The Story So Far

Each of your comm devices begins going off all throughout the day as First Seeker Luwazi Elsebo’s voice breaks the silence. “Starfinders, if you’re receiving this transmission, I’m requesting that you cease your current missions and return to Absalom Station at once. I have obtained urgent information regarding one of our foe’s activities. If she succeeds, she could tip the balance of corporate power within the Pact Worlds and possibly even destroy the Society. I’ll explain once we convene at the Lorespire Complex.”

Table GM’s please begin the Introduction Phase

Gava turns off his comm unit, lights up a cigar, picks up his favorite saddle, and starts making for the door of the barn. Outside, the sun shines over dozens of shotalashus and other castrovelian beasts, being trained by several ysoki. “Here we go. Again.”, he smiles, while his usual mount instinctively approaches.

"This should be interesting." Eclipse mutters as he starts jogging towards the lifts leading to the Lorespire Complex.

At the front desk he flashes his implant and introduces himself, "My designation is Eclipse-22, reporting on behalf of the First Seeker. Can you point me towards my group, quickly?" a halfling says not even looking at the woman.

His second-skin is pitch black with a few fluorescent green channels peeking out from underneath a black jumpsuit. He has various toolkits attached along the leg pockets.

A kalo almost entirely obscured by bulk-rate cybernetics and a fishbowl helmet enters the Lorespire Complex. What little that can be seen of him looks to be rotting slightly, suspended in water. "Benacu of the Manta Corps, checking in! Where am I going? I don't know what's up at the moment."

Ruby Phoenix Tournament Games I've Played (Session Tracker)

The Lorespire Complex’s familiar grounds are in a boisterous state of flux. Hired workers set up pavilions and booths on the lawns, courier vehicles dart back and forth down the adjacent streets, and janitors hustle to prepare rooms for occupation throughout the compound’s buildings. Dozens of early guests loiter nearby chatting excitedly. The festive, yet chaotic, atmosphere persists in stark contrast to the First Seeker’s ominous announcement.
A lashunta man, Venture-Captain Arvin, strides forward to intercept the newest arrivals. “Welcome back, Starfinders. First Seeker Elsebo plans to meet with the agents involved in her operation shortly. She’ll announce when she’s ready—listen for the code phrase ‘pest control.’ It looks like Luwazi is finally going to have us strike back at Datch, the architect of our past year of credibility woes. Regardless of our foe’s machinations, we’re hosting several weeks of conferences and parties to honor Ehu Hadif, and there’s plenty to do while you wait. Let’s get you checked in, shall we?”

This is a good spot for Introductions, purchases, slot boons as well as preparing the fleet. While preparing the Fleet you will be roleplaying relevant skill checks as well as sharing stories of past adventures. For stories shared you must have the chronicle to back it up.

You can help prepare by meeting with:

  • Venture Captain Naiaj (Buffet Crisis)
  • Celita, Leader of the Dataphiles (Media Boost)
  • Radaszam, leader of the Acquisitives (Media Control)
  • Fitch, leader of the Wayfinders (Sound Check)

    Fine with starting at Arvin.

I'm well aware of some of the awful conditions that your people are forced to endure as I have recently witnessed them firsthand. I've been trying to get Daddy to set up some sort of charitable foundation for Absalom Station's halflings. We should probably speak in common though from now on so as not to alienate our friend the kalo."

Hey there, folks! Let’s get to work, shall we? There’s plenty to go around!

My +9 to piloting will probably be of help with “Zigvigix, Leader of the Exo-Guardians (Valet Pileup)”, and perhaps my +11 to profession (herbalist) and survival might help with “Venture Captain Naiaj (Buffet Crisis)”

Is there a “relevant skill to each NPC” list available?

Ruby Phoenix Tournament Games I've Played (Session Tracker)

To speed things along, I'm throwing all the missions up in this post. Each player can make one skill check or aid check for each mission. Go ahead and do them all in your next posts.

    Buffet Crisis
Venture-Captain Naiaj leans despondently against the wall outside the cafeteria. Workers clad in white chef smocks hurry past carrying a covered tray, which Naiaj eyes longingly. She turns to the group and snaps, “Have you ever been so hungry you got angry? I came here to get my snack on and found the caterers in a panic. They don’t have enough food prepared to handle the guest list, and they’re struggling to accommodate some attendees’ unique dietary needs. I’d hate to see our new First Seeker’s big day spoiled by an empty buffet line. Get in there, and see what you can do to help. Look alive, Starfinders!”

Relevant skills Acrobatics, Life Science, or Profession (chef)

    Media Boost
You meet with Celita, leader of the Dataphiles, in the Archive’s Cortex. “Our esteemed colleague’s elevation to First Seeker is a historic occasion. As such, we must all do our part to foster a celebratory atmosphere—not only to honor Ehu’s nomination but to conceal Luwazi’s activities. Your help with creating a positive buzz across the infosphere would be greatly appreciated.”

Relevant Skills Computers, Culture, or Profession (any Charisma-based)

    Media Control
Radaszam, leader of the Acquisitives, alerts you to a potential security breach on the Lorespire Complex’s front lawn, where a group crowds the main walkway, hoisting signs with anti-Society slogans. “Looks like these people bought in to Datch’s propaganda,” Radaszam grumbles. “They’ve been here all day. We’re not going to make them disperse—please talk with them and work out a peaceful resolution.”

Relevant Skills Bluff, Diplomacy, or Intimidate

    Sound Check
Inside the Hall of Discovery, ysoki scuttle about setting up audiovisual equipment while a kindly voice directs them. Fitch, leader of the Wayfinders, waves to you from atop a towering scaffold. “Good to see you! The kiddos and I are sprucing the place up for the big event.” She stops and beams proudly at a scrawny, gray ysoki fiddling with a circuit board. “They’re doing great, but it’s a big job. Mind lending us a hand?”

Relevant Skills Computers, Engineering, or Profession (electrician)

    Valet PileUp
Relevant Skills Engineering, Piloting, Survival TASK DETAILS Zigvigix, leader of the Exo-Guardians, chats animatedly with one of the hired event staff, a stocky, brown ysoki dressed in stained coveralls embroidered with the name “Tall Sam.” The two avidly discuss a cluster of haphazardly parked land vehicles. “Hey, you!” The ysoki shouts at you as you approach, “Why are you just standing around, huh? We’ve got a pileup worse than A-Station rush hour over here. Get off your tails, and go park some vehicles!” Zigvigix nods enthusiastically and adds, “Relieving the valet queue might help our fellow Starfinders get to Luwazi’s meeting. Please do whatever you can to help!”

    VIP Roundup
Relevant Skills Athletics, Diplomacy, or Perception You encounter Venture-Captain Arvin pacing in front of the building’s entrance, clearly overwhelmed by a list of familiar names on his datapad. “Sparklemane and associated weapon permits unaccounted for. Zo!—shuttle delayed. Envar Tam—oh, this is ridiculous.” Arvin relaxes when he notices you. “As you know, we’re expecting an influx of visitors over the next few weeks. Some decided to arrive fashionably early, and we seem to have misplaced a few guests of honor in the confusion. If you can help me locate and corral our more elusive guests, I’d be grateful.”

"Looks as if we're breaking up for a bit, but let's all meet here again when they call us back, yes?" With that, the kalo slouches off, ready to work.

    Buffet Crisis, Life Science: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (13) + 8 = 21

He then looks to contact some friends in the hope they can spread the word of Ehu's elevation. But he isn't too worried, considering how many influencers seem to be on his team.

The group of Starfinders focus on the "Cooperate!" portion of their motto and throw their effort into assisting getting everything ready for the big event.

Several of them step in as cater waiters and adroitly maneuver through the crowd to deliver food while Aluradax and Benacu use their knowledge to make some delicious and nutritious dishes for the variety of attendees.

Then, they get to work getting out the good word. Most of them prove that they're not great twooters but Aluradax and Floquet manage to send out impressive messages that get a ton of circle snaps.

Following that, they go out to deal with the protesters. Again, Aluradax and Floquet take the lead with Gava jumping in. Soon enough, only a few of them are shouting about how the Starfinder Society is in league with the devils.

Then it's off to help with the sound system. Most of the group have little luck in helping out but Aluradax and Eclipse-22 come through with the skillz.

Making their way to the parking lot, the group tries to help out with the vehicular mess. Eclipse-22 and Gava prove the champions here, managing to find just a couple more spots and making it look easy.

Finally, it's off to wrangle people who are too important to get lost and too important to ensure that they know where they're supposed to be. Benacu manages to get a "Hey there, Buddy!" and the double gun finger point from Zo! for his help while Aluradax learns that Friendship truly is Magic but personal distance is important from Sparklemane.

"I guess we can't complain too much. They did call us here for a mission, so we're not guests being roped into fixing everything up. But where are the best planners when you need them?"

A chime sounds throughout the Lorespire Complex and its surrounding grounds, followed by a broadcast of First Seeker Luwazi Elsebo’s resonant voice: “Pest-control workers, your presence is kindly requested in the Hall of Discovery.” Spurred by the announcement, junior and experience Starfinders file into the Forum’s meeting space.

As the last of the summoned Starfinders enter the meeting space, Luwazi stands atop a stage at the centre of the hall. Radaszam and Zigvigix position themselves behind the First Seeker, warily surveying the crowd. When the doors shut behind the final Starfinder team, Radaszam steps forward and whispers in Luwazi’s ear. She nods as he offers her a microphone.

“Thanks to your courage and resilience, Starfinders, we have overcome adversity time and again. Two years ago, we embarked on a mission to rescue our lost agents from the Scoured Stars. Last year, we returned to battle the jinsuls and won. Today, I stand before you for the last time as your First Seeker and invite you to accept a very different challenge.

“I trust you are all familiar with the individual called Datch. For the past year, Datch orchestrated a slanderous media war against the Society for reasons incomprehensible to us. We’ve recently learned more about our enemy and realized that the Society is not her only target. As a member of AbadarCorp’s security department, Datch used her connections to manufacture a media smear campaign against us. She did so to gain power within the corporation, and her next target is Executive Archdirector and CEO Iseki-Okaibo. Yesterday, Datch instigated a vote of no-confidence against him. If the motion passes, Datch stands to take advantage of that power vacuum.”

Luwazi frowns at the assembled Starfinders. “We cannot let that happen. We can’t directly challenge Datch—not yet. If we’re going to stop her, we must beat her at her own game. While Datch positions herself to seize power, I plan to use Ehu Hadif’s elevation and the presence of our most veteran agents at the elevation event as a cover to send you on covert missions throughout the Pact Worlds. The missions vary, but your primary goals are to disrupt Datch’s ongoing activities and convince AbadarCorp executives not to support the vote of no-confidence. I’m counting on you, Starfinders.”

Encouraged by the First Seeker’s words, the chosen Starfinder teams prepare to depart the Lorespire Complex for various destinations across the Pact Worlds. Society leaders direct smaller groups of agents into specialized briefings, where they present information about each covert operation. After a year of enduring Datch’s merciless attacks against their organization, the Starfinders finally have the chance to retaliate.

As a general din fills the chamber, the Starfinders scatter. There are several important members of the society handing out missions, either talking to teams already or clearly seeking out agents for the tasks they have at hand.

    2-External Audit - Radaszam - Starship Combat
    3-Universal Healthcare - Monsylkis - Science/Combat

So it has been written...so it shall be done...

Venture-Captain Arvin marches down a corridor leading out of the Lorespire Complex several steps ahead of his companions. He pauses as the exit door slides open, and he blinks in the bright lights of the camera crews amassing in preparation for the upcoming gala. He turns and says, “What I’m asking you to do is frankly a bit sordid, and I wish I had a more honest mission to give you.” Arvin produces a datapad. “AbadarCorp’s board is composed mostly of department archdirectors. It’s an exclusive club of less than a dozen individuals, and even one of their votes could sway the outcome. Your target is Archdirector of Finance Denanne Karrsi.” Arvin taps his datapad, and an image of an imposing elven woman with silver hair and a glowering expression appears.

“Denanne is an avid gambler. She’s booked a suite at the Luxx solar casino. If you can defeat her at her game of choice you may be able to influence her. Check in to Luxx as patrons, challenge her to a game, and then use any leverage you can to persuade her to oppose Datch’s vote.”

Luxx, is a colossal starliner locked in to the Sun’s orbit, is renowned as a premier solar casino. Its twin hangar bays provide docking for communal transport shuttles alongside space for private VIP craft. Since you aren’t on the VIP list, you arrive on a shuttle alongside a throng of patrons from all corners of the galaxy, many of them chattering loudly and excitedly, others ready to tell you their fool proof way of beating the house, still others muttering their foolproof schemes to themselves and looking at you suspiciously as though you want to steal the idea.

A series of escalators and cylindrical glass lifts transport the Starfinders wherever they want to go inside the casino-ship.

In my experience, splitting up just reduces the chances of success - the person with the right skill won't be there, or he won't have aid another from his mates - and it justs tends to be a PitA for the GM, who has to control 3 or 4 scenes at once. This is not a search mission, we already know the gambling addict will be gambling - we can either try to gather some leverage before going against her, or just go straight to the gamble and hope it goes well. These missions tend to be very short and straightforward, since we have a bunch of them to complete.

A korasha lashunta woman is working at the concierge desk. She boredly points the way for one group of guests then looks at the Starfinders.

”Oh good, more noobies. Just what I wanted today, to explain our policies for the millionth time,” she says as you approach. She gives a sigh that seems to start somewhere around her toes.

She begins in a droning tone, ”Luxx takes no responsibility for any items lost or stolen while guests are on Luxx property. Please refrain from spitting, urinating or any other voluntary expulsion of bodily fluids or solids. Sneezing and coughing or the equivalent in your species is allowed but please do so into the crook of your elbow or the equivalent area of the equivalent appendage for your species.

”No excessive public displays of affection. While Luxx cannot possibly define what ‘affection’ means for the myriad species that visit Luxx, we reserve the right to expel any guests who engage in lewd conduct. When in doubt, leave room for Desna’s blessing between you and any of your fellow patrons.

”Any attempt to alter, damage or cheat any of Luxx’s equipment will result in a freeze of all winnings, expulsion from the casino and, if appropriate, aggressive legal repercussions.”

She hands Floquet a data drive. ”Here are 50 complimentary Luxx Bucks, our gift to you to thank you for providing us your business and allowing us to fulfill your gambling needs.” Her tone never changes throughout her speech.

“You need Luxx Bucks to play the games. You can add funds to your account at any of the kiosks—not that you look like you can afford it. The rate is one credit to one Luxx Buck. Try starting in the Nova Room—it’s easier for first-timers. Most shuttle riders disappear when they run out of complimentary tokens.”

”Once again, thank you for visiting Luxx. We are thrilled to have you hear. Next!”

Nova Room: This dimly lit room is packed with patrons stooped over automated gambling stations. Flickering slot machines line the walls surrounding a token kiosk. Inside the booth, a male halfling stands on a stool converting credits into the casino’s currency.

”Sorry, this isn’t the information desk. I don’t have time to talk to any non-paying customers. Now, if you needed to purchase some credits…”

”Luxx thanks you for your patronage,” he says with a grin. ”I don’t know if she’s there, but Denanne’s got a private booth in the Refraction Lounge.”

Refraction Lounge: Plush furniture and shag carpets adorn this oval chamber. When you enter, the entire room is decorated in shades of purple, but within seconds after you enter everything shifts to shades of blue - not the lighting but the actual objects, walls, decorations, tables chairs- change colors.

Asking around, Juta is pointed out to you. A male verthani whose skin changes hues to match the décor, he lounges on a settee blowing candy-scented vapor rings.

He speaks in a languid voice and has a mellow disposition. ”Greetings, fellow travellers. A starry day, isn’t it? Does Desna smile you’re way?”

    The Grand Casino Floor:

Three sets of white marble stairs cascade down to a spacious marble floor. To the north, a bar lit by fuchsia and indigo neon serves drinks to glamorous clients. Besuited waiters dart through crowds of patrons milling about card tables, roulette wheels, and other game stations. Guests lounge beside a sparkling pool set ridiculously into the middle of the casino floor. At the center of the room, a host shirren seated at a grand piano plays a jazzy tune.

An audience gathers around a long, rectangular gaming table to the south as a showdown unfolds between two individuals. The woman you discover is Denanne Karrsi smirks as she executes her final play against her opponent. The hapless shobhad groans as Denanne flips over the winning card.

Denanne wears an exquisitely cut gown of canary-yellow silk, long black gloves, a wide-brimmed velvet hat, and multicolored jewels. Vibrant geometric tattoos peek from beneath her mane of silver hair, and her violet eyes seem to glow with intensity. As the PCs approach, Denanne sighs and sips wine from a crystal glass.

“I told you to invest your money instead of challenging me!” She scolds her opponent. “Now you’re all out of funds. How boring. Who’s next?” She casts her eyes around the crowd for a moment before her gaze lands on you.
