Floquet keeps Max in the fight.
Benacu rimes the robot, leaving a thin layer of ice on it.
Gava manages a glancing shot.
The bot is too canny to be fooled by Eclipse but takes a solid hit from him.
And Aluradux hits it with more magical energy.
It totters for a moment then falls over backwards with a loud clang.
"Oh, excellent job Starfinders. You managed to overcome a security robot. I can see why your legend is expanding," Datch says, her tone flat and emotionless.
Just to refresh everyone about where we are.
Partial concrete walls divide this large office into several cubicle workstations. A statue in the northwest corner is the room’s most prominent feature: a brass rat crouching defensively over piles of antiquated metal coins, paper currency, and credsticks. The statue extends an empty paw, as if requesting payment.

![]() |

The halfling stays doubtful.
we should probably put something in the paw, but what? A credstick? Or more something else?

"I ain't have the faintest idea how these machines work. Anyone fancy anything about the church of Lao Shu Po?"
Perception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (4) + 6 = 10 Gava looks around the room, finding zilch.

"I ain't have the faintest idea how these machines work. Anyone fancy anything about the church of Lao Shu Po?"
"Hmm...Lao Shu Po..."
mysticism: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (10) + 4 = 14
"Nope."

"I met some Laoites on a previous mission. Didn't keep that nasty under wraps like our friend here. Let's see..."
And I rolled pretty high back then, too! But since that doesn't carry over:
Mysticism: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (6) + 8 = 14
"Sorry, I got nothing. We had a space battle right after meeting and the rest is a bit of a blur."

EbonFist |

Benacu and Aluradux both remember only that Lao Shu Po is a goddess of rats and assassins.
"Should I activate another robot so that you have something to do? It's becoming abundantly clear that your talents lie in the physical and not the mental..." Datch says.

Max grabs the apple Datch has been eating and goes over to the statue to inspect it.
Perception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (7) + 6 = 13
Assuming I didn't discover anything ...
He then puts the apple on the outstretched paw and waits to see what happens.

![]() |

lol when I read the first sentence I said in my mind that I would fake the apple to put it in the paw. And that's what Max did.

EbonFist |

"You should have tried that on the last shrine. The one that had all the food on it," Datch says, shaking her head in obvious disappointment.
She reaches up to her mouth and works something around in her cheek then pulls out a fresh, shiny new apple.
She rubs it on the front of her shirt, examines it then takes a thoughtful bite.

![]() |

Lol, yeah, I guess I didn't read close enough though. Obviously this statue doesn't want food.
Max shakes his head, somewhat embarrassed that he missed the obvious. "Well Datch, from the looks of it, you seem to have a spare of everything so I'm sure you won't mind us using your credstick for an offering," he says walking over to her and holding out his hand.

![]() |

Benacu looks as close as you've ever seen him to enraged over Datch's abundance of apples. But he's figured out that dignifying her with responses only leads to more talk, so he watches how the shrine interacts with her credstick.

EbonFist |

"Do you always rob your prisoners?" Datch says after they pull a credstick from her pocket.
"That's my apple money," she says, disappointed.
When the stick is placed in the paw, a small console appears under it.
Engineering check, please.

![]() |

"Depends on what they have," Max says matter-of-factly as he walks over to the statue.
Engineering: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (5) + 7 = 12
"Someone else want to take a look at this? I'm not sure what it's for," Max says to the others after looking at the console, not sure what it controls. He shrugs at Aluradux's question.

![]() |

Let’s me have a try.
The halfling isn’t so confident but he knows something in the subject engineering.
Engineering: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (5) + 5 = 10

EbonFist |

Aluradux and Max find it surprisingly easy to open up the doors once the console is revealed though Floquet tries to insert tab B into slot A.
"Success! Good to see the Starfinders teach rudimentary lock picking skills. Should be very beneficial if you ever want to rob high school lockers," Datch comments.
RED, YELLOW, and unmarked doors can now be opened. BLUE and especially PURPLE forcefields continue to block your path.
Where to now?

![]() |

Aluradux frowns then grabs Datch's apple and takes it to the first statue and places it on the offering plate in the previous room.
"Soooo...Southern secret door everyone?"

![]() |

Shouldn't we move ahead to that tapestry room or the room with the green boxes? Those were the ones closed off before solving this puzzle

![]() |

"We've still got time, I guess," Benacu replies. "And it'd rule to learn whatever we can about this place before it stops resembling one. But we'd best be quick about it regardless."

EbonFist |

"Thorough. I like that about you Starfinders," Datch comments. She looks at her chronometer. "Hopefully, it won't get us all thoroughly blown up."
They all hustle down to the southern room.
Partial concrete walls divide this large office into several cubicle workstations. A statue in the southwest corner is the room’s most prominent feature: a brass rat holding a curved dagger in its teeth. The statue is speckled with dried blood. You guys had all moved into the Southern Corridor before combat broke out so Benacu, you can revise your action. Gava, I moved you and your mount into a viable position (your mount is squeezing.) Aluradux, you're good where you are and with the action taken. Max, you can begin your turn anywhere in the southern corridor.
