As the floor moves with the music, it creates a series of treacherous gaps. Musically inclined PCs can plan their jump for a moment when the platforms are close together, and those with athletic prowess can simply clear the gap. Athletics or Performance
While the platforms are generally rising, they sometimes dip lower. Their speed and patterns seem random at first glance, but close examination reveals the method behind their movement and allows a dancer to keep their bearings. Perception or Survival
The ritual blends elements of primal and arcane magic. Closely examining the ritual reveals ways to benefit from its magic to follow along with the dance without experiencing any compulsion to continue dancing until the ritual ends. Arcana or Nature
When the music speeds up, only those who keep up with the flow of the dance can move with the crowds. Acrobatics or Performance
A few guards have carefully avoided the dance floor so they can keep a watchful eye over the festivities. Charting a course past them requires sneaking past or creating a distraction. Deception or Stealth

I don't know if I succeeded or failed but I don't think we want 6 failures. If I have indeed failed I think it's time to use an edge point to turn it into a success.

"I saw that! He did that on purpose! How insulting! Are you gonna take that from him?"

I'm almost sure that the DC is at least average for our tier which would be a little over 20. The Watchful Guards option seems odd during the dance, @GM ZD I can use Perform to Feint, Would that be close enough to distracting the guards?

With that mystery solved, Kang looks around and spots the guards. Putting his many years out sneaking past his house guards to good use, Kang looks for a way to avoid notice as he sneaks past them.

@Quinn, was not sure that was what was wanting to be done. Going forward in the 2nd phase of the dance, I will do that.
With Astrid being able to deceive the guards, she closes the watchful eyes obstacle.
The potent magic of the dance transforms everything into a whirl of color, a cascade of garments and phosphorescent bursts of pollen, of masked revelers sweeping through the air on currents of flashing energy and laughter. The floor is far below, obscured by decadent dresses and swirling colors. The music changes, announcing the beginning of a new dance sequence.

You know technically I have Bhopan lore thanks to Clever Improviser and Untrained Improvisation but my bonus is only +4. I figure I'm better off using Society at +9.
Also now that I think about it, anyone untrained in either Bhopan Lore or Society should probably try Bhopan Lore. The roll should be the same but the DC for the lore is likely lower.

Only two failures, Zhao and Quinn, during the complication.
Now on to phase two.
New Obstacles for second phase
A slight error in the ritual has dangerous consequences, as the movements of a group of dancers slip out of sync with the movement of the floor. Nearby dancers are too caught up in the dance’s magic to assist, so they attempt to move around the injured people, causing the floor to become chaotic and crowded. Each of the injured people gains an animalistic feature, as per the Dancing Mishaps sidebar. Athletics or Medicine

As the dance comes to an end, you see Lelzeshin standing off to the side of the room near an unprotected door. He pushes open the door and gestures for the agents to make there way inside.
"You all did very well during the dance, I am impressed. Here you go." Lelzeshin hands the agents a bag containing a dozen vials. 6 moderate juggernaut and 6 moderate quicksilver mutagens. He also hands you a key ring with three Sneaky Keys. This equates to three treasure bundles.

It takes 20 or so minutes to reach the Royal Vault.

Is Lelzeshin in here with us?
Quinoline will cast light on her shield and keep an eye out for traps.
I'm guessing each of the 4 corners is associated with an elemental power. Quinoline has a ring of resist fire, so if we want to go to the fiery-looking one (northeast) first, it's a lower-risk way to figure out what to expect in the other 3.
Astrid Gertasdottir
|
Astrid gets out her shield ahd uses her wayfinder to cast light.
"Well lets pick a corner and get started. That door isn't opening itself. Unless..."
Astrid walks up to the base of the stairs and examines the door. She gestures towards it and speaks commandingly.
"Door! Open! Open I say!"
She shrugs, then turns back to the others and grins.
"Well it was worth a try. Let's check out one of the alcoves."
| PFS 2 GM ZD |
Lelzeshin shakes his head as Astrid yells at the door. "Your friend has a better method." He says pointing over to Quinoline.
Quinoline approaches the North East alcove. As she enters the alcove, she sees a waste deep layer of fog that swirls around a pillar. Through the fog she can see a mosaic, not enough to see the details though, and a keyhole under the mosaic. Before she can step closer, she is teleported to a pristine beach. The sun beating down on her. After what feels like an eternity, she is spit out, with a red key in her hand.

This trap has 4 magical sensors, one per alcove. To disable the sensor you must be in the alcove and attempt one of the following. Crafting or Thievery(expert) to rig up a dummy or other item to distract the sensor. Or a nature(trained) check to befuddle the sensor with knowledge of primal magic.
