Seeing the undead creature that Usawoti was fighting twitching on the ground, Torsten walked over and stomped on it's head, ending it's un-life. "Well fought." He said. "Looks like that fooking goblin tried to lead us into a trap. We'll need to assume that whatever else is in here will be ready for us."

About to hit the undead thing another time with the hammer, Usawoti nodded as Torsten crushes the things head under his heavy dwarven boot. ချန်နယ်စွမ်းအင်" Speaking in necril under his breath Usawoti Channels energy to repair his own wounds and possibly any his friend sustained.
Feeling the dwarf was begin generous with his 'well fought' comment, Usawoti grunted, but nodded in agreement with the need to be ready. Pointing his hammer towards the wooden bridge, he responded, "Either way it appears we need to cross the bridge."
Moving nearer to the bridge, he knelt and examined it for a moment.
Taking 10 (25/30) on perception inspecting the bridge
Torsten Runeforger |
"Aye. I'll be right behind ye." He said, taking up the rear. Given that his enchantments were back up, if anyone tried to sneak up behind them then he'd know. Staying 15ft from Usawoti. Just outside of the blast area, I'd imagine, of most traps or ambushes
Usawoti |
Is the pit an illusion also?
Shaking his head, Usawoti turns back towards Torsten, "The bridge is an Illusion." Walking along the edge for a moment, "If the bridge is an illusion where did the goblin go?"
Shaking his head he pointed at the southern part of the cliff, "It looks like about fifteen foot, nearest the wall. We should be able to jump that."
Pacing back into the cave, Usawoti turns and begins to run towards the cliff near the wall, launching into the air to the other side.
taking 10(21) on acrobatics should put him at 21 ft. Just waiting to make sure TBD confirms.

Torsten took a small run and then leapt over the pit. Landing on the other side, he muttered "This is why nobody should skip leg day."
Your Benevolent Dictator |
The pit is 60ft deep, strewn with sharp rocks, and very real.
The arched ceiling of this vast, crescent-shaped, cathedral-like cavern rises to a height of nearly forty feet, supported by four natural stone columns. These columns are caked with glowing blue swaths of brain-shaped fungi, while a larger section of the stuff grows along the curved wall to the north and east. A total of nine dark openings near the ceiling to the south and west can be reached only by climbing or flight. To the southeast, eight stone benches face a single pulpit that stands before a flight of stairs. The stairs lead up to a worked stone facade that bears a looming carving of an immense mantis, its arms arrayed downward like an archway over a set of double doors.
You can move yourselves as desired, but Torsten's lifesense will *ping* if you advance more than 15ft.
Usawoti |
Are we crossing 'brain shaped fungi to get into the room? I assume the alcoves with beds are on the ground floor since there are seven of them instead of nine.
Moving along the western wall, Usawoti stops at the first pillar. Gesturing towards the immense mantis, asking Torsten, "Do you think that has anything to do with warriors in red we've been fighting?"
knowledge (divine): 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (10) + 8 = 18
Usawoti |
As he peered past the column looking for the goblin, Usawoti grunted, "That is clearly Achaekek, god of the Red Mantis assassins, how do you want to proceed?"
Torsten Runeforger |
"Same as always. Cautiously, and with violence in mind. We-stop." He said, his face a mask of seriousness. They had only gone forward fifteen feet. "Something's there." He said, his voice lowering.

Wasn't sure if I should wait for the number or not.
Hearing something was 'there' Usawoti tightened the grip on is hammer. "Since the goblin ran ahead, I doubt if we're going to surprise them, would a sphere of darkness, at least help hide our location?"
Torsten Runeforger |
”Aye. We get right up there, drop it and go in. It would be rude to not introduce ourselves.” He replied.
Usawoti |
Nodding Usawoti called on the darkness to engulf him. Moving forward into the cave.
Standard, spent a spell point for darkness, moved 30 ft, we have 11 minutes of 35 ft of darkness centered on Usawoti

On the map Torsten is really far back. Is he next to Usawoti and thus in the effect, or is he back there, out of it, but a turn or two away anyways?

Unable to do anything, Torsten felt a barrage of blades stab into him. Luckily, his skin was as hard as steel, given his tattoos. But all that did was save him from dying immediately. There was a change that he would survive long enough to shake off the harmful effects which had left him so defenseless. A chance...
They only need to do 57 damage to take Torsten into negatives. 75 points to outright kill him. With 6 attacks coming at him, and an 18 needed to hit, then he will likely survive. But it isn't guaranteed

Finally free, he reached out at one of the assassins, who had just buried his dagger into Torsten's side. He caught the assassin by the throat. The foe's surprise gave way to momentary pain, and then darkness, as the dwarf literally ripped the man's throat out. Not slowing down, he went straight for the next assassin, lashing out with reckless abandon. Even as he pummeled the second assassin, he willed what was left of his magic to flow through his body, healing the most life-threatening of his wounds.

In doing so, Torsten managed to get in an exceedingly solid blow. This was a dwarf who had, with his bare hands, destroyed a monolithic slab of stone which had been thought to be unmovable. What would such a blow do against a human's body? The assassin found out

If he did that much damage I'll assume the feint worked and he has martial focus again.
Feeling his hammer make contact with the large bugs exoskeleton, Usawoti attempts a similar attack again. Feinting at the immense centipede head with the hammer, he arches it back around at the things body, then attacks with the Klar as well.

How many rounds will he be able to take before something happens? If we make it to the end of the six rounds:
Putting his wand away, Usawoti, turns towards Torsten, [smaller]"That was much closer than I like, let me cast a blessing on you, so I may aid you quicker if such a thing happens again." Channeling energy he places a blessing on the dwarf, then nodding his head, he gestures toward the doorway.

"Right. Let's go say hello to whatever is there. Just...be ready to avert ye eyes if it be more of those insects." He said, with a touch of apprehension in his voice.

Nodding as Torsten tells him to avert his eyes, Usawoti moves towards the doors on the eastern side of the room. As he stops at the steps, he inspects the step, then the doors, asking his companion, "Do you feel anyone else?"

Apologies for the delay: I was at an after-work social and didn't get home until past my bedtime.

Six stone pillars support the roof of this T-shaped chamber. The walls are decorated with incredibly detailed paintings of immense mantis-like monsters destroying towns with various forms of architecture. Strangely, the scenes constantly evolve, playing out an eternal scene of slaughter. The most impressive feature in the chamber is a towering stone statue of a four-armed mantis to the west.
Standing (20ft) in the air in front of the altar is an aasimar wearing crimson armor.
