GM Hawthwile |
First off, thank you all for being willing to come on an adventure with me! Now, to business.
Expectations
- I will post every day. I hope everyone can post every weekday and at least once over the weekend, but stuff happens - which leads me to:
- I will bot you if we haven't heard from you in 24 hours. Please include botting instructions in your character profile, or I will have to get creative in the most entertaining (for me) way possible. Please also let me know if you are expecting an extended period of absence so I can PM you and preemptively hash out major decision points to keep the story moving. On a related note:
- I will make "reactive" rolls to keep the story moving along. If you want to make a roll as part of an action/decision/etc, please do so. I might modify the skill used or add circumstantial bonuses/penalties based on circumstances. Which brings me to my final point:
- I will happily add circumstantial bonuses (or penalties) for roleplaying. I hope, for example, that you will accompany your diplomacy check with what your character is actually saying. It makes it so much easier for me to respond if you give me material, and we make such a more fulfilling and exciting story together.
If you're worried or concerned about any of these expectations, or about anything related to this game, post it here or PM me. We can figure something out so you have a good time.
In addition to making “reactive” rolls for characters, I also like to roll Knowledge checks for players so we don't have to wait for a back-and-forth between player and GM. To that end, I tailor what a character might remember about a creature. (For example, a fighter will probably care more about a golem’s DR while a wizard would remember that it’s immune to spells and an alchemist is super excited that it blows up when it dies.) Let me know what your character is most concerned about with an opponent - otherwise, I'll use my best judgement. If this will be a problem for you, let me know (either here or via PM) and we’ll work something out.
We’ll be using block initiative during encounters. Actions will be resolved in the order that they were posted in. While this can do some weird things with a single character acting "twice" before another, it is easier for both players and GM to track the sequence of events this way. I highly encourage tactics such as:
McSwordFace waits until her friend Blessings Galore has a chance to cast a buff before she attacks the horrible people kicking puppies.
Sword of Justice: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (20) + 5 = 25 (+ buff if applicable)
Justice damage: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4 (+ buff if applicable)
Crit Confirmation: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (9) + 5 = 14 (+ buff if applicable)
Crit damage: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 8 [ooc](+ buff if applicable)
I will happily calculate the final result in these cases. This helps us work effectively as a team even if posting schedules don’t line up in a beneficial way.
If your post is entirely out of character (OOC), let’s put it here instead of in the Gameplay thread.
Now, with all that said, we've all agreed to a slow start to this campaign. I'll try to post every other day or so, but things might be slow until one of my GameDay tables finishes. If the pace is becoming problematic for you, let me know either here or via PM so we can figure out a solution.
About Me: I’ve done a bit of PFS and PbP GMing, but I am certainly not perfect. If you have ideas for how I could do something better, a disagreement with a decision, or confusion over what I’m saying, please let me know via the Discussion thread or PM.
For your first post here, please use the Reply option on the following post, delete the [quote'] tags, and fill in the provided fields. And be sure to pop over to the Gameplay thread and (re)introduce your character!

PFS Number:
Faction:
Slow Tracking? (Y/N):
Day Job (please roll now):
Special Notes/Abilities: Please replace this text with anything unusual about your character here, such as “I always deal non-lethal damage and use the Enforcer feat to demoralize as a free action” or “I ride a Huge serpent mount, but it’s got both the Narrow Frame feat and a Belt of the Weasel so it can fit through a 5-ft hallway easily.” We've done several games together, so I should have a head start on knowing what tricks your character might have up their sleeves, but the fewer surprises we have with character mechanics the smoother the gameplay will be.
Replaying: This scenario is an evergreen, which means you very well might have played it already with another character. If that's the case, note that here and send me a PM to tell me which version of the adventure you played so we can not play it again.
Lady Vulpina |
Player Name: VixieMoondew
Character Name: Lady Vulpina
PFS Number: 222176-2
Faction: Sovereign Court
Slow Tracking? (Y/N): Yes please!
Day Job (please roll now): Craft (alchemy): 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (5) + 4 = 9
Special Notes/Abilities: Since she’s got so very much Panache, she’s going to Dodging Panache or Gunslinger’s Dodge as often as possible. Her +1 Dragon Pistol is Shadowshooting and will need a DC16 Will Save for each round from anyone struck by her Dragon Pistol; anyone who makes the save takes damage as if she had rolled 1.
Replaying: New one for me!
Korum of the Silver-Eyed Wolf |
Player Name: TriShadow
Character Name: Korum of the Silver-Eyed Wolf
PFS Number: 151777-7
Faction: Sovereign Court
Slow Tracking? (Y/N): N
Day Job (please roll now): Diplomacy {Caravan Vanity}: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (18) + 9 = 27
Special Notes/Abilities: Detect Undead instead of Detect Evil. Armor is considered to have the Ghost Touch property. Just upgraded armor with the 'Deathless' property. Divine Bond allows me to add assorted weapon properties to my glaive for five (5) minutes {1/day}. Will most likely be 'KEEN'.
Replaying: I have played it, but it was years ago and I don't remember it at the moment.
Sadaf Kargar |
Thanks a lot GM!
Player Name: Noral
Character Name: Sadaf
PFS Number: 314670-17
Faction: Exchange
Slow Tracking? (Y/N): No
Day Job (please roll now): profession merchant : 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (2) + 13 = 15
Special Notes/Abilities: Sadaf is a druid who concentrates on spell casting and he has saurian animal companion.
Replaying: I have played it but never GMed it so I really do not remember the specific flexible elements.
Makras Vekker |
Player Name: Jhaeman
Character Name: Makras Vekker
PFS Number: 238544-6
Faction: Grand Lodge
Slow Tracking? (Y/N): N
Day Job (please roll now): Profession (street preacher): 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (10) + 7 = 17
Special Abilities: Nothing complicated.
Replay?: Nope, brand new to me.
Makras is now Level 4, so I'll level him up and change his tagline soon.
Lady Vulpina |
“Street Preacher,” “guy who yells really loudly about how your children are just as likely to outlive you as they are to die alone,” y’know, what’s the difference really?

The income from his Day Job checks represent the monetary value of all those rotten tomatoes hurled at him. He never has to pay for food!
Loam Yin |
I'm going to actually ask my GM about how much longer we'll be, but it shouldn't be too bad. Sorry about the wait. Here's my information in the meantime. Loam will be level 5, which I'll update to when ready.
Player Name: Crunch
Character Name: Loam Yin
PFS Number: 150618-3
Faction: Liberty's Edge
Slow Tracking? (Y/N): N
Day Job (please roll now): Craft (alchemy): 1d20 + 11 + 5 ⇒ (5) + 11 + 5 = 21
Special Notes/Abilities: Loam is a spellslinger wizard thanks to boons. Mostly this just raises the DCs of some spells by her gun's enhancement bonus, which I can also spend spells and Arcane Reservoir to raise. Her familiar can cast guidance at will and potentially soak up one of her failed Will saves each day.
Replaying: I played this when it came out, what, three years ago? Remember next to nothing about it.
Doran Therinor |
here i am...
Player Name: Paul McCrory/grimdog73
Character Name: Doran Therinor
PFS Number: 125048-12
Faction: Grand lodge
Slow Tracking? (Y/N): N

Special Notes/Abilities: typical strength slayer...but has trapfinding as well. will use Power attack often

Yay, Loam!!
As a side note, I hope you don’t mind, but a few of your characters made an appearance in my home game this weekend—specifically Korum, Torku, and Makras. I needed a group of Pathfinders whose bickering would be entertaining and fit a specific mold, and you all, Vulpina, and another she’s adventured with seemed perfect.
Hope nobody minds! (My planning got rushed to the last minute and I didn’t have time to ask permission :D)
Lady Vulpina |
For full disclosure:
Evie (Human Rogue 1) is a sailor whose ship has gone missing. She and her ragtag team of friends (Braniri, Catfolk Skald and Ador, Half-Elf Catfolk Admirer) eventually discover that it has been “borrowed” by a Pathfinder squad... minus the crew, and far too small to properly move the boat.
So they get a rough idea of the direction they were headed from the local VC and borrow a small boat. They find the Topaz Dragon pretty much immobile, just 10 minutes out of port. Vulpina is bickering with Torku and Korum while Makras yells about how drowning at sea is inconsequential to the eventual doom of all that surrounds us, while a certain gnomish aerokineticist blows wind into the one sail they managed to correctly deploy.
Evie recognizes Korum from the local Shelynite temple, so they hit it off fairly well, and when it’s pointed out that the Pathfinders’ plan is impressively stupid, Torku and Korum explain that they were outvoted and are just trying to make the best of it.
So now with enough people to crew the ship and at least two folks (including Evie’s first mate and Idris Elba lookalike, Nolan), they catch up to the pirate ship and a fight ensues in which the five Level 5-6-ish Pathfinders do a good job being impressive. It eventually comes down to a one-on-one duel between the pirate captain and Torku—
—but Vulpina shoves her way past him and accepts the duel in his place.
A quick Sense Motive from Evie reveals that both Pirate Captain and Vulpina were going to cheat their butts off, so Torku collects all three of Vulpina’s pistols and the captain realized that he’s in over his head where cheating is concerned and agrees to fight fairly.
Rapid dice rolls back and forth give Vulpina an early lead, the Captain manages a Crit and another good slice in quick succession, and then a stumbling Vulpina manages a Crit and puts her blade through his sternum. (I was legitimately concerned that Vulp might have died there tbh... but I wouldn’t have fudged it.)
Everyone sails back and the Pathfinders agree to split a bit of the reward with them—which is how the party each gets a purse of 350 coins!
Lady Vulpina |
I didn’t keep track of body counts but everyone agrees that:
-y’all are badasses
-the gnomish aerokineticist is scary (she crit twice and I made some horrifying descriptions as a result)
Lady Vulpina |
It was good! Ador’s player was initially going to be a one-off guest star but they’re planning on joining more long-term, so they’re making a Neutral Good Necromancer.
GM Hawthwile |
We have all six players checked in here, though Loam and Doran have yet to dot or post into the Gameplay thread.

That’s awesome, Vulpina! I’m honoured. Makras is now spreading ennui across myriad realities—the multiverse shudders!
Loam Yin |
Whoops, sorry about that! Haven't gotten an answer on our end time yet, which has left me a bit nervous even though this table isn't starting yet. But I'm dotted in now.
GM Hawthwile |
Alright, everyone's here so you should be good to close down the old thread TriShadow. Loam, I'm going to give some introductory material, but don't worry about not having the Chronicle sheet from your last table at this point.
Makras Vekker |
Okay, I've levelled up Makras to L4 and fixed tagline and profile link. I'm spending 4,000 gp to upgrade some armor from mwk to +2. I'm amused that, going through his Chronicles, he has bonuses to Diplomacy in Irrisen, Adoran, and Cheliax. Somehow, he's a lot more popular than one would think!
GM Hawthwile |
Alright, with Makras at lvl 4 that pushes us up to high-tier with the 4-player adjustment. I've got some flexibility with how things are set up in this scenario, so I can try to avoid the most deadly options. Is everyone okay with this?
Lady Vulpina |
I would prefer not to die! (And as one of the higher-level PCs here, I’d prefer not to feel it was my fault if one of the little ones does :P)
Waitaminute, I just looked—am I the only one at level 6???
Sadaf Kargar |
I am up for a challenge so don’t tune it down too much!
Loam Yin |
Loam is now level 5, allowed to cast 2nd-level spells and everything! I'll have her updated shortly. The module is done, just waiting on the Chronicle but that shouldn't be an issue here. Sorry for the wait!
Makras Vekker |
GM, just checking you're still with us?
Sadaf Kargar |
No worries. We said we take it slow. ;-)
Lady Vulpina |
V’s probably gonna appreciate the snark, tbh. Distracts from some rather painful memories :D which I had somewhat forgotten she had until recently
Makras Vekker |
If any of you cool cats have Level 7 or 8 PCs, I'm putting together "King Xeros of Star Azlant" over here.
Loam Yin |
That'd be the Starfinder version? I still don't have high-levels, because I played Dead Suns nearly two years ago with friends and still haven't gotten the Chronicles.
Makras Vekker |
Sorry, I misspoke--it's "King Xeros of *Old* Azlant"--the Pathfinder one that served as the inspiration for the much later Starfinder sequel. You could even play a Level 7 pre-gen if you're interested but don't have a character of the right level.
GM Hawthwile |
Sorry for the silence everyone - it’s been a heck of a summer/autumn at work. I’ll try to get us moving again this week (albeit still slowly), but in the meantime do we still have everyone on board?
Sadaf Kargar |
Don’t worry GM and take your time!!
Makras Vekker |
Present.
