Yeah, this has been a little hard to follow since we got a little metaphysical on what was going on. Here's my general understanding:

* The false Narvus and several other Deceivers had set up Helanthrop to seem like a super-productive hub of planar industry attractive to crafter Earth spirits, while it was actually engineered to cause friction and overwork so that the crystals produced had subtle flaws that would influence the planes they were used in.

* When we came in and started dismantling this, the Deceivers at first tried to discredit us. When that didn't work they decided it was time to cut and run, with a couple of them fighting as rearguard.

* We cut off their escape and destroyed the Deceivers most capable of fighting. This included the false Narvus, who was apparently so deeply involved in the makeup of Helanthrop that their death started to destabilize the demiplane.

* The remaining Deceivers tried to continue fomenting conflict, probably to hasten the destruction of the demiplane and give them an opening to escape. We started to work against it.

* Azzim and Terexaltherin worked with the crystal orb that Narvus had apparently used as part of the foundation of Helanthrop. Somehow this caused the conflict, and the way past it, to physically manifest as a closed door.

* Terexaltherin, being the eager little dragon that he is, guessed that the door, being a physical representation of the issues facing the demiplane, could also work the other way--that manipulating the door correctly could cause changes in Helanthrop. So he set to work on the door as if it had a particularly complex lock while encouraging the rest of the group to work directly on calming the conflict.

* Apparently messing with the metaphysical underpinnings of reality gave Terexaltherin a glimpse on what I'm guessing are our multiverse's version of the Fates, who basically said "Wait he's not supposed to do that" then "Well I suppose he can get away with it this time".

* This seems to have let him succeed in calming the problems in the demiplane, while apparently also banishing the Deceivers.

* Now we're left with a door that seems to open to a nice spot somewhere on the more Neutral Good side of the Elemental Plane of Earth, which *may* actually be the base of a great planar crossroads area.

So the question is, now what? Is this suggesting that Helanthrop be rebuilt in this new location as a Neutral Good-ish Elemental Plane of Earth version of Sigil? Is this a final distraction to get everyone out of Helanthrop while the Deceivers swoop in and take what they want?

That's my read of things.


Collective rolls for shaping Helanthrop's new form are fine. I'm thinking what they'd look like. The sum of individuals seems OK for now.

I guess the question is, do we want him to know about the whole bit with the Fates? I think that's the piece that's in question here.

I was wondering if we were going to gain a level after this, but I looked and realized we just gained a level at the end of the last mission. It just feels like it was longer because the last mission ended at the end of May/beginning of June. XD

I was thinking I'd explain a little about what I was thinking with Terex's changed horns. When he started taking Hedgewitch levels he picked up the witchmarked drawback, which means that he has an obvious physical feature that shows his magical nature--in Terexaltherin's case, the way his horns picked up a rather <Shimmer>-like iridescence. The thing with a Witchmark is that it gets more obvious as you grow more powerful, so when we started messing around with the metaphysical nature of a plane I figured it was an appropriate time to make Terex's Witchmark more obvious. :D

I'm debating if I'm going to pick some things related to it at his next level-up... I may do some just role-playing things about changes he's experiencing. I was thinking of having him dream of doing stuff in his library only to find he really did it more often, and also playing around with his connection with his library more in general.

...unrelated, I need to remember to get a lot more scrolls and stuff for Terex.


Need a bit more time to post finale..., or close-to-finale...

Hmmm, ideas:

* We return to somewhere we've been before, but the variances in rate of time mean that it's been centuries since we were there and our actions are the subject of legend or historical record.
* It turns out that a book Terexaltherin picked up for his library is actually a powerful artifact that multiple parties are trying to claim, we have to figure out what it is (it's trying to hide or is disguised for some reason) and what to do with it. (This might be fun to have going on while we're on a different mission)
* We have to work to counteract some group or groups that are trying to take advantage of some of the planes affected by the flawed crystals that got out of Helaranthrop before we arrived there.
* We start a mission only to be grabbed by the Fates partway in to do something that will help de-tangle the skein of fate to make up for making more of a mess of it.

Well I believe I have Terexaltherin leveled up. It was a pretty empty level for him in a lot of ways, just increases in skill points and HP pretty much from his class. The feat was a much bigger deal--He got Spell Dabbler feat, which means he can memorize one higher-level spell a day using his spell points. (Normally this would be restricted to spell matching the spheres he has, but given his Arcanist spellcasting would it be okay for him to also be able to pick from the Arcanist spell list? I'm picturing this as him figuring out a way to use his psionics to boost his spellcasting)

I suppose he did get Studied Combat too, but given how little we actually care about exact rolls in combat usually that's not as big a deal.

Now I just need to decide on some gear upgrades, especially new spells in his spellbook and some scrolls. Plus whatever gift from the camps he'd get.

Would Terexaltherin be able to get his circlet upgraded to do alter self for a humanoid form in addition to its current animal forms? That's what I was planning for his cover identity this time.

Rollo actually seems a bit taken back. The Arcanist absently says a few arcane words of power. Immediately Franklin is seen sitting comfortably in a plush divan. A brandy resting in his hand.
