@GM - Just wanted to say that I appreciate and am in awe of the work you've already put into organizing relevant campaign rules, NPC cast, etc. for the game!

(Also I may have stolen borrowed your marching order slide for my own use >.>)

I stole it from GM Doug H, so that's fair. :)

You all start with 1 Hero Point.

Apologies. That was so ingrained in me now that I forgot to bring that up in the differences between PF and PF2.

You each start with 1 Hero Point. You gain Hero Points at my discretion as inspired by heroics or just good entertainment. You can hold a maximum of 3 Hero Points at any given time, so don't hoard them too long.

You spend can spend 1 Hero Point to re-roll any roll you just made. You can spend all* of your current Hero Points (need at least 1) to immediately stabilize while Dying.

*Unless they changed that in an errata, and I haven't gotten to it yet.

| Extinction | url= |

Apologies. That was longer than I wanted to go before posting.

An Aside (COVID):

I had a positive test come back on Wednesday so I'm at home on quarantine for the next several days. Currently asymptomatic and feeling fine; hopefully it'll stay that way. But in the event I *do* start feeling puny and disappear for more than a couple of days, that'll likely be why.

Not wanting to worry anyone but I feel I'd be remiss if I didn't give you guys a heads-up just in case.

Hello Everyone,

I am finally over with projectus giganticus and am starting to come out of my shell. I don't know if I am still part of this game -- if I got dropped, that is fine. I needed some downtime after the marathon run of of writing. Let me know if I can come back in, or if I should just lurk.

I had been holding off on much of anything because we'd started with an idea of Leaf and Song being siblings, and I didn't want to step 'ahead' of the action or develop things without Song.

Likewise please let me know if I can safely delurk now that the holiday season is getting close to it's 'exciting climax'!

Hugs and regards,

Wei Ji

By all means, hop on into the action. If you’re inspired to engage before I get off work and free of the children feel free to roll a Perception for initiative and if you beat 15 you can act with Nabi. Goes for Wei Ji, too.

GM Blake said:

After dealing with the immediate aftermath of the brawl (above), take a moment to reconvene and determine your final acts: Elizia or Leaf-on-the-Wind, something to replace Axel who you used already, and the Flamboni Sisters. Any of you can fill in any of these three slots. You can also try to convince the Featherfall Five to perform without a net (requires a hard Diplomacy check), which you know would provide extra Excitement.

Excitement: 9, Anticipation: 16

---

Earlier it was said:

The Circus has the following available acts at beginning of the action (plus any of your signature tricks):

Axel's Amazing Aviary (animal): Nature +7 (DC 15)
The Dwarven Throwers (team): Acrobatics +7/Athletics +10 (DC 15) Already used
Elizia and Mr. Tickles (animal): Intimidation +7/Nature +7 (DC 15)
The Flamboni Sisters (fire, injury, team): Deception +7/Fortitude Save +7 (DC 15)
The Featherfall Five (agile, team): Acrobatics +8/Athletics +6 (DC 15)
Mordaine the Magician (injury, water): Fortitude Save +8/Thievery +7 (DC 15) Already used

---

In previous discussion, we had planned:

Big Number Mordaine the Magician (I believe this just finished during the fight)
Finale 1: Elisia or Leaf-on-the-Wind
Finale 2: Axel's Amazing Aviary
Ultimate Grand Finale: Flamboni Sisters.

---

So I would say:

Finale 1: Elisia
Finale 2: Leaf-on-the-Wind

Ultimate Grand Finale: Flamboni sisters assuming someone can convince them.
Featherfall Five if the sisters don't want to.

Merry Christmas and happy holidays to you all. I expect this to be a slow glide over the holidays, but once these final acts are done, you can get on with the investigation that I'm sure you're all more interested in. :)

You can use the Flamboni Sisters without any trouble; it's the Featherfall Five who you'd need to convince to perform without a net (with a higher payout if they do perform).

If you're going to go with the path of least resistance--Elizia, Leaf-on-Wind, Flamboni Sisters--then someone to take over the rolls for the each of the NPCs.

Since Hilary has asked me and I don't know:

How dangerous would it be for the Featherfall Five to work without a net? Is someone likely to die, or is it more the performer wouldn't be able to act for a while? We don't really have enough information to decide if we should ask them to do it.

| Extinction | url= |

They would be injured and unable to perform for either the remainder of the current show and possibly the next show. So, mechanically, you risk not being able to use the Featherfall Five the next time the circus puts on a show, if you guys want to keep the circus mechanic as part of the campaign or hand waive it.

Gave Gameplay a bit of a push since I re-checked and realized that our good GM has probably been waiting for one of us to nudge things along :)

| Extinction | url= |

I figured you all were holiday-ing.

I'll give until tomorrow evening for you guys to bot an NPC performance or perform yourself in the finale, and then I'll bot the NPCs.

I would also like to canvass your feelings on using the variant rule: free archetype. You would all gain a free archetype feat at even levels. All prerequisite and access conditions would apply. Given the geographic range and time frame, I wouldn't expect the organizational archetypes to become available--certainly not by level 2. It allows you to take something like Linguist without sacrificing core class mechanics. Obviously, some could be power boosts, but I wouldn't anticipate anything too egregious.

| Extinction | url= |

Leaf-on-Wind was scheduled to perform, but if someone else (who hasn't already, i.e. Clover) wants to jump in to move us forward, that's OK.

I'm a bit confused as to how to do the routine, and not parsing it correctly -- may be overcomplicating it and causing even further writer's block (stage fright?)

Here is the description that I worked from.

I came up with an idea -- animal sculptures -- and then bounced a few ideas around on how to represent that. Eventually decided they were generally made from metal bars rather than balloons.

For mine, I chose the Prop trait with Athletics skill. The prop is the metal rod to be twisted into all sorts of shapes. Athletics seemed appropriate since it was partially a feat of strength.

Flesh it out with a little word smithing to get what is in my profile.

Trick
Metal Sculpting (Athletics, Prop): Can bend pieces of malleable metals into the shape of various creatures and items.

I'm guessing that for your character you would be looking for something that fits an aerialist.

Aerial (Acrobatics): The trick involves flight by either magical or mundane means.

Maybe it is some sort of dive into a barrel of water or even a special dive with some acrobatics where you catch a rope lower down and swing back up? Try to come up with some sort of description then we can more easily fit mechanics to the description.

Have you built your character yet? The profile is mostly empty. If you need help with that, I would be glad to offer advice.

----

If we want to keep things moving forward I can have Rulean do his trick. It is getting late here, so I would post it tomorrow.

| Extinction | url= |

Your Signature Trick is made on a trait listed in the post Rulean linked and assign a reasonable skill to it. If the skill matches the one listed beside the trait, you gain a +1 circumstance bonus.

Performing, at its simplest, it making 3 skill checks with a "multiattack penalty" (-5 on the 2nd, -10 on the third) shooting for a DC 15.

There are other actions that can be used in place of a skill check listed in the Circus Actions link in the campaign header.

And please don't be afraid to ask questions or for help! I'm sure everyone at this table is happy to help each other out. :)

So you need to make several checks to do a single trick? I’m somewhat confused by that given you take a -5 to successive checks. Seems you are just begging for a critical failure when attempting a check at -10, especially at first level.

| Extinction | url= |

No, you can perform 3 tricks (or a combination of tricks and other "actions" (listed in the Circus Actions handout).

And while you investigate Myron's death, you should discuss over here whether you want to manage the administration and/or performances of the circus through the AP or hand wave them.

I have been having trouble posting during workdays. I'd like to continue with the group, but I don't want to hold everyone back. Still, if I am slowing things down, tell me and I will drop.

I realize that part of the issue that you may have in botting Song-of-Air is that no one knows what her personality is. But what I imagine is a bold bard who throws herself into the thick of combat to help her colleagues, waving her fancy sword around. The problem is that I keep missing combats....

So I will try to post once a day no matter what (maybe get up early before work or make an effort to post on my lunch time) so that I can be that dashing, daring tengu bard instead of a scared chicken who sings but does nothing else when my friends are hurt... But if I miss that daily post, feel free to risk me and let me take hits.

I want to be part of the team.

Thanks,
Hmm
