Discussion thread- if the 6 characters could check in please.
Rin/Tenchi-- you both took Younger Sibling (obviously hence the Kaijitsu name)- you will have to work out which is older between the two of you.
Welcome everyone, and thanks for joining me on this!

Rin Kaijitsu |

Hello everyone, excited to be selected for this AP. It's been on my list for years.
@Tenchi based on our backstories I'd say you would be older than Rin. I'm also never opposed to twins. For Rin's backstory I would add in Tenchi's leaving as the actual inciting incident for Rin starting her training. Let me know what your thoughts are and we can get our backstories intertwined.

Mitsuru Hisakawa |

Thank you for having me! I would dot in, but whenever I hit the submit post button, it just shows me a preview of the post without ever actually posting it. Not sure what the reason is.

My current theory is that the forum prevents an identical post, so try adding some punctuation (or anything, really) to your post. Or at least that's worked for me so far.
Also, I've got a spreadsheet for keeping track of our caravan and the inventory we might find en route. Check it out here!

Mitsuru Hisakawa |

That did the trick, thank you! I'm going to do a deep dive into the caravan mechanics, I love that kind of stuff.

Cool beans, that will be helpful.
@Mitsuru since you've been following Shalelu around, you might also be aware of Rin's vigilante training(And Shalelu's agreement to keep the secret).

Mitsuru Hisakawa |

Sure! Does that mean Mitsuru would also know of Rin's dual identities, or just know that Shalelu has been helping the Red Oni?

Kage Kurai |

Oxnard, if you don't mind I'm going to switch out one of my traits. As *the* arcane caster in the group, it's probably even more important than it otherwise would be to keep my caster level up.

Oxnard Kettlebeak |

Yes- no worries.
If anyone else has minor tweaks they need to make before we begin go ahead.

Emili Vhaddruddr |

Protected cells fixed - sorry about that! I meant to protect the other side so that the name populates everywhere it's supposed to and updates automatically.
Also, Emili has the Hero Worship (Shalelu) trait if we want to coordinate how these three characters might know each other by association (if nothing else). XD
GM, I realized why I went with Lore Warden rather than Free Hand Fighter for this build - Improved Disarm and Greater Disarm both require Combat Expertise, and Lore Warden is treated as though they had the feat from lvl 2. I checked and triple-checked, but there's not really anywhere to actually take Combat Expertise in the build, so I switched back to that archetype. That being said, I'd be more than happy to stay with Free Hand Fighter if you make a house rule that Combat Expertise is not required for those two feats. My apologies for not catching that sooner.

Mitsuru Hisakawa |

Thanks, Emili, that was very fast!
I am more than willing to work in whatever you all think is interesting. Mitsuru's backstory is mostly in broad strokes to make it easier to mesh with other characters. One aspect that I think is important to the character is that her preferred way of following Shalelu around has been as a fox, rather than hanging about in her natural or human forms. Mitsuru's very much a subscriber to the "fake it till you make it" school of thought and is quite hesitant to put her real face forward, at least at first.

Rin Kaijitsu |

Sure! Does that mean Mitsuru would also know of Rin's dual identities, or just know that Shalelu has been helping the Red Oni?
Let's go ahead and say you know about the dual identities since you would have been in your fox form listening in.
@Emili I'd say you wouldn't be aware of the dual identities unless you think Shalelu would have told you. I'll leave that up to you. Either way, Rin is a waitress at her sister's inn so you'd most likely be acquainted with her.
Also if @Mitsuru hangs out at the Rusty Dragon in her fox form she'll get food from Rin.
@Kage I assume you'd be aloofly watching over Rin and Tenchi as well?

Emili Vhaddruddr |

Goodness, I didn't realize we had so many folks hanging around Shalelu. XD GM, if you want some more variety, Emili could tweak his backstory to hang out with Koya or Sandru instead.

Rin Kaijitsu |

Rin has less been hanging around with Shalelu and more it just made sense to me that Shalelu would find out. What with the elf doing her batman thing in the woods Rin is training in.

Mitsuru Hisakawa |

Haha, I had picked Shalelu cause I thought most people would gravitate toward Ameiko or Sandru. Plus, the RotRL campaign I'm in just never had Shalelu as any more than a bit player and I was always curious about her.

Kaijitsu Tenchi |

@Tenchi based on our backstories I'd say you would be older than Rin. I'm also never opposed to twins. For Rin's backstory I would add in Tenchi's leaving as the actual inciting incident for Rin starting her training. Let me know what your thoughts are and we can get our backstories intertwined.
Twins could be interesting; I'd especially find it funny if Tenchi was born like 1 minute before Rin and so he always called himself her older brother.
I also like the idea of Tenchi being Rin's catalyst.
As far as it goes, Tenchi was considered by their father to be the oldest son; Lonjiku was....well. let's just say that there were questions about him and leave it at that. Ameiko and Rin are girls, so that leaves Tenchi to carry on as heir (cause their father is....let's say a staunch traditionalist, and leave it at that).
As a result, Tenchi is hardworking and very serious. Now, he actually walks with purpose in his stride, where before he was hesitant for fear of screwing up and embarrassing the family.

Mitsuru Hisakawa |

I think we probably don't need to decide this straight away, but I was thinking about where to assign our caravan's stat points (and also roles for each of us).
We get 3 points to assign between the 4 stats. Unrest seems like a very not great thing to have so I think 1 should go to Morale to give us a bit of breathing room, and then 1 to Offense. Not sure where the last one ought to go, but I do lean toward Defense.
In terms of roles, Mitsuru can serve as an Entertainer or Scout. Can't do Guard yet since my BAB is currently +0.

Kage Kurai |

@Kage I assume you'd be aloofly watching over Rin and Tenchi as well?
Sure, that makes sense.
Add me to the "friends of Shalelu" list, I took Foreign-tongued: Shalelu (Goblin)
All in all, I'm surprised by the number of Rogues (or at least Rogue-types) we have. I was expecting to play as a rogue-type with some casting, but between rogue redundancy and a lack of arcane casting, I think I'm likely to lean more toward "sneaky sorcerer".

Talios Yintargo |

Hey everyone! Glad to be in the group.
Just finishing up some stuff to finalize the profile and acquaint myself fully with the caravan rules.
I mentioned it in my roadmap but definitely thinking about dipping outside inquisitor for 2 levels to help my ranged combat come online and let me get more flavorful feats on odd levels (Deific Obedience/Savior's Arrow). Zen Archer is so front-loaded on feats. 3 archery feats from the class in the first 2 levels.
Using my divine spells to support and heal the group thanks to my time with Koya.

Oxnard Kettlebeak |

Monk is absurd for front loading when you add in archetypes- Zen Archer, Weapon Master, Far Strike Monk.

Oxnard Kettlebeak |

Fighter, swashbuckler, and some magus archetypes are up there too. If you could be a lawful barbarian so you could dip monk and barb.

Talios Yintargo |

Oh yeah, I have a few characters that have dipped Swashbuckler.
As far as roles for Talios he can cast spells so he can give bonus to quite a few roles. Otherwise Healer, Scout, and eventually Guard would work for him.

Kage Kurai |

Fighter, swashbuckler, and some magus archetypes are up there too. If you could be a lawful barbarian so you could dip monk and barb.
The lack of an alignment restriction is one of my favorite things about the Bloodrager. It's fun to mix some Bloodrager levels into an Oath of Vengeance Paladin of Ragathiel. "I WILL SMITE YOU! VERY ANGRILY!"

Kaijitsu Tenchi |

Tenchi would make either a good guard or trader, since I have ranks in both bluff and diplomacy, and I am staying samurai until the end of the game, so I'll have good bab.

Mitsuru Hisakawa |

Ragathiel is a very intense guy but I'll always have a soft spot for him just because he gave us the spell shield of wings.

Rin Kaijitsu |

Twins could be interesting; I'd especially find it funny if Tenchi was born like 1 minute before Rin and so he always called himself her older brother.
I like the dynamic of Tenchi really playing up the older brother role when he is only a minute or so older. I have a scene in my head where Rin, in her Red Oni guise, challenges Tenchi to a moonlight duel. Possibly on the road as he makes his way home.
Rin could be a Cook or a Trader and can be a Guard starting at level 2.

FYI- my house internet is out today, so all my slide prep, ECT I was planning to work on I am having to put off so probably closer to tomorrow than tonight to be ready to start.

Emili Vhaddruddr |

Goodness, I didn't realize we had so many folks hanging around Shalelu. XD GM, if you want some more variety, Emili could tweak his backstory to hang out with Koya or Sandru instead.
There we go - backstory and trait shifted. Emili is now Best Friends with Sandru, since he was our only NPC not getting any love from the other players. Skills have been slightly shifted as well, swapping Survival for Bluff as it fits more thematically now.
GM, I realized why I went with Lore Warden rather than Free Hand Fighter for this build - Improved Disarm and Greater Disarm both require Combat Expertise, and Lore Warden is treated as though they had the feat from lvl 2. GM, did you have any thoughts on this?

No worries! It happens sometimes.

@Emili: looking at everything together- the Swashbuckler CHA instead of Int it looks ultimately silly to force you to take Combat Expertise and an Int Fighter Archetype just to qualify for Improved Disarm when the other fighter archetype is specifically designed to Disarm but doesn't give any way to do so without an AOO, so I'm going to waive the Combat Expertise requirement in this case--
Essentially I'm house ruling the Free Hand Fighter Archetype's Deceptive Strike ability to include: "Additionally, the Free Hand Fighter counts as having Combat Expertise for the purpose of taking the Improved Disarm feat and feats which have Improved Disarm as a prerequisite."

Oxnard Kettlebeak |

First post is up!
Slide deck is here:
Jade Regent

Oxnard Kettlebeak |

Slide deck updated to be editable off the link sharing- I forget to do that every time!

Kage Kurai |

Rin, are you familiar with the Chu Ye Enforcer archetype? Seems like it might mesh well with your character.

Oxnard Kettlebeak |

I added a new slide at slide two; stole this one from PDK who is using it in a game I am in and I like it- if you can fill in your information and put your token in the box representing marching order please.
Thanks!

Mitsuru Hisakawa |

And add a +2 to your roll for flanking!

Oxnard Kettlebeak |

Look back at your attack Tenchi- you accidently rolled 1d2 instead of 1d20 on that one.

Oxnard Kettlebeak |

Fyi- our internet at the homestead has been out since last night so I'm not sure when I'll be able to update next for sure.

Oxnard Kettlebeak |

Clearing out the Goblin village grants everyone 750 XP.
You also know that with 20 goblin ears and 300 gold for Chief Gutwad you've earned 500 gold in bounty when you return to the village.

Oxnard Kettlebeak |

I either missed seeing the inventory tracker on that sheet, or forgot it was there in the meantime- definitely better to keep it on one.

Skyreave |
Hey folks so this is Vrog Skyreaver/Tenchi. Sorry about the spam if we were in multiple games together.
Unfortunately, I have some bad news. I currently do not have access to my main account. I have opened a ticket to Paizo, but from the email I got back from them, it's not looking like I'll be able to access my account any time soon.
I would have posted sooner but I didn't even think about making an alt until now.
As it's not fair to everyone to make them wait, I'm going to withdraw from the game. If I get me account fixed and the game is still ongoing, I'll reach back out to see about joining.
Thank you for letting me play with you all, and I hope you all have a great game!

Mitsuru Hisakawa |

Vrog, I certainly don't have any issue with you continuing to play under another account. It'll probably be a bit annoying for you to have to redo your profile, but I doubt that would have any significant impact on gameplay, much less to the degree that you'd have to quit entirely.

Oxnard Kettlebeak |

yeah, I will second that as well Vrog if you want to continue on the alt account for the time being, please do.
Otherwise, I am sure we will still be here and can work you back in once you are back if you really do need to step away for a period (this is a long AP after all).

Oxnard Kettlebeak |

Sorry for the delay the transition between the drill and first day back to work is always tricky on me there.
