18 CHA and 18 Beauty definitly got my creative juices flowing.

Alaria is a Kellid Paladin of Arqueros, empyreal lord of bodyguards. She has several chips on her shoulder, one being Kellid-Mendevian tensions (unlike most Paladins, she prefers the axes of her ancestors to longswords associated with Iomedae), one being her ridiculously good looks which made too many things fall into her lap, including her position as a Paladin, as well as her "best kill" so far, an Incubus who unwisely lowered his trousers while she was still fully armed.

She thus has a bit of "impostor syndrome" and is uncharacteristically toungetied around the truely virtuous.

Possible tie ins:
Reknar would probably resent the all too pretty Alaria, no hard as nails seargent ever liked the people on recruitment posters, in any army, ever.

Both being Paladins, they probably had a run in. Alaria may to a degree remind Tai of his elder sibling, although Ameiko is probably far more self confident.

Alaria would probably be timid around Maleena due to her imposter syndrome.

She would get along pretty well with Jasaka, both are Kellid, and Alaria is quite fond of drinking songs.

Crunch is mostly complete as well.

I'm also considering VMC Rogue which would give my Paladin Trapfinding and make him very different than most common Paladins. I'd definitely take Trickster path anyway.

Hmm trapfinding Paladin? Sounds cool!

Mechanical sperging:

Trap finding typically requires 3 skills, stealth, disable device and perception, the main issue is that Paladins dont have any of these in their class list, and only have 2 skill points + int per level but....

We have 3 traits! And 2 extra skill points, and you get one extra class skill!

While there are many traits that give perception, 3 of them are campaign specific, 2 of them are specific to races Tai cannot be reflavored into and one would make him a native of the Valashmai jungle, and I dont even know where that is.

However, If you are Abadarian, Eyes and Ears of the City (Abadar) is a religious trait that gives you perception as a class skill and a +1 trait bonus to it on top of it.

Highlander can be fitted into his background, as getting acclimatized quickly to the quite mountaineous terrain of Sarkoris, giving him Stealth.

Disable device has only 3 traits giving it as a class skill, I dont think either keen finger nimbe mind or vagabond child fit Tai, so probably use wisdom in the flesh here, and use highlander to get stealth?

Alternatively if Human, the alternative racial trait "Fae Magic" for humans swaps out skilled for 2 extra class skills, chosen from a list that includes all 3 of these skills. As such, you could take Fey magic, grab 2 of the skills, pick the missing skill with you free houserule class skill and use your traits for whatever! I would almost recommend armor expert, as it is effectively a +1 to dex skills. You also get low light vision on top.

Was Arlena's backstory enough for consideration, or are there any aspects of her character you'd like me to elaborate further?

It's fine.

Surprised we’re not seeing more full casters like wizards or sorcerers! Archmages are so fun.

I personally find the width and breadth of options to be overwhelming. Especially with mythic stuff where you have the entire effing spell lists whenever you have mythic power.

Ashivon Backstory:
The story of Ashivon begins with a party of adventurers stopping a demonic cult from completing an occult ritual. At the center of the ritual, the adventurers discovered a child. To this day, no one has been able to determine if the ritual was a process that turned a child of a different race into a tiefling, or if the child was chosen for the ritual because he was a tiefling.

One of the adventurers had once been a half-orc foundling, delivered to the faithful of Pharasma, given both place and direction in life. Though many crusaders surely would have struck down a child bearing such obvious fiendish taint, the half-orc inquisitor was able to stay the hands of her compatriots, and took the tiefling babe under her wing.

While the child, who came to be named Ashivon, had a loving home, the truth was that even his adoptive mother was not prepared for the challenge of raising him. From a young age, there would be times when fury and rage to rival the most frenzied berserker would overcome him in fits and spurts. His mother weathered these as best she could, catching glimpses of the man he might grow up to be when he was not in the throes of fury, but as he reached puberty, the violent passions within him burned too hot, and his mother finally had to admit that if he were to have hope of mastering his riotous passions rather than being mastered by his emotions, he needed nothing less than a master of discipline.

Sent to a monastery where one of his mother's former adventuring companions served as a senior instructor, Ashivon initially struggled greatly. But the tiefling was too stubborn to give up, and his mentor's will was unbreakable. Over the course of many months, he endured everything Ashivon could throw at him, and finally, finally, when Ashivon was entirely spent, the monk saw that the tiefling was a ready receptacle for his lessons.

While his training is still far from complete, Ashivon has made enough progress that his mentor has given him permission to return to Kenabres to spend Armasse with his mother, and hopefully start to show her the better man he has become since he had to leave.

Conceptually, Ashivon begins as a monk, but will, long term, take several levels of bloodrager. Ideally, I'd like him to have a chance of taking the mortal usher prestige class, but I won't have to scrap the character if that's not on the table for this campaign.

I was quite close to it but found more inspiration in the idea of a struggling knight! Plus the backstory was partially written already!

A write-up that I hope helps you envision the character the same way I do.

Gultan of the Ruckkehr

Background:

Born in Gundrun to the Ruckkehr tribe, Gultan was taught to fight from his earliest days. The Ruckkehr formed as a tribe after fleeing the Worldwound. They gathered together with the single focus of finding a way to return to their ancestral homes, going so far as to name the new tribe “Returning” in Hallit.

Most of the Sarkorian refugees who ended up in Gundrun simply accepted their new conditions as defining their new start. The Ruckkehr immortalized their suffering as the justification to do whatever is required to reclaim their homes instead of accepting their exile. A portion of the tribe is dedicated to raising, training, and outfitting the warriors who will eventually secure their way home. Many of those dedicated to training others are simply survivors of previous efforts.

Another aspect of their dedication is that the Ruckkehr are still dedicated to the Green Faith and acknowledge the Spirits in the world around them, ignoring the claims of the gods of the Southern people.

Thonta, Gultan’s mother, was both a Druid and a leatherworker. Her days were always filled, between her spiritual duties, training the young warriors, and assisting in the creation of equipment for them to take on their journeys North, back into traditional Sarkorian lands. His father, Koltok, went North before they knew Thonta was with child. He hasn’t been seen or heard from since.

One of the reasons Kellid warriors tend to be as hard as they are is that their training is never soft. As the Ruckkehr train to fight the invasion of the Worldwound, the young ones are taken into the Worldwound for exposure, to better understand the nature of the invasion, before reaching puberty. There tends to be far less trouble with training focus for years after that first trip. Some make additional trips, either by choice or to help restore their focus . . ..

When Gultan took his first trip into the Worldwound, the group was attacked by a few demons with cultist support. It seemed they killed all of the adult escorts and captured 5 of the 8 youth alive. Sometime during that night, Gultan assumes near midnight, the cultists crucified all 5 youth, tying them to crosses. Then they began some sort of ritual, with the demons dancing at the edge of the darkness around the ceremony. Gultan found himself hoping they were about to be killed, because he began having images of demons clawing their way out of the children and into the firelight. Several of the children were crying, including Gultan. At least one was screaming in fear. Light, or energy, or something began streaming from the fire into the bodies of the children. At this point, came a loud cry of “Jetzt!” Two of the original escort and another dozen of the Ruckkehr warriors appeared from the darkness. Most dealt with the demons. Three were enough to route the cultists. Two cut the children down. Of the five children, four had significant burns across their torsos, arms, necks, and faces. Gultan was the fifth, apparently unmarked by the energy.

As might be expected, this changed how the tribe treated Gultan. A few of the religious leaders said that he was blessed by the spirits. Most of the tribe was concerned that he was just as corrupted as the others, but internally, mentally, and spiritually.

He turned more to Thonta for support in his training after that trip to visit old Sarkoris. His mother wouldn’t allow herself to see him as corrupted, so he was simply more comfortable with her than with either those who saw him s blessed or those who saw him as corrupted. And so most of his training was focus on Druidic things. There are aspects of what Druids do, though, that just didn’t make much sense to him. Among other things, he was simply more martial than Druids tend to be. Gultan received some additional training from Dult and Tronk, both knowledgeable Barbarians.

When Gultan was declared ready to quest for the Ruckkehr, the Crusaders were preparing to celebrate Armasse. Everyone knows that a single warrior will not restore Sarkoris, and most of the tribe didn’t want to trust Gultan’s purity, so he headed for Kenabras and Armasse to find a group or unit to join for his attempt to reclaim home.

Personality notes:

Views crusaders as useful, but shock troops.
Knows the Crusaders see the refugee Sarkorians as pitiful barbarians, and is willing to milk it for everything he can
Knows he needs to find a group of people who can trust each other and work together, or the Worldwound will consume him
Believes in the spirits of the land, but is very afraid of how the Worldwound may have corrupted them
Believes his people belong to the land, and that they must be returned to it so they can help heal it

Build thoughts:

Shifter VMC Barbarian – First form the Big Cat (Smilodon). Second form likely to be a flyer of some sort.
Kellid Human base – will have to see if I modify much given the option

Other notes:

Hallit – I’m using an online translator and converting things to Duetsch (German). Some German words get far too long, but it provides plenty of hard consonants to match the language description
Names – No source. Just built some harsh, guttural sounds to match the naming convention description

Mechanics will be built on request/direction. Indication was that you don't want them now, so, the submission doesn't have them.

added the Chance Encounter campaign trait into the backstory.

Alright folks first I want to say thank you so much for some very interesting submissions but there were unfortunately only 3 slots open and I had to make some difficult choices. Thank you again for your interest and passion for this AP.

Those who have been chosen will receive a PM within the next 10 minutes from me and it is 2000 hrs. EST where I'm posting from.

Good luck to those lucky few!

Well, I didn't get selected!

Hope you guys manage to have fun!

Oh man, I didn't realize today was the deadline. I guess I won't finish my backstory tonight then. Alas.

I admit, I'm very sad.

Good luck to those selected!
