Djorn

"I'm pretty sure what we're looking for is that," Djorn says, joining the conversation and pointing a finger past her at the golem.
"It was stolen from a fri...acquaintance of ours and he wants it back."
| GM Watery Soup |
"Oh, this?" she nods at the wax golem. "A beautiful piece of craftsmanship. It lives, you know. It thinks it is a Linnorm King." She snaps her fingers at it, but it doesn't respond. "It may be a little tired of my antics," she admits.
"I'll tell you what, I'd usually settle for no less than two, but if it has indeed been stolen, I'd be happy to sell it to you at cost ... just one."
Bluff: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (15) + 15 = 30
The character that accepts this offer will receive a special boon on their Chronicle that will not allow your character to be resurrected on death, and your character's eternal soul becomes the property of Valryss.
Arin Qualnoh
|
Arin doesn't ponder this offer for very long.
As it is, I know not which divine or planar being meddles in my life, bestowing these powers and burdening me with a curse. I shall keep my soul where it is.
Aiden Richter
|
"I think my soul is quite valuable, and I would prefer to hang on to it. It could be quite useful for other things. If this is indeed the stolen item, though, keeping it could cause you a great deal of trouble. You could rid yourself of it and avoid any further incidents." Aiden explains.
Diplomacy: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (16) + 7 = 23
Djorn
|
"Yeah...no...no soul trading. There has to be something else we could offer or get that you could then trade for a soul. I mean, you're selling that so there must be other things you're interested in selling," Djorn says, just in case anyone was looking at him to make the deal.
| GM Watery Soup |
"If this is indeed the stolen item, though, keeping it could cause you a great deal of trouble. You could rid yourself of it and avoid any further incidents." Aiden explains.
This possibility is explicitly described in the scenario, so I'll describe it OOC. You'll need to make a series of skill checks. The first is Bluff (you don't actually know of any trouble that is about to befall), and I'll accept your die roll of (16) for a 22 total (pre-aiding). Anyone who wants to Aid may do so now.
"There has to be something else we could offer or get that you could then trade for a soul.
Unless you object, I'm going to put this on hold until after Aiden's line of reasoning has been resolved. I'll work them concurrently if you insist.
| GM Watery Soup |
Hint hint hint anyone who wants to Aid should do it now hint hint hint ;)
| GM Watery Soup |
"Who would come after me? Why should I fear them?"
Please make two separate checks, one Diplomacy and one Intimidate.
Drusilla the Spear-Maiden
|
Diplomacy: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (13) + 6 = 19
Intimidate: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (14) + 5 = 19
Not bad rolls. If anyone rolls over 20, lets take these as aid another. If no one rolls over 20, that should be our base
Listen, we can help each other. People are seeking what you are currently owning. The item is too hot. So we can buy it from you, at a reasonable price, not including souls, and bring it back to its former place, and no one would bother you. The risks will be on our heads
Patros Therinor
|
There are more powerful agents that the Society at their disposal. My older brother Mykel, for one. And he's not even the strongest. It would behoove you to co-operate. Your choice...we can negotiate, albeit without trading a soul. Or we can do it some other way. Either is fine by me, really...intimidate: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (15) + 9 = 24diplomacy: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (1) + 10 = 11

Back!
Diplomacy: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (18) + 5 = 23
Intimidate: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (16) + 5 = 21
Arin gets a vacant look, and stoically makes a mysterious, ominous statement.
Besides, these souls are troubled. So troubled. More than it's worth for you, believe us.
Aiden Richter
|
Intimidate: 1d20 + 17 ⇒ (6) + 17 = 23
Diplomacy: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (19) + 7 = 26
Aiden steps a bit closer to the hag. "You're messing with forces far greater than yourself. If those who rightfully own the golem decide to take it back by force, it could erupt into a war this little city hasn't seen in hundreds of years. Do you think the Onyx Alliance would protect you? I think they'd be too busy defending themselves." He gives her a grim smile.
| GM Watery Soup |
"Fine, fine. He wasn't worth the trouble, anyway."
She snaps her fingers at him.
"Stop pretending to be inanimate and get the Heaven out of here!
The wax golem blinks and rumbles forward, following the group. As soon as out of line of sight, it smirks and opens its hand - it has stolen a martyr's tear from Valryss's stall.
"Thank you for saving me," it declares. "Let's go find some linnorms to fight!"
Patros Therinor
|
Patros grins as the golem shows off his new trinket.
I'm Patros...I think we're gonna get along fine... he says with a laugh and a pat on the shoulder.
And linnorms, you say? My Brother Mykel went up north and fought some of them. Hardy warriors...but can be defeated with tact and skill...as he said, anyways...
Djorn
|
Djorn is relieved when they get the golem without a fight. Night hags seemed like the sort that wouldn't necessarily help one of their own out. But they also seemed like the sort that would just to get the one they helped under their thumb and there were an awful lot of people in the market that could have come running.
He's more than a little nonplussed as the golem not only shows that its devious but also speaks.
"Uh...yeah...linnorms to fight..." he says before shaking his head.
"So that's two down, two to go," he continues to the party.
| GM Watery Soup |
I'm guessing, we can't use this to fight for us either?
You can - there are stats - but the wax golem is very valuable, and if it's destroyed, Hamaria Blakros may not, um, consider you to have completed all your objectives. :)
"Do you remember anything about those who took you from the Blackros Museum?"
"Nobody took me ... I was exploring the museum and I accidentally activated the shadow obelisk."
Arin Qualnoh
|
Glad that they've recovered the golem, Arin takes note of its enthusiasm.
Hmm... it's a little too ready to fight. I might need to keep an eye on it, and focus protection spells on it.
Accidentally? I wonder how often it happens then. Do you remember how?
Nali Faina
|
Nali detaches from the shadow as the group leaves. "Venture-captain first, then storehouse?" she asks as she slips back among the others.
| GM Watery Soup |
Do you remember how?
The golem shrugs silently.
"Venture-captain first, then storehouse?"
Three votes will move the party, although I would also like an explicit consensus on what you will do with the wax golem so I can prep an icon for him, etc., if he's coming with you.
Arin Qualnoh
|
Arin agrees with Nali. Yes, let's secure this golem with Drang. We'll be able to more freely pursue the third relic with the first two out of our hair.
Djorn
|
"We have an important favor to ask of you, sir," Djorn says to the golem, figuring it will be easier to get it to do what they want if he feeds its delusion.
"One of our leaders is here and we can't protect him because we have an important mission to perform. We humbly beseech you to watch over him while we are away."
Take him back to Drang, is my vote.
| GM Watery Soup |
Any character that has played #2-11 or #5-23 should know what a shadow obelisk is. It's a small token (shape can vary) that activates a portal to the Shadow Plane. Characters from #2-11 saw one on top of the pyramid; characters from #5-23 recovered one from the BBE at the end.
The Pathfinders bring the golem to Dreng, but the golem doesn't want to leave.
"We must find linnorms and slay them! Do not fear, my friends, I will protect you! I am the Farstad, Linnorm King!"
DC 20 Diplomacy or DC 15 Bluff to convince the golem to stay with Dreng.
Patros Therinor
|
Tell you what...you stay with our boss and protect him...and then you and I can get a bunch of others together and go bash on some linnorms...what do you say? Deal? Patros says as he holds out his hand.
bluff: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (20) + 7 = 27
| GM Watery Soup |
"Deal!"
The wax golem shakes Patros's hand.

Wightir House is an imposing, gothic-style building. It was once intrinsically connected with the Blakros Museum and shares the museum’s old architecture. Characters who have played #0-05 (Mists of Mwangi) or #2-11 (Penumbral Accords) can feel free to take advantage of prior knowledge.
The interior of Wightir house is dimly lit with 20-foot-tall ceilings. Those without LLV or DV should consider their light sources. When the Pathfinders arrive, its double doors are wide open.
Great pillars of hewn black stone support the vaulted ceiling of this building’s grand entryway, visible through its wide, double doors. Braziers mounted on the pillars cast dull blue light from their flickering flames. Two decrepit taxidermy dinosaurs stand vigil in the northern corners of the chamber, their forms tattered and broken in several places. A ten-foot-wide hall extends past the two sentinels, with two doors near this chamber and one far at the opposite end.

"I've been to this place enough times to know THOSE are going to animate," Djorn says, when he sees the stuffed dinosaurs.
To that end, he activates the light function on his wayfinder and pulls out a javelin and dart in preparation for what he's sure is coming.
Drusilla the Spear-Maiden

It was relatively easy so far. Why can't a mission be easy till the end?
Dru chuckles
I don't truly know what these beast are, or were, but I think someone should have stopped the bottle before creating them. Why can't they be fluffy, innocent, defenseless rabbits?

Uh, how big are these bunnies?
Aiden's eyes start to adjust to the darkness, then he blinks as Djorn's wayfinder lights up. The Chelaxian nods and activates his own. "I think if we're in here, any ruse is probably over." He pulls out a wand and tries to activate it again. Then he puts it back in his pack.

Nali stares at the taxidermy with a healthy level of paranoia. She studies both of them for a moment before saying, "If trap, who triggers? Have to get by anyway."
Studying both of them before seeing what I know.

Lol, that bluff role and you could've said linnorms are planning to get Dreng :)
Despite having LLV... Arin casts Light on himself on the way into the building.
He eyes the bunny sentinels along with Nali.
It sure seems like those might be ready to guard passage through there...
He mutters a couple of prayers to himself as he thinks of what they might be, and looks for any triggers on them.

Were we waiting for everyone to get placed on the map before the trirabitops come to life or do we need to move forward to trigger them? This inspires me to write an adventure with statues and dummies everywhere and none of them come to life.
