at the watchman, confused, "Why would that matter? Does not everyone get a fair trial? "
"Normally, yes."

Lizette seems fine with leaving the murderer with the guard, no matter what the outcome.
"Was there not an agreed-upon price for solving this crime? Where is our pay?"
"Young lady, the agreed pay hasn't been accounted for yet, patience."
Lizette looks a bit chastened by the guard's rebuke but does not let it bother her for long.
"Well, now what?" she asks the group as they wait around.
"There's got to be some reason they were leaving calling cards everywhere. I wonder if there's more to discover at the elf house."
"Like I said, it might have been an attempt to get us to harass them and probably get killed for our trouble!"
Lizette waits for the group to finish with the guards before leaving.
"Well I wonder how long it will take to get our pay? I have debts that need paying!"
Finally an accountant comes out.
"We have accounted for your pay," she says. "1000 gp, for each of you."
From where she'd been leaning against the wall, alternating between examining her nails and staring daggers at the watchman, Angeus had listened to Lizette and Maicoh's discussion with little interest; they'd got their confession...now only the matter of their fee!
When the accountant arrived and made his announcement, she clapped her hands together and exclaimed, "Wonderful! Just wonderful! " and steps up to receive her reward.
The accountant gives Angeus her reward: 1,000 gp.
Angeus takes up the reward and smiles, tipping her head to the accountant, "Thank you , good sir! Let us know if the Watch has need of my....er...our, services!"
As she steps aside to allow her fellows a chance to take their rewards, Angeus couldn't help but think of what she might buy; a new sword, fancy new leathers...something magical perhaps!

Lizette steps forward and takes her chit. She frowns while looking at the "reward" she received.
"What the hell is this? What am I suppose to do with this thing?"
Having grownup in poverty, this is the first time Lizette has come across this form of maoney.
"Don't spend it all at one place," the accountant said.
Maicoh accepts his chit and looks it over. "Thanks. So, uh, what do we do now? Any more murders to solve?"
"Well, sleuths, you can solve a murder in the Rivergate district," said the constable. "Since you've worked on this one, perhaps you can also solve that one. A churchman has died of murder, and you should solve it."
Still looking dubiously at the 'chit' she was given for payment, Lizette looks up and asks,
"How much does this one pay?"
"500 gold each," he says.
Angeus takes the chit and tucks into a safe place under her tunic, saying to Lizette, "You take that chit to the bank and they'll let you take that amount of gold! Very civilized!"
At the word of a new mystery, Angeus claps her hands together, "500 gold! Done! Come friends, let's go do the Watch's job once again!" she says, winking at the Constable, letting him in on the joke.
The Constable winks back.
